Quote:The Halloween items need to be stored in a base storage item, specifically a Salvage Rack.Last question: I've got two hami costumes, 2 helmets of each kind. A week ago I paid 300k for each to get my fifth costume slot. They're now worth 50k and I can't put them in my vault for storage for when it might go up. I guess I just sell at this low price?
Or you can just carry them around yourself. 'Event Salvage' and 'Special Salvage' items do not interfere with each other or count against a total. I have one character with over 600 event salvage (Halloween items and Candy Canes) and thousands of special (Vanguard merits and rewards merits).
In contrast, the amount of 'Invention Salvage' you can carry is sharply limited (but is affected by your level, badges, and a special Vanguard item you can buy). -
As I understand it, fullscreen mode and multiple instances is bad. I've never tried it myself. I run two accounts frequently without trouble and always do so in windowed mode.
There is a 'slash command' /quit
Finally, what are your system specs? Maybe running two instances is more than some component(s) can handle. -
Quote:um, wait. Drops are based on enemies defeated and then given to a random team member. If you clear a map of 200 enemies, you have 200 chances for a drop - regardless of how many are on the team.Or you can maximize your chances like i have and get a 3rd account to farm with. 3x the drops.
Or do you mean that each account is in a different mission? That would work. -
I requoted the relevant part above: "Rewards also change based on team size".Quote:Team size was set to 8 man +2 with bosses .. mobs identical.. xp for minions, lt's n bosses should have remained the same. in all 3 missions, was repeated so call it a farm, done 3 times.
If anything my friends xp should have remained identical instead it was reduced untill the lowbies left.
You proceeded to explain your difficulty settings. These change THE ENEMY SPAWNS. Your team was still X number of people, and then you had some leave. Your difficulty settings are completely separate from your team size. While they both affect enemy spawns, the rewards from each defeat are based on ACTUAL team size.
So, no, the XP should *NOT* have remained identical. It *SHOULD* have gone up, on a per enemy basis, after some people left the team.
hm, let me clarify that last line. The rewards granted from each enemy are affected by team size. The larger the team, the more each enemy awards. However, the reward is DIVIDED among the team and the increase is LESS than the effect of the division. So, on a larger team, each person gets less reward PER ENEMY defeated. However, a larger team will have more enemies spawn and will defeat them faster. In theory, this results in greater overall rewards per unit of time. In practice, team composition will have a major impact. But yes, as you noticed, on a smaller team, each person receives more per defeat. This is working as intended. -
Quote:If you target the crate from too far away to click it, you can tell with 100% accuracy what is in it.In my experience, you can usually tell what's inside the crates:
Orange tinted crates are usually Particle Cannon.
Green tinted crates are usually Thermite Cannon.
This is not 100% though, but if you are looking for a certain weapon, it's worth a shot. Out of the last 4 runs I did, only 1 person's crate was wrong. -

Quote:P.P.S. I have a massive set of keybinds I set up with explanations and instructions for various points during the trial. I'll post them here when I'm at my gaming system. All the last bind does is load another set that clears all the other binds. Like alt+subtract nop. Setting a key to nop clears it.Code:
ctrl+numpad0 "say Okay, before we start the timer on this I want to go over a couple of things. There are a few points in the trial where some coordination is needed." ctrl+decimal "say On the ramps going down, there are crates with two kinds of weapons - Thermite Cannons and Particle Cannons." ctrl+numpad1 "say The Particle Cannons are the ONLY ATTACK that can hurt the Hydra head and they must go to tough heroes." ctrl+numpad2 "say The people with the Particle guns have to stand there during a long animation while the Hydra head tries to kill them." ctrl+numpad3 "say The Thermite guns are useful against the tentacles or Krakens (NOT the head) and anyone without a powerful attack can take one." ctrl+numpad4 "say You can tell what is in a crate by clicking on it FROM FAR AWAY and your targeting window will tell you what it is." ctrl+numpad5 "say Once we get to the bottom, we have to clear EVERY CRITTER EXCEPT THE HEAD but do NOT damage the four force field generators." ctrl+numpad6 "say Then we split up into 4 teams for the generators. We need to damage each down to about 10% HP, then wait for everyone to be ready." ctrl+numpad7 "say Then we take out the generators FAST and charge the Hydra head and shoot with the Particle guns only." ctrl+numpad8 "say We do this until the force field goes back up. SOMEONE WITH A PARTICLE CANNON needs to be monitoring their combat tab to see when the damage stops." ctrl+numpad9 "say Then we go back to the generators, clear the Rikti repair teams and damage them down to 10% again." ctrl+divide "say We should have to do that about four times total to take down the head (which does NOT regenerate between our attacks)." ctrl+multiply "say Any questions?" ctrl+subtract "say Okay then. I have more keybinds for the important steps as we go through the trial. Here we go." alt+numpad1 "say Remember, click on a crate from far away to tell what's in it. Tough heroes should get the Particle guns." alt+numpad2 "say Okay, now we clear everything, working as a group since there are Krakens. Do NOT damage the generators yet." alt+numpad3 "say Now split into 4 groups and damage the generators down to about 10% hit points. Say when yours is ready." alt+numpad4 "say Okay, trash the generators FAST and announce as soon as yours is down!" alt+numpad5 "say All generators are down! ATTACK THE HEAD WITH PARTICLE GUNS!" alt+numpad6 "say FORCE FIELD IS BACK UP. STOP FIRING." alt+numpad7 "say Okay, back to the generators and get them down to 10% and say when ready." alt+subtract "bindloadfile c:\CoH\binds_ClearNumpad.txt"
I also have a summary page that I use to tell me which binds to use when.
Feel free to use any or all of them.

Key item to note: there are only 4 Particle Cannons and these are the *ONLY* weapon that can hurt the head. You want these to go to the 4 toughest people you have because they need to stand right in the head's face (?) and survive multiple excruciatingly long firing animations.
You can identify exactly what each glowie contains (particle or thermite cannon) by 'clicking on it' from far away. The type of weapon will show up in your targeting window.
P.S. What server? I consistently run this in under 45 minutes but I only have characters high enough level on Infinity. I'd be happy to tag along, offer advice, run the show, whatever.
P.P.S. I have a massive set of keybinds I set up with explanations and instructions for various points during the trial. I'll post them here when I'm at my gaming system. -
Also, not explicitly mentioned so far, that level 40 who is exemplared to level 2 will have the hit points and damage of a level 2 character. So they won't be mopping the floor with anyone. They WILL likely be tougher than a 'real' level 2 since they probably have accolades to boost END or HP and may have IO bonuses that they get to keep. But they won't be doing much mopping.

Use the practice dummies but stand further away.

Patience?! How long will that take?

It took me 10 months to farm that. Of course, in the process, I helped many other people get the badges. So it all paid off in terms of karma.

Quote:100% reproducible. The reason you might not have noticed it is that it's not SUMMONING the O-portal that interrupts. It's when the portal DESPAWNS (due to time-out *OR* the owner going through it). This isn't recent. And it's terribly annoying. The interrupt range is HUNDREDS of feet.

Quote:Could have been worse. As far as I can tell, U.S. construction workers are legally required to use f*** or m-f at least once in every sentence.During the one day that I used my free trial in WoW (man I hated that "game"), I saw more "lol" than is humanly healthy. There was one guys, who would put in a "lol" literally every fourth word... it was his comma, period, line break... EVERY-lol-THING!! I wanted to hurl.

Quote:Yes. 'Place Personal Item' is completely independent of editing the base. You just need to place it right on the first try because moving it after placement requires editing rights.Base Rewards - If you aren't in a position to edit a base, useless. If you are, it can add flavor.

Quote:I don't see the problem, unless he's going commando.I pretty much agree with all of this. Although one of my insane characters does wear a kilt. (It isn't the fact he wears a kilt that means he is insane. It is that he wears a kilt and his travel power is Super Jump.
)
What do they call that in the U.K...... regimental, isn't it? -
Another possibility is to learn which enemy drops them (I don't recall for Quartz - I worry mainly about Cairns) and watch for them. Also, make a targeting bind so you can instantly target the Quartz even in the middle of a mob scene and take it out fast.
-
Sign me up for team one. I have the trial unlocked on:
Ironblade - BS/regen scrapper
Lifeshadow - emp/dark defender
Staff Sgt Frost - ice/SS tanker
And will be doing the arc later today with my SG and unlocking it on Endothermy - dark/dark tanker. If we need a tank, I'll bring him since he has Taunt before level 20 and Stamina at 20. -
I saw a message on one of the global channels saying 8 PM (EST). I can't recall which channel it was.
-
Well, it wasn't a big deal. I can only target one at a time, after all.

In most of the level ranges, there are multiple contacts for each origin who hand out the same missions. When you start, there is one per origin for each starting zone (i.e. a set of five for Atlas and a set of five for Galaxy). After that, there are more contacts per level, up to six. Then at high levels it drops off again, back down to one.

Quote:Yes, yes, we know. And if you were given a flying magical pony that crapped gold and had saddlebags full of cookies, your immediate response would be "What?! No milk?"lame! why are the veteran rewards so lame? like, who cares about extra salvage slots? someone has been playing and paying for 60 odd months and they get this...
