In theory, it's random.
In practice, it follows a predictable pattern but the only way you can notice this is if you have a group of people posting the same item at the same price, then systematically buying them all to see what happens (which people on The Market channel did).
So, for all practical purposes, it's random. -

Try Superspeed. It makes you feel like a sports car on ice.

IR makes your movement very 'twitchy'. It has the potential for excellent control, but you have to learn it. It takes practice and most people don't normally have access to the power so they haven't had opportunity to use it on a regular basis. I have dozens of toons, including two with kinetics at level 50, but none have Inertial Reduction.Quote:Inertial Reduction does that to me. I didn't have that problem with Ninja Jump.
I think the fastest way down is still Inertial Reduction, if your reflexes are capable of dealing with it. (Mine aren't.) And if you don't suffer lag during the run. And if you can find somebody to give it to you, if you don't have it yourself. -
Quote:For some reason, this made me think of a Christmas song idea: Jingle Bells by the Barking Rikti.Obviously the Rikti are incapable of speaking English then. Otherwise they'd simply learn the language. Maybe they can speak, but they do so in a register too high for humans to hear, maybe they can only bark like dogs or make buzzing sounds like an insect (something audible but not directly convertible into human speech), etc.

Much better video potential than the barking dogs version. -
Blasters can have so many attacks it's nuts. I happened to notice this one day while running the Positron TF (BEFORE we got to keep powers up to 5 levels over). Exemped to 15, my energy/energy blaster had 8 attacks. This includes Air Superiority but not origin or vet powers.

Quote:One of the downsides to Bloody Bay is that your targets must be of the opposing faction. Only Warburg is 'free for all'.If it is I might be quicker to use Bloody Bay at lvl 15 and incur the travel times?
These toons will probably be deleted when I am done so want to invest the least time and Inf on them.
How about using toons that you actually like and plan to keep so that it's not a burden to level them up? It really does go much easier in Warburg (per someone who has gotten Disruptor on two toons by farming).
P.S. Why 6 toons? The PvP timer is only 5 minutes and with the time to kill and the log-out time and the PvP zone timer, you won't need 6 toons to cycle through if you're doing this alone. I haven't timed it, but I would estimate 3 toons would be enough. -

No. A 600W power supply is bigger than you need. I think Coolio may have meant that it was a problem with the power supply, rather than it not being powerful enough.
It sounds like a hardware problem to me. One possible connection.... you said the keyboard and mouse are USB. What about the headset? Is that also USB? -
Quote:Oh, you don't, eh? Just so we know what context to take this post in, do you actually have any idea what is involved in creating the animations? It wouldn't take much (i don't believe) to improve ninja run for fluidity so the power is actually worth the purchase.
For a contrasting position, I was quite impressed by the number and detail of the animations implemented and posted to that effect. -
Quote:Why don't you READ before you LOL?This thread was created on November 23rd, and a Redname responded to you within 4 hours, explaining the complexity of the situation. If a new fix was almost done, the Redname comment probably would have reflected that.
That was less than 3 days ago. It's probably going to take a lot longer than that. lol
When THIS thread was started is irrelevant.
This problem has been around a lot longer than 3 days and you know it. -
Quote:Yes. Isn't this obvious? YES, the stupid and unrealistic accents are necessary. If there were no accents, people would say, "Oh, that was unrealistic because they were all speaking perfect English." and sales would suffer. That's just the way people are. Not all of them, but enough to murder the sales figures for any game or movie that tried it.And yet if I were turned into a movie character for English-speaking audiences, chances are I'd be depicted speaking English with a Russian accent, even though my command of my native language would be... I don't want to say perfect, but let's say "not accented." Again, like in Allo' Allo'. Everyone in the show actually speaks English (and are British actors), but when characters speak "English," they speak with a British accents, while the Germans speak German as English with a German accent and the French speak French as English with a French accent. OK, I get that - we need to differentiate between the languages. But when a game or movie takes place ENTIRELY in the same language, why even put accents in there? Are the stereotypes THAT important?

The changes to PvP weren't billed as 'temporary'.
Learn to live with it.

Quote:I have to disagree. I generally find that people in that category are too stupid to realize it and, even if they do, too lazy to do anything about it. It sounds like I'm making a joke, but unfortunately it's true.On the other hand, crafting IOs and expecting them to sell at much higher prices than the cost of the components is a rather risky investment. You are counting on people to be both stupid and lazy. It's a popular combination, I admit, but stupid and lazy people aren't well-known for their reliability.

Quote:A portion of your objective analysis is irrelevant to the matter. The regeneration restores more hit points than the self-heals over time... so what? How much of that regeneration would be occurring when you're at full HP and is therefore wasted? The regeneration does not 'ramp up' in combat (which Willpower DOES). Also, how much of the self-healing gets wasted like all that regen? NONE, as long as you're paying attention. The self-heals occur entirely ON DEMAND - i.e. when you NEED it, unlike the regen. This makes the self-heals more important to survival.I'm aware of those effects. Given that I've looked extremely carefully at those mechanical effects as well as all other mitigation mechanisms both numerically and in-game, I reiterate my prior statements.
Furthermore, I don't think this is an assertion immune to objective analysis. -
If Going Rogue is your specific reason for upgrading, you should wait until we know more. We have almost no information about the hardware requirements associated with GR.
-
Quote:Which is, of course, completely irrelevant. If people are leaving the game because the TF level bug then they were ready for a break any way tbh.
A feature that was enjoyed by a significant number of people was "temporarily" removed and has now been gone for a while. It needs to be fixed, regardless of whether people are getting emo or ragequitting over it. -
We (the SG) will be doing Citadel on Sunday evening, also.

Hardly. It takes significant resources to make a base with 18 storage items. On the other hand, having a bunch of little solo bases with limited storage makes it far less convenient - i.e. less helpful for hoarding.

I contend that it is. I didn't say that most of regen's recovery of hit points comes from the self-heals. My actual comment was "most of it's power", but really I should have used a less vague word like 'survivability'. Incoming damage tends not to be steady and uniform like the effects of regeneration. It tends to spike - like the self-heals.

In most browsers, hitting the 'ESC' key will stop any onscreen animated GIF's.

Quote:That's for sure. Aside from typing, sometimes a mouseclick will register on a window that is BEHIND the window you are trying to click. Also, with so many keyboard shortcuts built into the menu, you can do all kinds of carnage by accident. Luckily, as noted above, not too hard to fix. Thanks to both of you, I could have deleted it without knowing.

This sounds reasonable at first, but let's look a little closer. How many direct competitors (same genre) does CoH have? Exactly one, which only showed up recently and may or may not be a long-term success. This is why CoH got onto that list of top 10 MMO's that changed the industry. CoH was nothing short of groundbreaking and only now, 5-1/2 years later, does it have any competition at all.
Right, so this is already addressed.Quote:It's graphics aren't that great ( But we're hoping Going Rogue fixes that ),
It is? Why? In what way? We hear this a lot but, seriously, aren't most of the people who mention it just parroting something they heard? It's like global warming. 99% of the people shrieking about it, on either side of the argument, genuinely don't have the first clue.Quote:it's engine is dated
It is? Why? In what... whoa! Deja vu.Quote:and it's combat may be a little dated as well.
Wonderful weasel phrase there - "the great scheme of things". There is some universal standard that CoH isn't measuring up to? What would that be? The subscriber numbers of WoW?Quote:I also notice many of the servers ( Guardian for instance ) are nearly dead ( Almost empty ) and the most populated servers don't seem to have that many people on them in the great scheme of things.
Frankly, knowing the historical subscription numbers, if that figure is accurate, I am FREAKING THRILLED. If we really are holding at 130K that is outstanding. And I'm not being sarcastic. I'm skeptical of that number but if it's true, that is great.Quote:Recently I had read that CoH released their subscriber numbers for 2009 and it rounded nearly 130,000 people ( Not quite reaching 130,000 - Something more like in the 128's or something, I think. ) and I notice quite a lot of talk.. Well, everywhere.. From CoH players, haters and lovers alike.. Frankly I'm worried for the game..
