Although it is worth pointing out that the enhanced graphics in GR are optional. If your system is not powerful enough, they can be turned off.

No, but since it's pretty much a jerkwater planet, it's a good place to hide.

Quote:Yeah.....Yes it is. Well, that and stubbornness and a sense of false entitlement.
That didn't last long, did it?Quote:I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I know that some of us make your job REALLY hard, especially when you have to come back in Monday to deal with the mess that was made during the weekend. So to apologize, I'm going to do two things:
1. Try to act nicer, more helpful, less snide, snarky and mean to people, and

I've seen this (minus the random doors upon re-zoning) on rare occasions. My impression is that the mission server sometimes gets confused with multiple people trying to load a mission simultaneously. My solution, which works pretty often, is to have ONE person enter the mission - the person with the best computer and a good connection. If they get in, they can tell everyone else to join them.

Quote:That sounds like a reasonable number. That probably won't let you run Going Rogue at max settings, but it's vastly beyond what you would need for surfing the web.I showed them what I was looking for and all they could tell me that a good gaming computer would cost me roughly $1000 to start and I was thinking that is insane. Is that the cost of a new computer these days?
I'm curious, though; "insane" how? Are you surprised the number was that high or that low? Frankly, I'm amazed at how computers keep getting cheaper while increasing exponentially in processing power. My first computer had a Z80 CPU with a clock speed of 2MHz, 48KB of RAM and a 104KB storage drive. It cost nearly $2,000 and that was over THIRTY YEARS AGO so that was big bucks. Today, you can get a computer with a CPU 1000x faster, 20,000x as much memory and a drive ONE MILLION times larger - for around $300.
P.S. I build my own computers and will be building a new one early next year. My target cost (having done minimal research at this point) is about $1400 for a system that can beat up Going Rogue and take its lunch money. -
Well, almost. I have an inactive SG on Virtue that I never got around to building a base for. The SG has just over 6.5 million prestige. If you can't find a group with more, and you feel this is enough to work with, drop me a PM.

Quote:Technically, no.What, it's 10 merits just for beating up the big bad? Whoa!
Oh wait- 2 for the WL to spawn the gate, 2 for each of the 3 guardians and 2 for the big guy himself. I get it.
2 for the WL to spawn the gate.
Nothing for the 3 Guardians.
8 for the big guy himself. (Plus 20 candy canes.)
So once you get in the Realm, there's no 'partial credit'. If you don't manage to defeat the Lord of Winter - you get zilch. -
Inane pop music sells, though. Can you name the artist who had the highest grossing tour in 2009 by any solo artist? Britney Spears.

Because it rhymes that way. Just like 'butcher, baker and candlestick-maker'.

Do not want.Quote:Picture the following:
Every character class in the entire game is an able fighter. Every last one of them. They all have decent defences, they all have respectable offences and they're all capable in a decent fight. IN ADDITION to that, each one can do someone else.
Why? Jack of all trades and master of none. I *LIKE* specialized characters. If I want a decent fighter, I have them. If I want a character who is weak on his own but makes a team unstoppable (and I *DO*), I have those too.
No.Quote:I understand the draw of specialization, but wouldn't it really make sense to let everyone be decent at fighting for his life? One would think all super heroes would need to be, in order to have survived long enough to level up, right?
Since we're talking about people who directly oppose the bad guys, let's make a comparison with soldiers. Is every one of them a marksman? Some don't even carry a weapon. If a soldier is a doctor, do his comrades leave him to die if he can't "survive long enough to level up"? Or do they work as a team? -
Quote:1) Value is entirely subjective. So, are you going to tell me that you honestly think the content in two booster packs (you can even choose which two!) is roughly equivalent in value to the entire original game?
2) To directly answer your question, "No." Of course, this is completely irrelevant. The real question is whether they are worth $10. To me, yes.
I figured you would end up here eventually. Anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid. Right.Quote:Nope, got nothing else to say. You either agree or you're clueless... -

Oh, one more thing worth mentioning - while I said I don't use Taunt that much, I only have 1 tank WITHOUT Taunt and 3 tanks WITH Taunt. In my opinion, it's often useful and, on rare occasions, vital.

Quote:You noticed that choppiness on both cable and DSL because the difference in available bandwidth has NOTHING to do with it.Also I noticed tonight that movement from npcs and vehicles was very choppy but I switched back to cable (haven't had it disconnected yet obviously) and noticed the same thing. Thoughts?
Having said that, one connection might be better than the other. You might want to try one connection and type /netgraph 1 in the chat line. That will give you some graphical and numeric information about the quality of your connection. Then switch to the other and try the same thing.
Type /netgraph 0 to turn it off. -
Quote:And, following the example of my previous post, go ahead and post that word and see what happens. That would be choosing to behave inappropriately and you would be punished. But why? It's only a word.Let's make this simple.
Take this word: Can't.
Now remove the apostrophe and replace the second letter with a different one.
The new word "offends" people. But why? They are merely letters. What makes that word any "worse" or better than any other? "Bad words" were made up by people. They are entirely imaginary. -
Quote:This is true.Offense is created by the offended, not the offender. If nothing upsets or offends you, then guess what? Nobody has that power over you, and you lead a much happier life.
People GIVE others the power to hurt them. If someone is hurting you with words... simply take that power away from them. Give their words no weight or meaning. There, problem solved and you end up with an idiot that's ranting and raving his head off to no effect, wasting HIS time instead of yours.
But it does not change the fact that each individual can choose for themselves whether or not to act like a jerk, based on prevailing community standards.
Player A can be a jerk to Player B, who laughs it off and isn't bothered in the slightest.
Player A can be a jerk to Player C, who is enraged by it.
In both cases, Player A is choosing to be a jerk. -

They slot into travel powers. I have all the travel powers.

Quote:er... $20, not $40.I bought both of the Magic pack and the Cyborg pack at the same time... and regretted it within the hour. I played with the costume change emotes for a few minutes, (FINALLY) gave some of my magic and tech origin toons costumes that looked the part, and then thought, "$40 bucks for this? SERIOUSLY?!?!?" I really can't understand how you guys keep eating this stuff up. It makes me ANGRY every time they release a new booster pack.
And, as I said in another thread, if you're actually getting ANGRY about something that doesn't directly affect you, you need to take a step back and get a grip. Why in hell would you be getting angry when Paragon Studios releases a booster pack? Good lord, man, just don't buy it.
Here's a clue: you don't know what you're talking about. I guess more than TRIPLING the game staff doesn't count as spending money on the game, huh?Quote:There are a lot of REAL ideas floating around the forums about how to improve the game, but as I read them, they're mostly the same ideas that people have been tossing around since I started playing. Here's a clue: the dev's aren't listening. Creating REAL content is costly and requires creativity, and NC Soft seems unwilling to expend either.
And we keep paying because we're all stupid, mindless zombies? Guess again. *WE* like the booster packs. Not everyone does, but the people who keep buying them; we're the ones who LIKE them.Quote:They're happy to keep selling you the almost nothing that comes in these booster packs, since the players seem happy to continue forking over money for it. It's a giant snow job.
No, that article is BS written by someone with an axe to grind. He reveals his bias immediately: "Farming, levelling up alts, and badge earning are basically three of the only fun things to do in the game. " This guy is all about farming and power-leveling (he's specifically referring to speed of leveling in AE). AE wasn't catering to HIM so it sucks.Quote:This article about i13 highlights everything that was, and remains, wrong with the game:
http://www.brighthub.com/video-games...cles/5691.aspx
It's on the money, and nothing has really changed in years. Time to unsub I guess, which saddens me because this game was a great idea that gets so much right, but in the end suffers from a lack of anything fun to DO.
Anyway, if it's time to go, it's time to go. No game is going to appeal to everyone. If you really aren't enjoying this one, then stop spending your money on it. -
Quote:Edelweiss has yodeling.Well okay, I'm not sure about the yodeling part. But several very good folk/viking metal bands use accordians.
Korpiklaani uses accordians (unofficial Pinnacle Theme Group?)
So does Turisas
Of course, yodeling shows up in lots of kinds of music. -
Quote:um... When you say "end sapper", do you mean that it uses a lot of end or that it steals end? When people talk about a 'sapper build', they mean that it drains end from the enemies.Dark's to-hit debuffs are really tempting too, because lower to-hit is essentially higher defense for the team. And I heard ice armor is an end sapper; how does dark compare?
Assuming you were referring to endurance USAGE, ice armor is is a walk in the park. It doesn't cost too much END and then you get a power (Energy Absorption) that boost your END (yes, by stealing it from the enemies around you). It also boosts your defense so it's really a key power.
Dark armor is much harder on your endurance. It has more toggles and no +END power. My dark armor tank took dark melee so he has Dark Consumption to boost his END.
