At this point in the game, I don't think I'd play Stone Armor even if it made you completely impervious to damage. Sure, you have the best survivability in the game, but you almost never get a chance to use all of it as it is. Not only that, but you have to trade even more offense/flexibility for that overkill survivability. That makes the character far too one dimentional to me. I'd much rather still be a "mortal" Tank and be able to perform well in a wide variety of situations than be locked into a single role.
Yeah, but unless they invent or proliferate more sets, I'm going to run out.
    I just started a WP/ice and figure I'll do elec/elec next.

    Next tank?

Okay, created the toon today. I went WP/ice. I used a name I had been thinking about for another ice-based character, sort of. My first choice was taken - Taiga Tiger. But Taiga Tigress was free so I made a catgirl.

You realize that my point is that the site is broken, right? Some pages will come up with a dozen error messages.
  4. I think NCSoft needs to make a marketing deal with Hasbro and give us an entire set based on Nerf weapons. Then you could run around and Nerf everyone.
  5. No, it's bugged. What's it's SUPPOSED to do is that the winner from each duel moves to the next round each time. But it seems to be random who advances or, if there is a pattern, I don't know what it is.

Only one at 2400. My other computer had a 1200 as a back-up.

But yeah, I'm glad the BBS wasn't in my house. It was a big BBS with 32 phone lines and there were 4 Sysops, one of whom had all those phone lines running to his house.
  7. You mean dusty like Pigpen in the Peanuts comic strip? Oh.

Well, I have a couple of characters on a server where I don't play any more. Both are around level 15.
Dyno Joe - an energy/energy blaster.
Trollkin Samurai - katana/regen scrapper and you can guess what he looks like.

    Next tank?

Well, my dark tank hit 50 and I haven't decided on the replacement yet. Still Willpower for sure. Definitely want a secondary I haven't done.

I have so far ruled out Dual Blades after reading up on the combo business and hearing about how many of the powers are needed for it to be effective. Most of my tanks seem to take 5-6 powers from the secondary and I don't want to have to fill up on that. Also, the combos seem like they would be annoying to keep track of while tanking. I might try the set on a scrapper.

I'm leaning away from Mace since my previous tank was Shield/Axe and, from the comments at the time, it sounded like Axe and Mace were almost neck and neck in damage and mitigation.

I'm leaning toward WP/Ice since it seems 'different' and I have a name and concept in mind (if the name is available - haven't checked yet). Also leaning toward WP/Electric since Lightning Rod looks super fun, rather like Shield Charge.

I need a tank 'in the works' so I'll probably decice and roll him up tomorrow.
  10. And, looking at these charts again, I may have to reconsider about stone armor. I figured if my invuln could tank Lord Recluse, why do I need a guy with stone armor? But those numbers for stone with granite. Wow.

First, the power needs to hit in order to heal you, yet you slotted absolutely no accuracy? Any form of tohit debuff / def buff from enemies will completely screw you. (Don't forget the streakbreaker uses your lowest tohit value, too. So you'd be allowing yourself a larger streak of misses to boot.) Not only that, but Dark Regen saturates really fast. With just 3 targets it's a full heal of your base hp. The only time slotting DR would be helpful is against a solo boss. I'd probably assume something more along the lines of 2 acc/2-3 end/1-2 rech/0-1 heal.
It's problematic since straight SO slotting is probably no longer the norm for most characters, let alone a tank. My dark tank hit 50 last week and Dark Regen just BEGS for frankenslotting. It's the biggest self-heal in the game, has to roll to hit and costs 33 END. I have it at about 90% recharge and 90% end reduction with good accuracy (close to 40% on top of 41% global) and some healing (I can't recall how much). I don't have my build in front of me, but I think I have pieces of 5 different sets in it (6 slots total). Money was no object for such a power. I have the Obliteration quad in it, since that hits accuracy, recharge and endred.

There's a lot of places where there just isn't a 'standard slotting'. With SO's, I'm sure we all agree on 3 heal / 3 recharge for Dull Pain, but for something like Dark Regen - yoiks.

I thought the 2x2 room could hold up to 9 storage items? To me, this means 9 storage bins of any kind...salvage, inspirs, or IO.
hm, something is odd. The 2x2 room is listed on ParagonWiki.com as holding 9 storage items. I don't think I've ever tested it (putting 9 in), but I certainly have that room with at least 4 storage items. Thinking a moment, I can picture a 2x2 room in one of my bases that has 2 inspiration storage, 2 enhancement storage, 1 vault storage and 1 invention worktable.

My first thought would have been that you had the wrong type of room, since control, medical, etc allow one storage item. But those rooms wouldn't allow any worktables at all. So... um... exit the base editor, exit the base, go back in and try again? Sometimes things get 'wonky' and need to reset.

In general, and definitely for older missions, I would say coincidence.
For new content, the devs have steadily implemented more flexibility and control in their designs. I would not be surprised if they have the ABILITY to do this, but so far have not seen any evidence of it.

Answering just this question and ignoring the rest of the characters leveling career, etc - the two 50's and Performance Shifter are the best option.

Three SO's would get you around 95% on Stamina.
With level 50 IO's, two of them gets you over 80% and the 3rd one is mostly (like two thirds of it) wasted.
The Perf Shifter proc will get you approximately the same benefit over time as an even level (i.e. white conning) SO. I forget whether the proc was higher or lower, but it's within a few percentage points of SO performance (i.e. 33% boost).

Personally, on characters with END problems, I really REALLY try to scrape up an extra slot to get 4 slots in Stamina. I'll slot three level 30 IO's plus the proc and be good for the next 23 levels. If you definitely only have 3 slots and will use level 50 IO's, definitely put two end mod IO's plus the Perf Shifter.

Note: One other benefit of the Perf Shifter proc, which will not matter most of the time - it is NOT boosting your recovery. It is flat-out granting 10 pts of endurance. While it can not exceed your max endurance, if you are under the effect of a debuff or power (like a blaster who just nuked) that negates your recovery, this has no effect at all on the proc. It still works just fine.

Sadly, CoD seems to be. . . less than up-to-date. Various powersets do not appear at all. Also, when clicking your link above, the page had an error message:
Warning: max() [function.max]: Array must contain atleast one element in /usr/local/share/www/cox/includes/google/googlebarchart.inc.php on line 30

I wouldn't put too much stock in what CoD says the inspirations SHOULD be doing.

Just a little clarification/expansion on these items, since I think some of the replies are taking things for granted. No disrepect to the OP, but I think we need to explain a lot more as his knowledge seems somewhat limited.

On the first item, mentioning 'key powers', I would certainly agree with those four but would also add Tough Hide. Tough Hide gives a significant amount of defense and costs zero endurance.

In the second quote, in order to reach 90% resistance to smashing/lethal damage, you need the power 'Tough' from the Fighting Pool.

And definitely post your build, ideally using a build planner, so we can see all powers and slots and the levels you took each power at.

I don't get that error message, but I'm certainly crashing more than I used to.
I uninstalled the one piece of software I had installed about the time it started.
    Ran anti-virus scan.

  20. I was about to mention exactly that. I know that people had done that in reverse - high level toons teleporting INTO the tutorial (subsequently fixed), so I figured it might work the other way too.
  21. Yep, you're wrong.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page and http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page both link to the exact same site.

The 'bad' site is the one at Wikia which is sparsely updated and allows ads and has various other issues.

And I was one of the first in the crowd to have a 2400 baud modem.

Let me 'splain. That basically means it communicated at 2400 bits per second over a phone line. If you have a connection like Verizon FIOS, you might have 10 or more Mbps (megabits, or millions of bits, per second). So basically, I was using two cups and a string.

Well, generally speaking, the point of playing a GAME is to have FUN. I have a handful of characters with two travel powers because it's more fun than having just one. And I don't care in the slightest what other people in the game think about it.
  25. Even worse, here's a third opinion: if there is any interest in PvP, you want Freedom. PvP'ers from lots of servers decided to move there with the free transfers.

Of course, if you only have one PvP'er, just lock him/her in the basement.
