Quote:I don't think that phrase means what you think it means. I like this game. GR will get here when it gets here. More or less information in the interim won't change when it gets here, nor will it cause me to cancel my subscription. The goal of any 5+ year MMO is to retain it's loyal customers while trying to net new people. When your loyal customers don't renew their subscriptions based mostly on No new information/new updates... There is a problem.
Okay, now let's see if that results in brainless fools calling me a fanboi.

Quote:Pretty much. When I tank the Imperious TF on my invuln, any decent size group will have him down to -100% base defense in seconds. Now ask me if it does them any good.So basically there is very little for a resistance based tank to deal with defense debuffs. Mobs with defense debuffs with a few hits will be hitting 95% of the time.

Quote:...loggin in alt acct's give a HUGE advantage..u get double everything (inf, salv, and recipes!!!)You are correct and TrueDarkLord is wrong. Whether a team has 1 person or 8 does not affect the drop rate. If a drop occurs, the system decides randomly who gets it. If there is only one person on the team, that person gets all drops.Quote:I thought salvage and recipes were divided by teammates. Only influence would be doubled.
Note: A larger team faces more enemies so there are more CHANCES for drops. This is why people farm with their setting at 8 players. One person gets all the drops generated. -
Please note, the base editing and storage settings are two unrelated items. You could give the person editing rights but have them unable to remove items from storage.

Quote:No, there is nothing confusing or unclear in this situation. The links you posted have no bearing on the subject at hand (and one of them doesn't work).as you see there are many precedents already establish on both sides. EULAs are not easy subject. And there are many more to list i just got these in from my bud whos a IP attorney.
And as far as I.P. property i was referring to the stuff i generated not the wholesale creation of the io system but what is "mine" and i have generated" through my gameplay" using their RNG.
If something terrible happened to NCSoft's servers and your account was lost, they would have no obligation to compensate you in any way. It would be a good BUSINESS decision to somehow make it up to you, but they have zero legal obligation since you lost NOTHING. The value you attach to the contents of the account is not legally relevant. -

um, can you be a bit more descriptive?
... or something? -
BZZT! Wrong answer. You have it backwards. Figure out how to get the self-sustaining growth FIRST and you will almost effortlessly end up with a big SG.

Quote:Probably. With millions of names in use, most prohibited names are only going to get noticed via a petition. Would you feel any better if it wasn't a spiteful petition, and instead was an over-protective parent who interpreted it as a drug reference?the strangest thing is I had that name on my EU account for a good 2-3 years sitting @ lvl 50 and not once did it even cross my mind that its 'offensive' now go figure I make it on freedom and it gets generic'd.. I honestly belive it was through that one out of spite petition.
-
It doesn't matter if you mean the letter J or whether you think it's offensive. Besides, it doesn't seem 'offensive' at all, but it does seem like a drug reference. And it doesn't MATTER whether it is, or not. A reasonable person reading that phrase would conclude it is a reference to marijuana. This is explicitly prohibited in the EULA. Very simple.

Quote:Yes, but I think this is really facilitated at the moment by the free server transfers. Without those, the buyer and seller have to be on the same server (or willing to spend $10 to move). Not much of a constructive answer, but I have a hearty "Ell Oh Ell" for all those people who have crapped on my posts re: a legitimate black market emerging for items that exceed the inf. cap.
I said it would happen. So did most Marketeers. Now, that TP protection IO is selling for 3.8B off the Market. A cap isn't going to magically reduce demand. -
Quote:Wrong. It is ENTIRELY and PRECISELY true. Also, you don't need to be IN the first mission. Once you are in task force mode, you can kick all others EXCEPT ONE. You MUST have two people in the task force or it disbands. Eric has every detail in that post correct. In the interest of completeness, too, I just wanted to point out to anyone who doesn't know, that (aside from the Ouroboros "TFs" [which aren't truly TFs]) technically there AREN'T any TFs that can be soloed -- as soon as only one character is in a TF, it auto-disbands. So "soloing" a TF is actually doing it alone, spawned for at least two (one logged out).

Quote:You don't know that. None of us do.Yes, they should all be there waiting for you.
There hasn't been a name purge in years.
We were officially notified of the name purge policy and we were advised that they might run it at any time of their choosing with no further notice. They could be running that script every month for all you know. -
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. We're not talking about something from the Bill of Rights. We're talking about intellectual property existing only in an electronic medium. And you think the law says you can't give away your rights to intellectual property? Wow.

Quote:Trust me. I had an event running overnight which was ended by the routine maintenance. I wasn't working that day, so I tried to set it up again immediately after maintenance.I believe it was "fixed" much earlier than just last week. When I last ran that farm on another character (October 12),
Ah, I didn't think to try that.Quote:BUT, I didn't have to! I simply set it to "individual kills: 10", and it still worked all night long without timing out.
Wanna bet that gets fixed by the end of the month, now that you posted about it?

What? How could I know how bad it was until I tried it?

Minimum difficulty (this was back before we had the detailed settings - so Heroic). Tell you about it? OMG, it was HEINOUS! With the buffs and debuffs, I imagine it's kind of like if you tried fighting an EB on a character with no enhancements slotted, and no temps or inspirations to fall back on, and no travel power if you decide to run. I was able to do it, but I realized:Quote:ok tell me about that - I'm really interested. And what diff level were you at?
1) When I actually did meet an EB, I would be paste.
2) It was taking AT LEAST five times as long as it should have, so it wasn't efficient at all.
I only did this on my badger, who is broadsword/regen. I typically ended up with 2 or 3 challenge conditions at a time. The only time I really had to be careful was arcs like Marian Jenkins' with wall-to-wall EB's.Quote:Best I could tolerate at the same time was this:
Attempt1: Enemy Buffed, no Insp, only AT
Attempt2: Player Debuff, no Temp
Attempt3: No Enhance, no Travel
Depending on which toon I was using, different attempts would be harder than others, but it gave me a run for my money a couple of times anyway. -
Benefits? Oh, right, they give powers, bonus XP, stuff like that. I'm a badger. I spend my 21 days then move on to the next one.

Quote:Of course, I run my computer 24/7 at 100% CPU utilization anyway (SETI@home) so if I run CoH overnight it doesn't matter. Otherwise I would have had second thoughts about those months of farming for the Empath badge. Its interesting because I am paying 14 cents per kwh where I live, and I keep getting emails offering me oodles of inf at 1.7 cents/ million inf. so 8 kwh * 14cents = $1.12 + wear and tear on computer vs 68 millon or so inf for that and no wear and tear.

Oh, absolutely. Earning prestige is definitely more efficient on a 50, just not by a factor of 18 or 30, which numbers a previous post was tossing around.
-
Oh, one more thing. Since a question about PvP rep is appearing in a thread titled 'Healing Badges', I'm guessing the plan is to get the Longbow Warden Gladiator 2 and farm healing in the arena.
This was um... well, technically, it was fixing an exploit but let's go with the phrase everyone else is going to apply: this was 'stealth nerfed' during the routine maintenance last week. Since it was a server-side change, no client patch was required.
Previously, you would set up the match as a Team Gladiator event with the victory condition as 'Last Man Standing'. This is no longer a valid setting and the match can not be started. As far as I can tell, the best you can do is a timed event with the maximum time allowed at 30 minutes. Thus, you would have 35 minutes of farming (30 minute match plus 5 minute pause before you are ejected from the arena).
Comment: I actually expected heals to stop counting for pets in the arena at the time they reduced the Empath requirement the second time, making it only 1/100th of the original 1 billion points healed. I guess that making the heals not count was either just difficult, or impossible without borking regular healing progress. It took me 10 months to get the Empath badge in the arena for my scrapper. Amusingly, with the current requirement, I could have done it with Aid Other. I was already past 7 million points healed when I got Disruptor and started farming it. -
Quote:Boring. For that particular level range Scarlett me boyo, I recommend you do Levantera's arc "The Strange Case of Benjamin A. Decker (35-50)": it's short, it's sweet and it wins. It's the one I used for every Ouroboring badge in the 45-50 range.

When I was working on the O-badges, I decided to complete my collection of souvenirs at the same time and, whenever possible, used arcs for the challenge badges that my badger had not done previously.
Also, in the pursuit of maximum efficiency, I tried *ONCE* to earn every challenge badge for a level range at the same time. Enemies buffed, player debuffed, no enhancements, no inspirations, no temp powers, no travel powers. Not fun.
