Quote:Yes. At any time, you can clear your target by hitting Escape. Now if I have it on auto, and an npc targeted, and it does not go off...will it go off as soon as I target an enemy, or have nothing targeted?
Or, as you noted, targeting an enemy will also do it. -

Quote:Yeah..... it sounds like your employer recognized they have a productivity issue and took simple steps to address it.This is a sad day. My cubical at work has be rearranged such that both my monitors face the door. It wasnt just me but everyone. Thus, people can easily see what Im doing now. There is no good equipment or bodily re-positioning that I can do and my rear view mirror rarely helps.
Word to the wise: the next step may be monitoring software to identify the problem individuals and make an example of them. -
The problem is this:
The people who have good security on their computers, scan them regularly, and use strong passwords recognize the value in them but don't see the need. And rightly so. They already have sufficient security.
The people who are utterly clueless about computer security are the ones who need them. But they don't recognize that. They're noobs and believe that "only idiots get their computers compromised" but they ARE the idiots. -

My.
God.
That is absolutely hysterical. -
If they 'offered' it, I would not use one.
It it was required, I'd put up with it but I'd be irritated. -
Sign me up for team one.
If needed, I can bring a level 39 earth/rad since the trial requires someone in the correct level range to start it. -

No, the free server transfers run to the end of the month.
The Winter event runs through January 12th, per this post. -
Quote:According to? You? Subscription numbers are more important than the bottom line? But in making that graph your friend believes that sales trump subscription numbers, which is a fallacy.
But you're making an assumption here. There is an additional factor in the equation - the various 'micro payment' items (respecs, renames, transfers, booster packs).Quote:There's no model for a five year old mmo which relies on new sales over steady monthly subscriptions. None, that I'm aware of. -

i can haz ur...
Oh, "back". Not leaving again.
Changes to the market?
Well, the Winter event has borked salvage prices, as usual. -
That is correct. The chat server is separate from the game servers. That's how you can play but have global chat out of commission. The consignment house is also on a separate server.

Quote:So the bulk of your argument consists of a 'belief' and a made-up 'fact'.Also, I believe most people don't play multiple MMO's at the same time so there would not be an issue trying to manage multiple fobs, and the ones that do play two, maybe three at the most.
The minor cost of the upgrades on the back end would more than be made up for by the near complete drop in petitions and customer service calls regarding account hacking.
Unless you work in computer security, you have no idea how "minor" the back-end cost is. And unless you manage tech support, you have no idea what the customer service cost is. -
Quote:Neither am I, but I'd bet money it's not the game. I have NEVER had CoH cause my computer to lock up. When the game crashes or locks up, it has never affected anything else. And that "fire alarm sound" is scary. Can you be more specific about that?I can play the game fine for a whiile but when i get into a battle an it gets hot an heavy my comp gives a fire alarm sound from system an locks up , i can't do anything until i reboot the system, everything was running fine until the patch came in, not sure what else it can be,

Quote:I see. We're all stupid or deluded, but you're the font of wisdom?for everyone one that says this game isnt dying or isnt a ghost town your only kidding yourselves.
when you dont think every year is a nerf in some way shape or form..your again kidding yourselves.

Really. As for slotting, my invuln is not slotted AT ALL for defense (well, Invincibility is fully slotted - I mean no defense set bonuses). He's slotted for regen.

Yes, but it doesn't mean the game will become unplayable. The Ultra Mode graphics are optional. If your card can't handle it, turn it off.

Actually, it seems like you made a mistake about your own ability to address the subject objectively. Your response seems completely disproportionate to the tone of the posts I've been reading. My impression is that you have some degree of personal 'investment' in a certain position and are interpreting disagreement with the POSITION as hostility directed at YOU.

Quote:I find this passage interesting. But I've noticed that despite the fact that most MPRers and ERPers do it in private they're still mocked and insulted for it as if they're lesser for taking part in something they enjoy.
If this is taking place in private, how do other people find out about it in order to mock/insult them? I conclude that it's not as private as you're suggesting. -
Quote:You overlook the fact that many words have completely different meanings on each side of the Atlantic. To be honest I wasn't aware of the fact (before this thread) that names of drugs were forbidden. One thing I can say though. I see far more genericed players on the US side then on the EU side. For example my Forum Handle in combination with my Avatar caused some unrest when the forums were fused. I had had the same combination for a long time on the EU forums and nobody mentioned a thing. Things seem a lot more touchy over here.

Quote:It's worth noting that giving actual subscriber numbers was not a common practice (and still is not). Maybe the numbers got so bad they felt they had to hide them. Or maybe they felt that giving such detailed information wasn't a good idea and they changed their policy to conform with the market.I mean the last time subscriber numbers were revealed it wasn't a trickle of player loss it was a lump sum of ten thousand subs Q to Q lost.
And then the subscription information was hidden, for the first time.
Either explanation is reasonable in the absence of facts.
