Quote:- Enhancement and Inspiration trays showing on top of each other when you log in;Actually, it's not.Quote:Actually, that's probably your fault for switching monitor sizes.

I have that happen occasionally and only play CoH from one computer with one monitor. Also, sometimes the power tray has moved away from the edge of the screen. And sometimes I'll have an extra power tray floating around the window - a power tray I never opened.
Some of the GUI elements just act wonky. -

More RAM. My system isn't as powerful but I have 8GB of RAM and never regretted it. 4GB just doesn't cut it for a 'beast'. You'll be hindered by the amount of memory.

Quote:Triple pistols? Where could someone carry a third gun?Triple Pistols, which means that the Extra Body Parts costume pack will be in high demand.

Quote:I have not played Demon Summoning or Kinetic Melee.Kinetic Melee looks rather bland to me.
Pistols looks adaptive which is neat.
Demon Summoning looks fun, but I'll have to discern what the demons do.
Electric Control also seems pretty meh.
Dual Pistols is pretty good. I generally don't care for blasters but I've been playing this one steadily. The animations are pretty over the top so you'll probably either love them or hate them.
Electric Control is great. I took that set all the way to 50 in a pretty short time. If you like controllers at all, this set is worth playing. -
Okay, I'm taking these a bit out of order. Based on level, we should really do the Eden Trial next. However, Eden is the Weekly Strike Target for the FOLLOWING week so I figured we might as well juggle the TF's around a bit. Also, we're skipping the Dr Quaterfield TF since it's just too long. If someone would like to run it on a different day, possibly over the July 4th weekend, let me know. I've run it plenty of times and 122 merits is worth running it again.

Sara Moore TF - AKA The Legend of Ruladak
Level 40+ (exemps to 45)
Requires 8 players.
Cascade Archipelago by Molepoint Charlie
(If you have molepoint access, you can take the shortcut from Firebase Zulu. Otherwise, go the long way and we'll make sure you get molepoint access for the future.)
Despite being 15 missions long, this is one of the shorter Shadow Shard task forces.
1. Ironblade - Al Pine, lvl 40 plant/cold controller (unless we need something else).
2. starpheonix - Infinite Comedy (MM, I think)
3. Scheol - Dumpster Queen (tank)
4. GATE-keeper - same name (tank)
5.

Well, nine sign-ups, thirteen people showed up. We recruited some extra, ran with two teams of 8 and both teams finished in under 50 minutes (vs the 90 minute timer).

Only the longer arcs would warrant an empyrean merit. It would have to require a significantly greater time investment than an Incarnate Trial. With that caveat, I like the idea.

Voice recognition has been touted as the 'next big thing' off and on for decades. The simple fact is, it sucks. In CONTROLLED CONDITIONS (little or no background noise, limited vocabulary, trained to a specific user) it can excel and be extremely useful. Accordingly, it may have a future in video games for controlling the game mechanics since this has a limited number of options and a gamer would absolutely be willing to train the software to his/her voice. For recognizing speech on random topics, it doesn't cut it. Not yet and maybe not for many years.
Touchscreens can never replace keyboards (or some other type of dedicated controller) for the simple reason that they are FLAT. You can't look away and tell by touch what controls your fingers are on.
We already have these technologies in situations where you can't have a keyboard or other control device, like phones and tablets. This relates to why the desktop system with a big screen will never go away. Too many people need that additional functionality. We may get to the point where we have a supercomputer phone with voice recognition. And plenty of the users will plug it into a big screen and keyboard when they get home. -
Quote:I don't think this is correct. I thought the drop tables were amended to make the more useful recipes drop more often. All drops in a pool have equal weighting*.
*Drops only. Rolls can have variable weighting.
ParagonWiki says:
"The combined C & D Pool recipes are now also weighted by usefulness. This means recipes from IO Sets which are used more by players (e.g., melee sets or ranged sets) are more likely to drop than recipes from lesser used IO Sets (such as sniper or taunt). "
This is specifically referring to drops and NOT random rolls. -
Quote:Whoa! Cool image. It looks like something out of 'The Cabinet of Dr Caligari' in sepia tone.On the other hand, this is what my laptop does when it starts to overheat:

Installing most of the stuff is dead simple. I could understand being hesitant about installing/mounting the CPU heatsink and fan. Find someone to help with that and watch over your shoulder for the rest of it. Next time you'll be comfortable doing the whole thing yourself.

And they should also be warned, for example, if they are working toward Vigilante and accompany you on a Hero mission, they will gain one step of HERO progress. This does not take away their Vigilante progress, but it DOES fill one of the five 'fame' bubbles that limit how many alignment missions you can do per day.
Oh, and Hi, Belle! How did that Abandoned Sewer trial go?

Yesterday was a Thursday and a lot of play gravitates to certain areas. On Infinity, there are always crowds in RWZ running the new Incarnate Trials.
Some of the more active/useful global channels:
Infinity Badges 2.0
Inf Badge Seeker
Infinity Hamidon
AE Anonymous
I got no clue about 'hot builds'. -
Quote:No, that's the whole point of getting as random a sample as possible. Every game has farmers and they pay the bills just like everyone else. I would think that 'regular farmers' (i.e. those that do it of their own free will) greatly outnumber the 'forced farmers'. And, by "free will" . . . the person who complains that they 'have to' farm in order to get the stuff they 'need' and how they hate farming . . . well, they're still choosing to do it and they represent a valid sector of the playerbase. How many if any of the 14,000 people they collected data on were chinese prisoners forced to be gold farmers?
If the people they gathered data from were randomly chosen then their data would be skewed by the fact that a certain percentage of their group doesn't react the way legitimate players would.
The same applies to 'MMO addicts' who wreck their lives. Every game has some. The goal here is not to characterize 'valid' or 'appropriate' play styles. The goal is to analyze the playerbase AS IT EXISTS without applying value judgements about how people play. It's not a psychological study. It's a business study to help the MMO designers rake in more money. -
Quote:Of those four: meh, meh, meh, Hancock wasn't bad and I'm a big Will Smith fan.Off the top of my head, I would put The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Fantastic Four 2 or Hancock on that list before I ever considered Watchmen.
Rocketeer was pretty good. If I was composing this list, I would never have included it, though, because I never thought of it as a 'superhero' film. -
Sounds like a bug. I've only downgraded once, but the new salvage appeared in my list instantly. I would file a bug report describing what happened and ALSO file a petition to see if they can replace the lost salvage.

Quote:Everyone is reading WAY too much into this part. However, to be perfectly clear: We are not currently planning another name purge in the near future. There are reasons for this, which I am not at liberty to discuss at the moment.
"This name issue generates almost as much nonsense as server merge threads. The topic is off limits!"
"Okay, I'll just say we're not at liberty to discuss the matter."

Quote:But it's not the trivial matter you're claiming, either. Or, at least, IT MAY NOT BE. You don't actually know. You're basing your entire argument on the ABSENCE of evidence/information. This is faulty reasoning. You make various assumptions about what people would do and how they would react. Since the scenario you describe to support your point did not occur, you proceed to draw conclusions. You claimed they would outraged and might cancel their subs if they came back and found their names were taken. Well in order to do that they would have to reactivate their accounts. People with active accounts can post on the forums. So if they were as pissed as you claim they would be then the first thing they would have done is post outraged threads on the forums demanding to know why their names were gone. It didn't happen. There was no outrage voiced by returning players after the last two times the script was run.
So it's quite obvious that it's not as big a deal to people as you want everyone to believe. -
Not bad. The Swedish Chef was the only part that actually got me to laugh.
-
Apparently, having Blade II on the list.
Watchmen certainly belonged on the list.
I'm okay with most of the list. I think Iron Man should have been higher. I think The Incredibles was worthy of the top spot.
