Just because Mass Confusion is in the tier 9 spot does not mean it is intended as a direct replacement for a pet. Mind Control is balanced against the other sets as a whole, not power-for-power in order.

Everyone has different preferences. Play what you like. And if you like Ice Control and Electricity, have you considered making an Ice / Electric dominator?

Blind is a great power, but mostly for its single-target aspects. Forget about the extra sleep effect and just use it for holding and (if solo) containment/damage. Every once in a while you will put an extra enemy or two to sleep, but usually not. It doesn't pay to focus on that part of the power.
Good luck! -
A Fire/Storm controller should never have any problems with knockback: Fire Cages, in addition to immobilizing and setting up containment, makes the enemies (effectively) immune to knockback for ten seconds. Your Tornado and Lightning Storm can eat away at the enemies, and they won't move an inch.

Healing "mitigates" the ability of damage to cause you to die, which I think could quite aptly be called the "force" or "intensity" of the damage. Obviously "damage mitigation" is not the perfect term for this -- perhaps "death mitigation" would -- but it is a common term, and commonly includes healing, so let's take it as it is and move on please.

Radiation in comic books has nothing to do with radiation in real life. Radiation in comic books is a "generic mysterious energy", and is as often beneficial as not. If you over-analyze this game, you'll notice that the heroes causing cancer with radiation, sucking out souls with dark powers, causing collateral damage with fireballs, shooting innocent bystanders with indiscriminate machine gun fire, and looking just plain ugly with spines, are more of a menace to the populace (and probably a greater cause of death) than the villains, who really just want your purse.

If you switch CoH's resolution, you have to restart it. I had CoH in windowed mode, and was switching my Mac's resolution. This somehow confused CoH. If you're not switching your Mac's resolution, or not running in windowed mode, I don't know what's causing this problem for you.

A similar argument from the other side:
Why do I have to press the Howl and Scream buttons over and over? They're on this frequent, every-few-seconds recharge, as if the game wouldn't know I want to shoot my opponents as frequently as possible. Why can't I just hit the "shoot stuff" button? It seems like this combat is written more for a computer than a human being.
The fact of the matter is, many people like blasting more than they like buffing. They'd much rather use this game to express their dominance over the enemies, rather than their support for their teammates. This is what causes these complaint threads. But, frankly, I like teamwork, I like buffing my allies, and I enjoy the part of the game where I can click powers and help them out. I like blasting, too, mostly for the AoEs. I actually find the single-target attacks boring, because I have to use them to plink-plink-plink away at the last one or two stragglers in a group. Different people enjoy different parts of the game. Just because clicking one type of power isn't your cup of tea, doesn't mean it's broken. Even the powers you do like are of the form "click click CLICK CLICK KEEP ON CLICKING OVER AND OVER". That's all this game is. There's nothing we can do about it. -
I'm guessing you like playing Masterminds and Illusion/Storm controllers, Zhao. Otherwise I'm not sure how you'd fill spots 2-8.

Careful, DasBert. Don't anger Doctor Grass. He might rick roll you to death.

Thankfully the trailer doesn't spoil the great climax, where the Mega Shark uses its patron power, Tsunami-Force Chum Spray, to take out the entire city of Manila.
Lusca may be starring, but Captain Mako was a technical consultant. -
I mean that there are some truths humanity is not ready to face up to.

But letting RPers tell us how things work leads to the "everything runs on catgirls" theory of the universe.

Why are you so sure? There's a lot of extra paperwork and legal red tape involved in hiring foreign employees. Not to mention the relocation costs are higher. While I do hope Paragon Studios are an accommodating employer in this regard, there are plenty of practical reasons they might not be.

Hmm... maybe I should do the same thing now.

The client from FTP works fine too. Sorry if this answer could have saved you some money earlier.

...and I was wrong. It wasn't the fullscreen/windowed switch. It was a resolution change while in windowed mode that caused the problem. I have to make sure not to switch resolutions while CoH is running.

Yes, the install process takes quite some time -- it not only has to install the game, it also has to make every change to the game that they've released since whatever snapshot the installer was built from. That can be quite a lot. For me it took something like an hour. Once you've finished, though, it shouldn't ever have to do that again (unless you leave yourself logged out for months and years at a time); most of the time it starts up quickly, occasionally it takes a few minutes to apply a patch, and rarely it takes a bit longer to install a whole new issue.

I got it partially figured out. The bug shows up if I switch from fullscreen mode to windowed mode before I have logged in to a character. I don't know at what exact point the transition happens, but if I log in to a character all the way (until the initial zone is fully loaded), then switch modes, everything is fine. I can even log out, switch characters, and log back in, all while in windowed mode, and my mouse keeps working properly.
I don't know why this is the case, but if it means I just need to spend a few more seconds in fullscreen mode, it's a workaround I can live with. -
At the time I had this error, I did not have any special mouse software installed. I have since installed Logitech Control Center... but it didn't make any difference. What's strange to me is how this bug wasn't present at first, and now is. I used the same mouse each time, and haven't run any software updates to change system software in between uses of CoH (though I should probably do that now to see if some driver gets fixed).

I use a Logitech Trackman Wheel (thumb-controlled trackball, three buttons plus scroll wheel) with my MacBook. The first couple times I ran Mac CoH the mouse worked fine. This time, any time I drag anything (click and drag on a window, or any time +mouselook is on, such as with the default right mouse button binding) it drag for about a quarter of a second, then the mouse cursor jumps to the top of the screen (and either the window follows or the camera spins into the sky, staring at the ground).
Has anyone seen this behavior before? Any idea what might be causing it, or how to fix it? -
What leads you to believe that it might not be treated seriously?

There are many, many bugs in the game, some years old. Furthermore we do not know how hard it is to fix the bug you are experiencing. If they are not addressing this problem, it is entirely possible it is for a good reason (addressing other, older, or more common bugs). On the other hand, the devs may well be addressing this bug as we speak, but it may take a long time to find the problem, figure out a solution, implement it correctly, test it, and release it. As a software developer myself -- responsible for software which I know has years-old bugs that I just do not have time to fix -- I can tell you that as much as it sucks, you just have to be patient with software fixes. There's no quick way to fix everything.
