  1. Okay, now THAT was impressive! Last night our core team showed up to give Reichsman another spanking. Unfortunately, everyone else in the Rogue Isles seemed to want to take on Statesman so we weren't able to pick up any DP straglers.

Being the less than cautious group that we are, we decided that we would take on the Cuda SF with a team of four, yes that's right FOUR dual pistols toons. Did we die a lot? Heck yes we did!! Did Reichsman beat the living crap out of us? Repeatedly and without mercy. Did we give up and go home with our tails between our legs? HELL NO!! Through the employment of a bit of strategery (That word is the best thing George W gave this country) and quite a large dose of insanity (repeating the same action expecting different results) we did defeat the Reichsman and completed our four man Dual Pistols Barracuda strike force.

Great work Aestra, Vigil Ante Up, and Brave Starr. That was quite an accomplishment.
  2. Sorry I'm posting this so late, but between RL and reading up on CoH: Freedom, I totally spaced on letting everyone know what we will be doing tonight. I considered the LRSF, but honestly, I would prefer to wait until at least most of us have some incarnate abilities to throw around before we tackle that. That being said, I would still like a bit of a challenge so I would like to run something I have not had the opportunity to run before. So, tonight at 7:00 PM Central, we will be running the Barracuda Strike Force in Grandville.
  3. If you really want to entice free players to upgrade to VIP, you must call the VIP server...

    BACON

Free Player: Hmm, which server do I want to start on? Liberty...eh, Freedom...meh, Justice...maybe, BACON!?! HECK YESSS!!!!!
CoH: You must be a VIP Subscriber to access the "Bacon" server.
    Free player: WORTH IT!!!
  4. I think having a section of the forums for free players to access and contribute to is a great idea. The strongest part of this game is the community, and the free folks need to experience that in order to be enticed to hand over thier money.
  5. I think the VIP server is just a way to appease the folks who cry about sharing their game with free players. It gives them a place to go and talk about how much more awesome they are than every one else. I welcome the new folks. New free players=potential subsciption players=more money for Paragon Studios to make more awesomesauce.
  6. My prediction is that the elistist snobs will migrate to the new VIP-only server, leaving the kinder side of the Freedom community here at home. I would rather share a server with a host of newbies that a group of elitists any day.
  7. It's already been mentioned, but I would like to recommend 3rd Rock from the Sun. John Lithgow may be the funniest man to ever be on television.

Also, another vote for Boston Legal. It's not a comedy exactly, but full of comedic moments.

I assume this is what you meant to say, but in a temporary moment of particular grumpiness you resorted to less than savory phrasing. No worries, it happens to all of us.

To this request, I would echo much of what has already been recomended. Joining the server's global channels is the best way to find non-AE teams. I rarely, if ever, see people advertise in global channels for farms. Also, Atlas Park is where the vast majority of farming takes place, so venturing to other level appropriate zones and looking for teams may be beneficial as well. Freedom has a very healthy population of folks who prefer to avoid AE, myself being among them.

Welcome to the game and the forums!
  9. I was almost embarrassed for Reichsman after he went down so fast. Six DPs and one stray dominator finished the Kahn TF in 23:50, my best time ever.

After two amazing weeks of DP destruction, I am feeling very cocky. Next week's WST is the STF, and LRSF. I have never actually run the LRSF, and I would like to do so. Can we handle it?
  10. I can say as a relative newbie, that I found CoH to be very new-user friendly. Prior to this game I had never touched an MMO and had played very few computer games (I'm talking minesweeper, solitaire, and that's about it). It took a little time for me to figure out how enhancements worked, and to get the feel for the auction house, but all in all I feel like the game does a good job of explaining things to new folks. That, combined with a very helpful and friendly community, made my early CoH days simple and fun.
  11. After our absolute domination of the ITF, I am feeling rather confident in our abilities these days. Tonight at 7:00 PM central time, we will attempt the Dr Kahn Task Force in Founders Falls. Reichsman is a tough nut to crack, so bring your big guns.
  12. The first time I attempted this TF, it was on our all Dual Pistols team with a group of six if memory serves, and while we struggled, we were able to take him down. We all had great fun and enjoyed the challenge.
  13. Once again, it seems real life is getting in the way of my game time. I will make my best effort to be home on time tonight, but I can't guarantee it. Even so, let's plan on meeting in Cimerora and tackling the ITF again. Same time, 7:00 central. Hope to see you all there.

    looking to solo

I have soloed a broadsword/shield scrapper to lvl 24 and the ride has been a blast so far.
  15. If you looking to stay on a theme, you could go with an elemental trio. I second the notion of cold domination. Perhaps a fire/dark corr to round out the trio?
  16. Really sorry about last night. My wife and I had a minor dog-related emergency that we had to tend to right away. I spoke to Brave Starr later on and he said they did wind up getting a team together a bit later than usual to run Sutter. Sorry I wasn't able to let anyone know ahead of time that I wasn't going to make it. Real life happens.

We will get back on track next week. I'm going to hold off on deciding what we run until they announce the next WST.
  17. Tonight, at 7 PM Central Time, we will be running the Admiral Sutter Task Force in Independence Port (lvl 20-40).

Be there or pay the price...

  18. Yeah, we had a hard time with the final AV fight. Once we pulled Preatorian Duray under the overpass, we were able to dispatch him pretty easily. Primal Duray took a bit longer due to the constant teleporting, but we finally wittled him down. I'm looking forward to taking another crack at it.

Most of the Task Force Commander requirements are sub 30. So there is that. Also helping anyone else turn vigilante, etc.

I didn't realize that defenders get a damage buff for small teams and an endurance reduction buff for injured players. But I tell ya, being Storm/DP, I'm not much of a healer. Handin' out aspirins.
Healing is over rated anyway. We have a thermal corruptor that does a good job of keeping us alive, but from all of the buffs and debuffs being thrown around, there is little need for heals. A stormie would be a welcome addition to the line up.

Next week we are going back to blue side temporarily to take a second shot at the Admiral Sutter TF since it is the WST. We have completed it once before, but not without a lot of frustration. We are all older with better builds and such so it should be a fun ride this time around. The min level is 20, so if you can get there by next week, we can hold a spot for you.
  20. We have a core group of 5 or 6 that consistently make it out each week and we are mostly in the 40-50 range. If you wanted to run a lowbie team each week, that would be awesome! I have a level 15 DP blaster that could use some playing time.
  21. I knew you would give in eventually. Yes, Thursdays at 7pm Central is when we normally run the DP team. Right now we are working our way through the red side strike forces so if you could level up and go vigilante, that would be awesome. My playing time is pretty limited here lately, but add me to global @Guardian Irish-Fury, and next time you see me online, shoot me a tell and I might be able to PL you a bit to help you catch up.
  22. Howdy partners! Tonight, Thursday May 26th at 7:00 PM Central, we will be running the Silver Mantis Strike Force in Sharkhead Isle. Fair warning, my wife and I got a new 8 week old puppy on Saturday so I may be AFK unexpectedly throughout the evening as we are trying to house train.

LOL! These are easily two of my very favorite characters and I am very glad you like them! Here's hoping one of them gets selected! Also, put me in the column for no rewards necessary. It is reward enough to even be considered. Pium's second outfit was actually the first costume I made for him and it is the one I prefer.
  24. I am not a seasoned vet by any means, and remember clearly how it felt to be new. I had a similar experience as you Traegus when I started out. Very helpful players and forum goers to answer every dumb question I had. As penance for my unintentional insult I will share an embarrassing
"newb" story. Keep in mind this is not only the first MMO I have ever played, but also the first non-console video game (minesweeper excluded) I had ever played.

Running around the Atlas statue platform I somehow found myself in one of the shallow pools of water. I ran back and forth trying to find a way out. After about five minutes another player my level comes up and asks if I would like to join a team. Since I was a trial player at the time, I said in local chat for all nearby to hear, "I would love to team up if I could figure out a way to get out of this pool." He politely explained that pressing the spacebar would allow me to jump and free myself of my watery confines. Lesson learned. I took some good natured ribbing for the folks nearby, but it was all in good fun.

Sorry, that was totally unrelated to the thread, but I felt the need for self-deprication.
