Btw Sunstorm, in case it isn't obvious enough yet ...
Knowing that we aren't screaming at maximum volume into an empty room anymore is a tremendous lift to morale in the Base Builder community. Seriously.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Now we get to scream at YOU
Muahahahahahahaha -
Q. The ruile that requires a room be attached to the portal can cause alot of headaches sometimes. Sometimes I am wanting to upgrade a room between other rooms and the portals but cannot do so under the current system. Is anything in the works to allow us to "store" a room to readd it back into the base later? Alternativly is the rule going to be changed?

Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
It will allow me to do more with limited resources. My SG's/VG's aren't exacly filled with people. I've long said that they needed to knock a 0 off of those prices so it's a step in the right direction.
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
Do I have a choice?
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
Hard to say with The Final Orders Base. I might leave the large rec room as is because I do NOT want to have to rebuild that even though you made the flaoting desks easier. At the same time I kinda want to take advantage of the new pathing rules. The telpoertation room is a bit of a headache... There is no real easy answer on what I should do. I can't put rooms aside for any reason so I'll just have to play with it. I'll problably have to devote a night to it. The Order of the BLue Crecent base will be somewhat easier as we haven't built it up as much. Again we will hve to try and rpeserve the teleporters somehow.
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
I think it is a good thing, It's a shame you can't automatically reprice what is already tehre though.
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
Short term it may create some headaches with rebuilding. Long term I'll be able to put more in on a smaller budget.
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
I do not like converting the salvage over. It means I have to put a tighter reign on all of the bins as I have to proect suddenly valuable salvage from theft.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
The only possible positive I see is the ability to pool Invention salvage for others to use. This is a small issue though.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
0 seconds.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
The enhancment bins are a heck of alot less usefull now. Plus I have to restrict access to all the bins now.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
Again Placing valuable stuff in those bins is a big problem. Especially since I can't set security by bin or even bin type -

Star Strider Force: Virtue
Name: Zambo
Global Contact: @Inquizitor
Reporting on Assignment: Historical preservation: Founder's Falls University Campus. 11/18/08 0200
Level of Alien Threat [High][Medium][low]: Low
Report Details: The University Campus has been secured with the help of the Midnight Squad. The following Exibits have been relocated for safekeeping inside a dimensional rift located inside the Midnighter club. All artifacts were cataloged through MAGI and several Knights from the Order of the Blue Crescent stand watch over the artifacts to ensure their security.
<ul type="square">[*]Several of the recovered artifacts from the Anti-Magical Harmony Inversion of 1937 [*] The treasures recovered from the tomb of 'The Frozen Leader' in Mexico.[*] Tablets containing a key to the Magubil language[*] Preserved US Civil War era Confederate Firearms including the Amulet of Bjeid.[/list]As these items were being transferred Talos Island came under heavy assault form the Rikti. Few Rikti strayed into Founders during this raid and they were detained almost immediately upon entering the area.
Analysis of Current Situation: The Order will contact nearby museums and attempt to place what artifacts we can into Secured Dimensional pockets. The Order will continue to stand watch in the Founders Fall Area as per the Strike Forces mandate of protecting sites and artifacts of historical significance. Furthermore emergency shelters are being set up to aid those displaced in this time of crisis. Supplies and trained Medical personnel are needed. Two shelters are being erected. The Small shelter is located just east or Williams Square so that people can find it quickly. From there they are moved to a facility North of the University. This larger facility allows the Order to protect both with little delay in response.
Suggestion of Action: The Order is ill equipped to protect advanced technology in a similar manner as the magic employed can cause interference within the sensitive electronics without extensive and sometimes lengthy testing. Untested equipment passing through the portals can cause irreparable and sometimes catastrophic problems. Given the need for urgency a more practical solution should be explored. These technological artifacts would likely be of greater value to the Rikti as they are more familiar with it. Steps should be taken to likewise move these artifacts to a more secure area. -
((No idea what your talking about and the lack of any kind of time frame is particularly irksome but anyway.))

At the 28 second mark you can kinda see teh shield charge. At least I think that is shield charge.
Also there were some very cool pictures of the elemental shields being used with the apropriate elemental melee power. Very cool looking. What exacly is going on in that last picture? It lookks like some kind of Rock cyclone!? (Second 41)
The Pain Domination ones look kinda meh to me. It seems to be alot of throwing your hands up in the air. reviewing it now. still kinda going meh over the actual look of it. -

Concerning the Combat Auras. Is that something we can put on our characters from level 1 or do we have to wait until level 30?

So your objection to the idea or no rewards in the player mission is based soley on the idea that someone else might do something that may or may not happen?
[/ QUOTE ]
...what?
[/ QUOTE ]
You are objecting to the fact there there will be no rewards in the player missions. A fact that we don't even know the details of yet but I'll get back to that.
You yourself admited that you would enjoy useing the system wiht you level 50 IOed character so you are refering to someone else.
You claim that this hypothetical person WILL not use the systems soley because It contains no rewords. Since the person is hypothetical the actions he might take is likewise hypothetical.
We don't know that there will be rewards, badges are eluded to, so the hypothetical persons actions is based on an event that may or may not happen.
To add further clarinty I'll add the conversation this is about.

I love in Posi's letter how he talks about 'rewards' for the missions created by the users. How it was bantered back and forth in the office with raised voices. I have a nagging suspicion this means no xp/influence/etc for these missions in which case. Crappy system and count me out. Not gonna bust my butt to create tons of missions that grant absolutely no reward.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then you missed the entire point of the mission creator.
[/ QUOTE ]
...and how do you know the point exactly?
Their are MANY factors and options that could make the mission creator a great success or an epic fail. I for one look at it as an "end game" option. I can spend my time trying out player created missions with my IO'd out lvl 50s that I spent so much effort creating....and there will always be new missions to try out. Endless content for 50s is good news IMO.
That said, other people will want other things out of it, and if it doesn't offer decent rewards....alot of people won't even bother doing player created missions. That would equal fail.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heck upon rereading that you are contradicting yourself between your two posts. On the one hand you will not create any missions that contain no rewards while on the other hand you are saying "Endless content for 50s is good news IMO." -

Ok. I have giggles over the prospect of Pain Domination. Just the idea of it. muahahaha.
My questions are more about the mission editor.
Will we be able to make custome bosses? Thus Would I be able to put an NPC version of one of my villains in the mission?
Will we be able to use the Mastermind Pets as an enemy group? They tend to be fairly generic sets that can fit in for stories that don't invilve any of the in game groups. -
I'm not a big fan of the forced teaming aspect of TF's to begin with. Can't we meet halfway somewhere? Maybe lower the requirements for TF's so you can do it with 4 people?
It would make things a great deal easier trying to coordinate 4 people together for X number of hours instead of wasting X number of hours trying to find that 8th person for an unpopular TF.

[general response]
Gah! So much "I don't like what's in it, so I think its not only a rip off but that no one else should have it!"
Holy dawg. You know what? The developers put stuff I don't give a damn about in CoX, *all the time.* This does not mean I think no one else should have it, nor am I going on a rant about how content I don't like is a "rip off," 'cause ZOMG! Ten bucks is the end-all, be-all of my personal universe! Or OMG! I had to pay a $15 subscription for the month they put in content I don't care about.... stop the presses! RIP OFF!
Let's get real here: you spend ten bucks in five minutes picking up your order at the local take-out Chinese place. Ten bucks ain't nothin'. It's chump-change. It's lunch money.
The best part is, if you don't like the pieces you don't have to give the developers your ten bucks. Win-win here, people. Never seen so much grief over cool new costume pieces since the recipe-debacle. [And this ain't that, so celebrate.]
Or don't buy the pack; whichever suits your fancy. Its a wonder the developers don't fling their hands into the air and shelve whatever cool thing they're working on next, in a fit of pique. I would not blame them if they did, no matter *what* they do its DOOOOOOOOOOOM!
[/ QUOTE ]
Ten dolloars is a days worth of meals. not lunch money. If your the sort of person who routinely flushes ten dollar bills down the toilet then your not the kind of person resonable people can relate to anyway.
Up until now Costume pieces and emotes were part of the normal content we have added now and again. Now they are wanting us to pay 10 dollars (which costs about half as much as most full fledged expansions cost) on 2 costumes and 4 emotes. There is nothing overly special about these as compared to the Jester and Enforcers sets.
Next month are we going to have a couple new niche sets for ten dollars? what about next month? Are we going to have to pay 50 dollars for Issue 12, which will have way more features than this pack will? If you answer noo then explain why not. Using the word Precident will invalidate your answer.
I won't be getting it. IF it was cheeper I might see my way towards grabbing it. 10 dollars may not be a whole lot of money in the grand scheme of things but I don't reoutinely go around paying 10 dollars for a 20 oz bottle of pop either. -
Its just so completely overpriced for what it is. I look at it and think $2.99

Last year: The Valentines day bug (which haunts us still today)
[/ QUOTE ]
What bug is this, exactly?
[/ QUOTE ]
Last Valentines, for reasons that has never been explained, The servers began sending 2 to 3 times more infomration than normal. The net result was It would bombard slower connections to death.
The closest they came to even addressing the issue was to stop zombie from wandering around in Dark Astoria This fixed a symptom of the actual problem but failed to address it. After all. Zombies wandered around before valentines day in Dark Astoria.
It's a bug that most people on DSL don't notice unless they look for it. The problem has become increaseingly worse even for some high end users though as more stuff is added. Wentworths, A Rikti Invasion, Scrapyard. All of these can peak 16k incoming if you hit it at the wrong time. -

So what is it about Valentines day and CoX? For the last three years there has been something new introduced that seems specially tailored to annoy people.
This year: a $10 package with very little highly specialised emotes/costumes in it.
Last year: The Valentines day bug (which haunts us still today)
The year before that: Costume options were made avaialble for inviting x number of people to play. (They corrected this misstep last year)

You can still go to the wedding event without spending a dime
Other than that, it's a V-Day event for your alts.
Edit: the special add for this year's V-Day event is the wedding. The Wedding Pack will be available indefinitely - but it made sense to release it during the romantic season.

I can? they moved it to Friday? -

I am not sure i understand. Can these new costumes also be earned by doing a special mission like the V-Day missions? Or they can only and only be earned by spending real money for them?

That's funny., You accuse me of not reading a post ... and then, to defend that accusation, you fail to read a post. You know, the very FIRST sentence after the big, bold, yellow "standard response" title:
"There are many flavors of this sort of suggestion, and I'll try to answer each one in kind."
It's a pre-packaged "one size fits most" response, that covers all four of the most-popular varietyesof PvP-and-PvE-mixed suggestions. Part (3) is the one that (obviously) addresses the bit I was responding to, because that part of hte OPs idea directly suggests a way to opt out of PvP despite being in a PvP zone.

That explains alot. Too bad your premade responses had nothing to do with his post. -

Nobody wants to see Heroes get shafted. But a 60/40 balance, or a 75/25 balance, still gives heroes plenty new to do and helps fill the obvious, glaring gaps in CoV.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen you bring up this point before(and I think I agreed with it too initially, I don't now that I've thought about it). Please explain to me how in the world giving about 1/3 of the game's population more content than the other 2/3? How would that make financial success? It seems to me that splitting the content 50/50(even if you don't like the content or how some of the missions are worded, it counts as content), like the have been doing recently, is the best course of action. Now if they do almost half and half then add a feature or two for villains each issue(Epic ATs, a new TF here or there, etc) that would be good for them as well.
But to even suggest that villains get 3 times the new content heroes do is absurd. Please explain to me how that could possibly be a good idea for NC Soft.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your not giving One third of the population more content. about 99% of the population has access to both heroes and villains. All giving a 60/40 or 75/25 split would do is beef up one sides play making it more attractive.
