  1. Hello.

I am trying to refine the build for my Fire/Fire tanker (now at level 15) and wanted to know if Tough is a topmost priority or if it can wait for some levels.

I have two different builds: one has Tough at level 16 and the other at level 32. Will I be much more durable once I have Tough?

After leveling a boring but resilient Invulnerability tanker up to level 28, my Fire tanker feels somewhat squishy and I think Tough should be a must... but in the other hand I try to tank a lot of enemies (too many) at the same time. The lure of having them all around me and fry them with Blazing Aura and Combustion is... well, difficult to resist.

I wish some experienced Fire tankers could give me their advice regarding this.
  2. My Grav/Kin, Quantum Singularity is also sitting at level 8 waiting for tonight. If necessary I don't mind to be sidekicked, but that outleveled Frostfire sounds really good

Then... do we met somewhere or we just log and say hello in pwntrollers?
  3. Sign me up, please!

    My chars:
Omega Stryker - Lvl. 40 Warshade
Fyrefrost - Lvl. 32 Fire / Ice blaster
Mind Nova - Lvl. 35 Mind/ Empathy controller

You can distribute them among the three runs as you see will be best for the teams.

    See you at Katie's!
  4. wait for me! be there in a sec!
  5. Then it is today, in Union, at 18.00 BST (GMT+1).
    Channel: pwntrollers

    Spirit: Mind/FF
    LeonHart: Undecided
    False_Fiction: Ice/Sonic
    UnknownWarrior: Earth/Sonic
    Ilusionist: Ice/Kin
    Lady_Darkforce: Grav/Rad
    Firekitty: Earth or Ice /Sonic
    Empath: Mind/ Rad or FF
    Nightmare: Ill/Kin
    Inercia: Grav/Kin

Should we meet in the tutorial?
  6. Reading the descriptions, I kinda like all the powers in the */Fire part...
Well, I will have to skip something because I'll need to fit in the Fitness pool, Kick and Though from Figthing pool, and some travel pool... that is 7 powers.
Plus 7 more from the primary (all but RotF and Temperature Protection).

I guess I could skip Fire Breath (not very easy to use a cone if you are in the middle of the mob)... this would leave me with enough spots to pick a couple attacks from the epic (Fire, obviously, for concept).

I need all the Fire sword attacks for concept, too. My Fire/fire tanker should be a heavenly angel of fire... yes, with veteran angel wings, sword, godly beauty (feminine of course)...
    Am I original or what?

What is GDN nerf, by the way?
  7. Is a Fire/Fire tank very bad?
    Is it out of fashion?

I ask because I habe been unable to find a guide or some example build for this power combination in the EU boards. I admit I haven't searched a lot but…

Anyway, would like to know about the best attacks in tanker's */fire. maybe I can give it a go...
  8. Is there still room for my japanese Grav/Kin? She is about to complete the tutorial and head to Atlas Park. Her name is Cosmic String.
  9. Hiya...

My character, dark/dark defender is in the upper range, level 28... Depending on the level of who else joins, we could sk up the lower level characters.
On the other hand, I have a level 22 MA/Regen scrapper that could ding 23 easily in a couple mishs in Faultline, in the event that we do this TF in the lower range...
Anyway, I would like to do it earning some xp in the process if possible.

    Whatever team finds is better.
  10. I am trying to modify a bit the build for my Fire/Ice blaster and need some information and advice.

Currently I am trying to decide between Flame mastery and Cold Mastery Epic, though my character is only level 30 (hey, I plan very ahead)

I would like to know your impressions about Bonfire.
Is its knockback good as a protection?
    Does it affect most enemies?
Is it very annoying for teammates?
I think I havenever seen this power in action...
The recharge does not look very long and the redius is pretty big...
I already have a knockdown power with this character, Ice Patch from secondary, which is a power I love and enjoy very much...

Also, from Cold Mastery I am considering Snow Storm, because I think the -recharge is really a very good damage mitigation for all team.
I already have two -recharge powers: Shiver and Chilling Embrace.
Would the three of them be overkill?
Is there a cap for the -recharge effect?

Regarding the armors from both Epics...which one is better in your opinion?

I am pretty much decided to go Flame Mastery, because of the ranged hold that Cold Mastery lacks, but maybe the other powers make Cold appealing, I don't know...

Anyway, all advice and info will be welcome!

PS. Do not tell me "go look into Nofuture powers guide", because I already did. I do not need hard numbers info. I need to know the "feel" of those powers, something that maybe only someone that has played them can provide...
  11. Would like to join this one too.
May bring Black Soul (lvl 28 Dark/Dark defender, for xp purposes) or Omega Stryker (lvl 40 Warshade, for thematic purposes).
  12. Please sign me up with Mind Nova (lvl 35 Mind control /Empathy controller) and Omega Stryker (lvl 40 Warshade).
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Problem with empathy is you will lack the extra control from your secondary and there's just too many good powers in both primary and the secondary to make you a viable controller or empath...very hard to be both

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a Lvl 35 Mind/Empathy controller and, though it may be hard in the beginning, you can pick most of the powers. So far I have all the powers in my primary (except telekinesis) and all in my secondary (except Absorb pain and Regeneration Aura). I plan on taking Adrenalin Boost at 38.

All those plus Hover+Fly, Hasten and Stealth+Grant invisibility. The trick for that many powers? No fitness pool. It is possible with IOs and some well-placed End reduction.

I do all the teammate buffing before the fights and act mainly as a controller during fights, but can also be a "healer" if the emergency arises. It is a very very active character to play, always something to do, some enemy to control, some damage to deal and some teammate to buff. Not a good toon if you are lazy.

To be honest, it can even be stressful.

  14. Thanks all for your answers.

Black Mage: yes, I know Nofuture. It is one of the sources of the discrepancy I mentioned. Nofuture is "Red Tomax's guide". And it is the one with the correct data, btw.

Wilfred: I thought that "critical controls" in which the magnitude is incremented were only possible for controllers. Good to know that defenders can have them too. In fact, looking again at Nofuture's data, seems obvious that defenders can have them too...
  15. I have found a discrepancy between the data in Paragonwiki and Red Tomax's.

The magnitude of the Fearsome Stare power (from Dark Miasma) is 2 or 3? In short, does it effect lieutenants?

(Paragonwiki says it is 2 and Red Tomax in Nofuture says it is 3)

As I am not at home, can't test that so if you can answer quickly I would be very grateful. I am planning a build and, though I have the power, I can't remember...

    Thanks for your help!

You have flares as power? There you got your free spot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Flares??
    Are you kidding!!??

    [ QUOTE ]
Shivers, another 'too situational' power that i never took and probably never will.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shiver I think is great, and not only for me, but for all team as it reduces incoming damage a lot. If enemies attack, let's say, 75% as fast, that is 25% less damage.

My AR/ice dropped CE to get frozenfist/ice sword combo, has stamina, hasten, aid self (and SS as travel), also icepath, chillbain and the hold power. My nrg/ice still have CE, aid self, stamina, fly as travel, hasten, entire Epic ice pool and a nice powerset from both sides.

It really is possible to fit all in, you have to pick powers you never use (or hardly) to drop and only put those in wich you actualy gonna use.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, my planned build you can see here:

    FyreFrost.

    1- Fire Blast
    1- Chillblain
    2- Fire Ball
    4- Ice Sword
    6- Hasten
    8- Fire Breath
    10- Hurdle
    12- Aim
    14- Health
    16- Build Up
    18- Blaze
    20- Stamina
    22- Ice Patch
    24- Super Speed
    26- Blazing Bolt
    28- Shiver
    30- Chilling Embrace
    32- Inferno
    35- Freezing Touch
    38- Hover
    41- Epic 1 (hold)
    44- Epic 2 (shield)
    47- (??)
    49- (??)

As you see, I have two spots available, the problem is they are 47 and 49...

Only power I really don't use much is Chillblain, but I can't get rid of that...
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Personaly i would pick aid self way way way way before i even consider taking RoF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, OK... but the problem really is that I like my */Ice secondary powers so much that the sooner I could pick medicine anyway is... let's see... 47 and 49?
And at those levels you always team anyway and there is a teammate that can heal you way better than medicine pool...

Only previous powers I could even think about loosing to fit Medicione pool would be Chilling Embrace from Ice secondary (planned at level 30 in my build) and Blazing Bolt, the snipe from primary (which I picked at 26). But somebody should present some very solid arguments to convince me that aid self is better than those powers.

Man, in this game all builds are very tight... except those that do not require stamina.
  18. Hello, I recently found fun again to play with my dark/dark defender and, as he is nearing level 32, I want to plan ahead the best slotting for Dark Servant.
Somebody told me that Fluffy really doesn't need Acc enhancements as he is very accurate. Then, what is best for him: heals, holds, to-hit debuffs?

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Isn't that a bit dangerous for a blaster?

[/ QUOTE ]Danger is a secondary concern, what you should focus on is damage

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I focus on damage.
I focus on staying alive so I can keep dishing out tons of damage. A dead blaster dishes no damage at all and makes the floor look dirtier.

So RoF is good… damn! I hoped it was bad and si I hadn’t to include it in my build. That is my goodbye to the medicine pool, then. ( Sigh… if I didn’t need stamina…).

I guess a good Shiver with slow enhancements followed by RoF will be nice though.

In my opinion /fire is better AoE madness than Fire/ so if you want AoEs and control its better to find a primary with the control and take /fire than go Fire/ and find the AoEs

This is purely based on what I think is fun and not any hard numbers. Combustion and Fire Sword Circle are lovely, slap on a couple of damage auras, slow them, burn them and get back your used end. Of course none of the above would be half as fun without Ice Storm

    [/ QUOTE ]

But, but... but then you need to be in the middle of the baddies to use your AoEs!!

Isn't that a bit dangerous for a blaster?

I really respect blappers (heck, my 50 is an Energy/Energy so I blap a little myself) but I enjoy range a lot more. And die a lot less.

With aim+BU+firebreath+ball of fire I can deal enough carnage to kill most minions and leave lieutenants severely damaged. And then blaze and ice sword do the rest, with the ocasional fire blast to finish some bugger.

On the other hand... is Rain of Fire actually good? I have read that it scatters mobs a lot, but if you tell me it is worthwhile, I'll try to squeeze it into my build and definitively forget the Medicine pool...

... and Fire / Ice is an AoE monster with a bag of tricks. Try it!

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, /Ice has so many AoE damage powers...No, waitasec...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Obviously I meant Fire/- is the AoE monster and -/Ice the bag of tricks. Works for me.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I like both my Archery/Devices and my Ice/Fire builds, and I've been trying for a long time now to find to find one combo I liked and in the end found too,

Archery/Devices is a bag of tricks waiting to happen

Ice/Fire is an AoE monster (built the way mine is)

    [/ QUOTE ]

... and Fire / Ice is an AoE monster with a bag of tricks. Try it!
  23. Need help!

I have a new blaster, Fyrefrost, which is Fire / Ice (curiously a very synergic combo).

So far I am enjoying him and he is level 25 (double xp weekend really helped a lot).

But I do not know what to left out of his build so I can squeeze in the Medicine pool.

I post my planned build up to 50 here, and I hope you can provide some advice.

    FyreFrost.

    1- Fire Blast
    1- Chillblain
    2- Fire Ball
    4- Ice Sword
    6- Hasten
    8- Fire Breath
    10- Hurdle
    12- Aim
    14- Health
    16- Build Up
    18- Blaze
    20- Stamina
    22- Ice Patch
    24- Air Superiority
    26- Fly
    28- Shiver
    30- Chilling Embrace
    32- Inferno
    35- Freezing Touch
    38- Blazing Bolt
    41- Epic 1 (hold)
    44- Epic 2 (shield)
    47- Epic 3 (??)
    49- (??)

As you can see, I don't have space for the two powers (Stimulant, Aid Self).

My goal is to include them as soon as possible in the build (doing so at level 47, 49 doesn't really serve much purpose).

You know if I have choosen a power that really is not needed/good? Because all of them sound nice to me... I do not PvP, only PvE and prefer teaming, though I solo a bit from time to time.

My first thought was to not use the fitness pool, but my blasts and AoEs consume a lot of endurance, so it doesn't seem a viable option...

All help will be really appreciated.
