  1. There is also the "New Reply" button at the bottom of the page, below-right of last post, to use when you want to give a general reply as opposed to replying to a particular post. It will take you to the full edit "advanced" reply box.
  2. I agree, it used to annoy me, but now it's become an automatic habit...

    Open Friends list
    Choose Global friends
    Sort according to Shard

I have no idea why it doesn't "remember" how I "always" have it set...
  3. If you just don't want to deal with their spammy in-game e-mails, you can set your e-mail options to "friends & supergroup only" in your options menu. You can also set it to not receive any e-mail at all.... personally, I find that a bit too limiting.

If you want to participate in aggressive pest control, you can use the "spam" button in the e-mails. When used enough, the account that the e-mail came from will be banned/deleted. Just be careful not to use the spam button on legit e-mails from friends!
  4. Bah! I always forget this one too.

It's such a simple one, but it just doesn't stick.

I think it's because the command is labeled "afk", when you're not really afk, but just paused for typing... and the auto message that pops up when you really are afk says "afk"... but they're not the same thing, even though they're kinda called the same thing, but they're not....

It's confusing, so I keep forgetting it.

Glad there are plenty of other folks who have better memories than me.

I like the name of Dies Irae. Like it very much as it is apocryphal and my character, Samson Moses, embodies the qualities of the Giver of Law, Moses and the Inhumanly strong Judge of Israel Samson. What buly fun to have a Biblical supergroup without the posturing or sermonizing.

I am unsuccessful in getting supergroup members at my level (Currently 30). I want Blasters and Scrappers, a Defender and another tanker.

I want a supergroup of heroes who can work well together and work for the good of the supergroup. They can work independantly or as a team. I have an empty baseplot and when the budget allows for phase one construction ( power installed and medical and workbench rooms established) is completed , my supergroup members can build their own lodgings (within budget).

I have built bases for Champions the rpg, not the online system but nothing like what is available for COH. My supergroup members will provide input as to what is required for the base and their own personal habitats therein.

I am a retired State Supervisor (meaning I am not 20 years of age!) and enjoy City of Heroes as i am somewhat Home Bound.

I am also about 16 degrees of plumb, have a well defined sense of humor and really enjoy City of Heroes.
    (puts soap box away)
    I thank you.

Clarified because in CoH, there is a difference between team and supergroup.... a big difference. Not trying to be nit-picky, but it helps if everyone is using the same terminology, so we can help each other out.

Teams are small groups of folks (8 max) that get together to run missions, sometimes they are in the same supergroup, but not always. Teams are often short-lived, spur of the moment or singly specific goal focused (task forces/raids), groups.

Supergroups are groups of players that play together often enough that they want an identity of their own (and a base to store stuff, transport, heal, & socialize). Supergroups can have 150 characters, often the alts of several players, at various levels. Supergroups often have longer term goals in terms of earning prestige & badges to improve the functionality of their base.
  8. Rangle is older than Flea, but not as old as OP.... I am a bit younger, but not as young as some folks might guess. And that's all I'm sayin'!
  9. I was LOL-ing pretty good while reading this.
    Obvious, but well written joke.

    "Not in the face!"

  10. A sortable list would be great, like the global friends list. Sort alphabetically, by size (#members), & by prestige (because some folks do care about that).

List only the SG's that have opted to be "open", then have a "contact leader" button that would send an automated message to the red star leader saying that someone is interested in joining.
  11. There was some speculation in that other thread that Castle was referring to the long-hinted at revamp of the Cathedral of Pain. I agree, though, that we're not likely to see anything about it until after GR, or even after i19.

I think it would be nice if it was more functional than just having the one TF... y'know, for us non-raid SG's.

Best of Luck with that, sincerely.
  13. You need to lay out a layer of cabinets/desks on the floor tile first. Be sure to check the bottoms by angling your camera view from the bottom, some of the long cabinets do not have bottom textures, and look a little odd from underneath.

I like to lay them out so that their texture will create a pattern. You can also use the small bookcases if you want a super thin/fine pattern, but you will need many more of them to cover the area.

Of course, by doing this, you will be taking up at least 3 ft of space just for your floor... so you may need to take that into consideration to leave headspace if your floor is set very high to the ceiling.
  14. Are you getting a "can't unstack item" notice in your chatbox? (to see your chat while in edit mode, just hit "c")
If this is the case, then the item in question is under another item, sometimes having even a tiny bit of the blue bounding box under something will cause an item to gain "stacked" status.

As Pyber said, you will need to grab the item and drag it into another room for it to become "unstacked" so that you can delete it.

This has always been part of the stacking quirk with desks, even before the raid pathing was removed. The old "magic desk" way of stacking required that you build a big platform of desks, then set the stuff that you wanted to float, then remove each individual desk from the top layer of your platform into another room.... talk about tedious (and yes, many of us still did it).

Most arboretums are quite large, and are usually focused on the preservation and cultivation of a variety of botanical species.

    LA Arboretum
    Dallas Arboretum
    US Arboretum

Though, I seem to recall seeing some smaller arboretums set up like fancy greenhouses in a smallish park.

And Turbo, What did you use for your waterfall texture?... a banner? it's quite clever.

Mr_Body has given a good summary, but I'd like to expand on these points.

SG2. You will notice that there is a shiny new red star in the rankings. This is the top dog, the head honcho, el heffe, the one with the power over all. However, the red star CAN FALL TO ANOTHER toon in the next rank down if the Leader does not log in before the set demotion time period. The star will go to the toon with the most seniority who has logged in within the demotion time frame. If nobody in the second rank fits those criteria, it will go down to the next rank, etc., until it falls to someone that does. This was done to prevent an SG from becoming completely leaderless if the "Leader" went on hiatus for an extended time.

SG3. To set storage unit permissions: You need to be on a toon that has edit privileges. You do not need to be in edit mode to edit permissions (actually, I think it only works OUT of edit mode). Open a storage unit's window like normal, and click on the new permissions button at the top. Set permissions to give and take according to ranks. You will need to do this for each storage unit individually (inspies, enhancies, salvage). If you are planning to share your stuff with your other toons, make sure they have the correct rank to take, or set up a special unit with looser permissions to accommodate them.

Speaking of storage: You may have noticed that the salvage racks now hold regular invention salvage (base salvage is obsolete), and have a limit of 30 items. If you have a salvage rack that is loaded with old base salvage, there is a way to convert it to invention salvage. It goes something like this: base salvage --> brainstorms --> invention salvage. Check the conversion recipes on the small enhancement crafting table. READ THEM CAREFULLY. You will get different results for each recipe, so you will need to decide which ones are the most cost effective and suit your needs.

Most folks have left their legacy racks loaded and only convert on an "as needed" basis, since you will be able to take from the rack, but you will not be able to add back into it until the load falls below the 30 item limit.

I apologize if this is all redundant information, but if you weren't the one managing the base before, then hopefully it's helpful now.

    tombstones

Isn't there also a smallish stone pedestal/book podium in the arcane tab? It might be a bit tall on it's own but, like the chair idea, it could be buried a bit.

    Is there a way?

click, place, click, place, click, place....

that's it... as far as I know.

When you are in the editor, there are a few different "modes" to edit in. They are represented by the buttons on the bottom editing bar. When you are in "place item" mode, there should be a small window with a graphic that shows shaded & unshaded sections. They represent the levels that your ceilings, floors & walls are at for a given floor area in your room. You can make adjusments by clicking on the sections in that little window to raise or lower them, or to even wall up an entire floor area.

As for stacking/floating, I personally prefer the Accent Lamp + Floor Tile method....
    1. Place Accent Lamp,
    2. Intersect Floor Tile (the big one in "Room Details") with Lamp and slide the Floor Tile up or down the Lamp to desired level.
    3. You can stack the Accent Lamps on top of each other to get more height if you need.
    4. Place whatever you want on the Floor Tile... when you move the Floor Tile, the items will remain floating.
    5. You can even lay out floating Floor Tiles for creating second floors/stories... Set the Floor Tile to the level you want, and remove the Lamps... the Tiles will remain floating, and you can still place stuff (desks for flooring) on them, and remove them later...

As has been mentioned twice already, you really should take your tech questions to the Tech & Bug Forums. All the great geeky tech heads hang out over there.

But before you post over there, you may want to take some time to go through the "Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines" that's been stickied over there. They will most likely ask you to post a Hijack This report so that they can better assess what your problem might be.

I know it can be frustrating when the game doesn't run nicely, and you want to play. But to get the help you need, you need to go to the right kind of help. We're mostly a bunch of "Average Joe Gamers" over here in Player Questions, just like you.
  24. For the last few days, I've had to login twice to get into the forums.

At first, I thought I was just being sloppy with my password, but I know now that is not the case. I've been very careful with typing it in, and the login screen still hangs and then does not log me in. It always takes on the second try. This has been a consistent pattern. Clearing my cache has not made a difference. Any ideas on what could be going on?
  25. didjya know....

You can find out what those x-mas prezzie inspies do?

    1. Drag the inspie into your chatline like you might do for an enhancement or recipe to create a link. Hit enter for it to show in your chat window.

    2. Click on the link that now shows in your chat window. An info window should pop up.

    3. Go to the details tab to see what that inspie does.

You may notice that the inspies actually have different names in variations of "Holiday", "inspiration", and "Present"... once you know which names do what, you won't need to go to the details tab... just put them in your chatline to see the name, then arrange them in your tray as desired so you will be able to click the one you want at the right time.
