They did mention they had the beacons, but it's also important to remember that the beacon style must match the 'porter style... ie, arcane to arcane.

You can place double beacons if you want to "mix it up". We have the arcane beacons for our arcane porters hidden, and have placed the tech beacons to be visible... so it seems as if the tech beacons are matched with arcane 'porters, but they are really just for show.

    Exactly.
    All of this.
  6. I'm kinda wondering if GR took up so much time & energy, that any actual planning for HeroCon kinda... well... slipped through the cracks. Remember, even though GR+i18 are coming up soon, that's not really the completion of the GR project, there's still incarnates to work on.

I'm wondering if somebody looked at the workload and said, "there's no WAY we're gonna be able to fit in a Convention of our own... crap! whadda we do now?".

So, someone else says,"well, we have time slotted to go to these other conventions already, why don't we just piggy back some M&G's?"

There are advantages to "going on tour".
    1. There is the possibility of reaching more players.
    2. They can market the game at the main convention
    3. Hopefully the players will also attend the main convention & help spread the word about how cool CoH still is.
    4. It will save time and money. I don't know if they can write off the expenses of putting on their own convention, but I believe vending at an established convention is tax deductible.
It does seem a rather abrupt change in plans, but I just kinda wonder if this is a compromise to a sticky situation all around.
  7. "Fixing" a "mistake" without actually testing the "fix"?
If you're gonna fix something, then fix it right.
Fixing something halfass, and saying "oh, I'll fix it again later" is just ...
    Bad form, Castle.
    Bad form.
  8. If you are teamed, you can enter the team leader's base (if the team leader is of a SG rank that allows it).

But a trial account cannot actually join a SG as a member and obtain base access in that manner.

Leastwise, that's how I understand it.
  9. If I understand all of Master Blade's explanations in the other thread, this is basically a side effect of UM.

It has to do with the resolution being raised, and how it translates with the resolutions you (the many "you", including me) are using in-game. They are not playing together nicely.

They did not actively reduce the size of the enhancements.
Neither did they actively do anything when the side effect was pointed out to them repeatedly in beta.

This is a case of one thing WAI but adversely affecting another thing that is also WAI. In this case, two rights are making a wrong. The new shiney is not so shiney.

This does need to be addressed. It's not just some minor inconvenience, it directly affects our play when we place enhancements at levels we may not have intended.... all because the numbers are insanely illegible.

    Adjustments are justifiably called for.

Perfect Storm and others have mentioned a problem with accounts being hacked if you've played one of NCSoft's other games... Aion, I think, was vulnerable to being used as a "back door" of sorts for hackers. It couldn't hurt to double check, jus' sayin'.
  15. This bug hit me last night while I had my chat up in base edit mode. In hindsight, I realize I missed an opportunity to test it further by popping out of edit mode, sorry.

    Here's what happened with me.

    1. I'd send a tell, which the other person would see & respond to.
    2. I'd be able to see their response, which was immediately followed by a second auto-response saying they were hidden.
    3. I asked if they were hidden, they said no, they were soloing a mission.
    4. I asked if they were getting double responses from me, they said no.
    5. The double responses from them continued through the rest of the conversation.
Again, I'm sorry I didn't think to test it further, I just tend to get a little obsessively focused when I'm base editing.
  16. Have you checked your NCSoft Master account?
It might be a "disconnect" if your e-mail doesn't match up.... just a thought.

... added so that it auto responded that way when your chat was actually hidden (ie when on enhancement screen, tailor, ID, leveling, respec, ect)
    Dude, re-read the OP

It is not happening when on some other auto-hide screen. It is happening in the middle of conversations.

It is NOT WAI, as support has already indicated to the OP, the dev team is aware that it IS A BUG.

OP is looking for a workaround of some sort until this BUG is squashed. Unfortunately, I don't know of one.
  18. BTW all, if you have screenies of uglified base items, please post them in the Ugly Base Items thread in the Tech & Bugs forums. Let's not allow this to fall through the cracks.

Computer C: Custom Built; Athalon 64x2 3600+, Nvidia GEforce 7300 GT, 2 GB RAM, updated Windows XP

Using Comp.A as the "control" with UM settings on and off, Comp.B with UM settings on, and Comp.C with no UM settings.

Baseline: Most base items look fine, some even better with UM...

    Comp.A. UM settings ON:

    Comp.B. UM settings ON:

    Comp.A. UM settings OFF:

    Comp.C. UM settings OFF:

However, Some base items have been severely UGLIFIED:

    Comp.A. UM settings ON

    Comp.B. UM settings ON

    Comp.A. UM settings OFF

    Comp.C. UM settings OFF

If, at this point, you're saying to yourself, "But those pictures don't really seem all THAT much different from each other"... well, that's exactly my point.

I'm not talking about the sharpness of the images, or the crappy jpeg resolution, or even basic differences in camera angles... I'm talking about the pixelization and lack of shadings.

No matter the rig/setup or graphics settings... Certain base items look absolutely hideous now.

Curious about the bug, but if it's a detrimental exploit, it's probably best to keep it off the list so as not to advertise it. *thumbs up*

    Mid's Question

I was not looking for answers from St0n3y in particular... Though my thanks is definitely directed to him, the questions were open. I figured they were questions that anybody who uses the program might be able to answer.

This is where the general populace of CoH players come to ask questions. Since many players use Mid's, it's logical to come here to ask questions.

I prefer to come to these forums, because this is where *most* of the knowledgeable CoH players congregate. I do not care to run around to a bunch of different sites to find answers, when I can come to the one place where I know most everyone will be.

    Why belabor this point?

    Sunken City Base

Very nice use of overall room lighting to create the "underwater" ambiance. Also, good job on using the "stand alone" lights to brighten your interiors.

I'm looking at using the same technique to split one big room into two different looking rooms... hopefully.

    Mid's Question

Are you guys seriously giving me grief for coming into the forums I prefer to frequent and asking a question?

    seriously?
