- I know my own fallibility. Though many of my friends consider me morally "old fashioned", I know myself well enough that under certain circumstances, my temper would just get the best of me.

- Corruption. I have no faith in the current legal/justice system. Actually, I don't have faith in any legal/justice system... there is just too much political corruption worldwide. In this sense, I agree with others who've said it would be nearly impossible to be a hero as defined in the OP.

- Grudges. Yeah, I carry 'em. I'm the kind of person who tends to gnaw on a bone... at least for a little while.

Quote:This ... lol ... expl... lol... lains.. soooooooooooooo much. ROFL... I've had to debug code like that. It isn't pretty. Fixing code like that tends to break things when they are removed because other coders borrow that code for other things and they don't document what they've used. Add employee turnover and it soon becomes easier to make something new rather than change the problem that was causing the issue....

Quote:Okay, I thought it was a fluke when this happened to us on a LGTF before GR came out (8/13, after the pre-patch, before release).... upon exiting, the mission reset on its own. Confused, we tried clearing it again to no avail. The mission appeared to be infinitely resetting on its own for no apparent reason.
As is apparently fairly standard procedure, we had the leader standing "at the door" (by the contact) while we ran the first mish. Finished the mish, hit the blue exit button, stepped outside... to see that the mish had reset itself. The Leader hadn't even talked to the contact yet. We ran the mish again, and the same thing happened. We ended up quitting/disbanding and restarting the TF. We ended up running the TF bringing the leader into every mish, even the ones we stealthed.

I brought this up during testing.
If you click on the "tell me about sidekicking" info linky, you'll see that the entire script for sidekicking needs to be re-worded to reflect the new super sidekicking rules. -
Snow, you don't present your opinions as opinions, you present them as arguments and factual statements. I've told you this before.
Nobody got on your case until YOU started getting argumentative. YOU came in with an argumentative attitude.
When you present your opinions in such an argumentative and defensive manner, how else do you think people are going to react? So I took your own format, your own style, and tossed it right back atcha... and I see you didn't care much for it. That should be a clue.
As to my "agenda" for personal apartments, it is merely a counter-suggestion to YOUR "agenda" for new lounge zones... which you have repeatedly put forward in several other threads.
. -
Quote:Yeah, not so much.it doesn't mean that I was wrong in guessing their motivation.
Thing is, Snow, you keep presenting your guesses as statement of fact. You don't know what the dev's reasoning is any better than anyone else, so get off your freaking "all-knowing" high horse.
Quote:What, that allowing cross faction use would break things? I've brought that up several times, and every single time somebody brings up the RP argument.
You KNOW it will break things? How so? I think "standard code rant applies". I don't think I've ever seen you explain it mechanics-wise. Usually YOU are the one bringing out the RP/Storyline argument to back this up.
Quote:So what? Losing Hero/Villain merits isn't that much of a penalty as players will either pick them up on other characters and send the results to their "active" characters or ignore them completely.
Quote:What are you willing to give up for opposite faction base access?
Quote:That sympathy doesn't extend to the bases though. What you are asking for here can be done without touching the base system at all.
I've never really been much of a proponent for personal apartments in the past, but as I've said elsewhere, I think they might be an interesting solution to fill the gaps. They could be a scaled down version of bases, maybe a specially flagged plot size that allows for limited storage, travel, crafting & empowerment.
Pros:
- Uses a feature that already exists in game.
- Provides an equal benefit for Vigilantes, Rogues, & Praetorians.
- Adds additional opportunities for new content to be developed by the developers. Also adds opportunities for dev's to give the players something they've been wanting for years.
- Provides RP'ers another option for character immersion
- It's not Snow Globes idea

Quote:I have made this point repeatedly since they reduced the salvage rack capacity back in i13. At that time, we were told that it would be re-evaluated after a while... it's been a while... a looooooooonnnng while. It's kind of weird that salvage storage is only as big as your own personal salvage capacity - with badges and the vanguard bag, your carrying capacity actually ends up much LARGER than the storage. That doesn't make any kind of sense and it really limits the usefulness of the storage banks.
Quote:I say make it at least 2-3 times larger than it is - enough so that it will always be able to store much more salvage than you can carry on yourself.
Quote:In addition to that, there should be a recipe storage bank as well, for holding on to rare recipes that you plan on making later, without having to use up a market slot or risk accidentally selling them by carrying them around with you.

The way I see it, when it comes to gameplay, more OPTIONS are always a good thing.
Here's the beauty about having multiple options: you can choose not to use the ones you don't feel the need for. At the same time, other players have the choice to play the game how they like. Much like power proliferation or customization allows flexibility in creating interesting and unique characters. Isn't that nifty?
A good RP'er will use the options that appeal to them, while ignoring the ones that don't. But if someone can't get around the very existence or contemplation of other options, they are not that good of an rp'er to begin with. Using storyline or rp to justify a lack of gameplay options for other players is just not good game design.
The beauty of CoH/V is the abundance of gameplay options. It allows players to create their own stories. Without OPTIONS, this GAME would just be "City of Script".

Quote:Really? Is that how it works in the AE?Because at the moment, supression either turns a power off, or merely makes it have no combat effect. If it was the latter, it would still have it's gFX/sFX
Honest question, I don't go there much, but I know there's an area that supposedly suppresses ones powers.

This was the comment that Positron made in the Razer Q&A:
Quote:Now, the question was clear, and the answer seems to address the question...[Comment From tomzak tomzak : ]
can heroes and villains be in the same super group?
Positron:
Not yet, but we're re-looking at how to make that happen, because we know a lot of you are asking for it. Don't want to break the game to make it happen though
BUT as many of us have learned by now, interpretations can get skewed... IOW, I suspect Cende's interpretation might be closer to what Posi was intending to say.
We shall see... we shall see.
Oh... and...

heh... happened to me too the other day ... shows ya how long it's been since I actually started up a new group.

I'll start with one of those obvious "doh" things.... Is the toon you're using to do the promoting at the proper rank/setting to do so?

For extra tricky-ness, try creating a spiral staircase with the balcony corners: use a cubicle + angled wall light... remove the cubicle & stick the balcony to the wall light for 30/45 degree angles. The real trick is getting the inside points AND the rope railings to line up nicely.

Quote:I am actually grateful for their vigilance. My bank (a small CU) called me after we got back from a vacation in another state, asking if certain transactions were valid. I half expected it, having been through it before with them... I was all ready to say. "oh sure, we went to Washington to visit family"... until they said, "Did you recently pay for a taxi in POLAND?"...... As far as your concern about a profile on you, I have had similar things happen with online banking or shopping with a credit card. They just get a little weirded out when folks make dozens of purchases from the same IP address/physical location and suddenly make a purchase across the country, or similar. ...
... errm.. "no. I don't even have a passport (yet)".
Thing is, my friend also had her card number stolen so, since we shop together fairly often, we compared our receipts. We suspect the Wal Mart around the corner from us.
Unfortunately, ID/CC fraud is so prevalent, over-vigilance has become SOP. With such a large business like Pay Pal, I can see how getting the personalized phone call is a little unlikely ... but I'm glad you were able to get it resolved.

I heard this mentioned in one of the global channels last night.
I sense much grief to come.

Psi/Em is in reference to a character's powersets: Psionic/Empath would be my take on it. I think that's a controller combo...

I have to say, I lol'd a lot ... just because of his presentation. Even his down points were delivered in a humorous fashion... which tells me that he probably actually had a lot of fun with it.
I thought his reasoning for picking Dual Pistols was telling... because he thought it would be easy to figure out... I can see this thought process happening with a lot of FPS players. Unfortunately, Dual Pistols is NOTHING like FPS... at least not right off the bat. It takes a little more figurin' out than the average FPS/Pistol/Gunfu game.
The criticism about the inability to adjust screen graphics before entering the character creator is a good point.
The comment about the "standardized" instances is something to take note of. Praetoria is still new, and us long-time players have seen the other tilesets in PC & RI. So WE know there is more out there, but I can see a new recruit getting bored with the "sameness" of Praetoria.
The "run around/talk to" mishes have been a long standing player complaint. We really don't like them much.
The inconsistent AI: either they run away "to get a soda", or they stand around to pummel you when you try to rez. Can't seem to win for losin'. The run away chicken-s*** AI is, IMO, the most annoying.
I've always thought the base/mission/WW/Pckt D animation was waaaaaaaaay too long. As a continuing player, I shrugged it off, but I can see a new player thinking "wtf?".
And LOL at the attempted suicide jump.
Things he seemed to love:
- The character creator,
- the beautiful graphics,
- the enhancement system,
- the action (even at lvl 10),
- the "moral" choices.

I'm running Firefox, and occasionally, over the last week or so, I've logged in... even received the "greeting"... got to the main listing, and had to log in again... because apparently the boards were just teasing me.

Quote:It was described quite clearly what the pre-order/pre-purchase customers would get or not get when the option was presented. Many of us opted to wait so as to optimize our spending dollars and get the whole shebang all at once.Nevermind, they answered it:
What kind of crap is that? People are paying already for the expansion, and now CoH wants them to pay for the additional expansion items????
That is a total complete rip off. If I'm misunderstanding this, please let me know, but right now I'm thinking other games are looking much better now.
Consider this: What about the people that preordered thinking they would get ALL the GR content? That's called Bait and Switch and it is illegal.

Read the description, hun.... it's just the small items (costumes, emotes, etc.,.)

Hey, whatever works for you, all the power to ya.
Personally, we have 6 salvage racks arranged alphabetically; A-C, D-F, G-L, M-Q, R-S, S-V (there's a little overlap with "s"). We tried doing it broken down by common/uncommon/rare, but ended up just doing a lot of back & forth between racks as we tried to find the salvage we needed for recipes.
Since there is such a tight limit on salvage space, we have a "3 of each item" limit. If there is already 3 of something, store it in your personal salvage, sell it, use it for an enhancie, or for a temp power from the empowerment stations.
Since there is at least 3 times as much space on the enhancement tables, it's more efficient to craft & store enhancies. We have 5 tables for regular IO's sorted by level (10/15, 20/25, 30/35, 40/45, 50) and one table for the set IO's (leaders only). Occasionally I'll go through the bins and "group" the IO's, so even if they aren't exactly alphabetical, it's easier to spot what ya need. This actually works fairly well since our SG is a small group of players with severe altitis.
We also have 3 inspie bins and a vault, to bring our total storage units to 15.... just shy of the 18 units per base cap.
