    fix't that for ya.

I found that it did indeed look crappy without ultra mode, because I had an older graphics card that I was unable to run water settings on very high.

Once I got my new card (thanks to hubby for the b-day present), I was able to run the water settings higher, and the slow fields do indeed look much better.

The crystals, on the other hand, still look like crap.

A popular theory that some have proposed boils down to "coding".... they are deathly afraid to try to "untangle the christmas lights".

But that doesn't make it any less necessary for doin'.
So, we keep track... as best we can.

  3. It can be daunting at times.

I don't know exactly what you are trying to accomplish, but here is a handy guide for small base options/setups.

If there is a particular decorative look you are trying to achieve, let us know and maybe we can come up with some ideas for ya.

Also, you may want to add the BaseBuildersInc. (include the period) global chat channel to one of your chat window/tabs in the game. It's great for "on the spot" questions and feedback.

  4. I was not "yelling".
The giant green letters are links.
I always make my links bold and green. Always.

I was simply trying to make the point that the "hoarding" logic does not stand up, and we should not use it as support for change. And bringing it up time and again as the "explanation" lends it credence instead of bringing it down. You do not need to "explain" anything to this group. We have heard all the explanations, we know the arguments inside and out.

Don't get me wrong, here. I think it's great that you are encouraging "outside the box" ideas and brainstorming. But we really don't need the "explanations".

    This.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and give them the benefit of doubt.
    It WAS educational.
One comment even said that someone had found a stray that did this, but didn't know why (and that the stray lived for a good long while).

Since it is so rare in cats, it's important to let folks know it can happen... there may be more out there that have been misdiagnosed, or even put down as "defective".

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the one kitten's death had anything to do with his "fainting" disorder. The respiratory problem could have been completely separate and unrelated.

Hoarding is a NON issue. The argument does not hold water, it's a fallacy, completely bogus.

If you, or anyone else, want to see base salvage change in ANY way, we need to put this argument down! The very fact that we are now allowed to e-mail salvage to ourselves blows this argument out of the water.

I'm aware that personal storage increases as you level, but the thinking here was that an upgraded SG vault creates a storage slot bonus for every member, leaving the communal storage as is.
    This makes more sense.
But I am still of the opinion that they should raise the capacity of salvage racks to be on par with the rest of the base storage tables/bins.

Maybe earning each type of buff for different achievements and to keep the abuse lower it could be tweaked to keep the buff effect for an hour, but maybe you could only use it once every two hours like the Mission TP power. Or maybe it's a tiered system - it lasts for 10 mins when you first earn it, by further sg achievements you could work it up to an hour?
No no no... do NOT remove the stations or nerf them in any way!
The whole benefit of the empowerment stations is that you can CHOOSE which empowerment you need for any given situation.

Also, the stations are already tiered in such a manner that not only do you need progressive amounts of prestige (you have to craft each tier) but you also burn progressive amounts of salvage... you know, the same salvage that people like to use for their IO's and are reluctant to put into group storage...

People simply need to be reminded that those stations are there for the GROUP members to use... and that they do last for an hour, not the 15 min.s that is stated on the recipes.

So, without getting off topic, lets address storage in the vein of an SG focused reward.

...Now, we know every person has a personal vault. We also know that salvage racks hold exactly as much as a personal vault.
    Not entirely true.
The capacity of the personal vault increases with the level of your character, up to at least 50 items.
The capacity of the salvage racks is 30 items, period.

As mentioned, personal storage already expands with the level of your character.

OR, They could simply increase the capacity of storage racks to 100, to be on par with the rest of the SG storage bins. The 30 item limit has caused SG's to be more restrictive with their salvage permissions. Increasing the capacity would allow for more flexibility for SG's to set up storage racks according to their group's needs ("community" racks & "player" racks).

I do like the idea of somehow using the new Tip Mission function for SGs. As you say, there does need to be some kind of Group AND personal reward for doing them. Players have a hard time justifying spending their time "unlocking" something for the group, when they could be working on their builds, or inf, or merits, or AE stories, or some other more personally tangible pursuit.

It is irrelevant whether or not a "multi-architect" base is "decent".
    That is a subjective judgement.

The point is to get more people interested in this aspect of the game.
    That is an objective pursuit.

    This is a good question.
Along the same line: What if the Praetorian is one of the "first 15" in an SG? Do they get the "first 15" 20k bump or the "new Praet" 100k bump?

Spammers are getting bolder. I have my e-mail settings to "friends & SG-mates only". But just a few days ago, I got a TELL from a spammer while standing in Talos WW. I'm so glad the devs found a way to enable copy/paste a little while back... made it that much easier to send "documentation" right in my petition.

  15. For future reference, this is the case with all base crafted items, as well as your veteran rewards (posters, weapons, fliers).

  16. Bases:
    • Raids were disabled
    • Raid "pathing" was disabled. The result being that lots of things can be more easily manipulated for architectural purposes.
    • Storage racks were nerfed to 30 items.
    • You can now set permissions for each storage rack/unit individually
    • Base salvage is obsolete, you must now use invention salvage to craft base items. (There is a "brainstorm" system to convert old base salvage to invention salvage).
    • There is now a single "top dog" leader for SG's. There is a red star to designate this rank.

I think this is the kernel of why this isn't my most favorite idea ever.

It feels too much like... City of Sims, or Super Civilization, or WarStaff II, or... you get the idea.

CoH is about teaming. It's about missions.

I would rather see Supergroup/Base content be focused around the Group and teaming.

I think the re-vamped CoP was a step in the right direction. It requires a small group from an SG to host the event, but it is also open enough to allow our solo coalies or friends from other (smaller) SG's to join and earn badgies.

if a SG member is on line, and not on a mission, have the base raided by NPCs, where as the warning bells would go off and the SG has to rush back to the base to defend it from the intruders, maybe make it something similar to a radio mission. At the same time this would allow the most ranking member/team leader to choose whether to accept it as a "mission" or not. (not sure if that was a coherent enough thought or not)
This concept has been bandied about several times. The sticky part is how to make it optional... some folks just aren't interested in raids in any form.

    .
  20. Take a look at this post from the stickied "stacking tools" thread. It might be helpful. You use the "hanging stack" like you would the floor lamp, and intersect the desired item like you would a floor tile.

I think someone mentioned a slightly easier way to accomplish it, but for the life of me I can't remember where.

    .
  21. Though Shadestorm brings up a good point in regard to "group content", it is quite evident that his focus is from a PvP standpoint. And there's nothing wrong with that in and of itself.

I understand that a lot of folks would like to see base PvP return, but we have to be careful about doing it to the exclusion of those who have found other uses for bases.

I think Justaris and Fulmens have hit the counterpoints quite well.

Could bases use some content/functionality luvin'? Absolutely.
Does the scarcity of content/functionality make bases useless? Absolutely not.
