This build is a little more expensive though and will take more time to accrue. -
here is what I have been working toward. I am level 44 and have most of this done (well not the health slotting) Nice thing about buying level 50 IO recipes is they are so darn cheap compared to those while leveling. Have all my Doctored wounds and Posi's waiting, for example.
my question: Is there any way of working in Eviscerate? Not dropping quickness, Aid self or the AoE def.

I am seriously considering dropping shockwave for evis. I like shock for clearing the mobs away from me, allowing me good time to Aid Self, not sure if its all that. -

Impressive Umbral. I like what you did with the IOs but this build isn't for the budget conscious. At least not in my budget.

I have always been a fan of Dark melee. unfortunately my DM is paired with invuln, which I never really got into.

How is Electic going to differ from fiery armor? Lightning reflexes seems nice and the tier 9 is even usable but other then that both are res based power sets? I have to admit my ignorance here.

Here is my Claws/SR that gets SR soft capped, just barely, but its there. There are some expensive IOs in here but they are for other powers, not defense wise.

But the types of characters that were using hammers are not blasters. Thor is obviously one of these 'iconic' toons, but he aint no blaster.
Man of Steel has similiar type of weapon, ball and chain, he aint no blaster. -

SR is nice because with the low end cost for Claw attacks, you get to have a decent end pool for all the toggles.
Lighting looks fun but I have a feeling it pairs better with something like dark for the great self heal, which you will need since you will always take some amount of damage. -
Question on market mechanics.
Lets hypothesize. If one of my toons has an item that another toon needs, i.e. Alchemical Silver, will this work?
The buying toon (the one that needs the item) posts a bid for lets say 3.
Then the selling toon posts the said item for a price of 3.
Will the buying toon get the item or will the item go to the highest bidding price no matter what? -

Why are you inviting all the mobs to congregate in an open area? Learn what corners are for.
And why are you only teaming with MMs? Funny how a well timed Immob does the trick in ROOTING mobs in place.

What is the best Defense IO set to use in all the SR powers?
What is the best least expensive IO set to use in SR powers?
Also my reworked slots with some of the IOs I'd like to get eventually. If I keep Weave and pickup Aid other/self I have no room for Hasten, and I am not willing to drop any SR but maybe shockwave for it, not sure, I did have to drop Eviscerate already.

great advice and it makes sense. This toon is actually 32 and is looking for a respec anyway so it makes even more sense as you described. I always do a safeguard at level 5 and 11 just for the temp travel powers anyway even with AE. Forgot about that.
I put in the +3% def steadfast IO and I noticed it isn't doing anything in mid's totals column. is that a known bug?
