Someone tell the tiger that movement is key in PvP.
-
It isnt, TK offers two things
1) It gives a mag 3 hold, this takes 1 BF, to get free from
2) You start getting pushed back, you will keep getting pushed back till you slam into an object. To stop this pushback you need 4 BF's to break free. -
Just one question hobo how are you staying out of range against a blapper with whirlwind without whirlwind in Warburg?
Still refusing to slot build up with tohit buffs, what about a forcefield MM with personal FF, or a defender/controller using it when his health gets low. What about hitting an eluded scrapper?, I can find lots of reasons and it isnt just those rare exceptions.
Edit: Even with my blaster im gonna slot both Aim and Build up with tohit buffs. 2 in each I guess. -
No its the load of holds fears, confuses, sleeps and so on Mind has. telekinesis is just a nice add on.
-
Energy is the best by far if you plan for PvP.
-
Depends on you primary and secondary. For most builds keep hasten.
-
That funny IMO the SR stalker set is the strongest in PvP. It lag alot in the PvE area compared to some of the other sets, where I think ninjitsu is the strongest, closely followed by regen.
-
If your a hero: kill any villain on sight. Those evil villains are debuffing our damage and defences and making it harder for us to fight, we need an edge.
If your a villain: Kill any hero on sight. Those bloody heroes are debuffing our damage and defences and making it harder for us to fight, we need to be able to splat em faster.
In Warburg, All the others are trying to get those nasty missiles you gotta stop em, they might use em on you.
Other than that be polite just like in PvE. -

Bah come to defiant to see the real PvPers
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL your PvP expert has Teleport, don't start.
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont have Teleport -
I find it strange mostthe powers you have mentioned is from the secondary. IMO that are defender powers.
-
I both agree with xanthus and dont, accrobatic is a nice to have power, but NOT needed. In the controller build I have looked at and tried to make there are so many nice powers that I never seem to find room for it. But if you find enough powers to skip, I can recomend it.
-
You should prolly skip hot feet. Its a very good power but your endurance simply cant take it. Consider taking ring of fire if you solo alot, as this is your only real damage dealer from the primary or going for air sup and fly or flurry and ss and respecing em out later.
If your making a team build go for something like this:
01) --> Char==> Empty(1)
01) --> Radiant Aura==> Empty(1)
02) --> Fire Cages==> Empty(2)
04) --> Accelerate Metabolism==> Empty(4)
06) --> Radiation Infection==> Empty(6)
08) --> Combat Jumping==> Empty(8)
10) --> Enervating Field==> Empty(10)
12) --> Flashfire==> Empty(12)
14) --> Super Jump==> Empty(14)
16) --> Swift==> Empty(16)
18) --> Cinders==> Empty(18)
20) --> Hurdle==> Empty(20)
22) --> Stamina==> Empty(22)
If you solo more I would go for something like this build
01) --> Ring of Fire==> Empty(1)
01) --> Radiant Aura==> Empty(1)
02) --> Char==> Empty(2)
04) --> Radiation Infection==> Empty(4)
06) --> Accelerate Metabolism==> Empty(6)
08) --> Fire Cages==> Empty(8)
10) --> Flurry==> Empty(10)
12) --> Flashfire==> Empty(12)
14) --> Super Speed==> Empty(14)
16) --> Swift==> Empty(16)
18) --> Cinders==> Empty(18)
20) --> Hurdle==> Empty(20)
22) --> Stamina==> Empty(22) -
Well after reading it again I see my last post was wrong, I was tired and on my way to bed.
You can get a small scatter effect if you use it before the mob and run past it with invis, but it isnt that much if you use other powers at the same time.
PA like I stated should normally be placed behind the mob your going to fight as this will reduce initial aggro on you team when they run in cause the mob is looking the other way.
I suggest you never use the run into mobs with invis and let the PA get the aggro unless you have used it on the former mob and they still have some time before they despawn as its much harder to control that aggro.
Here is a little tip when fighting next to an illusion controller, the PA can keep most of the aggro, but if your a blaster using those big AoE's you can get alot of aggro. But if you use mostly single target attacks and only go for baddies you can kill(eg don try to defeat that 3+ boss if you cant do it alone as you will just pull him back to youl), that PA will keep the attention of the others.
Speaking of illusions control part.
People often talk of illusion laggin control, this really isnt quite true. It looks much more caotic but I think only the illusion set can permanent keep an 8 man spawn set to unyielding or invincible occupied. Simply because the duration on PA is longer than any hold vs. 3-4+(except a powerboosted em-pulse and even then its close), and in the downtime use holds and other kinds of control. We do however lag control to gain enough containment. If only fear gave containment then illusion would be da uber. -

The Phantom Army can be a real lifesaver in the bigger teams. A HUGE mob or one with that much PSI-damage that your tanker is contemplating committing Hara-Kiri to save time. Sneak closer and use your Phantom Army in the middle of them(or use your army before and just run through but this can have very bad effects on the rest of the fight since it tends to scatter the mob).
[/ QUOTE ]
I have never seen them scatter the mob im fighting unless im fighting -10 or so. But I do think some of their inheirent punchwoke have been removed. But in combination with other powers it works good enough to keep aggro of your team mates. PA is the best power of the illusion set.
Btw its often better to use it behind the mob. -
NO all primary powers in the controller sets have their uses. There are just some that are better. Better is too strong, there are just alot of powers that are more situational and therefor not taken cause powers like hasten and stamina are generally more usefull. Sleeps are a good example. They have their use but is very situational.
BTW I would pick fallout on my ill / rad troller If I could find room. I would pick it before mutation and chocking cloud because its fun.
Vengeance (Another power that requeres a dead teammate) is extremely good. Teaming with the PD's have shown me that this power can keep others from gaining a similar cruel fate. -
Guess its time for Major Chill to come out of hiding and kick some hero butt.
-
PvP is much more about skill than lvl. Even with a bad build and DO's a good villain/hero can easily beat a lvl 50.
There are very few controllers who can lock down everything, these do quite well in PvP cause they have skill.
There are very few scrappers who can fight large spawns of 2-3+ baddies, these do well in PvP cause they have skill.
And so on.
People who are used to living on the edge of what his build can do, can survive and win against extreme odds. The same applies to PvP. -
It doesnt do anything, but I kinda like the bonzai.
-
1) There is there is alot of things that has -fly. Backup
2)It is much harder for melee toons to hit a jumping toon than a running toon.
3) Slows, most slows only decreases fly speed and runspeed, so I can still jump away.
4) I hate wasting a BF on immobilises. -
I am still an AV killer, I just have to bring lucks with ED.
I not that good at the control part( well I can keep people alive, I just dont lock down every mob). I can do some decent debuffing and swear at the team if they dont do what I think they should do. -
The only reason to why I gave up phantasm is cause its [censored]. I still have a semi build half PvP half PvE. I have more travel powers than needed in PvE, because movement is what keeps a troller alive in PvP.
I have hover, fly for the normal movement.
I try to keep my self in the air at all times cause its easier to stay alive there because I can move in more directions and most people dont look up. But I need a back up and that is Combat Jump and Hurdle(3 slotted).
My build is no secret and this is how I have slotted:
01) --> Spectral Wounds==> Acc(1) Acc(3) Dmg(3) Dmg(5) Dmg(5) Rechg(7)
01) --> Radiant Aura==> Heal(1) Heal(7) Heal(11) Rechg(17) Rechg(23) Rechg(25)
02) --> Blind==> Acc(2) Acc(25) Hold(27) Hold(27) Rechg(29) Rechg(29)
04) --> Accelerate Metabolism==> Rechg(4) Rechg(31) Rechg(31) EndRec(31) EndRec(33) EndRec(33)
06) --> Hasten==> Rechg(6) Rechg(33) Rechg(34)
08) --> Hover==> Fly(8) Fly(9) Fly(9)
10) --> Enervating Field==> EndRdx(10) EndRdx(11)
12) --> Radiation Infection==> LysosExp(12) EnzymExp(13) TH_DeBuf(13) DefDeBuf(15)
14) --> Fly==> Fly(14) Fly(15) Fly(17)
16) --> Swift==> Run(16)
18) --> Phantom Army==> Dmg(18) Dmg(19) Dmg(19) Rechg(21) Rechg(21) Rechg(23)
20) --> Hurdle==> Jump(20) Jump(46) Jump(46)
22) --> Stamina==> EndRec(22) EndRec(34) EndRec(34)
24) --> Superior Invisibility==> EndRdx(24) EndRdx(50)
26) --> Combat Jumping==> Jump(26)
28) --> Group Invisibility==> Rechg(28) Rechg(48)
30) --> Lingering Radiation==> Acc(30) Acc(37) Slow(37) Rechg(37) Rechg(39) Rechg(39)
32) --> Spectral Terror==> Acc(32)
35) --> Flash==> Acc(35) Acc(36) Rechg(36) Rechg(36) Rechg(39) Hold(46)
38) --> EM Pulse==> Acc(38) Acc(40) Hold(40) Rechg(40) Rechg(42) Rechg(42)
41) --> Power Blast==> NucleExp(41) Acc(42) Dmg(43) Dmg(43) Rechg(43) Rechg(45)
44) --> Temp Invulnerability==> DmgRes(44) DmgRes(45) DmgRes(45)
47) --> Power Boost==> Rechg(47) Rechg(48) Rechg(48)
49) --> Conserve Power==> Rechg(49) Rechg(50) Rechg(50)
EDIT: my build isnt perfect, there is a few things I would like to change. Like taking flash before lvl 35. and a few slotting changes. I could make a better PvE or PvP build but I wanted to be able to do both. One of my biggest problems was that I couldnt be asked to use the test server for 30+ hours to test my build to get it perfect. But I think my build is very good to a player with my playstyle. -
Secondary is somewhere between 75% and 100% of a defenders power, depending on the power.
-
I did!!!, try PvP and you will get hocked. PvP is like PvE - In bad teams it sucks and in good teams its increadible.
-
01) --> Spectral Wounds==> Acc(1) Acc(3) Dmg(11) Dmg(11) Dmg(15)
01) --> Gale==> Acc(1)
02) --> Blind==> Acc(2) Acc(3) Hold(5) Hold(5) Hold(7) Rechg(9)
Deserves 1 more recharge
04) --> Snow Storm==> EndRdx(4) Slow(15) Slow(17) Slow(17)
06) --> Hover==> Fly(6) Fly(7) Fly(9)
08) --> Superior Invisibility==> EndRdx(8)
You might wanna put 1 more end rdx in there, if your gonna use it alot.
10) --> Swift==> Run(10) Run(46) Run(46)
12) --> Hasten==> Rechg(12) Rechg(13) Rechg(13)
14) --> Fly==> Fly(14)
16) --> Health==> Heal(16)
18) --> Phantom Army==> Rechg(18) Rechg(19) Rechg(19) Acc(23) Dmg(23) Dmg(25)
3 Dam and 3 recharge is better.
20) --> Stamina==> EndRec(20) EndRec(21) EndRec(21)
22) --> Freezing Rain==> DefDeBuf(22) DefDeBuf(31) DefDeBuf(31) Rechg(31) Rechg(34) Rechg(34)
Remove some of the defence debuffs, and put an end red in there. Defencive sets like SR and Ice got a resistance to defence debuffs, and it doesnt matter that much in PvP.
24) --> Flash==> Acc(24) Acc(25) Hold(27) Hold(27) Rechg(29) Rechg(29)
If you dont exemp much, go with 2-3 acc rest recharge. And use powerboost before you use it.
26) --> Hurricane==> EndRdx(26) TH_DeBuf(37) TH_DeBuf(37) TH_DeBuf(37)
Hurricane could use 1 more end rdx, and you should take hurricane before 26 because of bloody bay.
28) --> Spectral Terror==> Acc(28) Acc(36) Fear(36) Fear(36) Fear(43)
30) --> Deceive==> Acc(30) Acc(39) ConfDur(40) ConfDur(40)
32) --> Phantasm==> Acc(32) Acc(33) Dmg(33) Dmg(33) Dmg(34)
35) --> Thunder Clap==> DisDur(35) DisDur(40)
38) --> Lightning Storm==> Dmg(38) Dmg(39) Dmg(39) EndRdx(42) EndRdx(43) EndRdx(43)
Change 1-2 of the end rdx to recharges.
41) --> Conserve Power==> Rechg(41) Rechg(42) Rechg(42)
44) --> Power Blast==> Acc(44) Acc(45) Dmg(45) Dmg(45) Dmg(46)
Powerblast deserves a recharge also.
47) --> Temp Invulnerability==> DmgRes(47) DmgRes(48) DmgRes(48) EndRdx(48) EndRdx(50)
Loose the end rdx on your TI, its low cost. And atleast 1 much go cause the return is way to low.
49) --> Power Boost==> Rechg(49) Rechg(50) Rechg(50)
Some thoughts
You should get steami mist. It will help alot against blasters and the like trying to kill ya. Its 20% res to fire/cold, energy base, that pretty good.
A personal preference, take conserve power at lvl 49 instead. So you take Powerblast, then TI, then Powerboost then conserve power.
