My thanks as well. I have two characters that alternate doing Tip missions with both random rolling. My experiences practically mirror yours Organica. It's nice to see it documented though. Much kudos to you!

This for me. I hope the level cap is never raised. Fortunately, it's doubtful(at worst perhaps) it ever will be.

A while back, I wanted a scientific theory. I was in a hurry, and bored, so I bid crept up to about 175k. There were 1800 up, none of them under 175k.

So I bid 12,345. And I waited five minutes. And I got a scientific theory for 12k, even though there were none for sale under 175k.

I was the buyer. I set the price. I got the price I set.
This has been brought up frequently, but what the hell....one more time can't hurt can it??

After my play session, I put up bids for all of the salvage I need to craft any IO's I have. I then log off.

The next day, after 99% of those bids fill, I craft and list my IO's. Probably saves me tens of thousands of Influence a day. After a few months, this adds up quickly.

You want to know something? The alt doesn't have a single set which costs more than 100M for the whole set slotted. I think the coolest things I have slotted are the numina and miracle uniques. You really don't need 2B IOs to do impressive things in this game, it just makes them a little easier.
    QFT

I have two characters specifically designed for merit gathering...one a single target boss/AV specialist, and the other an AoE monster. Both are fast and efficient, and neither has a single Purple or PvP IO. Yet. Personally, I've been random rolling and slotting expensive IO's such as LoTG +Recharges and a Miracle +Recovery....crafting and selling everything else.

For anyone who cares...one is a Katana/SR Scrapper, and the other is a Spines/Dark Scrapper.

Look for rare recipes that on the surface may not be worth much.....take Stupify:Acc/Stun/Rch for example. You can generally buy a recipe for under 100k and sell the crafted IO for 15 million. I sell 2-4 a day with this IO alone. A pretty tidy 12 million profit(at buy it now salvage costs) per IO. There are many such profitable little niches out there. That's how I really started getting some spending capital.

    Edit: Small typing error.
  6. Ahh, I see how I was confused. I always random roll, and had thought I'd seen only Mako's available..which is true...at level 50. Moving the slider down to level 35 showed the Kinetic Combats available(four of them, including the triple, and the knockdown proc. Thank you sir.

You can get Kinetic Combats with Hero Merits without random rolling? That would be very cool, because they're going for about 170 million a set...if you can find 'em.

Recharge is nice, but Willpower doesn't really benefit from it very much. The only click power in the set is unaffected by recharge enhancement (and global bonuses). If you get just enough recharge to run an attack chain, you don't need to worry about getting any more of it. You'll probably get more bang for your buck out of slotting for typed defense, Max HP, and regen (in that order).

That's just what I've found works best on MY WP characters, if you're happy with yours the way it is, there is no real need to change it.
    Yes, yes.......

The idea was to provide increased productivity at a low price. 400 Million to be precise. There is absolutely no way to do that buying Kinetic Combats, Eradications, and or Scirricos.
Easy for me, maybe easy for you, but certainly not on a budget. Please be a little more realistic in your responses to new players.

Edit: Hmm, looking at my own response, I think I came off a little too harsh. Definately agree with the sentiment Mr. Claws. Just would suggest some lower cost IO's, like Smashing Haymakers, Titanium Coating, Multi-Strike, etc...

Redraw adds time to an attack chain without increasing the damage of the chain.

DPS is calculated by dividing damage by time. As time increases, DPS decreases.

Possible exception: An attack that will cause redraw is so good that adding it and the associated redraw time creates a higher DPS situation than leaving the power out of the chain.

Example: It was my hope that a claws brute would be better off with the single target chain of followup, focus, slash, gloom, redraw, repeat than he would be with followup, focus, slash, strike, repeat. After calculating the DPS of both chains, I found my hope dashed.
This unfortunately. Not as noticeable on teams, but for solo play redraw is horrible......hell, even on teams, some combinations are terrible.

I think this is speculation to be honest. I don't recall a single Dev post saying this is the primary reason. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I think any and all missions should be able to be auto-completed. Many end missions that give rewards(merits, badges, etc) also have dangerous Bosses/EBs/AVs at the end. From a solo perspective, I'd just as soon auto complete those missions depending on AT.

This is a QoL issue, however. For me, it isn't a game breaker or I'd be long gone.

  13. For solo play the late teens can be a drag. Especially for melee characters. I'm thinking inherent Stamina will alleviate much of that.

For team play, Tankers have a difficult time until the early 20s. Some even later. They're pretty squishy until then. This is a generalization of course.

The problem is I don't know what possible archetypal association this could have. It might have to be its own special archetype, which creates a barrier to adding such a thing to the game.
This for me. One of my favorite Champions PnP characters did this very thing.....as well as having powers that debuffed enemies and added the powers/stats drained and adding to my own. Dr. Parasite was his name....I've tried to replicate him in this game, and a Kinetic Defender was the closest I could come. Just not the same though.

Same here. Not complaining though. According to the RNG I've had more than my fair share of Purple drops.

If you haven't already, pick up a copy of Freakonomics and Super Freakonomics by Steven Levitt(an economist) and Stephen J. Dubner(a journalist). It's described as melding pop culture with economics. Aside from being informative, it's really quite funny as well. Great books.

I just wouldn't give up on the marketing thing just yet. Everybody struggles a little bit at first, but then it goes very quickly once you get the hang of it. For fast turnover, start with something low risk like crafting common IOs, and as you start getting more adventuresome, go pick some viable yellow recipes (Crushing Impact, Doctored Wounds, Thunderstrikes). Even as often as those niches are published, they still make money.

Eventually, you'll get the hang of what sells, and what sits in your slots for weeks and you'll be able to narrow your investment. If you spend a lot of time offline or playing alts, you're at a decisive advantage over a lot players since you can simply wait it out for good prices (e.g., put in an absurd lowball bid, wait a week or more, and have it fill).

It's why I tell people to give the market is more casual friendly than most people realize. The casual gamer has the most decisive advantage in the Market because they are by circumstance the most patient.
The only thing I'd add to this is to make one of your high level, less played characters into a marketing character. Email some start-up money and simply use that character for your marketing needs. Spend 10-15 minutes a day putting up some bids/crafting/selling, etc and log off for the day(with that character). The next day(or two, or three) repeat the process. This allows you to put some lowball bids on recipes and salvage, and extra time for crafted enhancements to sell.

Edit: If you usually play offpeak hours, Justice is also a viable choice. There are quite a few Oceanics(if that's the proper term) who play on Justice. I have characters on Freedom, Virtue, and Justice personally. All of them have viable late night populations.

I actually enjoyed Battle field earth when i saw it because it reaches a point of being so bad it becomes amusing. The logical side of my brain stepped out for a smoke real early into this dreck so I found it ok. It's by no means a good film, just awesomely bad as VH1 would say.
Interesting viewpoint. And completely in the minority(not to mention completely insane in my own humble opinion). I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, but I think you need to understand that you are in the vast minority here.

RottenTomato has Disctrict 9 at 91%
Battlefield Earth is an amazing 2%(and is also considered one of the worst films of all time).

    IMDb:
    District 9----8.3(out of 10)
    Battlefield Earth-2.3(out of 10)

    Metacritic:
    District 9-----score of 81
    Battlefield Earth-------9

Battlefield Earth was nowhere close to awesomely bad in a good way. Hey, I love 'B' movies. You did use the proper word though in describing it....dreck.

He really reminds me of Superchum......

I'm not sure I agree with the OP though. As long as quality superhero or graphic novel movies come out, I think people will continue to flood the theaters. The superhero genre has survived some epically bad movies over the years, and still seems pretty strong to me. I think there's just enough interest in Hollywood to continue making quality movies for the genre to carry on for years to come.
  23. Two things for me. I either seed(twink) team friendly alts, or save for a rainy day.

I log in, check my traps, go do some stuff, then log out at the market.
Rinse and repeat the next time I get a few minutes to play.
This takes a few seconds per session.

The nice thing about the market is that it can adapt to literally any playstyle, from hardcore grind-money to extreme part-timer.
Fair enough. When I'm of a mind, it's the same for me. For the record, I'm(Me, Ignatz) simply too lazy to indulge in market use every time I play. Not even for a few seconds. I'd rather pound a few bad guys. For anyone willing to spend even a tiny bit of time, it's ludicrously easy to make money in this game.
