  2. Honestly, I've been really surprised there hasn't been a TV remake or a Movie remake of Magnum PI. Given how popular the show was at the time, and the fact that they've tried to remake everything under the sun, including Knight Rider, a show of the same era, I'm surprised this never came up as a remake or something.

It's natural progression for people who work on something for a long time, and WANT to do something new, to go and do someting new.

    A.) That's based on nothing.

B.) in order to be "again" , an Issue before would have had to have been Incarnate only. Now Incarnates only came out in i19 and even then there were arcs for other people, Villain side and Blue side got new arcs, so it wasn't incarnate only.

This is your response to what is essentially a love letter from the producer to the players, talking about how much they want to keep the player base the focus, give us what we ask for and giving us hints and previews of things to come?

Am I missing a joke or sarcasm here? The letter just said they were going to focus more on communication, more on being on the forums, more on giving us previews of what's coming and you're saying they are taking the focus away from the community?
  7. Between this letter and Jay's cryptic posts on some other forum that got ciculated here, I'm getting goosebumps, and VERY excited for the next couple issues.

Any did anyone else notice this?

That would seem that Issue 20 is going to have more than 1 incarnate slot opening up with it, and we're getting the Rare and Very Rare before issue 20. I'm pumped!

Nate has been my right-hand man on the development team during the past year, and I can’t say enough about how good of a Producer he is.

I also want to take this time to mention that I am moving over to a new role within Paragon Studios to the Business team. I’ll still be here working on City of Heroes (2011 marks seven years for me!), and I’ll still be accessible through the forums. I’m just stepping into a new role, and joining the “suits” so-to-speak.

Please join me in welcoming “Second Measure

Congratulations GF! You've earned it! Hope all goes well in your new gig and glad you'll still be around!

Something like Mids' "dynamic" mode would be awesome; you only change what you want to change, and everything else stays.
I think that'd be nifty, go into respec and have the option "complete respec" or "partial respec" in a partial one, you'd pick which powers you want to take out, or which enhancement slots you want to change, it'd remove them and let you reassign the power slot or enhancement slot to move and it'd show you the places available at the matching level to put it.

IE, I pull out full auto and I can now pick sniper or ignite instead and reenhanceit with the same slots or put my level 33-34 slots on a different power.

    That'd be pretty neat.

Now the rest of it makes sense too but can I ask, what does having chat windows appear in the costume editor have to do with respeccing?

That's more or less what I got too. The alien's perhaps Rikti, or a new alien? Evil khelds or something?

But even though that stuff seems to be in there, and perhaps some glowy bits too if you look at the bit about the neon, I don't "trust" it... It seems a little too obvious for Jay in all his Sexy glory and so I think there must be other layers going on there...
  12. Yeah I'm sure a lot of portals are big and round like that, but that one looks A LOT like the Coh ones, the portal, the room around it etc all look a ton like the CoH version.

Maybe they play CoH maybe they don't but that's very close to an IP violation if you ask me!

    Generic their portal, devs!

They tend to get saved for "that next big battle, which will be worse then this", even though a death now is just as bad as a death later. Only later I'll still have the Inspirations!

Inspirations are my one true OCD experience in this game.
Okay, so it turns out my OCD in this area isn't as bad as some, though I'm relieved to find there are others!

I just stack inspirations according to color and size. Smallest at bottom, biggest at top, all the greens in a row, purples in a row etc. Except if I have an awaken and a break free, I have an awaken on bottom, break free right over it, something else underneath them both. I won't keep more than one row of anything, IE if I have too many purples, I delete the smallest ones until I'm left with one column to make room for others. I will keep at max 2 columns of damages.

I'm OCD about other things too though. UI Set up, power set up, chat window set up. I have to have all my UI bubbles in the right places, all my chat channels in the right places. Except the powers in the tray, you can't tell one of my characters apart from the UI. Even with the powers, I have my 4th power tray with all my global powers, Booster powers, Pocket D transporter, base transporter ouroborus etc, set up in the same order in the same place on each character. In the early levels it bothers me to no end when that hole is there for the ouroborus transporter.

And after 6 years, (Well 5.5 or so for me.) I still LOVE flying in this game...

After the rumors of lay offs, haven't seen him post in a while, didn't see him at the bay area meet and greet....

Any who, I love the clockwork chest piece, it's one of my favorite chest pieces in the game, it's very versatile, it's sleek, it's shiny, its the epitome of a tech piece IMHO.
  15. Umm, I don't have the Master of Tin Mage Badge yet, I'm missing the dodger badge. But i've done the TF 4-5 times, haven't failed it yet. A couple took a while but we didn't fail.

Haven't failed Apex yet either, and that one seems to be getting easier as time goes and people learn it.

Tin Mage is bad, but no worse than STF or LRSF imo.

A couple of us were rather star struck. The first 10 minutes I was forgetting how to tank, forgetting to run toggles, forgetting that tanks are supposed to be in front of the group etc. It was a little distracting at first but eventually I settled in. sooner or later I'll get screenies up.
  17. So I'm chilling in my base today just doing some inventing for some sets for a couple of my Alts. And while I'm at the invention table, in my personal base with no one but me there, There's a flash of light and The Ghost Falcon Appears in my base next to me!

Startled the heck out of me and it was quite the surprise entrance!

So back at the Bay Area Meet N Greet in November I was lucky enough to win the Raffle for play time with a Dev. A few Devs donated an hour of play time and in my case I was lucky enough to win some time with Ghost Falcon, who was incredibly cool to talk to in person.

So today, after getting our schedules narrowed down to the right day, Ghost Falcon surprised me in my base, and we got a time set up.

We got a great team together and ran an Apex Task force With Ghost Falcon, playing as the legendary Ghost Falcon Character, and it was nice to see him get out of Peregrine Island for once!

The task force went very well, GF put up with some questions, gave us a couple little insights into the development of the Apex and Tin Mage TFs, (I had no idea they were originally going to be one big TF) and kept us all buffed up and fighting hard. It was a ton of fun, everyone had a blast and we took care of business!

So I just want to say thank you to all who were involved. Thank you to Avatea for scheduling the event, thank you to Ghost Falcon for his time! Was lots of fun and everyone involved enjoyed it!

I also want to say, that I know the people I invited to join in this were very excited for it, and I know others wanted to be there but couldn't but also were excited at the idea of it. I really hope this is something the Devs can do more going forward. I think that people really like the idea of playing with Devs and their Signature characters so hopefully in the future they donate a bit more of their time when they can for events like this, because I know a lot of other people would love the chance!

Thanks again to all and Happy Holidays!

I’ve been working on City of Heroes in essentially the same role for six years now. It has been a fantastic learning experience and I have become a far better designer as a result of my time here.

I’d especially like to thank all of you City of Heroes fans. I appreciate the passion that you feel for your hobby, even when that passion was, shall we say, directed towards me in a rather negative fashion? I have always tried to keep an open mind and treat your feedback fairly. I’ve loved seeing what you have done with the tools we have provided you with. Some of the MA arcs I’ve seen are brilliant and some of the base layouts are simply amazing. I’ve seen costumes made that, quite frankly, are completely beyond my ability despite having access to the exact same tools. Then, there are the wonderful people I’ve met at Hero-Con and Meet & Greets. It has definitely been my pleasure to work with this community.

In closing, I’d like to thank you all for the good times and putting up with my sometimes surly nature. Going forward, Synapse and Black Scorpion are the ‘go to’ guys whenever you have a powers or entity related question or problem. Feel free to direct your inquiries to them here on the boards and they will do their best to address them. I’ll have PM’s turned on as Castle until 12:00 Pacific, Friday, December 24. Feel free to PM me or post here – I’ll try and answer or comment as best I can!
That makes me a sad panda...

Castle, you've been fantastic. I've spoken with you briefly at a couple events and you were always very gracious. You've been one of the most active red names on the boards for the entire time I've been reading the boards and the community as a whole has been better off for you having taken the time to speak with us and answer our questions, even when we were rude.

I'm sure I'm not the only one sorry to see you go, but I wish you the best success in your new endeavors.

    3 Cheers for Castle!

They have more than one resource in telling us these things, and it wouldn't be horrible for them to keep in mind that a fair number of players don't regularly browse the forums, and use their multiple resources, like the patch notes page, links to the patch notes in the forums in the updater, etc.
  21. Not crazy about the changes to Trapdoor to be honest. I haven't found the guy that tough yet, but a lot of others have, and I'm not thrilled that the Devs decided to make him biofurcate more and eliminate the strategy of pulling him out of range of the clones. Now people who have a hard time with this mission, are going to really loathe it, and I kind of sympathize with them.

The other changes look great, except displaying the Global bonuses in the powers menu again.

Honestly, I think global bonuses in this game have become sort of like "leet loot" in other games. Other games people get all in a tizzy about items, "Hey, you're a mage and you don't have the staff of ra? Noob, get off my team."

In this game, globals it seems have become like that. I literally had some one tell me before I19 went live, "You know, I'm not sure we want that dominator on our team, looking at his globals, there is no way he is a perma-dom" I was kind of surprised really, since to me I could care less.

The game is supposed to be balanced around SOs, so what do globals matter? They are icing on the cake and too often they are used to judge a player or their skills and I'm not entirely sure everyone else should have a right to know how I slot or don't slot.

I'm in favor of people having to ask, having it there in plain site, I'm not a fan. I'd like a little privacy about my build so if people want to know, they can ask.

For the Record, I don't put a lot of sets on my characters because I have a lot of alts, and several I don't play that often, I prefer to spend the INF on sets for the ones I play more often, and not waste it on the ones that sit on shelves.

Though even the ones who sit on shelves without globals are really solid builds. Globals are nice, but the right powers and the right enhancements are what this game was balanced around and it works great if it's done right.

Agreed, but this only serves to prove my point. It's not possible to entirely lockdown a time frame for the current Praetorian Content, so it's impossible to rule the Carnival of Light out of the time frame Between leaving Praetoria at level 20 and getting to Tina's arc at levle 20.

This is more or less what I've been trying to say, without such heavy emphasis on the Girl Power Bit. But considering what we've seen of Praetoria so far, I don't think a carnival themed group of resistance sided psycho psychics is impossible to rule out.
