Quote:I really like change ammo in dual pistols.[sarcasm]Yeah, because our first example of this with Change Ammo in Dual Pistols is totally wonderful.[/sarcasm]
But my understanding of what being stated was not that you'd change your power, but add a secondary effect.
IE Snipe shot in Assault rifle, you could add a -def or -regen or dot, secondary affect to the power.
And if this was something you could do on a per power basis, that'd be awesome.
And it'd be something added to the power, and not a power of switching between ammo types.
But that's if I'm understanding the concept correctly... -
I'm still trying to figure out how what I just saw was physically possible.
Wow... That's a lot of stretching to get that flexible, that was very impressive. -
Quote:I think your missing the point. The hands in the game now are just mittens, the fingers are stuck together and the only "fingers" are drawn on. That's all that exists in the game. All the better, and illustrating my earlier point nicely: the hands are already in the game.. Enable them with NEW GLOVES COMING OUT, everyone happy and problem solved.
Speaking generally, I have never said that all old glove art should be redone. NEW. GLOVES. ONLY.
Oh balderdash! The gloves are in the game RIGHT THIS MINUTE. Artwork already done. Animation already done. We should not even have to have this argument, this should have been ported over for player use aeons ago. Make it happen, devs.
There are no articulated individual fingers in this game, they don't exist and it would take a lot of work because it would involve remodeling the player models.
And it doesn't work to just release it for new gloves, the new gloves would still have to fit on the model which would have to have articulated fingers. The gloves themselves don't have their own animations, they are costume pieces attached to the models and the models do the animations.
In short, for it to be done things would have to be remodeled and glove options would have to be retouched to fit things properly onto the newly articulated finger models. It'd be resource intensive, there is no way around that. -
Way to go Lloyd!
While I'm at it I'll just use this moment to say every interaction I've had with in game support has been very positive and helpful. I feel like the devs and OCR team get a lot of love, but perhaps it's time to share some love for the in game support as well! -
I don't disagree with most of your point but GMs don't decide much, I'm pretty sure they have a list of what is and isn't appropriate and they go by that list, and in the case of cross dressing, they'd go by what ever list of things their employer gives them.

Quote:I hated Matrix 2 & 3 and I can tell you why. It's the same reason I hated PotC 2 & 3. The studios were in such a tizzy to make their holy freaking trilogy, (because for what ever reason in the last decade movie studios are obsessed with the number 3 whether the series is good for more than 2 or good enough for more is irrelevant they want 3.) that they took enough plot for 1 movie, and filled it up with action scenes that were too long and repetitive and served no point but to be "action scenes" and stretched a plot too thin over 2 movies to get people to pay them twice as much money for what was essentially one movie with a lot of filler.I think you just answered your own mystery here. Sure the fight scenes were cool, but can you really call any movie that's only good for a few minutes worth of fight scenes a truly "good" movie? Movies like this weren't made to be "fast-forwarded" through. The fact that you only really enjoy it that way now pretty much proves the sequels were no where near as "good" as the first one.
Watch Matrix 1 and pay attention to the action scenes. Every fight scene Neo learns something new about who he is or his abilities in the matrix, or he accomplishes something new, IE defeating Smith or Rescuing Morpheus. Every action scene drove the story forward and did so without wasting a ton of screen time to do it.
Then in reloaded we get fight scenes with Oracle's body guard that lasts for 5 minutes so Neo can prove that he is "The One" even though he'd met the oracle before, she knew him and she knew he was the one, but hey lets have a fight scene that eats screen time and accomplishes nothing. Which was most of Reloaded. Matrix revolutions had more story, but a lot of it was ambiguous, not well laid out (IE Smith can get out of the matrix, neo has powers out side of the matrix?) and not ever explained, and it was still given too many long winded action scenes that just got boring. I couldn't help but feel they could have spent less time on pointlessly over drawn action scenes and more time explaining things and developing a coherent story.
All in all, Matrix 2 & 3 should have been Matrix 2, and I'm not even upset about the cost of the extra ticket as much as the wasted 2 hours of pointless fight scenes that drug down the potential of what could have been some great movies.
Quote:The hate stems from fan expectations being too high, similar to the Star Wars prequels.
Matrix Revolutions does leave the door open for Neo to come back, but the door is only open about a millimeter
Matrix 2 & 3 much the same way. No where near as good as the original and it was stretched out, thin plot, over drawn and it felt like a half ***** money grab.
For the record, I loved The Matrix, but the sequels weren't good. If they do two more I'd be curious to see what they do. I'll watch 4 but if it's stretched out with filler just for the sake of making number 5, I won't watch 5.
I still haven't watched PotC 3 since 2 was a waste, pointless over drawn action scenes and thin story for the sake of making 1 movie into 2 to make a "trilogy". Had the same symptoms as the matrix movies. -
Quote:This get's me excited. I'd love to see the screen shots and I wonder if we could pick a different secondary effect for each power. Maybe if you earn the different effects you have them to assign to each power? That seems like something that would be very fun, very practical and would allow for a lot of room to do more min-maxing etc. We've gleaned a few details from things that have shown up in-game. I believe it has been shown that the Lore slot will allow you to summon two pets, which may be based on existing factions--I think one Lore we found allowed you to summon Praetorian Clockwork allies, but I don't recall for certain. These pets may be either offensive or support types, and you can mix and match (one of each type or two of either type). The support pets don't attack at all, but they're also indestructible, as the Lore Protection power shows.
The Interface slot appeared to allow you to add a secondary effect to your attack powers. I think there was a screenshot of an altered enhancement screen that had an extra slot connected to the powers, but I can't find it now. Does anyone else remember it?
Of course, it's entirely possible this stuff is wrong, or that it will change before it's released, since it's based on leaks of things that are a long way from release.
Or some of us are lazy and don't read every single post in a thread the first time through... -
Quote:Honestly I've been wondering the same things. Especially about the power called "interface", I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what that might be!Apart from Alpha and Omega, which seem obvious and easy to see why they're called that, the other 8 are pretty interesting, I think - like what sort of powers, content and storylines will they be linked to? The Alpha slot was linked to the Alpha Strike, so maybe the Judgement slot in I20 is linked to the idea of the Incarnate Trials, or maybe the judge/trial link is too obvious?

Quote:I wrote Game Informer about this a few issues back. They wrote an article about CoH, a nice one but they gave Cryptic credit for AE. They printed a small correction then like an issue or two later made the same mistake thinking Cryptic did CoH still. That's just par for the course. None of the gamer media outlets seem to pay enough attention to CoH to understand that Cryptic isn't in charge anymore. Never mind the fact that Crypic's involvement ended four(?) years ago.
NC Soft, and Paragon Studios esp has taken this game to heights Cryptic never even bothered to consider dreaming of, I feel like they should get credit.
Cryptic can go lord over there other games that are not fairing nearly so well. -
A few years ago Image did a crossover with GI Joe and Transformers. the had 3 or 4 different volumes IIRC. The volumes were all in the same continuity but completely separate from either the Transformers or Gi Joe continuity's going at the time.

Quote:Okay, so this I didn't understand. He's not, really, since he can't speak. Werner Herzog is going to read his review at the end o the episode.
Quote:Which is kind of a critic's job. I disagree with most of his reviews (he hated A Few Good Men and Die Hard... wth Roger?) but he's the only mainstream reviewer that is a fan of science fiction.
However I don't think it's a movie critics job to start lacing his reviews of movies with lectures on what's wrong with our society. It's not needed from a critic, write that in an essay not in your review.
I also don't think it's a critics job to start going all over the place offering his opinion on topics he isn't nearly as well versed in, especially when no one asked his opinion.
I don't think it's a critics job to start taking dumps on other forms of media he knows little about IE "Video games will never be art."
Quote:His wife is black, so he's overly sensitive about things on that topic.
No one asked if he would rather be called one or another, and he would never be called either in this country. If he wants to comment about censorship sure, but this comment was just another symptom of Ebert deciding some where along the way that he was the authority on just about everything. -
As long as Stark\IM shows up some where even as a cameo, that works, and it works off the movies already done, it could be a fun movie.

Quote:Ah! I was thinking Idris Elba right before I read this thread, get out of my future brain!
Seriously, who cares if he's in Thor, he can play in Black Panther too.
Hell Michael Bay used the same actor for two different military commanders in TF 1 and 2. Go for it Marvel, make Idris Elba your new main star, he and Samuel L. can duke it out. -
Quote:L33rn to H8, N00b!Hello all...
I've been on this game for about 18 months now (I'll get my 18 month badge on Feb. 2). As my first MMO, I really had no idea what to expect concerning the game community. But, in this time, I have realized that the City of Heroes community is, by and large, a friendly, fun, helpful group. We share tips and tricks with one another, help each other out, congratulate one another on our accomplishments, and commiserate with one another over bad PUG stories. In short, the CoX community actually feels like a community.
So, in my naivete, I mistakenly thought that other MMOs would share the same community feel that I've come to expect and love here. (Hey, CoX was my first MMO, I can be excused for being naive, can't I?).
Well, last week my partner and I decided to try out the other new superhero MMO that just launched. We got in to playing the game, enjoyed it, and were looking forward to finding out from others some tips, tricks, and things we had missed.
Imagine my dismay when I logged in to that community's forums, and realized that 75% of the posts were insults toward other players. Even questions such as "I am new to this brand-new MMO that has been out only a week, how do I find (Major NPC)?" are greeted with "Learn to play Noob!" and "Use the F***ING SEARCH FUNCTION!!!11!!" In fact, when I posted my response to a question concerning an in-game issue, I was insulted because I didn't share the opinions of the beta testers.
This complete disregard for any sense of community, and the sheer masochistic joy many players seemed to get in insulting "teh n00bs" made me realize that I will never feel any sense of commitment to that game. It is a fun game, sure. But, when people in a game's "community" go out of their way to one-up each other, insult one another, and feed their own egos, I have little incentive to see the game succeed in the long-term.
Now, that leads me back to the purpose behind my post. I wanted to thank the CoX community for being the positive place it is, and making my entrance in to MMOs a memorable one. Even though I take hiatuses from the game now and then, I want to see this game, this community, succeed. It is an amazing game, with an equally amazing group of players. So, to all of you, I say thank you!
No seriously, this community is the bomb. From the forums, to in game to the meet n greets, I've never had this much fun with a bunch of dorks I barely know. It's finally nice to be in a place where I can be a dork and feel right at home as well. -
that was cool and I immediately called my GF in to see it. This is freaking phenmoninal, I wanna stand at my computer and work out playing city of heroes throwing my arms around like a wanna be super hero, I think that would be a ton of fun. I know it sounds dorky, that's not sarcasm, I really would love to play CoH with this!

I can't believe this guy is getting a new show.
Honestly I've always felt he was pretentious and rather "holier than thou" even for a professional critic but as he's gotten older I feel like he just goes farther and farther into left field with this sort of assumed moral superiority and acting like a general know it all.
His little "I'd rather be called the N-word, than a Slave" thing being the most recent example.
But hell I read his review of Kick *** and a large chunk of it was a tirade about violence in schools and all this other stuff. I wanted a movie review not Roger Ebert's opinions on the ills of society.
/rant off
The new prosthetic looks good though, good for him. -
What's the CCA doing about comics violating their arcane rules? Blackest Night was ALL about the walking dead and it didn't seem to stop DC in the slightest....
-
Quote:I'm in no way a Judge Dredd expert or even a fan really, never read the comics, I saw the movie but though it missed a lot of potential.Hmmm...truthfully, I highly doubt it would of done any better, if he kept the helmet on the whole time.
It seems to be a common complaint from the fans, but I highly doubt that keeping the helmet on would of made that big of a difference in it's profits.
However it seems to me the Helmet issue isn't as much about the helmet as it is about what the helmet represents. Stallone wouldn't simply take his ego out of the equation and wear the helmet, he had no respect for the source material.
The director didn't have the spine to stand up to Stallone and do the movie his way with respect to the source material. The movie ended up sucking, and additionally not being very true to the source material at all. the Helmet is simply emblematic of that. -
I liked this episode, not one of the best ones but it's their first one back from a long break and they are setting things up. I thought it was charming for the most part but the whole Lester in Love thing just felt shoe horned in. I like the buy more antics but sometimes they put them in just as filler it feels.

Quote:This.Bowling has points. You can most certainly bowl competitively and work to reach higher and higher scores. You can also choose to play without caring about the points. (But who hasn't cheered on getting a strike?)
The same goes for baseball. The same goes for any sport, any video game. Some folks find their fun in playing socially without minding the score, some find their fun in increasing their score. Why is one better than the other?
Also, rewards in this game are used to improve and build my character. The more merits I get the more cool recipes I can buy to make my character better.
Why complain about drop rates? Well if I have to play 500 hours of the game to get one enhancement to make my character better, my character will improve at a very slow rate and that is not FUN.
Part of the game is building the character, making it stronger etc, otherwise you'd get all your powers in the beginning and you wouldn't be able to enhance them. The enhancements and recipes are the rewards, which are used to further the game.
It's not a reward driven mentality, it's a reward driven game. You kill something, it gives you XP, you kill more somethings, you get more XP, you level and continue. Inspirations, XP, Influence, Enhancements, salvage, recipes, incarnate shards\components, badges. You get these as a part of playing the game, you can't really avoid them , the game is littered with rewards, and the rewards have a use and consequently a value to them to the people who find their use desirable. -
Community is an excellent show. The writers really understand the characters, as do the actors and they keep the characters consistent. It's silly, it toys with the fourth wall but it's got some poignant moments too.
Season 1 is solid through out, the whole season is consistently entertaining.
Season 2 is a little hit and miss for me so far, some episodes being far better than others, though in the more recent episodes I feel like they got their swing back a bit.
Honestly this year I've loved NBC Thursday nights, Community, The Office, 30 Rock and Outsourced, all funny shows. though I felt the Office was a bit hit and miss so far this season too, imo, but again hoping for the second half to be a little better. -
I like Hathaway, I think she's a terrific actress. I'm not sure I see her as Catwoman but if anyone can get that performance out of her I believe it's Nolan.
Hardy as Bane... I could see if he worked out and they did it right.
I'm kind of with the others, Nolan has done such a superb job with the franchise so far, I'll wait and see what he delivers.
I hope the title changes thoough.
"The Dark Knight Rises" is too close to "The Dark Knight" for me. I'd like to see a different title. -
Quote:I've thought of that, and perhaps they will use this trailer as a guideline or a proof of concept more than core story bible, but it's pretty hard to explain away the backstory they have with Reptile and Baraka in that trailer and make them outworlders.Maybe that's just what they know/can explain? I have to imagine everything they think they know will get tossed out the window when Raiden and some of the others get involved.
Looks like a pretty original spin on the mythos thus far, all things considered. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled, especially if they can keep up or surpass the quality they've shown so far.
Ohh that baby with skales and red eyes that killed people? Well we got our babies mixed up, turns out the guy with scales is really from another dimension, that baby died in the hospital, it was a baby fatality, a "babe-ality" if you will.. *cheesy smile to camera with a wink*
Ohh that Doctor that lost a patient, went crazy and attached metal blades to his arm? Turns out he was from another dimension too, he came through the portal in a white lab coat and accidentally killed some one , we assumed because of the coat he was a doctor, we realize now he has no formal education in the medical field. The first kill was still an accident, the other 90 were on purpose, and it turns out the blades weren't surgically attached, they were there the whole time and it turns out our x-ray specs from the back of the Archie comic book are not as good as we hoped.
Sorry, my attempt at humor on the boards.
Anywho I think it's an interesting spin but seems like they are distancing themselves from the interdimensional aspect of Mortal Kombat, and I've honestly always felt the MK storyline had real potential and it was a shame it's always been so under-developed.
At least the new MK game is promising fully animated scenes etc, so maybe we can get more of that story too..
