    CoP Attempt

Momma scrapper and the two baby scrappers should all be asleep 'round that hour. If so, I'll give it a go.
  2. Thank you one and all.

Here's hoping the rest of the year is "good" to each of us.
  3. Happy Birthday!

    'Tis a grand day indeed.
  4. Well, I reset the router and the modem. I rolled the video driver back to one from March, two driver updates ago (the current driver, the one before it, and now the one before that all result in the same hanging issue). And, I had the CoHupdater verify all files.

The client continues to hang. And, still hoping for some help figuring this out.
  5. It was suggested, by a wise friend, that I add the following from a Dxdiag logfile...

  6. This PC is a new rig and has had zero issues, error, crashes, etc with any program since it arrived a couple months ago. Since logging in after Thursday's long maintenance period, I have repeatedly run into the famous "City of Heroes has encountered an error and needs to close" message.

The first time it happened I was running an Earth/Kin Controller on a Reichsman TF, the game/pc hung 3 or 4 times in less than an hour. Each crash occurred in the middle heavy graphics while fighting. After the TF completed, I ran a Demons/Pain MM for over an hour without issue.

Earlier this morning I logged in a DP/Kin Corruptor to respec, after finishing the respec I was shopping on the Black Market... standing still mind you, and the game crashed again.

Now, just a few minutes ago, while playing the above mentioned MM, while standing in a office map hallway... no fighting, nothing snazzy, and the game crashed again.

I am profoundly frustrated at this point. This PC has handled UM and all the glory of CoX beautifully, until this maintenance on Thursday. To anticipate one suggestion, I already checked the guts of the PC, still clean as a whistle, filters an all.

I would appreciate any good leads as to how I can correct this issue, or if the fault lies elsewhere, figuring that out would be equally valuable too.

  7. We are a family, in all the ways that count, the good and the not-so-good, we are a family.

Like so many others here, I've...

    had grand adventures

    met great people

made dear friends, and lost a few along the way

found solice in times of toil or personal loss

shared hearty laughs, the deepest ones at ourselves

learned to see through the eyes of others and opened a few too

passed on what I have learned

stood in awe of magnificent discoveries and some little ones as well

witnessed courage in unlikely places and faces

    become a father, twice

and lost too many brave friends

Through these past six years, Protector has always been my online home. I chose her because I thought, "Heroes protect those who cannot fight for themselves". We are not perfect, not by any honest measure, but we are a family, of that I am certain.

I know I've poked at you a couple times, maybe taunted is a better word, but I did so knowing where we were ultimately taking Conall/Ruadh storywise. All in good fun.

I honestly enjoyed playing the role of chorus from time to time, hinting at where the story might be headed. I suspect I'll keep doing that in the future. Helping Sooner put these tales together is great fun, but watching and reading how other readers interpret and view the story is also very interesting as well.
  9. Great work Sooner.

The last bit is even better than I imagined it would be.

I've said it before and it is as true as ever, you write my characters even better than I do.

    To my fellow readers,

As for Conall's story, both before and after the events here, those storylines are already being woven as we speak. I cannot make promises about when you will see them, and Vir's adventures in Praetoria, but rest assured we are working on them.

Afterall, Sooner (and her team of contributors) has many questions yet to answer...

What happens next for Ruadh? ...for Trix? ...and Na'rul?

What sinister plan does Jagged Fortune have in store for Cerise and the Ghosts?

After her nightmare ordeal, what is next for Moondancer and her two best friends?

And, exactly what does Six-four's new scar mean for his powers and his future as a Hero?

All these questions and more will be answered soon!

  10. Let me be clear. The above visual joke is aimed at the idea of dragging up a thread that's been
dormant for a full season on the calender. Resurrecting the thread at all was unnecessary, adding
a verbal slap in the face to most anyone who reads it, well that points to the intent and motivations
of the one who resurrected the thread in the first place.

And yes, I get bonus points for the run-on sentence, thanks.

    Hhehehehheheeh

That's all I'm saying... else Sooner will squash me.

    Well, I can think of...

    1. Sooner Spirit
    2. Sooner Magic
    3. Sooner Red
    4. Trix
    5. Na'rul

    As for a sixth...

Ciara - But she's already dead
Colleen Nation - But she never directly betrayed or failed him
Ebony Rose - But his power struggle with her played itself out in another story
Spinedancer - But he had no standing bargain or arrangement with her
Moondancer - But any anger he might have there would be dwarfed by his rage at Six-four

So, I dunno who you're thinking of as a sixth target for his fury.

But, Sooner's epilogue isn't over just yet either, so you just never know what twist she might throw at us before it's all said and done.
  13. Not that you can fix it, but their links for "Latest Images" are broken.

As for the article itself, it is some nice info.
  14. And who might that be, MI?

Then hang on to your hat Wolfie.
  16. Knowing that Trix (and her behavior) is modeled after a hell-born cat, I can see it in my mind's eye. Conall, standing with his right arm straight out clutching Trix in his grip, as she bites, claws, and scratches at his arm attempting to flee.

Also, I had to laugh as once again we see, it is unwise to bargain with a demon...
  17. I really dig the constrast between the heroes reuniting, and Conall's imprisonment.

Jagged Fortune actively plots to betray the Ghosts' trust, I wonder what Trix has to say to Conall Cian.
  18. Alright, Sooner, it appears the 'chit chat' has died out, so...

    More.

    Story.

    Now.

    Please.
  19. While pondering what may yet come of Conall Cian, here are some things to consider...

    Quote:
"Conall, my darling pet, my once favorite. Do you remember how you came into my service?"

"Of course I do. I was a fool."

"Your brethren in the host denied you when you asked for their help, did they not?"

"They said it was not their place to get involved."

"You needed your revenge, and so you came to me-"

"You came to me and offered your help, as I recall it"

"...and you accepted it!" Ciara spat at him.
Who or what, exactly, was Conall Cian before he met Ciara?

    Quote:
"Ungrateful dog! I MADE you! Everything you are, I created!" she bellowed as she circled above him.

"You numb ****, why do you think I hate you?"
    Quote:
"It is true," Conall broke in. "I have done terrible things under Ciara's control. But that is over now."
If Ciara's power and will shaped Conall Cian into the terror he is now, how might his power - and control over Trix - be affected by Ciara's death?

    Quote:
"I did a lot of research on Ciara, and I learned a lot about Conall along the way."
Just what did Ahren learn about Conall Cian, and will the sisters, the Ghosts, and we readers ever find out?

There's still much going on for our intrepid heroes...

In fairness, I admit I already know parts of the answers to these questions, but I'm keenly interested to hear what my fellow readers think. Afterall, not even I know all the surprises Sooner has yet to reveal.

Sooner... you just gotta comment on this...

I want to, so very badly, but I won't.
  22. $%&@#*% awesome! Gut-wrenching and awesome.

In game terms, with Going Rogue just around the corner, this edition beautifully hightlights the profoundly difficult decisions our characters will soon face. We, as players, will just click to select a mission, but if we bother to consider the bigger picture, it's far more complicated than ever before.

Great, great dialogue and emotion Sooner.
  23. $%&# an A.

Sooner, you still manage to surprise and impress me with the realism of your storytelling.
