As for my experiences. I have always had a great time when I play on Victory. The people are friendly and know how to have a good time.

  3. While I do understand the plight of these trials. I have only ran it with tanks (Inv/Ice, Fire/Fire, Elec/SS, WP/SS) and have had very little issue getting rares. Very rare is its own issue. I have ran the trials with 4 tanks, each one has multiple tier 3 made and slotted. My main Ice Knight who is Inv/Ice Melee has a 4 Tier 3's. His build is darn near purely defensive. He got all of his Rare's thru drops. Just keep hammering at it.

I am not saying the drop isnt borked, just saying its possible, even without offensively built tankers.
  4. Hey its the other Stone/Dark Brute

We didn't chat much but I always enjoyed your posts in the Brute Forums. Welcome back

Ice (whom also knows the awesomeness of Stone/Dark Brutes )
  5. Have to be who you are. Not everyone will like it, hopefully most will respect it.

As for the Quaterfield, don't be discouraged. Many people are not fond of it, atleast in my circles of play. The best way to get people to do that TF, is to either find people who need the badge and/or advertise it in JFA and JU. Someone will go either out of curiosity, necessity or they are masochistic. Either one works
  6. Thanks for the update Posi!

I look forward to reading what you all came up with to resolve the current issues with the rewards system. Hopefully it will address most peoples issues with the Trials.

    why do you think so?

    1. I love it, honestly its a great hybrid set. Nice ST damage Nice AOE damage. The end is a little heavy however that can be worked with, especially with Electric Armor. With decent recharge Whirling Mace and Crown Control can be used back to back. The sheer carnage is far better then most would think. Also, Crowd Control has a few nuances with its use. Its a 180 Degree Cone that hits 10 targets. Small positioning makes all the difference with a cone.

1 A. I see you have Electric Armor. its a great set and is far better then it is sometimes portrayed. I would argue it can be as good as Inv and WP if built in a specific manner. Soft Capping S/L Defense while building for recharge and regen is a very interesting combination. I am not sure if you were planning on going for IO's but it makes a world of difference.

    2. Elec/SS is an awesome combination. I have run nearly everything with this tank with little difficulty.
  8. Welcome Back! timing couldn't be any better.
  9. Initially I was hesitant about the trials. My concern was about doing the same thing over and over again. I was DEAD wrong, this is absolutely the most fun I have had in game, in YEARS. To put it bluntly, with every new issue I would do the new content, be done within a few days to a week and that be that. Then I would go back to my log in an few hours a week, usually just to talk to people or for a quick TF. Have the occasional week I would be on alot, then disappear for a few weeks. Now I go to work and I can not wait to get home and get on a trial. I have spent 15 (I do work 40 hours a week m-f) plus hours ingame this week since I-20 and plan on spending the weekend in game and as much time working on my incarnate abilities.

Oddly enough, I did not like Tin Mage or Apex. I can't explain that either.

I like the idea of jump-attacking using Frost. =^-^=b

Wow, long time, glad to see you are back. Frost is a cup of tea power IMO. Some hate it, some love it. Personally, way back before Frozen Aura was changed and made awesome, I used to use it often as my only power I could do multi target damage (short of single target bugs and mob stacking... I miss the old days) As for math, I have all but stopped posting elaborate spreadsheets and going thru mathematical computations to prove points. Its easier just to not say anything

In my own opinion and I have said it for years, Greater Ice Sword is the most skippable.
  11. Good luck, be safe, see you when you get back.

Thats were a thread like this gets in trouble. We have to qualify a scenario or specific activity with our likes and dislikes. I am with you Mac, I was thinking primarily duels, and Zone PvP. 8v8's really shouldn't allow resist shields or psy resist built into shields that they don't go with.

I would be lying if I said nothing. However I need to preface mechanics vs QOL. Just a note, my lists have dueling in mind.

    Mechanics
Patron and Ancillary Shields + tough giving resistance to all (Def to all for specific patron/Ancillary Shields)
Damage based on activation time sans AOE powers
Psy Resists built into Armor sets.
    Taunt -75% range

    QOL
    Selectable Arena Maps
    Customizable Arena Options

    PvP IO's

I like the idea of PvP IO's however the system that is used to dispense them is a real problem. While this thread is not for discussing what we do not like, I need to qualify my likes and dislikes with PvP IO's to give an accurate statement.

IO's based on PvP is a great thing, being able to get PvP Io's while not PvPing is a problem. The PvP IO drop rate is concerning. I really sure how to fix it, however a more engaging system would be a start.

Overall there are only a few things I like about post I-13 PvP.

  17. An official thread on PvP perspective. While I want to believe there is something that can be done, I wont be holding my breath. I am having a moment of dejavu. On to your questions in an attempt to be productive.

Over the years I have ran and participated in alot of events. Saturday Night Fights, Midnight PvP on Justice, Kickballs, random zone events, various tourneys I have held and just informal PvPing. I enjoyed PvP, and used to have so much fun with it. I didn't test league PvP, and to be honest over the last year or so I have barely PvPed period, except for the few events I ran and/or participated in.

As for my favorite moment. There are a few actually. On the Justice Server we had a Pentad Event sponsored by Justice Radio and the PvPEC, however this was very different from a 1 night event. We actually picked teams Night 1 and all rolled level 1's and fought. Then 2 weeks later we ran at level 17 then 2 weeks after at 27 then at 35 then 42. You get the picture. People leveled up these new toons together. Practiced together and had to form their own style and technique for each event. We kept a point tally every level of the event based on wins and losses. The event was alot of fun and my favorite part was all the people there every few weeks. We had alot of fun and it really allowed anyone to participate. We had alot of people that never PvPed and got alot of positive messages from that event. Some even still PvP today. This was before I-13 for those keeping score.

Another event was a Midnight PvP. I ran this event, Friday Nights on Justice from 9 pm Pacific to 12 am Pacific (12 am Eastern to 3 am Eastern) We had a night a few years back we we had about 35 or so people PvPing in RV. We had a Hero Villain war that was absolutely awesome. We would push to the villain base then the villains pushed back. This went on for a few hours. Alot of people I knew or that are my friends were there. Conflict, Lucas, Macskull, Smoke, MerryPraknster, JJ, Philly, JBO, Needlez and others. We had a few nights like this, Warburg was also alot of fun. Nothing like true FFA.

The underlining message is this. PvP in its current state pushes people away from PvP. Lack of tangible, realistic rewards does not give people incentive to PVP. The fact that PvP playes by very different rules then any other aspect of the game make the barrier to entry higher While the actual rules in effect makes PvP far to simple. See were I am going here, new people wont participate and experienced people are driven off. The lack of a sufficient playerbase enforces the lack of PvP growth compounding the previous reasons. All in all, revert the PvP changes and actually listen to the players this time. Not to beat a dead withered nearly dust pounded horse here, but players have been saying these things for years. I am not the first and wont be the last.
  18. Any tanker can tank the STF. Some powersets can do it easier then others based on predefined criteria that plays to those sets specific strengths. Inspirations are meant to be used and should be used strategically. A little bit of preparation and a little bit of knowledge go a long way on the STF.

As for Solo Tanking a Tower Buffed Lord Recluse, Why? This is a team event and in all reality the tanker should be assisted with whatever buffs that are beneficial to the tank. Besides for a little bit of ego stroking or tanker comparison its more or less useless because you don't get Merits/Enhancements or Incarnate items by tanking him, you get it for defeating the STF, and that takes a team.

Onto some beneficial ways to handle the STF.

Bring 1 Cold and 1 Sonic Defender, seriously try it out it makes things so much easier. Obviously a rad would be great asset too. (Just a note I know Darks TA's, EMps, FF's, and any other primary I forgot are great too, just pointing out optimal options)

Inspiration wise, if you are close to softcap defensively 4 Purples 8 Oranges 4 Greens and 4 Blues (Depending on Primary blues may be irrelevant) Pop 1 Purple and 2 Oranges before entering combat with Lord Recluse, Keep him facing away from the team preferably in a corner, however some teams like to have you close so they can drop buffs on you. Regardless, if your back is too the team there will be problems.

If you are not close to Soft Cap bring 8 Purples, 8 Oranges and 4 Greens and pop 2 Oranges and 2 Purples before entering the fight. Follow the same directions as above

Watch your inspirations, pop as they start to blink. Don't get anxious about them and don't overbuff. You will get hit and it will take chunks from your bar, just keep taunting and hit a green if you need it. If you are gonna drop let your team know so they can take action if they can. Always communicate.

All in all just relax and have fun, thats what its meant for. Running it for the first few times will not be perfect runs and will be learning experiences, take what you learn and apply it to the next run.

    TANKER GUIDES

This thread is for posting Guide or FAQ links for Tankers. Please create your guides in the "Player Guides" forum (since posts in that section do not roll off) and link the thread here. Also, do not post your guide in this thread - only the link to your guide. For non-Tanker guides, check the master list of all Guides in the Guide to Guides.

Guides appearing here were gleaned from links posted in one of the "Guide to Guides" threads (the Tanker Guide Thread or the Guide to Guides thread in the "Player Guides" forum). Chriffer sifted through the hundreds of individual threads to find the postings. In the future be sure to 1) place your guide in the "Player Guides" forum, nowhere else and 2) post a link to it in a "Guide to Guides" thread to make things work smoothly.
