    I16 and MA

Doubt it'll be new animations, so I wonder what powers they'll be nabbing. Maybe they'll be dipping into Punch attacks and MA will finally become a poor man's Street Fighting (still waiting on that power set Statesman promised was being worked on! And the super secret out of combat system, too!)

That would be pretty nifty. I'd like to throw some punches with my kicks.
  2. Proliferate Dual Pistols onto Stalkers!

Nothing says Stalker like BOOM HEADSHOT
  3. Smoke Flash looks like a cool batman maneuver, but it's pretty much useless from what I had experienced before I got rid of it.

They should make Smoke Bomb invention recipe drops or something to do what flash does.
  4. Yeah, the Jade Spider has a mean Psi attack with a huge range (if i remember right).

Keeping the entire Phalanx alive and with you helps wail on it, but it'll wail on THEM once it gets covered with those purple cuts. And, plus, the thing's hitbox sucked. I never tried it solo though.

Villain version is a pain in the butt, but doable alone. I used the Jade Spider and Shivans to help me kill them (was doing it with my stalker..mostly to get the Signature Heroes badge for the mayhems). Statesman fell into a dumb AI loop where he just kept using his Zeus Lightning but wasn't actually attacking spideybot.

DCUO won't have power color customization at all, and they claim it is specifically because of a PvP concern-- it would be confusing to players and force them to check combat stats to see what they were hit with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    lolpvp.

I would love new maps (layouts would be wonderful, but skins are also good). Museum maps like the University, maybe a nice opulent mansion map, some apartment buildings of a dingy and fancy variety, Arachnos bases that aren't composed of 99% HALLWAYS AND BIG CRATES. I realize now that people are experiencing the game like obsessive compulsives, doing the same map with the same effortless-to-beat mobs over and over and over in endless repetition, not as many would care. But I still like to do normal missions and TFs so I don't get driven absolutely crazy by the MA and would love seeing new maps in the real game and getting stuck in MA for use in SFMA content.

oh, and i want johnny sonata's soul cave map

I do know of two old MUDs I played back in the early or mid 90's that were, and still are, 15 bucks a month to play. One gives you 1 character, the other gives you 3. Talk about overpriced. It's text! They get no updates!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dude, you played muds run by scam artists. I played a few free RP and RP/PK muds back before EQ caught me (whoa, this is a mud WITH GRAPHICS..and WHOA MORE THAN 150 PEOPLE OMG MASSIVE ONLINE!) and never paid a dime. Had active Admins and immortals who created new zones and were pretty active in the game doing events and stuff. I think the oldest PK one I played never shut down because of finances, just the guys who ran it together had fallings out.

I have had this question burning in my mind since i learned about Praetoria. What about Signature Villains what are they like.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Praetoria was just the topsy-turvy Evil Earth where everyone has a goatee. The Carnies were the Carnival of Light and fought with the Praetorians. I don't think it'd be such a huge leap to think Lord Recluse is the benevolent ruler of a small resistance against the Tyrant's rule. Widow named such because Dominatrix caught old Wretch and tortured the simpleminded hero to death...Black Scorpion is still an idiot, but now a one-man war on injustice...and Captain Mako is a MERMAN. With lustrous golden hair.
  8. That guy that wrote the original comic books with War Witch and Apex was the guy who wrote the legendary 600-page Story Bible before he got asked to leave Cryptic. Rick Dackarn, or Dackan, or something like that I think. I think that's why some of this old story and descriptions and motivations were a lot stronger. It came out of one guy who knew what he wrote--Reichsman going against story lore was just not really looking over what was written about him before writing the arc.

I'm not sure if that makes me believe in this mythical document more or less. If it IS that long I can see why you wouldn't have the time to go reading through a long, rambling account many points of which may have been changed, never implemented (there were a few factions on the old CoH site that never appeared in the game. Might've been renamed...I figured the Freakshow were the Killing Krew [or something like that]), things that have been retconned out or rewritten (SPIDER into Arachnos, Column into Council...i'm SURE they changed more than just that).
  9. MA with double XP weekend: now get 2 50s a night instead of one?

Why would it even need it. I wish double XP was double droprate weekend...I'd go flush a Sunday afternoon down the drain doing a long, boring Dr Q for a free Recipe pick or get all my characters full suits of the Vanguard uniform raiding the Mothership a few times (why aren't those merits tradeable? bah), or something the redside TFs might actually be worth ample reward instead of low merits from all those datamined speedruns people used to do for a fast recipe roll.
  10. I remember watching a global channel awhile back and some guy made a fake farm. Forgot what he filled it with, but it was something terrible. He said he was sad because it had racked up more votes than some SFMA arc he wrote had in a week, and just kept getting played...

Sappers ONLY have that stun attack. I remember getting stunlocked by one and not having anything to make a Breakfree with and having to quit to escape the map once because it couldn't kill me and I was like....UURGH CHECKMATE. Would've been easy to farm the hold badge, but I never thought to leave CoH running all night just to earn them.
  11. Yeah, why I don't get why purples seem to be so...required to people. To get a stupid amount of set bonus accuracy and perma hasten if you have 5 LoTGs? Meh. It's a hazard of using Mids without keeping your mind grounded in how much that godmode build of yours is going to COST.

Having a lowest level a Miracle and Numina that I can float down to alts makes me happier than purples. Maybe if I hocked those for 200 million on the market I'd be able to buy a purple or two, but I like those more than some stinky purples. Get bored of the alt or it hits 50 I can just respec and float them out again.

Maybe if all these AE'd up 50s went out and did actual content they'd start coming into the market again. Those things will just keep raising in price as Artifact drops or something until that happens. Maybe Going Rogue will be 50-oriented and there'll be a new source of them in stomping around Praetorian Earth for fame and glory though.
  12. Yeah, it's sad there's some newbie AE babies that think Atlas Park and the MA are the only content CoH has. But at least it showed some new blood came into the game, I guess, from...somewhere. Maybe they'll figure out there's an entire game outside of the MA building if someone clues them in about the Train station and how it takes you around the city. Game evolved into a game where your PC is playing a computer game simulation of fighting bad guys...is that, like, metagaming?

The recent Issue update just didn't bring as much of a bump of returning players as it heavier issues do, I think. People who hated MA enough to leave or cut back playing won't be coming back if it's nerfed now...it'd just piss off the people who do like the ProgressQuest-esque speed the little blue bar moves at in the flavor of the week farm map. Worse comes to worse PL can just relocate back to GV and PI. I'm sure there's still plenty of permanent 46s floating around.

At least those tickets brought a nice bump of cool recipes to redside...was never Inf rich but finally nabbed a few Inventions I wanted when some prices crashed temporarily. That had been pretty cool, I thought. Those farms make me feel like my brain is turning to pudding. I would hope there reaches a point where people would want to do something more fun than that...maybe during Double XP? I don't know if that applies to the AE missions or not. I mean, patrol XP doesn't.
  13. Purples are very rare recipe drops.
People have been farming MA maps which have no chance of purple recipe drops. Only a few people still do TV or BM farms.
Nobody but flippers or people that buy money from RMTers have the influence to buy purple sets anymore. (coincidentally, it's probably RMTers getting the purples that do drop. I'm sure they still have some employee farming for them.)

Meh. Don't care too much about the purples myself. They're probably still less rare drops than those PvP IOs, too.
  14. The Shard has some beautiful scenery. They were everything I had wanted the Plane of Sky to be (have to remember that the Shard predates EQ2's Plane of Sky expansion pack.) I think it's possible that some of their devs admired it as much as I did even if whoever designed it never got much kudos here in CoH.

Nobody ever goes there because those 4 zones are just so freaking BIG.

    BIG.
  15. If you don't have enough debuffage to drop on him, yeah, you have to use an HVAS or something that'll help nerf his regeneration while he's godmoding. Generally in the teams I've been on he goes down like a wet paper sack though. Hammer him to the ground while he's blathering on about needing to be stopped instead of giving him time to pop off his pre-ED tier 9 (he wasn't in the dimension when Statesman nerfed the power! HAX!).

Honoree can be obnoxious enough to just make you say "screw it" and Shivan him down.

The Reichsman...now there's an AV who is broken.
  16. Spines has some AOE capability. DM is pretty much single-target.

I do enjoy dropping the hammer onto things with my naughty tentacles. Fast, straight up shot of negative energy. Mmm. Except Mu...they like the tentacles groping them.

    Siphon Life is wonderful frankenslotted.
  17. Yeah, the crystal map is the stinkiest. Although it's fun when I peel off and go down a hallway bursting the cysts solo. Kheldians infused me with a strong hatred for cysts.
  18. I was sort of more surprised Going Rogue was going to be a new expansion pack since CoH has turned 5 years old already. I had always figured NCSoft hired the whole lot (except Jack) from Cryptic and Posi secretly set them new employees to work on CoH2, now with Statesman having completely disappeared from the world (going to Krypton brb!) and Positron becomes the leader of the Phalanx against the new challenges that rise up...or who knows, making them make an Americanized Lineage 3 as NCNC [Elf boobies are the best part of that game]
  19. Nin, bad?

    /boggle

I don't see how Ninjitsu is bad. Knockback hole, yeah...-KB IOs. Don't have the debuff resistance of an SR or Quickness, that's true. But you get a self-heal, and Blinding Powder can be a fun and useful.

Mine is all IO'd out and, like, softcapped and stuff. With Siphon Life and Reconstruction I'm extremely hard to get knocked on my butt due to being able to rapidly heal myself when a hit does get through (unless the bugger one-shots me)
  20. Never heard of him.

Being a purposefully obnoxious player while feigning innocence in the small niche community of CoX lolpvp? Please. Fansy the Famous Bard and the Flowers of Happiness would've run circles around Professor Noob. They brought old EQ's FFA pvp server to its knees. Pretty sure they conducted some semi-epic trolling in WoW, too, but less memorable just because WoW is watered down weaksauce where nobody can *really* be ub3r like select individuals could become in the old days. Casuals don't know 'bout how Giants once walked the Earth.

And then they turned into carebears, I think. Or perhaps they became buddhas and transcended the mortal coil.

-edit: Except Leeroy Jenkins. Best thing to come out of warcraft.

    Back to Basics

It won't be quite the same. Positron evened out level ranges so some of them are less tedious. I remember that the old mid 30s used to take longer than the entire 40-50 level run.
  22. Yeah, fire armor is wet paper sack armor. Made one, enjoyed a ride up to 50 with it (TFs most of the way, yeah!), but don't really do anything with it anymore. It was an offensive beast when I had a real meatshield to hide behind and wait to herd everything up. That double build up is fun. As is dying just to blow up in a Rise of the Phoenix, because debt just goes to feeding badges at 50 anyway anyway. I called it my corpse nova

Yeah. I think that Mids guy said he was stepping down from updating his planner...probably just doesn't play CoX anymore. Dunno if anyone has taken the reigns. I remember he took over when some other guy stopped updating theirs himself.

    Does AE need XP?

If the lowbies in atlas would start a sewer team, they could be lvl 8 in an hour.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A good sewer team will get you to 8 faster than that.

but yeah, bleating is about right though. Watching Cap broadcast while i'm poking through the market you can see there's backlash to all lowbies showing up who offer nothing but their awesome Brawl trying to get on boss farm teams. I just automatically refuse every blind invite now, where I used to accept them if I wasn't in a douchey mood towards PUGs, because I know it'll just a level 1 looking for a 50 for PL.
  24. It got destroyed by the Rikti when they base raided them in a PvP event, and Statesman refuses to rebuild it but won't authorize non-leaders base construction privileges.

That's also why Manticore is so rich: back when it nerfed your inf to 0 he he refused to play in SG mode, and just kept piling up influence while the rest of those noobs were just piling up worthless Prestige.
  25. Yeah, the relying on footspeed is...annoying. Sprinting with Mental Training and Swift you could be moving relatively fast for a natural. Or go with Hurdle so you're decently acrobatic and you can hop around like a bunny. I had done a few TFs where somebody respeced for an optimized build and forgot that they didn't have a travel power at that level range anymore grumbling about having to dig out his raptor pack

With the Architect now it's easier than ever to not have a travel power, though. You don't even have to leave that room except to go to a trainer if you don't mind AE babies. It's a Nemesis Plot to make us all sluggish so that when he launches his new global empire from the depths of Crey's Folly touching RWZ wall we'll all be too winded to stop him.
