Some of the stuff DC wants to do sounds kind of interesting. Whether they pull it off or not, of course, is the question. Champions *said* it was going to outdo CoX in all sorts of way too, and....yeeeah. It looked shinier. If the Ultra Mode makes the game look like a brand spankin' new one for people whose computers can handle it, they should get marketing to work, since a lot of the new audience of video games only care about how much NEXT GEN Brown and Bloom the game has.

Quote:that was totally like a 'we ran out of ideas' costume they just threw onto a vet badge. I don't think i've ever seen anybody using them. if i had that many months time played i'd totally copy a Punch Out! costume for an SS'er, though.

Quote:I'd rather it be too fast than too slow. In the early days the levelling curve was so brutal that you HAD to take those trash patrol missions, and even then you might run all your contacts dry. Statesman used to say he didn't want one character to be able to experience everything, but Positron's was the one who made it happen.
Even with this handicap, he found leveling very fast, and had to turn off xp multiple times. This is strictly soloing.
it feels weird in those places you mentioned because he specifically tackled the xp curve in ranges people used to slowdown/quit at (probably just looked at data mining) and slapped down the teen and 35-40 range XP grinds. It left it feeling kind of lumpy. -
I have a Ninja/Storm, but I don't have any illusions of being all super-awesome like the the dudes with AOE-happy pets who can sit back lazily rocking the aura and rolling x8 spawns on e-z mode. I picked that combination just because it wasn't easy, the other MMs were just tooooo boring to play.
I wish third ninja minion had a "thing" going for him instead of just being another guy who runs around kicking things. He could've at least had Cobra Strike, or something. -
Quote:You figured out a way to make a wormhole that summons demons from Infernal's home dimension to you and you slap them into subservience with your cool laser whip!
And who said Demon summoning couldn't be Tech origin?
I'm wondering if they'll be new, unique Demons or it'll be a kind of mix-n-match grabbag of CoT demons. I could see having something like a spectral/behemoth/succubus setup if they're trying totally phoning it in--and would be a third Melee-based MM primary to equal the balance. Zombeh and Ninja are melee, Bots/Mercs/Thugs4lyfe are already all blastin'. -
Quote:I only remember Portal Corp. Over and over again. Ok guys click together!
it's just hard to get up the desire to try it because that TF is so. Damn. Boring.
and go. hunt. kill rularuu.
it makes me bored just remembering it. That TF would have to be 200 merits to convince me to run it more than once a year (I figure it would take me that long to forget why I haven't run it in ages. And then I go "oh yeah, this was made in the Positron-esque task force era of the game's development") -
1. Crossplatform sucks. Xbox turns games into epic fail. And I refuse to play an MMO if it becomes voice-chat required...it's just not gonna happen. I don't want to have to put up with all "you people" blathering away in my ear. I'll just give MMOs up when that happens.
2. Underwater zones are awesome. Gotta have a dev that loves the z axis and wants to make an epic cool area, though (Kedge Keep, I loved you so) otherwise it'll probably end up sorta meh. Babs don't want it, so it won't happen.
3. I miss Apartments. They're dying out of MMOs. In DAoC and EQ2 (and I presume Star Wars. Vanguard might've had 'em--I forget, that MMO was so bad I dumped it out of my brain) were great because you could go to a seller's house and purchase directly from there to save yourself the market's transaction cost. If you cared, you could make a nice showy apartment people could look around in...if you didn't care you had an empty house and the sales racks sitting in a big empty room. I liked to decorate and occasionally would get a random compliment about it. For high priced recipes and enhancements I could see going to a guy's apartment to buy from him, but from a superhero standpoint....going to a guy's cool secret hangout to do market transactions seems dumb. Batman doesn't invite random people into the batcave just because they want to buy some secret super weapon he invented, right? Plus, the market is cross-server and players aren't. -
Nobody really cares about Mercy or PO anyway. I figure Cap will be the winter event hub for villains.
Mercy is a horrible newbie zone, and Port Oakes is just sort of...there. It has the arena and the SG registrar, I guess. In retrospect the devs probably regret the mistake of having two zones which virtually overlap. I just groundpound to level 5 as I walk to the PO ferry, get my atlas mayhem in Oakes, and proceed to Cap at level 10. Total time in the zones is pretty negligible for a side which doesn't have many zones. -
Quote:I always assumed I stole it off a Longbow Warden. Usually one of those guys shows up, and they do wear capes. It's just the named cape doesn't wear a cape."No cape, eh? Guess I'll just have to make do and skin 'em."
Quote:The Hollows, especially, ending in the Caverns of Transcendence, an 8-man timed Trial against some of the toughest enemies in the level range, burried deep within the Troll tunnels stuff in a level band that everyone outlevels by the time they even get Karsis. Yeah, fat load of good the story does when you're missing the last chapter. -
I thought it was sort of interesting. Better than the supernatural Banner event, especially since it wasn't lagging the server and causing constant intrusive zone invasions. Didn't seem anybody was confused by what to do when he phased out until his GM guardian was beaten, either, unlike the banner event.
he does have a sorta dorky name. but, hey, maybe DC will sue them if they name him Mister ColdsnapIT'S ICE TO MEET YOU!
Why can't the Winter Horde use the rikti merit code for candy cane drops, though? I just suppressed bosses since they're only worth 1 candy cane be it minion or boss. Never was subbed during a winter event so I have a lot of junk to buy from those elves, and with those instant Respecs costing 500 canes I imagine the cost for those salvage bits aren't going to drop below the 100k-500k per piece on the market (unless, maybe, on the last day of the event and people want to unload instead of hoard them for next december). Or maybe Big Daddy Snowman's realm could be guaranteed candy cane drops in the vein of the RWZ mothership raid's guaranteed merit drops. -
Heh, I took a special kind of joy throwing blinding powder on Knives and confusing the lot of them to turn their massive caltrop fields against them on my stalker.
-
Seriously? I'd expect the Soldiers to be the VEAT of choice (huntsmen double leadership is wonderful, mwahaha, although they don't have buttcapes...and for some reason my female soldier doesn't have the chest or collar piece anymore, I guess those parts got bugged by the costume devs somehow), and Corruptors to replace Defenders since they can, like, fight and scourge stuff. What do defenders get? "Oh, if this guy's HP is redlining my heal to him costs less. Yay?"
At least we all know Kheldians will continue to be the least played AT, though -
Oh, see the travel timesink is still there. Just pop the ouroborous portal to skip back to AP from the faaaaar corner of IP, don't do the cape mission until you can. Simple
It could be worse--Skyway could still not have the rail connected. Ugh...the blueside cape mission was never anything but a travel timesink. Happy they did something to it, hopefully the nonsensical aura mission gets a redo too instead of just being "now you can have glowy eyes because you tore these arms off some freakshow and brought me goo from DE and bottled rikti monkeyfarts! now, to use the power of SCIENCE!" -
I don't really believe someone could knock out that godawful doctor q. TF in under 4 hours. And that's, like, speedrun speed where you don't have people go AFK or the leader accidentally DCs and whoops the next in line group member fell asleep! enjoy your wasted effort...
Shadow Shard TFs need revamped SO HARD. It would please me immensely if the Shard was also getting attention paid to in Going Rogue, but I seriously doubt it. Revamping Rularuu and having some kind of awesome raid against the Cathedral of Pain (blow up the deathstar! scrap whatever Statesman's crummy PvP idea using the name was about) could be an xpac in itself. -
Quote:That's why I take the Ghost Slaying Axe as my vet reward instead of sands of mu. And tend to avoid CoT at low levels blueside.
Spectral Daemon Lords - It's suppose to be a lieutenant, but seems way overpowered for one. Some builds can take 'em down easy, but others? It's like... um... oh crap. Especially bad when they con orange. I hate fighting these guys.
Mu are annoying, but that's just standard course for Arachnos...Arachnos is the most rounded out faction about throwing all sorts of pesky things at you. Keep yellows for Night Widows stacking smokenades, avoid Executioner Strikes from banes, tarantulas have fat butts to mess with cones and those slowing psi screams...
Never thought the warriors were particularly bad. Cimerorans are worse--they're Warriors but with healers and burn patches. And they chuck real javelins at you instead of use girly-man crossbows. The Warriors never learned how to throw 'em.
Rularuu eyeballs I hate. Their accuracy is hax. Also hate wisp bosses since they can shove you in a bubble. -
Quote:Freedom was more like the unofficial Farmer/PL server, although Arena is pretty talkative (I always kept it turned on because the pvp'ers used to form more TFs than the TF global channels)
I thought freedom was the pvp server? shows you how long I have been gone.
It was the most bustling server and you couldn't go around unHidden without having a level 1 randomly inviting you to team to PL them over in Atlas or Cap during the height of MA's popularity, but it seems the population is dropping off (or a lot of people just filled up the character slots) and Virtue is getting the server load yellow dots more lately.
They say it's the RP server but, ehh, I haven't seen much of it. Most of them just talk ((like this)) and not roleplay at all. -
I have on several.
Makes it easier to just hack CoT ghosties, and generally I have stuff that's better than a basic unenhanced Shadow Maul for fighting the rest of the time.
Sands of Mu are nice on the SS brute I had though. Seems to ignore the rage IMMA HIT YOU FOR 1-4 POINTS OF DAMAGE crashes. -
Quote:Yeah, I've been using AE as a handy tool for earning tickets to buy Orange salvage for recipes that call for it instead of buying them on the market (unless they're the dirt cheap oranges), but don't see Farm teams for it forming anymore...which is just fine imo. Pity it reduced the speed Recipes were being introduced into the market, but soon all the rats can abandon the dead Redside for the glorious world of Praetoria in service under the Tyrant. ALL HAIL EMPEROR COLE!
Farming and PLing has moved back to Peregrine Island.
And I like how the Devs are actually being proactive and making contests where you submit arc IDs to them now instead of not doing anything with the MA except nerfing it every other day. I hope they keep contests running where they ask for a theme and request submissions. It's probably a whooooooole lot more efficient than a Dev trying to randomly pick out of thousands of published arcs (a majority of which are probably defunct farms with KILL NINJAS AWESUM TICKETS). -
Why would anyone lower than level 35 go to a Rikti raid? I think the contact mission to get the vanguard badge that lets you collect Merits requires you be level 35. Rapid merit drops as opposed to the glacial speed of earning them in doors is sort of the whole point of laying siege to the Mothership.
They could've put a virtual arcade in Pocket D instead of RWZ. Use the room every AE building has, but give it Rave lights or something. The roleplayers would complain, but Pocket D is just a dead zone some people use to zone hop quickly year round cept during the seasonal events if you're not on Virtue. -
Darkfall? Never heard of it. Was it one of those myriad MMOs that boasted they'd be the EQ killer back in the day but were nothing but vaporware?
SW:G, #2? Lol. The most genius thing was that SOE managed to tap a market of fanboys who PAID A FEE for the privilege of being a Beta tester, by virtue of being Star Wars (Sure does remind me of another MMO with "Star" in the title). EQ and UO had far more reaching impact on the MMO genre. Oh, and to let Raph Koster sit back writing treatises on "fun" but not let him near your devs or you'll get un-fun. -
I'm surprised they haven't just made a vet reward badge that globally unlocks locked *earnable* (not purchased) costume pieces like Vanguard, Roman, Rularuu, Auras, etc at level 1. It seems like something that would be beloved by everyone who has been hanging around for 6 years and have probably had to go through the tedious chore of unlocking costume pieces a dozen times over.
That or flag your account with a freebie coupon for a Booster Pack of your choice. If they've paid 6 years solid...what's the harm in sacrificing 10 bucks? -
She must've visited the Shadow Shard. All the stargate teams out there used to have that warped face. Of course, there were probably only about 10 people servers-wide that ever noticed. SS r popular place.
side-face is actually kind of awesome. It should be a bug that's hunted down and made into a real face choice--when you can't fix it, turn it into a feature working as intended! -
Quote:Yeah, like an Olympic Sprint or something. I think they burned out a lot of names for running the various Prestige sprints
Close. I would like a "Natural, athletic" run for Natural characters, not to change the Ninja run for Ninjas. -
I figured it was just to bring them in line with the rest of the vanguard-named pieces. Vanguard weapon, Talsorian weapon..meh, whatever, as long as they don't change how they look.
Auras for weapons would be neat. They'd probably make it a booster pack though...humbug. -
Quote:when it was first in I thought it was the special olympics kid run (arms thrown back behind you pretending you're an airplane stance) from the competition's +Runspeed +Jumpheight ninja run travel power. I was glad when I actually saw someone using it and it wasn't
I just wish it didn't look the way it did -- like my character is rushing over to elbow-jab someone. It could've been worse. At least it doesn't look like you're aiming to faceplant yourself as you run.
