Okay, speculation:
It will not be co-op.
It will be smaller than you're thinking, on the order of the existing Ouroboros story arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is rather odd that the thread title mentions Roman 'maps' rather than a Roman zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I had to wager a guess, it's to include reference to both the zone and its custom mission maps (since most of the missions simply could not have non-custom ones, unless they were all Troll Caves).
Cimerora was leaked on the zone search list, after all.. -

It could be this is just content added to existing zones. It doesn't specifically say this is a zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
Excellent point, I had completely overlooked that it didn't actually specify that it was a zone just new content.
So now heroes have more zones and more content than they need while Villains run the same story arcs over and over. ^_~

Except that the Midnighter Club was already leaked on the search list for zones... -

The Midnighters hold a secret that could bring the alien assault to an end, but without the help of the Heroes of Paragon City it will remain Lost forever.
[/ QUOTE ]
I notice that "Lost" is capitalized... I think that they are a very underused part of this game, and I hope this means we will be exploring their ties to the Rikti more fully!

Midnight Squad...ending the Rikti conflict...10-20 level range...
Plus the Lost.
Investigating how to save Hero 1, perhaps? -

Rome? Ancient Rome?
The Coming Storm? The villain of Time?
Path of the Dark, anyone?

Yes, exactly!
'There is a familiar threat in an ancient land and the Midnighters need the help of both Heroes and Villains to stop it.'
You don't suppose....?

The funny thing being that I recall there being complaints about the GvE edition back in the day too.
Anyway, I still disagree with your initial premise, which is that they created the costume parts then said "Let's be jerks and charge money for these, instead of giving them out as part of an event!" -

THIS pack is not. There's no new versions of the game that came with it. This is content that, before now, would have been given out as the holiday bonus. Now we have to pay for it.
BAD THING.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh. I actually forgot to make my point.
The closest thing to a full costume set we've been given for a holiday event is the Laurels + Sandals + Toga combo, and originally that was exclusive too, but much more insipidly so, requiring you to get someone else to buy and join the game.
So my point is, I'd assume the dress was created specifically for Sister Psyche, at which point they decided to expand it into a player character option and add in the extra patterns (taken directly from Sexy Jay's suggestion list, by the way, which I'm not sure how I feel about) and tuxes.
Otherwise I personally don't think we would've gotten them without some Jay-begging, and another issue-long wait (or worse). -

Additionally, I think they goofed a bit in this case and underestimated how much of a clamor new costume parts, period, causes.

They knew this would happen and a vocal group would make there presence known*...they also know that there are those who would be willing to pay...the risk vs reward is stacked in their favor!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I was under the impression one of the reasons for making it a bonus pack was to entice those who are going to actually use them for a wedding or other formal event in-game.
In other words, I don't think they entirely realized that not just love birds holding online parties were going to want it, but just about anybody who loves making costumes. -

I really don't see the big difference regarding GvE. An updated DVD disc for both games versus my original copies of CoH and CoV, plus the $10 GvE goodie pack...why that makes a difference in what they can get away with, I'm not entirely sure.
I'm perfectly willing to agree that $10 is slightly too pricey (somewhere closer to $4.99 - $7.99 would've flown better), however.
I'm also alarmed, though not panicked by this concept. Again, they're most likely testing the waters and hopefully they'll realize that only 1 bonus pack a year is probably for the best.
I also hope that they'll think a bit harder about the composition of such packs. As was mentioned before, the tuxes scream magician, and I don't think it's entirely fair that a costume piece with that sort of extraneous use is pay-locked. (It's a similar complaint to that I have with the Cabal Hat and the theoretical possibility of the Roman set being pay-locked.)
Additionally, I think they goofed a bit in this case and underestimated how much of a clamor new costume parts, period, causes. -

I wonder how my winged character would look in a tuxedo? Well, when I get paid on Friday, I'll find out.

Before you move too fast, I've *heard* (but can't confirm, as I'm not in game and my comp is on the fritz again) that you can't combine the new tux coat with wings or capes, at least on males. You may want to double-check that first
[/ QUOTE ]
Confirmed. Females can use wings with the tuxes and males cannot. -

I really do believe that most people playing this game would, provided it didn't affect free content, be willing to pay extra for packs of costumes/emotes/powers. But I REALLY hope we get better value for money in the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
Call me crazy, but something that might make folks happy is by unlocking the Roman outfit tomorrow, for free, to everyone (including future characters - not just as a badge-tied one).
Of course, I suppose I just want even more costume goodness that everyone knows exists... -

And, by some perverse coincidence, it actually works out for me that there isn't a new tux pants costume part.... Hah!

Bonus regarding the new tuxes: I get to make my classical magician (Zatanna-inspired) costume not look like crap! (Having previously used the vest jacket and a set of sleeves that had a few small clipping issues.)

Honestly, that is the first thing I thought of when I saw that the tuxes were for women too.

Just checked again and it still hasn't awarded the badge/power for having Yin's. I remembered to /bug it this time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a bug. Penelope's arc has nothing to do with Time Travel. It's Doc Delilah's "The Buried Past" along with Agent G's arc that unlock the badge and power.
Confirmed since I just went through Faultline on my DB/WP the other day. The badge plinged as soon as I called in the last mission to the Doc. -

Welcome on board, fellow British person. Was it you who wrote the Westin Phipps arcs, too?

So we all have to get along or the Battalion will squash us flat. Of course, whether or not they'll be the Storm is questionable. What comes to mind is: If the Rikti, to some extent, look upon the Battalion as scientific deities of a sort, how are we going to convince them to fight against their very benefactors?
[/ QUOTE ]
*** I8 - SPOILERS ****
Just answering this point. The Battalion are now mentioned in the game. In one of the missions clues you receive we find out the Rikti fought an alien invasion of their world a (few?) humdred years ago. The invading force was named The Battalion. The Rikti here on Primal Earth will likely see our dimension's Battalion as a threat and enemy based on their history with them on their world.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. It's been a while since I've done anything past Levantera's arc, so I forgot that the Battalion and the Benefactors are different races. -
I have to agree with Rush here.
"All your petty squabbles amongst yourselves and your Rikti counterparts must be brought to an end, before it reaches its inevitable crescendo!"
Seeing as how that "it" and "its" would be grammatically incorrect if referring to our fights between heroes and villains and heroes and villains and Rikti, I'm pretty sure they instead refer to The Coming Storm.
So we all have to get along or the Battalion will squash us flat. Of course, whether or not they'll be the Storm is questionable. What comes to mind is: If the Rikti, to some extent, look upon the Battalion as scientific deities of a sort, how are we going to convince them to fight against their very benefactors?
What I personally expect/want to see is an all-out cross-faction multi-level plot. One that combines the 5th Column, the Circle of Thorns, Arachnos, and the Shivans. (In other words, the major factions we interact with in the Ouroboros arcs.) -
On that note, RIP Tony Jay.
Such an awesome voice actor. -
Further thoughts:
The camera is turned on Requiem when Silos states "The catalyst that brings about the unraveling of the cosmos starts here!". We know from To Save a Thousand Worlds that Requiem has the ability to conquer an entire planet with his legion of Nictus, and also can tamper with dimensional stability. That isn't to say Requiem is necessarily correlated with that line, but it's notable.
Another interesting thing that Silos says is "All your petty squabbles amongst yourselves and your Rikti counterparts must be brought to an end, before it reaches its inevitable crescendo!"
It sounds like The Coming Storm will be something that will require cooperation between hero, villain, and perhaps even Rikti-kind. (Not a big surprise in that regard.)
And finally, one of the things Silos mentions you may use the Pillar of Ice and Flame for is "...[to] fulfill whatever destiny you see laid out for yourself." This line is paired with a shot of a villain fighting Snakes, I believe in the "Rescue the Arachnos troops" mission in Mercy Island. Sounds like a reference to Project: DESTINY to me... -
Woah. That ending bit of music...was awesome.
And the trailer as a whole is impeccable.
And it certainly raises many more questions...
