For some reason I predict an inevitable argument about the game being too easy.
FWIW, I haven't noticed particular trouble with Malta, but I also haven't fought them very much since the change/bug. -
While we're kvetching (woah, Firefox recognizes that?), how about lowering the requirement for Architect Engineer from the Writer badge to say, the 25 plays one? After having had a significant number of people play my arc, and farming it a bit myself, I'm not even to 50 yet.
It seems like far too many of the badges were designed under a utopian but ultimately naive ideal. -

Again, great set, still more of a fantasy style powerset, than superhero.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't really understand this. Not when we had SWAT shields and Blue Steel in-game far before any other example of shields (ie, Cimerorans). -
Yes to usage-based mission rewards, no to permanent bonuses.

Secondly, if Snipes get their own category, why don't Assassin Strikes?
[/ QUOTE ]
This one's easy: There are more Snipe powers than Assassination powers.
I'm not entirely opposed to a few AS sets, though. They can't just re-use Snipe sets, however, Bill. That'd let Stalkers get around the inability to slot for interrupt. -

....Why suggest they implement a workaround to a bug instead of just suggesting they fix that bug?

If I were Recluse I'd wonder how I ended up in the only dimension with a "good" Statesman
[/ QUOTE ]
But it's to LR's benefit to be here. At least with a good Statesman who upholds the law and has to follow "the rules" LR has already carved out a reasonable powerbase and can continue working on plans.
When you have to spend all of your time fighting off opponents who are just as powerful and ruthless (if not more so) as yourself, you don't really have time for empire building.
Cooperation is rare in that kind of environment.
[/ QUOTE ]
A very good point. Tyrant and Reichsman not being constrained by morality, I'd bet that the Recluses of those worlds were beaten to death with their own detached limbs fairly early in their super-villain careers.

The running theory is that Stefan never left the Well of the Furies in Praetoria. -

So, is this the Coming Storm?
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't look like it... surely they'd be hyping that up like mad.
[/ QUOTE ]
Surely they wouldn't be callous enough to ramp up expectations for the ongoing plot then finish it in a paid expansion.
Frankly, I like the idea of having a nice, separate plot. Not everything has to be about the Coming Storm. -
Also, I'd like to point out that CoH's current main competitor, WoW, certainly isn't winning people over with graphical superiority.
-
[ QUOTE ]
That's dumb. Businesses that ignore competition are destined to fail. Competition is supposed to force change for the better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ignoring all logic and reason just because someone else is making a competing game is equally dumb.
Could the game use a graphical update? Sure why not. Do I personally think it needs one? Not really. Is the fact that there are two competing games coming change either? Not at all. CoH already stood up to its competitors. It's called I14 and Going Rogue. -

Going Rouge is the change for competition.

What.

since power customization will be in Going Rouge

Source?
Also, personally, my heroes rather go rogue.
And, incidentally, I wouldn't at all mind a graphical update, and I know one's coming in some form or another (as per a recent Posi interview), but I also wouldn't call it critical to the game's survival. Nor do I think it's a key selling point - if people like CoH, they like CoH.

Yes, because Praetoria is secretly on the moon. -

My point: none of these changes really improve gameplay much, if at all. But they are nevertheless critical to keeping the game up to date and enjoyable.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree. I also disagree with using "OHNOES COMPETITION" as a justification for any change. -

Are ATs so desirable in the first place? I was under the impression that most people were already in favor of freedom in character designs, and that archetypes were just an arbitrary approach to character creation for the sake of simplicity and game balance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your second sentence answers your first.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cute. Now bother to explain how giving tanks a mindfully-designed ranged set with both advantages and disadvantages would throw off game balance.
[/ QUOTE ]
The disadvantages required to make the set balanced would also make it not very fun to play. -

I also don't know of any comic book character that is both superhumanly tough and uses big, explosive weapons. The closest would be War Machine, but that's not exactly the same thing. Lobo, maybe? -
Blurring the lines between ATs just defeats the point of having ATs. Making the set annoying in order to make it come close to being balanced is hardly an optimal solution.

v Down there. v

One of those "down there" is this:
The Time Bandits, Arc ID 39008
I very much recommend this arc. It could use some tweaking, but with a bit of work, I personally feel it could earn a Dev's Choice. It's MUCH better than several Dev's Choice arcs I've already played, as a matter of fact.
Kudos.
[/ QUOTE ]
The compliment is very much felt.
I'm currently struggling with trying to clarify the second mission. Honestly, I wrote the first two missions for City of history buffs.
Edit: I cleaned it up the best I could, at least for now. I really don't want Mender Silos just going into an infodump on the man. I was hoping more folks would appreciate the context. -
[ QUOTE ]
So moving you hand a quarter of an inch to the right and clicking a the mouse button a second time is to much of an inconvenience? You would want the developers to divert their attention from content and bug fixes to install this bit of code?
Interesting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, because Pohsyb programming a new UI feature would halt production on all new zones, new powersets, new villain groups, and new missions. -
You can already just single click to choose a server, but if I'm reading the rest of it right, he means double click on a character to log them in, right? If so, /signed.

This is one of the reasons why I love the Hess TF.

The annoying part is that the problem with the map is very minor. The glowie spawn points are all standard for that type of end room, but the geometry is slightly different.
The glowies don't so much spawn inside the wall as they do the raised flooring. It's really "just" a matter of raising a few of them up about a foot and removing one (that spawns the glowie inside/around one of the examination tables).
Not to mention that it only drastically affects smaller glowies... -

Well IIRC everyone except for Jack is still here from the original team. If they are not they quit... or somethin... I don't remember.

There's a decent handful of people that stuck with Cryptic, I believe.
