Degenerative might really bork up the equations.
Regen is based on Max HP. Degenerative lowering Max HP is, in a sense, a Regen debuff. If no one does the math by the time I get to work tomorrow, I'll try to calculate it myself.
  2. I have an SS/WP/Mu Brute who solo'd the LGTF before Incarnate Powers. I did the Rikti Warzone Challenge when only scrappers were doing it. I have an Ill/Dark Troller who can perma-softcap a team, take alpha, heal, debuff, and (with decent IOs) probably solo GMs... This character isn't one of those. It's a character I want to play purely for the concept. As a number cruncher, I know Force Field sucks for damage. Was just hoping to get some insight as to a build which doesn't completely fly in the face of how I envision the character. Worst case scenario... Elec/Devices/Force Blaster is looking pretty close to what I picture.
  3. Crap... Thanks for the help, guys.
  4. You know that old egg... "If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be?"

Well, for me... it's Force Fields. My first 50 and original main was an FF/Elec Defender. His damage was subpar, but he could make a team unstoppable! Now, I want an Elec/Force Field Controller who can take advantage of Containment to really get some good damage via Force Fields.

    Now, my plea for help....

According to Mids, Repulsion Bomb does not benefit from Containment... is this true...? Is my dream already shattered?! I've changed my Mids to show that it does (assuming this is a bug) but if this is by design, I want to scrap the character before I get any further.

Second, Procs or Sets? It has a horrendous base recharge, so I'd be willing to invest in some PPMs, permitting they're worth their weight.
  5. Still willing to donate to the "Make Safeguards/Mayhems a PvP mode" fund. =/

    WHY, DEVS?! WHYYYY?!

    *continues leveling his Ill/Dark*

On a serious note, not sure if I should be going that route... Psi is looking pretty good conceptually, and Leviathan is looking like safety + some fun + another pet.... Thoughts?
  7. Anyone know how this proc works in Rise to the Challenge?
  8. Saw this guy in the War Zone one day. Thought it was pretty damn good.

  9. I really like the idea of a Dark/Mental/Soul build. Lots of AoE Stun to stack means easy to get in for Drain Psyche.

Use Ouro and find an enemy that does a lot of damage to you without killing you (while in Rest). The I don't know your build, but it may be beneficial to turn off Enhancements for this. Any +Max HP bonuses generally make it harder to farm for damage. Just leave it on overnight. I used 2 DE Boulders set to +1 on my Brute (with "Enhancements Do Nothing" enabled). Might be a good starting point for ya.

Unfortunately, I don't think the reactor will do enough damage to actually help with the badge. Only HP below your Base HP count toward the badge.

    Farm Builds.

Several people in this thread would also say that Alexander Hamilton was a president. Just because you know it to be true doesn't mean it is. Prove it with data that we can review- not anecdotal evidence.

    Nice stealth edit. =p

For the record, I've not once boasted "significantly larger numbers". I have simply said that I think Soul is more effective than Mu for farming and said why.
So you don't think it can perform better than the time-tested option, but you think it performs better...? Your rationalizations and retreats are filled with statements like this.

Also, negative rep ftw. Only wish it wasn't due to speaking logically. =/ I could pick apart every whole in your logic and presumptions, but I'm not going to. Post the data or gtfo. =p Don't deflate your claim when someone asks you to prove it. That's just tacky.

    Farm Builds.

I applaud your attempts at rationalizing, but your methods aren't agreed as the most efficient. Post a Herostats and if we're wrong, we're wrong. The Smurphy posted 19 minutes of data. That's well outside the margin of luck. If you can boast significantly larger numbers, then prove it...

    ur rong

Go to an Analyst or Fateweaver and look at the bottom two options. One of them should be "I (don't) want to fight bosses even when solo." or something similar. If you're teaming, however, you will run into bosses, yes. But if you're farming for profit and not PLing...

    y r u on a teem/

If you want to farm with teammates, set the mission for whatever settings you feel comfortable with. Then go into the mission (alone) and spawn the entire map. Then invite the other people. That way you don't get bosses and can still farm relatively efficiently.

no rly... ur doin it rong

Why are you "farming" with bosses enabled?
  15. *nods* I need to clock my DM/Shield... *rubs chin*
  16. I stand corrected. =p Nice job. Fire/Kin, I assume...?

There's your ignorant assumption. It's not one or the other. Most people use Facebook to stay in contact WITH their real friends since their real friends tend to have jobs, school, and families of their own... Thus leaving very little time for meet ups at Denny's.
  20. Obviously the people who are against facebook have no RL friends. *nods*

    Patch on test...?

Regardless, the laptop is being sent to ASUS for free diagnostics and repair...
  22. Decent guide. Glad to see there is another 50'd Fire/EA Brute. =)

You missed my point. Dark Regen is part of his armor set whereas Siphon Life is part of your attack set. The OP did not use any mitigation from his attack set to help increase his survivability. You did.
Okay, I'll take that... IF he can't use his secondary to attack and/or kill mobs. Death is the ultimate debuff.

    Quote:
I think it is a nit worth picking. I don't think any of the carny encounters would have been survived without it.

It generally looked like endurance was a major bottleneck on the dm/shield. That time it crashed and health went orange could just have easily had a sad ending.
Yeah, I mentioned that in my original post with the video. I was watching another screen and not paying attention to my end use. =p BUT... I did go from 0 to full end, and have enough time to retoggle. Thus, showing the power of IOs... Which in my opinion, is the topic of discussion here. See (A) below.

    Quote:
Couldn't watch it until now, but that's ok, Clouded pretty much said what I would have.

I survived solely on the merits of dark armor and IOs, whereas you leveraged shields, IOs, and leaned on your attacks as a crutch. Not only did shields receive the heal, but I saw your endurance bottoming out pretty damn fast. Without dark consumption, you'd have eaten dirt.

That said, it was still awesome.

I think I need to reiterate what the point of my thread was, and what it wasn't. I was never here to say "Look how awesome Dark Armor is" or "Look how awesome I can play."

Someone told me "Dark Armor sucks. It can't tank anything." This is my response.
Once again, I'll take those points, if you fulfill the same requirements yourself. I dare to you test your survivability without using your secondary.

    (A) My point, is that none of these feats would be possible without IOs. Forgive the crude analogy, but lets look at this as apples to applesauce.

Person 1: Applesauce is so much better than just apples!
Person 2: No kidding... That's because there's extra stuff in applesauce to make it better than just apples.

Now, replace and try it again.

Person 1: DA with IOs is so much better than just DA!
Person 2: No kidding... That's because there's extra stuff in the DA with IOs to make it better than just DA.

Both videos show the power of IOs... not their individual sets. That's the point I'm getting at.

My challenge to you: If you honestly think DA doesn't suck, copy the char to the test server and frankenslot for identical Enh values. No IO bonuses. Then hit the record button and give it another go.

Overall, both characters are very strong and nicely built.
Right, siphon life is part of my ST attack chain... He also used Dark Regen... which is a more powerful and PBAOE version of Siphon Life, lol. My scrapper having to use his self heal compared to a tank having to use his self heal on the same groups should say something. =p If the challenge is to make a dark/fire tank exactly like his, **** that... what's the point? Ill do it in mids, but I won't waste my time and inf on that.

Forgive the periodically low FPS, low graphics settings, and stupid mistakes. Currently having problems with my laptop and was watching my component temps on another screen. >_>
