  1. That happened on one run I did... Person just died and boom after they hosped they were back in with us.
  2. Yeah VERY disappointed you can't convert the enhancements... even more disappointed you cannot trade them on market.

So basically you have to run this a bazillion times if you want a full set with the way the RNG is working for me LOL!

Uhmm it is not pay to win, but you can go ahead and think that if you want lol.

The buffs do not let you WIN the game.
    The buffs are TEMPORARY.
There are already in game items for free and infinitely available to you called inspirations which have the same basic effect
If you belong to a SG you can get in game buffs from the empowerment station that last an hour.
Amplifiers do not allow your character to do something "super awesome omg I am now 50."

These are less "pay to win" than the xp boosters.
  4. Superior ATOs are account bound. But... in order to make a ATO superior you have to have it slotted and then catalyze it (Catalyzing is done in the enhancement screen...like combining enhancements).

So in other words you could not use a brute to catalyze a Corruptor ATO.

As far as I know when you go from VIP to Freedom... you have to unlock all your toons again - so you can re-choose which toons you want unlocked.

    No clue about Alignment Merits.

As far as itrials go...on Freedom they are basically ran non-stop in Pocket D. The trial success rate is quite high on most trials. The last trial I failed was a few weeks ago and that was a Mag when it first came out.
  5. I love my "The Really Hard Way" badge.. completes my toon's name:

I Wanna Rock You The Really Hard Way
  6. My dom is an Earth dom... I proced out volcanic gases and enjoy it much more

Earth is my favorite "control" set - my dom is an earth/fire/fire and my troller is an earth/kin/stone.
  7. A friend and I worked on mids while skyping and found you can get the 22% if you take Psi Mastery (Mind Link) + Tactics + a Kismet. We got our tohit to 22.1%.

I never noticed how much leadership sucks on a Dom before we starting messing around in mids.

Needless to say I will not be switching to Psi Mastery on my dom though. Having an insta snipe just isn't worth it even though it does awesome damage.
  8. Yes Mids is your friend. I use mids for every character to make sure I don't run into a slotting problem. Mids is also like a game to me... Some days/nights I will sit down and just do 4-5-6 random builds to see how good I can make them.
  9. Not sure if you are aware:
You can create your own SG/base and at the SG registrar convert influence to prestige (the ratio is meh).

Not sure how much inf you are wanting to spend on this, but that is an option.
  10. I actually enjoyed/used every freebie (except the princess hat...cuz uhmm all my toons are guys LOL)

I have found some people are so unhappy with everything...they complain about everything. Has nothing to do with the actual item, but more a reflection of them.

Uhh don't you get 1 token per month if you are converting from the legacy system?

So if he bought a box and subbed for a year he would have:
    1 for box
    12 for the year
    1 for the 1 year

    ...not 5 for a year

They are so inconsequential in terms of representing the style of gameplay in the 1-50 game, or the manner in which you approach the 1-50 game, that they do little to nothing to make your point, IMO (assuming that your point is meant to be a counter-argument to mine that the standard 1-50 game does not prepare players for the Figure Out How To Beat The Mission By Failing A Dozen Times style of "challenge" presented by the iTrials, with the severe time constraints being a major contributing factor to that).

You are comparing the oranges of the timed iTrials to a few tangerines amidst the mountain of apples that is the regular 1-50 game. If that is meant to stand in refutation of what "I was saying," methinks you need to try again.
And yet some of us like failing; to a degree. This game shouldn't be:
    Enter Mission
    Mash Buttons
    Win

I personally love that the harder content in this game requires leadership and organization. And I have only ever failed an itrial once because of time and that was when MoM first came out and we weren't getting Shalice held quick enough. This game is already a piece of cake form levels 1-50... I enjoy what little challenge the trials do bring. Heck..admittedly the biggest CHALLENGE to an itrial is getting the ADD people to focus for more than 60 seconds.

But not having them never stopped you from taking part in any other content. Now if you don't have incarnate powers you are locked out of the newer content, so you are forced to either accept never reaching the max level (Levelling being the main reason a lot of people play MMO's in the first place) or to run these trials. They are in that sense not optional.

Uhmm there is no "level" gained from the Hybrid powers.....

But just like IO's if you didn't have HO's you could still do everything in the game. That is the difference you are missing. But you are missing a lot of things so that is ok.

I am apparently missing your "logic."

I mentioned main tanking a hami raid, so I didn't organise it but wasn't exactly sat there leeching. And nice way to claim you know what I have done in game.

Participating and leading are two VERY distinct things. Just because you tanked a Hami does not mean you have a clue how to organize and/or lead one.

    Take your own advise son.
    Not your son....

You have still failed to PROVE your initial claim that leadership and a knowledge of a tf/trial was not needed prior to incarnate content. Yet many others have told you exactly why it was needed and is not a new thing.. your rebuttal "Well i don't care about that." You cannot make a broad generalized claim (however ill-informed) about something and then refuse to see the truth by refuting "well that doesn't matter to me." Your initial claim was false...as you have been told time and time again. Incarnate content is not some new evil that requires forced teaming/leadership/knowledge. Even the Hybrid slot will have a solo path Soon™.

Maybe you should have said something a little less generalized like "I do not like that Destiny/Lore slots have to be unlocked to participate in the Magesterium Trial." That would have been a common complaint....refuted by explaining that level shifts are needed to fight at a beneficial level to your teammates...so you are not leeching.

Your assertion that any PUG prior to incarnate content could complete any task in this game without a prior knowledge or good leadership...is false..plain and simple. Your claim does nothing but slight those who have spent hours learning how to complete certain tasks; Hami etc....

For someone who does not know much about the history of CoH ...you seem to think you know a lot.

And FYI: Itrials and Incarnate content are not required parts of this game. Nothing in this game is REQUIRED. Heck some people have played for years and still do not have level 50 toons.

If you do not want to do incarnate content...that is your choice; kind of like participating in hami raids. But just like hami raids...if you want the POWER that comes with something...you either do it or you don't. And FYI HOs were a godsend back in the day (and I still use a few here and there on some of my builds).

Back before Issue 9 and inventions... slots were MUCH tighter because you had SOs/HOs at level 50. So if you wanted to slot powers to make them balanced it was tricky. My empathy defender LOVED HOs (Golgis - Heal/End).. Slot three of those and a recharge in a heal and you were set... otherwise you had to use 5-6 slots to get the same results (3 heals, 1-2 end redux, and 1 recharge). So while HOs were not required...they sure made you feel a lot more powerful (kinda like incarnate powers hmmm).

And FYI.. stating that certain things do not require leadership and knowledge outside of incarnate content is simply degrading to those who have actually done them and led them. Have you ever done the Abandoned Sewer trial?? No?? Then you have NO clue what you are referring to. Ever led a hami raid?? No?? Hmmmmm.....

Best not to speak out about things you have no idea about...it tends to discredit your argument when you are speaking from your posterior

I've been to every Bay Area M&G/Herocon/Summit and I'm a huge fan of the devs in general. But if they treated the rest the game like this there would be torches and pitchforks everywhere. The legacy code deal is one thing. But the truth is somebody fairly high up has made the decision (repeatedly) that it's not worth it to them for PS to meet their own stated commitments for bases... let alone other things players may want. It's sad that the legacy code has become such a large crutch for every form of inaction on their part... and how many players are just buying that little to nothing can be done to rectify things.
They have tried repeatedly to do things for bases...what you don't SEE is that those attempts at improving them have caused HUGE issues...not being able to enter your base...bases being randomly lost...etc etc.

Their stated commitment??? Everything I have read the past few years is that they will try..and do what they can....which they have.

I think people tend to forget about the things that have went wrong with base code modifications that have went live... like you know.. the one where defense items attack people.

I'm sorry but if you do not have a lot of experience in coding...you have no idea how completely complex this system is...and how utterly fragile it is.

I take the lil bits we do get...and say THANKS....and continue to hope that more lil bits will be offered in the future. Bases are a niche item in this game...and provide NO financial benefit to the team. Even a completely new system that could be sold on the Paragon Market...would unfortunately cost a lot of money...even after "purchases." Creating a base system would require TONS of man hours..and testing.... for what???

I want more base stuff .. trust me, but I am also appreciative that we have what we have and when we get new things (the new placement coding for example) I am ecstatic! There is no big steps to be taken when it comes to bases...it has to be teeny weeny baby steps...otherwise.. KABOOM

This has been discussed many times on the forums... If you look at this from a business stand point there is no incentive to do this.

Even if Bases 2.0 became a paid feature; which there would be huge issues surrounding that... I seriously doubt a completely revamped system would garner enough cash to make up for the hundreds of hours needed to create/test such a system.

Trust me... I am all for base love, but you also have to realize that at this stage of the game's life... money is an issue. Paragon cannot afford to put hundreds of hours into something that they will see no financial benefit from...because those hundreds of hours could be used to make something that will actually help pay the bills

I would love to see a team who has never participated in a hami raid, mothership raid, stf... pull it off successfully without any insight from the web or other players... yeah that would be a train wreck in the making.

I get the feeling yer anti-itrial very much so...but trying to convince others that itrials are the new evil which are destroying the game and requiring people to actually LEAD something to success...is pure BS.

Aside from regular missions MOST content in this game requires a knowledge of what the heck you are doing and being able to tell your team what needs to be done. Sure nowadays I can do an ITF and not say 1 word the entire time...then again I can also do that with a BAF/LAM. The more itrials are around the less leaders have to give step by step instructions....because GASP people are learning the mechanics/strategies necessary to complete them....and simply doing them without instruction. I ran a BAF today and I said the following the entire time:

    XXPlayerXX will be pulling AVs
    Team 1/2 South...3 North

That was it....and that was all that was needed. Heck I ran a SLAM yesterday and my instructions were:

    nothing.

And amazingly everything went off without a hitch.

To your assertion that leadership was not needed for tfs/trials prior to itrials I say:

    This is absolutely not true.

Here are some things off the top of my head that required good leadership and knowledge of game mechanics before itrials:

    STF
    ITF
    KHTF
    LRSF
    Mother Ship Raid
Hamidon Raid - both the pre i9 and post i9
    Abandoned Sewer Trial

    etc etc etc

To try and blame incarnate content for needing leadership is absurd. All the TFs and raids I listed required someone who knew the tf/trial...and an ability of them to lead..and others to follow simple instructions.

    Base Updates?

Bases are on a legacy system. The dev who created them has long since left the game. What does that mean? That means they have to be VERY careful when messing with the code otherwise it could unintentionally cause MAJOR havoc with existing bases.

At the last Player Summit they acknowledged that bases were something players wanted some attention thrown at...and basically stated the whole "legacy" issue in messing with them too much. They did however hint that SOME base love will be happening soon. Now what that means can be anything from a few in games items being available in bases...adding something new... who knows.

Trust me when I say they are aware of the desires by the base building community, but they also have to be careful so as not to cause a catastrophic cascade and completely render the system unusable.
  20. Isn't the point of a blaster to be somewhat of a glass cannon?

I think these changes will go a long way to improve the blaster AT. Your inherent is not supposed to make you a God and mez proof.... even on Doms there is a threshold that has to be met for them to be mez resistant.

Think I will wait for the changes to hit beta... actually test them and give objective feedback before I comment any further (I know silly idea )

  22. I prefer corruptors, but actually am in the process of planning out a rad/psi/psi defender.

For a duo radiation emission will come in handy for debuffing/buffing/healing.

Of course a cold/ defender or /cold corruptor will provide your teammate with some nice defense buffs as well as offering some handy debuffs.

Best advice I can give you... roll a few different types and see which you prefer more
