Also got a text from a friend to sign up. He will be on his blaster: Bellator Corvus his global is @Bellator Invictum
  2. Nothing is easy when it comes to changing/adding to bases. Your suggestion would take quite a bit of effort.

Trust me I feel your frustration when it comes to base items, but I am also realistic in what can be done with such a garbled mess of coding

Before the Vanguard Pack, a character needed to be level 35 to collect Vanguard Salvage and then needed to collect 200 of those in order to craft a Vanguard weapon. This is quite an investment if that weapon is central to your character, since you'll have already earned 35 levels and beaten up quite a lot of Rikti. I have earned the weapons on multiple characters, but pretty much only used them on one - Nathaniel, my Mercs/Traps Matermind because it was a long rifle. I admit, I was VERY satisfied because his long hours of using that insultingly small Mastermind rifle were now over and he was using a really cool gun.

Then I "earned" the Vanguard Pack by virtue of being subscribed to the game for three months (so for the low-low cost of $45), and then proceeded to remodel a LOT of my older characters to now use Vanguard weapons, a well as making new ones to us them. Emillia got dual Vanguard Katanas, Kim got dual Vanguard Broadswords, the Steel Rook got a Redding Rail Rifle, Annabella got a new Vanguard Katana, Hagan got a Vanguard Axe and a Vanguard Shield and so forth. Do you know what I remember from that Vanguard Pack? Because it wasn't typing my credit card in. What I remember is the unmitigated sheer fun I had with the characters in ways that I could NEVER have had if I were working under the old rules.

My point here is that praising the satisfaction someone feels from the achievement which unlocks a certain piece of content typically isn't even applicable to the kind of person who pays for it, because that person - like me - cares nothing for the achievement and just wants the content to play through. You're essentially comparing apples to oranges and it's why the "Is it not the effort that makes it all the sweeter?" doesn't work on people like me. Some people have something to prove and are driven by the sense of achievement and accomplishment. Others just want to have something and treat the "accomplishment" as a cost, thus they're willing to pay a cost of another kind if it seems like a better deal.

This, then, becomes less a question of accomplishment and honour and integrity and a question comparing the cost of time vs. the cost of money vs. the cost of effort. Some people play sports for the love of the game. Some people play sports because they pay well. It's sort of the same thing here.
    I completely agree

If you wanna know what this all boils down to I would suggest you THOROUGHLY read the works of Erik Erikson (re: Psycho Social Development specifically regarding ego quality/ego strength) and Immanuel Kant (re: Jealousy and Envy).

    2) Block of Ice vs Fossilise - Block of Ice is, again, faster at activating.
    3) Frostbite vs Stone Cages - Stone Cages wins because it can be stacked with Stalagmites to create a pseudo-hold.
    4) Flash Freeze vs Salt Crystals - Salt Crystals is better, despite being a PBAoE sleep, simply because it activates over twice as fast and doesn't have to delay the sleep for meaningless damage.
    5) Ice Slick vs Earthquake - Earthquake is better because it debuffs to-hit and defence rather than speed.
    6) Shiver vs Quicksand - Shiver's area coverage is huge compared to Quicksand's. However, Quicksand does do a nice -25% defence debuff. This, along with Quicksand being able to be placed around corners for mitigation, makes it the superior power.
    7) Glacier vs Volcanic Gasses - Volcanic Gasses is the best AoE hold in the game so it wins by default.
    8) Jack Frost vs Animated Stone - This deserves its own miniature breakdown.
    a) Jack's Ice Sword vs Stone Fist - Stone Fist wins because it can stun. Damage-wise they're both easily resisted, but at least stunning is useful.
    b) Jack's Ice Bolt vs Hurl Boulder - Whilst Hurl Boulder does do a lot of damage it is very slow, especially when compared to the speed of Ice blasts. Jack's Ice Bolt wins.
    c) Jack's Freezing Touch vs Seismic Smash - The damage is around the same, one is DoT the other is up-front. Freezing Touch's hold lasts quite a bit longer and doesn't rely on RNG. Freezing Touch wins.
    d) Jack's Greater Ice Sword vs Seismic Smash - Jack's attack does more damage but it doesn't hold. Can also fire Seismic Smash off twice before you can with Jack's attack, increasing DPS. A draw.
    e) Resistance vs Resistances - Jack is still pretty fragile, even with the buffs. The Animated Stone is pretty resistant to all damage and is excellent when given resistance buffs. Animated Stone's Resistance wins.
Going by the number of wins will make it a draw. However, survivability is crucial meaning Animated Stone comes on top.
    9) Arctic Air vs Stalagmites - Two incomparable powers. Both are really good. A draw.

So, that is 7-3 to Earth Control. Poor Ice Control needs some love.

I'm not going to go into huge detail about this, but if Electric Blast is awful then that means Electricity Assault is too. It misses out on a number of things that are standard to Assault sets, such as a Utility/Survivability power (e.g. Drain Psyche, Chilling Embrace, etc), a PBAoE (e.g. Engulfing Darkness, Tremor, etc), and a Tier 3 blast (e.g. Blaze, Power Burst, etc). The lack of these things hurts the set quite considerably.
And this explains why my dom is an earth dom and my troller is an earth troller

I absolutely love earth control. I haven't used ice since base raids were around; used to have an ice/rad troller.
  5. Did a summer event just now - everyone on team go the kb-kd on first run. Alted toons and same results.

    It's not even my birthday.

I have been giving my procs away to friends/globals who need them. I will save a few for myself in the event I want to use them one day. Only used one of the 20 so far I have received; on my rad/psi defender (TK blast).
  6. Blast: Electrical - Dual Pistols - Beam Rifle
Defender Primary: Trick Arrow - Sonic (I STILL hate the graphics on this set)
Corruptor Primary - Pain ... I never could get into this set
Melee: Kinetic Melee - NrG (sooooooo slow)
Control: Ice - uhmm yeah no thanks; for a control set it's pretty lacking in hard control.
HEATS - in general make me nauseous

Do all the earned ones disappear after July 30th?
I have 14 of them now... and by the end of July I will probably have approx 100-120.

I plan on keeping 5-6 for myself and trading/giving away the others.

Edit: maybe there will be another movie event.. like an Oscar event after the Winter event and before Spring

I don't mind the 20 hour cool down. If I game Friday nights and decide to get on Saturday I just do other stuff besides tfs/trials until I am sure my 20 hours has lapsed.

I wouldn't mind a personalized once per calendar day cooldown. Instead of some timezone I may or may forget about.. just make the "timer" once per calendar day per player.
  9. Started on Guardian - left there sometime in Issue 4-5 for Freedom and have been there ever since. I tried Virtue, Exalted, and Triumph - not my cup of tea.

All my friends are on Freedom, my SG is on Freedom, and I like most of the players I encounter there.

So nothing would get me to move to Virtue.
  10. You can I am sure... never really tried; prolly be a huge pain in the butt though hehehe

Even if I never actually bought that pack, I wouldn't care nearly as much about badge hunting, simply because I'd know, in the back of my mind, that I could just buy it with two simple clicks. The effort, to me, would lose meaning.

I don't care whether other people have "bought" or "earned" their builds. The fact that I have the option to buy it, actively detracts from my desire to build anything in the first place.

I think that's what EG was getting at, too.
Not to nitpick but... doesn't that mean you are letting what others can/might do affect you?

I could care less how much defense Hero X has...and hey if they have more through amplifiers and I am teaming with them...guess maybe my mission/team will do slightly better?

I don't need a defense boost; for example, 8 hours straight. If I find myself in a situation where I do need more... I gots insps

I think this whole argument over what other people are spending their money on is silly; especially when it doesn't affect my xp/inf gain/drops. Like I said before.... I see it as a non-issue when it comes to how I play.
  12. Still not sure how what someone else buys for their character affects me?

I haven't noticed a decrease in drops, inf, xp, etc since these supposed "pay to win" items have went live.....

Frankly unless someone were to tell me or I saw it in their buff icon...not sure how I am supposed to know/care they spent real money on these....

Since xp boosters, amplifiers, dual insps, etc.. have went live... my game has not changed one bit.

Then again I don't feel the need to get all worked up over what someone else is doing when it doesn't affect me

Fun. Its fun because it breaks from the normal mission content and has objectives that require you to think. The AV fights in the WH kinda throw me off because I don't get why they happen. All it says is that we were followed back to our hide out. Something should be done to spice these sections up.

Would love to see an iTrial version of this that has two teams split into groups with two players each on their own objectives.

    Time Gladiator:

Is a fun beat em up smack em down. The ninja and monkey sections are the only bland part. Would rather see them spawn at all 4 gates and run into the middle (I.E. Gladiator chariot fight.)

    IO set:

I don't like the pressadent that is being set by this IO prock that converts KB into KD it suggests that the Devs are unwilling to tackle the KB problem in a wider context, which is disappointing.

    My totals if anyone cairs

    End/Rec 1
    Dam/End/Rec 8
KB->KD 3 (all locked at L50 slot able at 47)
    Acc/Dam/End/Rec 1
    Acc/Dam/End 4
    Acc/Dam 1
The devs can't tackle a "kb problem" because there is no kb problem. The only kb problems I see are:
Players who have no clue how to use KB... easily remedied by teaching them.
Players who supposedly refuse to allow others who use KB... never ran into this but easily remedied by 1 starring and not teaming with them.

Neither of those things can be fixed by the devs....

    You can't fix stupid.

Im starting to think that way too.

I have played all of my toons twice now... and no one has dropped from the team on purpose (did have a DC.. that came back).

Might I suggest you use the star system for these people who obviously have no clue that any team can do this.

My last run was a blaster (arch/dev), pvp scrap (spines/regen), me (fire/time corr), and a PB..... maybe I just have better luck?

I got it while running the event on a lowbie, and mailed it to my 50 Crab Spider. Put the proc in Frenzy, which is a PBAoE. I've been running around DA diving into big spawns and using the power until they're cleared. So far, I haven't seen any NPc get knocked down.
Have it on my Rad/Psi Defender and TK Blast now knocks them down and not back

My SS/Electricty Brute got almost instantly killed against the Minotaur and archers. My Dark/Dark Defender started to get hit so hard that I was running from the lobby several times and when our friend DCed we ended up fighting three or four AVs from Casino and barely had enough damage/debuffing to defeat the AV after a long (and boring) grueling fight.

Yeah, sounds perfectly fun and peachy for 'casual' entertainment.
Uhmm I had no issues on my rad/psi defender; and we didn't even have a tank/brute on the team. And FYI there is NO place in this event where there is 3-4 AVs at once.

I found it to be perfectly fun and entertaining and quite casual.
  17. Ran it on all my toons. never died.
Not sure if I have amazing luck or the RNG loves me... got 5 Procs out of 6 runs.

I think of those 6 runs I did... we had a total of 2..maybe 3.. deaths.

My only complaint atm is that the enhancements are not able to be put on the market; but for now I will just stockpile them and wait. Keeping some of them around in case I make any future toons who could use the set/proc.

Overall I like the summer event; more so than the Halloween one actually.

We did have one instance where a teammate was not tpd out; they just died and hit hosp and boom they were there.

Also cannot seem to get the perfect grifter badge (think that's the one)... hoping it's a bug otherwise have no clue how to get it LOL!

You know KB can be used to push things TOWARDS melee toons right?
In the 7 years I have played I think I have ran into people who don't know how to use KB effectively 2-3 times. I have no clue where you people play that KB is such a horrendous issue, but am thankful I am not on your teams. I have found most players who take powers with KB actually know how to use them.

Uhmmm anyone who can use KB effectively...increases the speed of killing..because you know it is a lot easier to kill something when its not fighting back.

That said.. I have 2 toons I will be utilizing the KB=KD proc on.
  22. So you would quit a game over one person'd request LOL Oh ok!

Me.. I would put them on ignore if they asked me to do something I didn't think needed to be done.... then again I am not prone to temper tantrums.

Letting another person's actions control your own.... yeah not for me.
  23. Oh here we go again with the pay2win argument.. people truly have no clue what pay2win means if they think amplifiers are pay2win LOL!

Here's a hint.. there is nothing for sale that is pay2win, but many things which come closer to this idea than amplifiers lol.
  24. So we can trade them with other players? Haven't tried that.. I know I can email them to myself.

Hopefully they fix it so you can put them on the AH soon.
