  1. While it galls me to tell you to turn a security tool "off", in this case, I'd say "yes". About all you're really going to miss are the "Are you REALLY extra-mega-super-special sure you wanna do this?" nag screens that, after a time, you'd auto-click-yes to anyhow.

Been on Win7 Ultimate on 64-Bit my home box for around 2 years now. Haven't had any problems in the entire time.

I only reinstalled it a little over a year ago because I traded up from a hard drive to an SSD RAID array.

    Patch Tuesday.

Win7 usually acquires new patches on Tuesdays, or early Wednesday mornings. Betting one of the patches you absorbed freaked something in UAC out.

Try turning UAC all the way down/off. Reboot the machine and try to check again. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling to a location OTHER than C:\Program Files (or C:\Program Files (x86) on 64-bit machines), and go again.

  4. What OS are you running?
Did you install to the default location?
Also, do you have User Account Control turned on?

Betting you're running Vista or Win7 with UAC turned on and you installed to the default location.
  5. The problem with Win8 is the "desktop" paradigm they've adopted. They're so convinced that the mobile device "one app at a time" touch-style interface is The Next Great Thing, that they've completely castrated the system to best support this interface.

For people using desktop for productivity (or anything beyond basic media consumption), this is an absolute nightmare.

64-bit, if you have more than 3GB of RAM is a better idea. There may be some apps that freak a bit at 64-bit, but most of the major kinks have been worked out in the last 5 years or so.

Outside of a couple of conventions (like Program Files for 64-bit programs and Program Files (x86) for 32-bit), they're almost identical functionality-wise.
  6. Just answered you in the dupli-thread in the tanker forum.

I know you're looking for feedback, but it's best not to duplicate threads as is segregates your feedback into two separate, parallel discussions.

    TW/INVUL Build

You have exactly ZERO need for the -KB IOs you have slotted. You're already going to be rocking knockback prevention that almost nothing in the game can overcome. And a couple -KB IOs wouldn't make ANY difference for the stuff that could STILL knock you on your ***.

    Lots of wasted slots.

And for fast-charging AoEs, you do NOT *EVER* want to 6-slot Obliteration unless you have NO other choice. The amount of endurance reduction on the set is abysmal.

I think you'll be happier with this build.

Also, consider a different Alpha. Built this way, Invuln is already RIDICULOUSLY endurance-efficient.

  8. Honestly, a regular GTX 560 should be perfectly acceptable for gaming (it's no GTX 680, but hey, what is?).

I'd say economize and go Win7 64-bit with the 560. What you MIGHT want to do is look at EVGA's offerings and find one that's eligible for their "Step Up" program.

This way, if you aren't quite satisfied with the card in the next 90 days, you can upgrade it for the difference between the price you paid for your card and the cost of the new one.

And I agree. AVOID WIN8 LIKE THE PLAGUE THAT IS IS!
  9. I reported this a couple nights ago but the darned threads disappeared out of the fourms.

    Not sure why.
  10. Not bad. But the Obliterations, while giving you lots of +Acc and Melee defense, are horrific for regularly-used attack chain slotting.

You're grotesquely overslotted in Stamina and Physical Perfection.

The BOTZ set in Combat Jumping is a waste. You get better defense values by slotting defense IOs.

Here's a slightly different build (powers not really taken in any particular order).

Lower resting end consumption, higher endurance reduction in most of the powers that matter.

Better resists, comparable defenses, and greater recharge.

  11. Servers with larger populations will likely run more trials overall.

However, a followup question should be "which" trials are being run?

I've noted on Freedom, lots of BAF and Lambda and not a lot else.

First off, thanks for being out there on the pointy edge of things, try not to backstop any bullets. Unlike your toons, the lowest bidders for military contracts haven't got mediporters yet.

Second, unfortunately, updates are kinda that way. There's not a lot they can do without COMPLETLEY changing how their packaging system works.

Let us know how it turns out for ya.

Your resists are high enough that defense should NOT be an issue.
You should wade in, tank the alpha, pop your heal, then and then burn down the forest.

No, but you'll be taking an order of magnitude less damage from S/L/E/N, and you're still capped resist to Fire (with a respectable veneer of defense atop that).

Again, I'm not mad at you guys, just mad at the game for making things difficult.

Not everyone can be a Invuln tank. Your enhanced damage output SHOULD more than offset your need for greater defenses since everything short of EBs should be dead LONG before you're in danger.

Actually, KinCombats are fine for EndRedux. 4 slots = 41% for a set that caps at 35? Yeah, that's fine. Considering six-slotting something with Obliteration gives you a whopping 15%?

But yeah, the Accuracy alone sucks. You can toss a regular Acc/Dam from another set or a Nucleolus and kick the Accuracy and damage up into "Acceptable" ranges.
  20. My first comic book? Damn. Later-70's. Disney book. Donald Duck I think.

First superhero book? High school. 1987. An X-Men book at a local drugstore. No comics shops came into my area for another 2 years.

Wow. That was a hell of a brain-fart on my part.

Sorry! Sorry! My bad! Take short, shallow breaths! Someone open a window!

If you actually paid attention to the article, you'd see that they mention a Cryptic game that did not publish the odds of earning items in their grab bags, which is against the law in some countries.
No reason to be a richard about this man. A small brain-fart and typing "Cryptic" instead of "Paragon".

I DID read the article and DID read the part about Cryptic. Which is probably WHY I typed "Cryptic" in the first place.

The short of it is, as long as Paragon continues to post the possible contents of each Super Pack, the odds of receiving each, and offers an alternative way to earn any items that directly enhance powers or gameplay, they're probably not going to run into any trouble whether the "online baseball card pack" is officially labelled as gambling or not.
Which is more or less what I was saying originally. They (Paragon) posted the odds for what could be gotten in the Super Packs. So people knew their chances and it wasn't a straight black-box system like some of these other MMOs have implemented.

Posted about it last night. Went from low-to-mid 40's average framerate with a high 20's minimum to a low-to-mid 50's average framerate with a low in the mid 30's.

The post announcing the drivers disappeared. Not sure why.

I've been playing this game with a GTX 580 for almost a year now and I've had it cranked up to maximum ultra settings and have had absolutely no problem with it. I can't even really remember the last time I saw any significant lag or rubberbanding even during big raids.

So yeah if a 580 can do that any newer series 600 card should be completely great for this game.
If you're using 4xFSAA, grab the new 301 WHQL drivers. They now have FXAA support (shader-based anti-aliasing). It's equivalent to 4x FSAA, works nice, virtually indistinguishable from 4x FSAA, and gives a NICE boost to your framerate.

I honestly never really bumped FSAA beyond 4x because the difference wasn't really noticeable at 1920x1080 and the performance falloff for something unnoticeable isn't worth it.
