  1. Paragon Rewards

How to get to the Paragon Rewards Screen
    1. Log into the game.
    2. Pick a server
    3. At the top of the screen you'll see a bunch of "medallions" for various things (number of characters unlocked, etc). The second from the left are your Paragon Reward tokens. Looks just like this:
    4. Click on the medallion and you'll be taken to the Paragon Rewards screen.
Now, I believe, if you had below 15-18 or something like that, from before the start of CoH Freedom, they would auto-allocate for you the first time.

Points over and above that, or acquired after the advent of CoH Freedom, would need to be placed manually, by the player.

You can take them in any order on a given tier. But you can't take rewards from a tier until the one below it is completely full.

The big trick is to wipe the Sorrows spawns out first. They're the biggest source of defense debuff. One is bad enough, two or three are enough to just wipe out your defense completely.

Actually the advice isn't even applicable now, since the ATIO procs are PPM.
  6. It's every even level to level 32. Then every 3 levels after that.

If you're on a Windows system, there's a build planner called Mids.

Just head over to http://www.cohplanner.com and download it.

It'll allow you to see what levels you get the various powers and enhancement slots at as you're building a hero/villain.

Also, if you want to import your LIVE build from City of Heroes, you can do so with a little tool called Titan Sentinel.
  7. Yeah. Apparently last week's patch for Steam busted something BUT GOOD with CoH.
I don't use Steam, but I'd still report it to them so they know their software is breaking things.
  8. Also remember to contact Fulmens.
He does prestige matching up to half a billion Inf.
  9. Agreed. If you didn't min-out your settings in-game before installing the new card, this could be the result.

And as noted, if you've got the Steam overlay going, kill it.

So what's changed? Has inflation totally destroyed my buying power and rendered me a pauper? Is 3 billion chump change now ?
3 billion can still be "a lot".

Yes, there are some players who can buy and sell you scores of times over. So what? Just play the game, use the market and the Inf comes.

    No huge deal.

Quite simply, no. Higher res and HP caps simply don't address the problem of unresistable damage and controls.

I understand what you're saying about one-shot kills, but most of those are avoidable. You may not like the mechanic for avoiding them, but I don't think you're going to see a change in that mechanic.
So the solution for ranged attackers is to simply change position and keep attacking.

The solution for melee attackers is to back off and COMPLETELY STOP CONTRIBUTING DAMAGE?

There's got to be some sort of middle ground in here.
  12. I agree with the others. You're better off just moving to a new board, memory and processor. You'll pay through the nose and out the *** for a legacy processor, and usually from some no-name refurb house that's pulled it from another system that had Bob-knows-what wrong with it...

But hey! You wanted to upgrade right? Right?
  13. Waste of effort. There's no way in the game for toons that don't *already* have high Psi defense to actually get any.

You're better off seeing if you can bump Ranged/AoE defenses (since most Psi attacks have ranged/AoE flags) if you already have a decent amount.

Not really. There was nothing inherently "about blasters" in the changes.

    The ranged attack changes benefit:
    • Blasters
    • Corrupters
    • Defenders
    • Dominators
    The melee attack/control changes benefit:
    • Blasters
    • Dominators
    • Masterminds

If Tankers get any attention and it makes a marked improvement in their function and playability, then I don't really care if other ATs are able to use some of those changes as well. I'm not so selfish.
The big issue is that Incarnate content has basically removed the triumvirate of things that made tanks stand out amongst other ATs.
    • Mez Protection: We now have completely unresistable mez.
    • Damage resistance/defense: We now have completely unresistable autohit attacks
    • High HP caps: Completely irrelevant in the face of monster attacks designed to "get around" one shot-code and "instakill" mechanics.
Other ATs have to deal with this too. Brutes and Scrappers have this to a lesser degree.

And yes, some of these affect other ATs besides. However, with the way Incarnate powers are constructed at the moment, they're arguably MORE durable now than they were previously, and aren't REALLY forced to change their play style (especially ranged ATs) the way melee toons are. They have the means to continue attacking from range in a continuous manner. Melee toons don't.

Melee toons, while marginally tougher against normal content, gain almost zero benefit (outside of added damage) from current Incarnate powers.

Going Melee Hybrid or Barrier Destiny on a tank doesn't toughen you up against unresistable crap patches or instakill.

Going Assault on a tank nets you very little damage increase (especially on Inv/SS which can nearly self-cap).

Going Clarion Destiny doesn't do a damn thing against unresistable mez in Sequestration. And since Tanks are, by definition, aggro magnets, it's several times more likely that any given Tank is going to get sequestered than it is for a ranged toon unless their damage output is absolutely outstanding in the group.

Basically, tanks in Incarnate trials are essentially reduced to third-rate scrappers with aggro management.
  15. So Father. What was it like back then.

    Before...y'know...dirt?

  16. I believe the answer is "no".

Because Burn does a bunch of damage up front, then summons a damage pseudopet to continue the damage ticks.
  17. It'd wind up a bit lower damage output overall and your recharge wouldn't be quite so spiffy. But that could work too.

  19. Given a little time on the market, you'd be surprised.

1 billion inf is REALLY not hard to come by with a little effort.
And by little, I mean "turning a computer on is HARD" levels of effort.

Most of the build is more or less identical to what you already had.
You'll save a little by going with the Crushing Impacts instead of all the Makos and ToDs.

The two "biggie" expenses are the PVP IOs. This can be one of those times enhancement converters and/or Alignment Merits can be your friend. If you have a large backlog of Reward Merits, you can convert them into AMs to speed up your progress. You could also try to acquire a PVP IO (of any sort) on the cheap. Then use converters to change it into the desired type.
  20. Okay, not a huge fan of Rosewill or of "OOH! SPARKLIEZ!" But the PSU should be perfectly acceptable for a GTX 670.

    UP AND AT 'EM!"
  21. First things first:

    1. What is your power supply?
    2. What is your budget for this upgrade?
Edit: Okay, read a bit further. Still need #1. But if the answer to that is within certain boundaries, yeah, with $400, go for a GTX670.

Total, complete, utter, massive, UNDENIABLE OVERKILL for CoH!

This isn't "Use a cannon to kill a mosquito". This is "Kill a mosquito by dropping the planet it's on into a black hole".

But you know what? There's no "kill" like "Overkill".

  22. Here's an alternate take if you're REALLY worried about endurance (which, at roughly 3x your resting endurance, with Cardiac, you shouldn't be).

Higher general enhanced accuracy among your attacks. (62.9 vs 55.4)
Huge +Acc from set bonuses (+28%). So very little wasted end from misses, even against +Level opponents. And if that's a problem, pop Focus Chi first.
Focus Chi now grants 71.5% +ToHit (vs 25%).
    Higher enhanced recharge on AoEs.
    Higher global recharge.
    All defenses 46.x%
    Higher resists.
    Marignally higher recovery.
    Higher Max Endurance.
    Marginally higher regen.
    More HP.
    Some slow resist.

Fire Blast suffers a bit. Boxing and Char are gutted. But they were only set bonus mules anyhow.

Granted, the build is recockulously expensive compared to yours. But this build has a far, FAR better survivability and a better overall performance profile.

Note: The powers were just slapped in there in a random order. Some build planning is important.

And if you're doing iTrials YES, the fact that you took Grant Cover and Active Defense so late IS something you need to rectify. Quills of Jocas on the Magi can whack you down to level 50-3 (not Fifty PLUS three, Fifty MINUS three). At which point Grant Cover turns off, reducing your benefit to the league. Just be glad you didn't put AD for your level 49 power choice.

"Wow! It shut off! I'm mezzed! Howsabout dat?"

Honestly, I' drop something like Super Jump into your L49 power choice. Then drop Hasten in at L47. This way, if either or get shut off by a QOJ hit in a trial like Magi, it won't really affect you much

    WinVista/7?

    UAC turned on?

Installed to default location? (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mids?)

Try uninstalling Mids, and clearing the directory (move any builds you have in there).

Then reinstall clean to a place not affected by UAC and system permissions.
