Quote:I'll just say that this is somewhat at-odds with the impression she made at Origins. She's a glorified booth babe and doesn't even game. Hates it infact, even admitted to it at the various conventions she has been invited to. Her goal is to piggy back off the ''temporary geek fame'' on her way to a blockbuster movie like Spider-Man or something of the like and then move on to ''more professional/important roles'' akin to infamous Movie Women.

Quote:It's really frickin' hard to attack someone who's killing you the second you spawn in, before your controls start responding. Inviting MORE people to try and spawn in achieves nothing.there are alternatives to fixing campers, if the devs. did make this perimiter idea happen so there is no more tp droning, that does not mean that campers will be forever stuck on 1 side forever, you can grab more members from your sg, friends, etc. to help you combat any campers that may be in your base, and the opposing team will get bored just standing there and either leave on their own or switch sides. so there is your solution to fixing campers.
The drones were put in there SPECIFICALLY because that sort of situation is untenable and less than ZERO fun.
Quote:i said this before, this isnt just my own feelings, this is for everyone who hates tp droning, i was just the one who made a thread about it.

So nobody should PVP unless they're willing to invest all their time and every last spare Inf to it and play YOUR way?

So yeah, not surprised that a desktop system of a lower "apparent" spec is kicking it.
Updating the drivers, if possible, MIGHT help. The problem is, there IS no newer driver.
The latest offered from nVidia is 179.48.
You're on 195.81 (which is probably the default nVidia driver that Microsoft shipped with Win7).
At this point, you're kinda stuck boss. -

Man, my handlers never page me when I'm appearing as a guest at cons. Do yours when you do? If they did I'd probably just leave the phone in my Lamborghini.

The various personalities invited to cons have handlers to escort them around, provide security, keep them on schedule, and get them out of various awkward situations.
And I'm now sure, from the Lambo comment, that this is nothing more than the green monster.
She was a geek and a gamer and made something out of her life in the entertainment industry and gained wider recognition.
You... didn't.
Not attractive at all man.
But envy seldom is. -
Met her. Watched her making the rounds around the vendor area at Origins this year. She isn't.

Unlike her D&D session:
- She didn't tweet the entire time, during her D&D session, she didn't put her phone down
- She was actively ignoring pages from her handlers and fully engaged in the game
- When they came to try and extract her, she was waving them off trying to get them to leave her alone
- She was playing until after midnight, when she had an early morning flight to go read for a part that next day
- Most of the "personalities" at conventions don't go out of their way to attend gaming demos of any sort (16+ years of experience talking)

Wait. You're running Steam?
Why didn't I see that in there?
If so, turn it OFF and launch the game normally through the NCSoft Launcher.
Currently Steam's overlay is known for causing issues with the current builds of CoH. -
Yeah. It's probably a good thing I don't play it either.
I'd spend WAY too much time cackling madly and "believing"... -
Kill the AlienFX control programs.
There have been known issues with it and CoH in the past. -
Okay bos. You really aren't gonna want to hear this. But it looks like you've got a damaged Windows install (note all the "file missing" entries).
Also, it looks like you have the remains of a rootkit in your system.
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe
That's probably why your OS is coming up as unsupported.
You may be due for a reformat of your machine... -
Can you get us the HijackThis results as well please?
-
Actually no. Invuln has about 50% DDR.
Look at your advanced totals in Mids.
Also, you're forgetting the stacking that happens with Invincibility.
At around 6 enemies, with the build I posted, you're looking at 52% S/L, 53% E/N and 47% F/C.
While you don't hit Incarnate soft cap when maxed.
So no. You can't just waddle in running +4x8 with bosses and just stand there building Fury forever like you would in normal content.
You HAVE TO be careful and go after defense debuffers first and foremost.
Because starting at Incarnate softcap or not, you're STILL going to get debuffed into oblivion in a couple missions if you're not careful. The Sorrows defense debuffs are THAT fierce (and at x8 you're going to see 2 bosses and 2 LTs plus the masks they spawn.) -
Quote:Au contraire mon frer. You cant really "Screw Psy hole", Invincibility and Tough Hide havent any positional defense. If you start building for ranged/AoE on an Invul toon you pretty much negate you best defense powers. Now I may not "build properly", I probably wouldnt ask for help if I was.
Your Ranged/AoE defenses are a side-effect of you building for E/N/F/C defense.
I'm not saying you have to CAP them. But pushing them into the low to mid 20's is enough to drastically cut down on the amount of damage coming your way.
Just looked at the build you posted.
It's SEVERELY compromised for non-S/L damage. The big damage types coming out of Incarnate content are S/L/E/N with some F/C coming in the solo/small-team content.
So anything tossing S/L will only hit you on lucky shots. But everything else is going to tear through you like wet tissue paper. And that's BEFORE the nasty debuffs.
Your defenses/resists are grotesquely overslotted and you're consuming 75% of your endurance production *at rest*. Meaning you run out of endurance after a couple attacks.
As such, you're pretty much going to HAVE to slot Cardiac for your Alpha. -

Brute, Tank, or Scrapper?
Also, regardless of which, here's my standard advice.
*GIANT FREAKING FLASHING TEXT* SCREW THE PSI HOLE! *GIANT FREAKING FLASHING TEXT*
If you build properly, your Ranged and AoE defenses (which are a byproduct of building for E/N and F/C) will cover you FAR better than the piddling amount of Psi defense/resist you can actually build up.

Quote:If there's no damage in the power, you can't place the proc.Wormhole, Hurricane, Repel, Lightning Clap, Hand Clap, Whirlwind, and others I'm probably forgetting.
OTOH
Did take one of these and drop it into Bonfire on my Fire/Fire/Pyre. It's not really slotted out, it was just holding a recharge IO. So I dropped it in and voilĂ ! 30 seconds of KD.
Now I actually have a reason to put the power in my power tray.
! -
Quote:Yep.Have anyone soloed this mission? I tried, with my inv/energy tank but those groups of Talons do a lot of damage. I took out a group of monsters... I used Nemesis Staff, Blackwand, and Laser Eye.
Just wondering if anyone done it... if so what AT and powers....
I clicked the completed button hoping for a badge, I should have knew that would not work.... oh well :P
Inv/SS/EM Tank
Fire/Fire/Pyre Blaster (Yes, it took longer...)
Going in with a team of players and no NPCs counts for the badge too. Got it that way with my Fire/Rad/Stone Troller during my Monday night fire/rad group. And DAMN but did we cook them up! -

Quote:most of the droners ive seen in pvp zones never leave their base and refuse to 1v1, yet they will drone anyone they can see regardless if that person is with a team or just alone, and once that droner teleports you to the drone, that person will laugh and brag about it on broadcast. as for why people get upset, the answer should be obvious, because its a cheap and low way to kill off someone, they refuse to use actual pvp fighting and just use the cowards way out.
Let's see. A heavily tweaked FOTM build with a couple billion invested vs an SO'ed to the gills MM.
In zone PVP.
And you expect them to...what? Go toe to toe?
They can contribute more to their side by ensuring the base area is clear for departure. -
Quote:Again, unless you have a good idea on how to fix the problem of base campers, I seriously doubt that the devs are going to remove a legitimate means of discouraging this tactic.yes base campers can be annoying at times but not as annoying as droners, campers is a mild problem that is in pretty much every online game out there, tp droning isnt.
Does this mean that the practice may have a use that is less legitimate? Maybe. But, if you're close enough to a base to be droned, you deserve to be droned. Flat out.
Or are you going to try to ban dihydrogen monoxide instead of strychnine because more people die of causes involving dihydrogen monoxide than they do of strychnine poisoning?
You're bringing a qualitative "I feel, I dislike, etc" argument. But you're not making a quantitative one.
I have no problem with you expressing your opinion, but unless you have a solution that fixes the issue droning already ameliorates, you're basically ranting. -
-
PoisonHeart,
As soon as you can come up with a way to fix the issue of talentless gankers camping bases, THEN maybe we can talk about droning.
You're attempting to treat a symptom, not the disease.
This seldom, if ever, works. And worse, can exacerbate the problem. -
Quote:Oh get over yourself Sam. I'm disagreeing with you and poking holes in your arguments, not your opinions. This is NOT browbeating. Here we go. Another one who just can't resist browbeating me for having an opinion. OK, let's roll.
Quote:You know as well as I do that "pay to win" is not a term that's interpreted any more literally than "free to play" or "VIP." You also know full well what it means - paying for power. Minor semantic arguments make no difference.
Gotcha!
Quote:But a great deal of content that's normally a pain in the *** to run sure goes a heck of a lot smoother if you have status protection. The stricter your definition of "required" becomes, the less relevant the argument you're truing to prove with it is because you're simply painting it into a corner. Again, you know what I mean.
Treating in such a manner is patently lazy and dishonest.
And, again, stop attempting to mangle terminology in an attempt to invoke a reaction from people. That's what your whole "Well you know what I *REALLY* mean" angle is all about.
Quote:Which would be a reasonable assertion had I not said, in that same post, that I don't want my VIP subscription to be just about, or even at all about, getting free stuff. The last thing I want to see is the VIP player status become a "budget" option for people to get if they don't want to pay more. The VIP subscription should be the expensive option that's nevertheless the "best" option, but that's not how Marketing is treating it. I'm not interested in free stuff, I'm interested in not being part of the demographic that every little time sink is marketed to. I would like, for instance, to have the ability to pay - more if necessary - and get what's in the random result tables from Super Packs. It's clear those are aimed at sucking more money out of people by promising small costs but not giving you what you want every time.
Or did I not say that in this particular post? If I didn't, I apologise. I put it in at least one of the ones I made, but they're scattered all over the boards. In case it's not in this thread, that's what I mean.
Quote:What? I mean... What? I read words, they follow proper sentence structure, I know this is English, yet every time I read this question, I draw a blank. What are you asking? What, specifically, when I explained, and numerous times, that I'm likely going to buy a few of those to use to muscle through tough missions. Seriously, what?
Do you, somehow, feel that the ability for someone to get these buffs somehow devalues your choice to run without them? Or the fact that you HAVE run without them for 7-8 years?
Again, I'm trying to get to the root cause of your dislike for these.
Quote:Which I can buy, so that's a budget option.
So, Incarnates? Because everything else can be purchased, it just costs more. Again, I'm not interested in a budget option.
Which I can buy either way. Again, I'm not interested in a budget option.
Which I can buy either way. And I have. Repeatedly. If I see something I want and I lack the points, PayPal is within arm's reach. Again, I'm not interested in a budget option.
Oh, happy day. And again - I can buy those if I want them. That's not VIP exclusive. It's a budget option.
Which, again, I can buy with real money if I bonked my head and actually thought that was a good idea. Again - a budget option.
Which I'm pretty sure I could buy, if not directly then by purchasing enough points. Again, it's free stuff.
Aside from Incarnates and possibly the Architect, what is there in the VIP subscription that isn't just a discount, a budget option or a freebie? I can pretty much guarantee that if I dropped down to premium, the only thing that would change is it would cost me a couple hundred dollars in one drop to get back to where I was before. In other words, I would lose money but not perks. That doesn't make me feel important, it makes me feel like I'm being offered a discount, which I don't really need at this point in my life.
Quote:I would actually prefer these if they WERE permanent and expensive, to be honest. Yes, it would be selling power, but if we're going that route, then I'd much rather we SOLD power over RENTING it out.
Quote:Now, if you were actually interested in an honest discussion of opinion and preference, I'm open to it. But if you're just going to toss off-hand insults to my intelligence and try and fail to browbeat me, then we can just keep up this circus, derail the thread and get it locked. I've gotten pretty good at that over the years.
