The thing is, sometimes simple combat positioning is made easier by merely running over to the spot than wasting the entirety of a teleport cycle.

Additionally, at some camera angles, due to the way the game's teleport code works, TP can simply not work (you get a red ground effect instead of a the white one). Then you're wasting more time

2 Is it underslotted? It could be. Can a player with a modicum of skill make do with a one slotted taunt? Sure they can.
I'm talking in terms of general effectiveness. If you have teammates who're capable out high damage you're going to experience a LOT of difficulty controlling aggro.

    Quote:
3 I have no idea what you are talking about here. 3 slot imp armor is necessary for the psi defense.
If you select Agility for the Alpha Incarnate slot (instead of spiritual), you're able to maintain soft-cap defense while pulling out that generic IO you have slotted in Granite. You can take that slot and put it into Health. Then slot in a Numina Heal IO. This will:
    • Bump up your HP thereby
    • Upping the effectiveness of your existing regen
    • Bump up your regen even more due to the set bonus for 2-slotted Numina.

4 Most attacks have 1 SO's worth of end redux.
Yes, but you're going for a high-recharge build here. It doesn't make a lot of sense to chuck in all that recharge and then not be able to use the attacks because your endurance can't keep up. That's like driving a Formula 1 car around in a city with a top speed limit of 25MPH.

Probably not sustainable long term but DPS doesn't mean AV/GM soloing.
Never said it did. Yeah. If you want to just sit there and MudPots them to death, great.

    Quote:
For mid level exemping being softcapped to all but toxic and having capped resists is overkill, you can turn off a few toggles to conserve end.
You do have a point. Even if you min out all your powers (slot minimum level IOs), you still are capped down to level 27 at least.

I will concede that I had to drop soul mastery. Ranged attacks are absolutely necessary to get significant psi def boost from sets.

Anyway, put up your own build if you can do better.
I didn't say I could "do better". I'm simply outlining the problems in your build, and not necessarily just for YOUR edification.
  2. Hyperstrike

    Is this ok?

As a sapper? This build would probably rock.

    As a farmer? Uh. No.
All your ST damage is unenhanced. COMPLETELY.
While your AoEs are respectable, killing enemies is going to be deadly slow.

Slow because you're chipping away with unenhanced ST and AoE "ticks".
Deadly, because your overall defenses (specifically S/L) aren't high enough to keep you alive by flooring the enemy's chances to hit.

And you took an EndMod set that caps at level 20...and put it in...Stamina?

    ... I

    ... you

    Uhm. Just...

    You get the picture.

Something like this will be more durable in the long run and more effective at "killing stuff".

If you really want to make him more durable you can find a cheap PVP recipe/IO. Use enhancement converters to turn it into a Gladiator's Armor TP Protection/3% defense IO. Stick it in Strength of will.
  3. Here's a build I'm playing currently.

It should be fairly easy to compare against your current setup.

    1. As noted, you're going to be slower than frozen dog snot (movement-wise)
    2. With single-slotted Taunt, your ability to control aggro is going to be severely compromised.
    3. You could have achieved the same thing, and saved a slot out of Granite to put in Health, thereby raising your Max HP, and boosting your regen by abusing Agility instead of Spiritual.
    4. None of your attacks are particularly well-slotted for EndRedux. This means you're going to have to be more circumspect about abusing the high recharge you have and falling back on "I'm standing here killing you slowly with Mudpots."

I am sure most of you do not care but I had to say my piece.
    Insanely rich?

Do you mean REAL money? Or in-game inf?

If the latter, hey, the fact that I'm in the upper tenth (or maybe even hundreth) of a percent of Inf-rich guys in the game helps. But full enjoyment of the game is a completely subjective call.

If the former? If you're talking about the premium/VIP dichotomy, maybe a little. If you're talking about the Free Players/VIP dichotomy? Yeah. I'll agree.

So the FNORD what? Paying $10-15 a month for a sub doesn't make one "rich". And some of these guys have been doing it for YEARS. Through periods of unemployment, etc. Sorry, but for the cash they've contributed (and are still contributing) to the game, they deserve a different play experience than the free player.

If you're griping about the cash shop.
Sure, some of the stuff in there makes life NICER. But IN NO WAY detracts from the enjoyment of the game if you decide not to buy the stuff. Most of the REALLY useful stuff has an analog you can earn/buy in-game for Inf/Merits/etc. What's more, some of the STUPIDLY useful stuff is TEAM ORIENTED! So you're gaining some tangental benefit from a teammate who bought it even if you didn't.

Would it be nice if every player had tons of real-world money and could dump hundreds or thousands of dollars into the game on a weekly/monthly basis?

    Yeah!

But we're living in a nasty little place I like to call "reality". The job market sucks (think 50-megawatt Hoover Vacuum), the economy isn't even in the toilet, it got flushed into the sewers long ago, and the difference between "haves" and "have nots" is slowly becoming the difference between the "haves" and "never will haves".

Mainly because most of all these mutually antagonistic governments on the planet are concerned with one thing. Keeping themselves employed so they can bilk their citizens of even MORE while keeping them in fear that if they aren't good little kiddies, Uncle is going to come down on them like a bag of high-explosive sledgehammers.

And best of all, there's no clear-cut way to actually fix the problem.

    Ain't life grand?

    In short.

There's bigger problems going on than the fact that Little Johnny can't spend thousands of Paragon Points a day. Ergo, some perspective is required here.

There should be MORE than enough baloney from that first post alone!
  8. Hmm. It's a somewhat heavily optimized build already.
But what do you think about this?

    Higher base HP.
    Higher max HP.
    Therefore, higher regeneration.

Resting End use is slightly lower.
As is recovery. But Dark Consumption will recovery the same amount, be more accurate AND go off more often.

You now have a larger buffer for S/L defense against defense debuffs.
Your F/C defense is closer to cap.
    Your E/N is identical.
Psi is higher. But Ranged and AoE fractionally higher too. And they'll provide more defense against most of the Psi you'll encounter.

    S/L resist is higher.
Fire is lower (due to not going out of my way for a pair of Fire resist set bonuses)
    Cold is fractionally better.
    E/N is fractionally better.
    Toxic is slightly lower.

Your original build has slightly more ToHit from Soul Drain. But with 30% +Acc global and most of the attacks slotted for decent Accuracy enhancement, you'll be hitting things pretty much regardless.

Plus, Soul Drain will be more accurate, do roughly 50% more damage, be up more often and eat less endurance when triggered.

If you're going to do anything else with the build, toss an Agility Alpha onto it.
That'll buff your EndMod , Defense and Recharge.

  9. Try turning off Ambient Occlusion.
Also, start up the Launcher (not the game) and do a Repair (Consistency Check).

The way it is, I understand why it went under, even though I tried to help it survive.
It still doesn't fix the issue of posts in this forum getting ignored and eventually buried, unanswered.

To be honest, for a while before the summer event I had the game settings to advanced ultra mode and had some things turned up a bit and it ran perfectly fine. Shortly after the event started I was getting some graphics lag, especially in Atlas Park 1 with all the players there, so I turned off advanced ultra and just used the slider for ultra mode.

You pointed out some things but didn't offer any suggestions or clarify much, and what you highlighted is a bit confusing and vague. I'm not that computer literate.

And....apparently I'm not the only one having problems with crashes lately.

Edit: My graphics card is a 512MB.

Edit 2: Forgot to mention, my graphics card is using the default nVida settings. Last month I clicked help in the nVidia control panel to have it check for updates and received an error. So I went to the nVidia website and found there were updated drivers. I uninstalled the control panel and drivers and did a clean install resetting the settings to default with the new updated software/drivers in June. I also just did a check and no new drivers yet.

Sorry. I sometimes get so carried away with my snarkiness I don't always remember to give full advice. Beat my face in about that later.

Thing is, your settings are up too high for that card.

If you want to keep it at 16x9, I'd recommend turning Ambient Occlusion OFF. COMPLETELY.

See what that does for you first. If that doesn't help, try reducing FSAA and Anisotropic Filtering down to 2x. THAT should give your card some breathing room when graphical *blips* in the game whack your framerates down. If it doesn't completely smooth over performance issues, it should at least reduce something that, previously, would have been crash-worthy to something that just lags you for a second.
  12. Just installed this and tried it out.

Holy frak man! If the window could be resized by pulling it open (running high res, so lots of space for narrow width, tall windows) so I could read more at a glance, this'd be PERFECT.

As it is, it's so close to it that I'm just going to engage my six-slotted STFU power and go silent.

    Good job with this!

I think you're simply overloading the graphics card at your current settings.

Probably not the SOLE reason though.

The summer event can be flaky at times. Even I've been dumped from time to time.

The fact that you're running your card out on the ragged edge of it's performance envelope probably isn't helping though when you come across flaky areas where stronger cards might not hitch and die.

Do you actually play this build?
If so how fast are you eating through your endurance?
How dependent on Consume are you?

You only have two attacks slotted with any kind of significant endurance reduction. One is your T1 Melee, the other is being used as a set mule and not slotted for damage. Neither of which are your damage aura.
  17. The basic idea of the Build Forum wasn't bad. Maybe in a new game community without the set behaviors of CoH, it might have worked better. But CoH's community has had 7 years of organic growth and several years of time in which it ALREADY had worked out an appropriate posting protocol for mids builds ITSELF. You want help/advice about a build for a given AT? Go to the forum for that AT and post!

Now, if you post for "Help me with my SoA" in the build forum, it gets buried under 10 "Help me with my tank" 8 "help me with my defender" 13 "help me with my troller" 3-4 Warshade discussions and a host of "What about THIS for a farmer?" posts. As such responses are down and response times go way up.

All because a few people griping to Zwillinger were to stupid and lazy to actually ask about an AT build in that AT's particular forum or inquire about current practices for said activity.

Is the build form a failure? Yeah. A truly, utterly and miserably one. And an utter mess to boot.
  18. Whether it was the just Queen who was boinking Pendragon or if she was being "ridden" by Serene (BOW CHICKA BOW WOW!) at the time isn't clearly stated.

If the first, there's essentially no chronological gap between the First Ward and Night Ward arcs.

If the second, there's probably a fairly significant time lapse between the two (at least if it's going to make any sense).
  19. Concentrate on S/L, melee will automatically follow (not that you're THAT concerned with it.
Try to work some E/N in too. This way you won't suffer as much from Ranged attacks (as Ranged follows E/N most of the time). Again, take a look-see at the build I posted.

While the defense numbers are *slightly* inferior for S/L, E/N is better, recovery is better and (because I'm now on a different computer and working from memory) I believe your resists and regen are better. Also remember that while they're technically inferior, you're not in Hover. It you turn Hover on

The recharge on my build is also slightly inferior. But not horrendously so. And since you're rocking Agility, most of your attacks are sporting big numbers which translate into small recharge times anyhoo.

If you want to beef up your F/C defenses a bit from my build, you could do something like this:
