Quote:You had Brawl 4-slotted.Fixed everything else (just picked up the Winter's Gift SlowRes last night on the cheap, go level 11!), but this isn't making sense to me. Where are you getting these slots from?
1: Can't move this (Default Slot)
2: Use this in one of your resists for the Gladiator's Armor TP/Def unique (Hence my price comparison).
Leaving you with 2 slots of which I recommend:
3: Combat Jumping (LOTG Def/End)
4: Hasten: Another Recharge IO or go with a Membrane Exposure HO. -
Quote:Incorrect.So...I think I came up with an even better one, one where I don't even need the Brute ATO set!
Also, the 5 slots in Hurl are for the Overwhelming Force set: same DEF bonus as Thunderstrike, with one less slot!
5-slotted OF gives you the same def bonus as 3-slotted Thunderstrike (2.5%).
At 6 slots, you get an additional 1.25% E/N.
- Punch and Haymaker, even with doubled Rage, are going to miss significantly more often.
- KOB is going to have a similar problem, just less-so.
- The psi proc in Zinger turns Taunt into a sometimes-weapon, but you're already over on your S/L, and Mocking Beratement provides a better recharge bonus and some F/C defense.
- Rage is ENTIRELY dependent on non-perma Hasten. This will lead to gaps in both damage and defense (remember having Rage goes down whacks your defenses too if you're not doubled).
- The fly IO in Fly is a waste. You're already capped by default.
- The extra 4% recovery from Gift of the Ancients isn't really helping you much. Whacking that takes you down exactly .07 End/Sec. Three-slotting LOTG bumps your regen, then bumps your HP (which gets more out of your regen then).
- Superior Conditioning: Why not just go for a Perf Shifter End Mod? It'll give you a 5% movement bonus.
- Stamina: Same. You'll get a bigger HP boost out of three-slotting Perf Shifter than you would out of the 2 slotted Efficacy Adaptor.
- Current price of 4-slotted Kinetic Combat. 220-250 million inf. Current price of PVP defense Unique: 300 million inf. Translation: Save yourself two slots. Stick one in CJ and toss a Def/End in there. Throw the other in Rage. This way it's perma even with Hasten down. You could even do something cool, like tossing Membrane Exposures in there and still be perma-Rage AND boost your ToHit by about 36%.
-
Question. You haven't slotted any of the new Universal Damage IOs in all of these builds have you?
-
Quote:Same problem as Cat here but I have also got into the habit of restarting CoH every 2 TFs.
I'm running XP with 4 gbs memory. Normally the crash report shows lack of memory.
In regular Windows XP, processes are limited to 2GB apiece.
HOWEVER, in many cases, the app (and the OS) start getting squirrelly above 1.5 or so. -
So, if we're poets, my spare bases must be the equivalent of the "Man from Nantucket" limericks right?

Okay, you're trying to actually read the builds put out there.
Warning, they're preformated by a build planner program. They're marginally readable, But the best way to delve into the build is to get yourself a copy of the build planner itself.
Mids' Hero Designer
This way you can import the build wholesale and get a nice graphical representation of the build.
Also, if you want a tool to copy your LIVE build from the game into Mids', you'll want Titan Sentinel.
A decent tutorial on how to use Mids' (and a video tutorial by yours truly) can be found here. -
Hmm. Wondering if the 301 drivers are bugged...
Or a buggy reaction between 301 and something new in the game...
That kinda seems to be the unifying variable in all of this. -
Quote:Stupid question. Are you respec'ing while needing to level up?Happened again. I went to respec another character and I click the 'Yes' button on the warning to do a final conformation and finish the respec and it crashed AGAIN.
At this point I highly doubt it is my graphics card. And I don't think it's the drivers because I installed the latest version June 11, and I didn't start having problems until the most recent game patch on June 29. -
Those helmets are there to protect those big chunks of bone you're using for a head grunt! Granted, that much solid bone should be pretty damage resistant but still! Arachnos wants to make sure that soldiers avoid doing "Headless Horseman" imitations whenever possible.
NOW SHUT UP AND SOLDIER!

Why ask questions to which you already know the answers?
Quote:Note: info you requested will be in next post. The forums keep giving me an error about "too many characters, try removing some or shortening your post". -
Quote:Note. Five random crashes in a 9 day period, while annoying as hell is NOT excessive. As per Hyperstrike's suggestions, I turned off ambient occlusion, FSAA and Anisotropic Filtering down to 2x. Then I defragged my hard drive and ran disk cleanup.
The stupid game just crashed on me AGAIN. This is the 5th time since the June 29 patch.
If you were crashing *every* time you booted up, or regularly when you did specific things (like the mapserv in the Tyrant personal mission).
There could be a stray memory leak being caused by some screwy conjuction of issues between your hardware, the game, and the OS. Reinstalling, likely, wouldn't fix this.
It COULD be a driver timeout. But the latest version of the nVidia driver actually notifies you of this and takes you to the MS KB article on the issue.
And please don't forget you're running Windows here. While it's MUCH better than it used to be, please understand that "Windows" and "stability" or "uptime" aren't generally related concepts.
I have random crashing in the game from time to time. You're never going to fix it 100%. Ever. -
Quote:But brawl is faster. Meaning you can use it as a Fury-builder.As for me, though...I just can't see using this build without Taunt, and slotting Brawl over Boxing just seems silly to me, though I might be wrong; the 4-slotted brawl still does less damage than unslotted Boxing...is it worth it that Brawl is free (endurance-wise)?
-
Depends.
There's "This little spot is cancerous, let's cut if off, give you a little chemo and you're good."
Then there's "It's pretty much metastasized throughout your whole body. It's in your bones, it's in your muscles, it's in all your organs, and even your brain. Get your **** in order."
That's actually a fairly LARGE range of suckitude. -
Note: You WILL notice that the game tends to get choppier right after big patches. Some of this is possibly due to how clients and the servers cache game assets.
That and file fragmentation may have something to do with it as well.
If you're running on a system with a hard drive and 3rd party defrag software, you can:
- Patch.
- Start the game up.
- Do the file checks.
- Log into the game.
- Sign off.
- Defrag the PIGG directory and any fragmented files in the CoH root directory.
My main machine is on an SSD RAID. So I don't need to defrag.
My laptop, I usually have it defrag right after an update with the method described above. -
And every time someone gripes or whines about it, it gets pushed back a year for every previous ask, demand, whine or gripe.
One for you.
One for me.
Two for you.
One, two for me!
Three for you.
One, two, three for me!
Four for you.
One, two, three, four for me! -
Oy! Twist my arm whydontcha?
Okay. Replaced SJ with Flight. Replaced Spring Attack with Hurl (for two decent Ranged attacks).

Right now, the TF should be "fixable" with the game's ambush code.
Instead of triggering at time based intervals, they can set the trigger for when the last dead enemy of the previous group "evaporates".
That's usually something like 30-60 seconds after you kill them. And they're not so strong that a single last enemy couldn't be cycled between players for slow killing to allow teammates to "huff and puff" and get their green and blue bars back in preparation. -
Inv/SS is always a blast. Built right in the endgame, they're some of the toughest tanks extant and can spend vast tracts of time nearly capping their own damage output.
-
Quote:So, you're a Mac.Issues with this build:
(Purely thematic, mind you)
I *need* Flight. I can live without Spring Attack. I don't need Hasten, I don't think, because that's 2 powers I'd like to have on auto, and I don't know that I could keep up with clicking one or the other.
Me? I'm a PC. I prefer function over form. If that means I'm hitting Rage once a minute, so be it. I like ungodly damage output and not having to wait for attacks to make an attack chain and the fact that I spend long tracts of time in double-rage.
If you're hot for a flight power, build a jetpack or go with one of the market flight options. Or, if you don't mind spending a bit, try to go for the Void Skiff in Super Booster 2:

The set bonus remains the same.
Decent recharge (especially if you can get that proc to go off often).
And NICE endurance consumption profile on top of that.
Great! Now I need to level up a Stone/Stone'er.
