WOO! 50! Sorry...Now what were you saying?

    *Edit*

    Okay seriously.

I'm a 15+ month veteran with approximately 2000 hours in the game. I have roughly 8 50's at this point.
HOWEVER, I play frequently (just about every day), and I usually play for extended periods (I get home at night around 6-7 PM and usually play 3-4 hours).
Also, I tend to go on benders (6+ hours) on occasion when there's a goal I want to acheive. Last night I was on until 1 AM to milk the last of the ToT to get the last costume badge on one of my lowbies.

My primary (namesake) was levelled to 50 in approximately 3 months this way, as I played him to the exclusion of all else. On street sweeping mostly (didn't have a really good grasp of the missions framework yet).

Also, I have a couple of speedily (4-5 weeks) leveled characters on another server. They were intended as "project" characters and "gateway" characters, built specifically for their build and enhancement loadouts, and to give me access to high-level events (ship-raids, hami raids, etc) when they came around.

On top of all this, I have approximately 20 non-50 characters that I'm alternating between when I wasn't concentrating on those others. And some of them have their difficulties turned up quite high. So leveling is happening more rapidly.

Have I played through all the content in the game? Hell no!
This gives me an incentive to play still more characters.

I dunno about this. Even at L18, my DO'ed Kat/SR felt stupid tough. Enough that I took it to a Rikti Ship raid. And while I died (exactly three times), it felt a LOT more solid than some other lowbie toons (including brutes) that I've tried to take into such raids (sitting at 60-80% defense helped).

ZERO extra damage slotting (all acc/recharge/endred)

At L20, I stopped worrying about endurance. With the slotting I had, I simply didn't run out of endurance.

At 22, with Quickness and SO slotting, I was able to relax my recharge and endred slotting and finally slot damage.

Take on a pair of +3 bosses?

    Okay?
Medic! One of them ALMOST hit me! It scared me! Give me a sedative!

About the only thing I don't care for in SR is clicky mez protection (I'm lazy, I prefer toggle mez, even if it's weaker). But I can live with it.

Take a toon that isn't mez resistant and duplicate his feat. Then go him one better.

Until then, your talk about stress testing, etc is worth less than the effort it takes to scroll past your post without reading.

Depends on what resolution you want to run it at.

No SSDs or anything fancy, twin "good old fashioned" HDs - and the prices on some of those components will likely go down by the time I buy them.
I already spec'ed out a $700-ish dollar system for someone that should run CoH in Ultra mode acceptably, so long as they aren't expecting to do it at 1920x1080 (though 1600x1050 looks almost doable).

By "separate" I mean you didn't get a copy of the 32-bit-only Win7 Install media.

With the Retail, you get both.

and again, I think ultra mode should be for 64 bit systems. That is what ULTRA is all about.
This has nothing to do with 32-bit or 64-bit. So no, that's not what "ULTRA" is about.
  13. Just me. I'd go Invuln.

Currently have an SS/Inv Brute (running him with minimal FX) and it's just sweet.

I could see playing with the light or dark auras (if it's a brute, go with a dark greenish aura, or a not-so bad Brute...blue/gray).

What level are you at right now?

I've got several non-50's and a villain group to assist you in getting around.
Also, I honestly don't care if you operate in supergroup mode. I am my own prestige-bot.

If you're starting out, I have a couple still in lowbie range. Or can start a new one.

Also, when do YOU normally play?

I'm on from about 7-8PM Eastern till about 11PM-midnight eastern a lot of the time.

Considering the nature of the graphics upgrade, it's fairly certain that a system capable of running it at least "acceptably" shouldn't break the bank.

OEM's are sold with an either-or media. You buy 32-bit and 64-bit separately.

Granted, if you could get your hands on BOTH media types, you're set for whatever.

Simply because you are part of the "older than dirt" crowd of vets here, and the fact that you "know how to play the game" doesn't make you an authority on what is good for the game. Heck, it doesn't technically even mean you really know what you're talking about in this instance.

The players ARE there. It's just that the PL'ing through AE is no longer as rewarding as it was. So what? You weren't, supposedly, talking about the PL crowd anyhow. You're talking about people who care about and want to play Good, Quality Stories.

    Aren't you?

This isn't about farming. Farming happens regardless. Both in and out of AE.

This is about PL'ing and exploit abuse.

I don't have any moral compunctions about PL'ing. If someone wants to race to 50, LET THEM.

What I DO have moral compunctions about is exploit abuse. The Mission Architect was modified the way it was because people found and then abused things that allowed them to rapidly gain rewards at a rate that was FAR in excess of regular content in the game.

If you want to rant about lower population. Rant about lower population.
If you want to rant about loss of content items in AE, rant about loss of content items in AE.
If you want to rant about loss of exploit-farming in AE...well...pick a better argument, because nobody's having any of hit.

Stop trying to argue all three at once as if they were all the same thing. They aren't.

Turning on Dwarf gives extra HP, resistance and a damage penalty, attacks have weak gauntlet like a brute - greys out ranged attacks.

While I understand what you're getting at (since some of the Nova/Dwarf attacks are analogous to some of the human-form attacks), I still think this would be a self-gimp button.

It also removes a lot of what makes the ATs unique.
  21. The thing that turned me back on to my mid-30 Kheldian was starting another one on another server and taking Nova as soon as it came up.

With 4-slotted attacks in Nova, caving around the Hollows was easy mode personified. I levelled THREE FRIGGING TIMES in the Atta mision and only died once at the end while simultaneously levelling AND finishing the mission.

My mid-30's Kheldian was human-only. When I went back to him, I immediately popped to his second build and went tri-form (well, bi-form, Nova/Dwarf and pretty much left human alone save for when I was forced to take human-form/pool powers).

Thus far, he's been a blast to play.

I actually found I never really used Unstoppable. The power is just a delayed death sentence. Since it's completely resistance based, it isn't really helping your survivability if something is already hacking you to pieces.

Also, most tanks that want to win a fight don't charge in and touch off Unstop right off the bat. Unless they're CERTAIN the fight'll take less than 3 minutes.

I also think the editor needs a major overhaul. Like the ability to put rooms up against each other to gain more room. And how about a actual doorway instead of a massive hallway between rooms, etc....

First, simply because someone makes a suggestion doesn't mean the suggestion is a good one.

Second, even if a suggestion is a good one doesn't mean the devs are obligatedto implement it.

Third, even if a suggestion is a good one doesn't mean it's one that's easy to implement. They already took a run at redoing the entire base editor. According to them it was completely ***** and they dropped it.

If these suggestions are good, and they're relatively easy to implement, chances are, we'll see some of them. Eventually. However, the main thrust of the development team is NEW CONTENT. Base editing tweaks come under the heading of QOL (Quality Of Life).

Unfortunately I dont like windows 7. Im too used to XP and want to stick with that.

So Im thinking of buying Windows XP Pro, 64 bit, so I can have all the memory and processing.
My question is, if I get WinXP Pro 64 bit, will COH run great with it?
Its expensive to buy so I want ot make sure before I buy.
    thanks
Currently I'm running XP-x64 on my machine at home. I really don't have any problems with it. HOWEVER, I built my machine with XP-x64 in mind.

That being said, I'd still probably recommend sticking with Win7 at this point. I've got it loaded on my machine at work and it's not terrifically painful.
