That's essentially what I'm doing with all my toons that don't already have travel powers slotted up. I'm waiting until I actually perceive Ninja Run's speed as a problem. THEN I worry about a travel power.

I don't really foresee needing a travel power on my Kat/SR scrapper.
    Sprint+Swift+Quickness+NR?

    How's that commercial go?

If this is all you're doing with the build, I guess so...

Second off, your math is off. 32 points of kb prot plus acro is 41.
Coulda sworn I typed "41". Oh well. Fat fingers strike again.

And its not excessive in the least, especially considering how many toons use powerpush and forcebolt.
    Ah. Good point.

(You also have 41 points of kb prot, so I don't even know why you put that in.)
    As I said, a typo.

Most definitely NOT true. If you're playing at full 50 yeah. If you're exemped, it can make a huge difference in your performance.

Better to do it late so you have other powers available earlier for slot allocation
Again, I disagree. Especially if we're talking about a respec build. I can kinda understand about an organically grown by-leveling build.

While I can understand that he's taking Transfusion and Transference, so end requirements are somewhat muted...

Here's essentially an identical build, the order has simply been changed.

Also, I slotted health SLIGHTLY differently (still gets the same set bonuses). He had the Miracle triple and the Miracle End/Rech in there. When they do nothing for the power (auto with no End cost).

And while I know that you want to avoid KB at all costs, 32 points of knockback protection IO slottings PLUS Acrobatics (49 points total) is...a bit excessive.

EDIT: Also, I didn't bother recreating the Accolades.

Anyhoo, this build can exemp if necessary and doesn't require you to spam transfusion and Transference (or just Transfusion once you go below L30) constantly.

  4. I don't think so. Some of my toons are going NR because they don't really NEED a travel power. But others still retain it because the need is there.
  5. One dumb question. Why are you taking Health and Stamina so late in the build?
  6. Betting that the problem isn't with the drives themselves.

Betting the problem is one of the following:

    1. Certain cheapie controllers have problems with drives above 1TB due to them not having sufficient resources to address the drive properly.
    2. Bad chipset drivers
    3. Running the SATA drive in IDE compatibility mode rather than native SATA.

When these threads pop up, those who argue that good names are not hard to get are often people who seem to favor offbeat or obscure names, and that's great for them if that's what works for them. But this is a superhero game, and many people would like a character name that sounds like a superhero -- something you could conceivably see on the cover of a comic book. These kinds of names are much more challenging to get.
The thing is, you need to be more willing to go with alternate names.

If all you're looking for is settling for ONE name, especially a fairly COMMON one with frequently used descriptive terms, you're boned. Period. Chances are usually good that someone else has had the same idea, but sooner.

Willingness to be flexible in naming will usually yield a more interesting name.

I see what you did there Freud Dude!

Oh, and as to the rest, I agree. Those who "can't" find a suitable name simply aren't trying. Not "not trying hard enough", just "not trying".

I've only had one or two problems descriptively naming characters. But a couple minutes with a thesaurus and it was all good baby! Some of my toon names aren't even in english! If nothing else, it gives people pause and starts conversations.

Okay, others have already given you the bad news.

But, they've also given you what you need to get a system that'll run this game. Father XMas' sig has links for what kind of hardware will be good for running the game in various price ranges.

Processor-wise, just about ANYTHING you buy nowadays is going to be overkill for just plain running the game.

The grahics card is the main thing, and system memory is secondary.

If you're NOT into building your own system, take a look at something like this:

    http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Mega_Special_II/

This base system is nothing super-special, but it'll DEFINITELY run CoH on some fairly high settings. It has what is currently THE best "bang for the buck" in video cards as the default choice.

Note: The default system setup DOES NOT COME WITH AN OPERATING SYSTEM. Windows Home Premium will run you an extra $104. But, for about $800 (shipped, plus tax) it'll be on your doorstep in 2 weeks (rush jobs pay more), and it'll play pretty much anything reasonably.

While I own and play on both a laptop and a desktop setup, I do't really recommend a laptop for a main gaming system. The laptop just isn't going to be in the same performance class unless you spend 2-3x as much as you would on an equivalent desktop system.

Dell would want you do go to their Alienware line of computers to get a decent card (their regular desktops cap out at Radeon 4350's and GeForce 240's). While that'd run...it'd suck. And it'd still be inferior to the CyberPower system.

I'm just trying to take my game to the next level! Thanks guys!!!
Okay, not sure where you're playing, but over on Freedom the Marketing Group (MidLevel Crisis) is running FRad teams on Mondays. Here's the basic guidlines for our teammates.

01: Char and Radiant Aura : your hold and group heal.
02: Fire Cages : Group immobilize (x 8) kills group dead
04: Accelerate Metabolism : the god power, makes everything better slot for recharge as soon as you can
08: Hot Feet : our killing power till we get imps
12: Flashfire : group stun, with multiple casters, even bosses are stunned and will be dead before it wears off.
28: Choking Cloud : big PBAoE around you that holds, with everyone running it, even bosses get held after maybe getting off one attack
32: Fire Imps : 3 little scrappers that follow you around and do just what they want, just like real scrappers
It doesn't really go beyond L32-35 because this is the Marketing groups' attempt to generate items in a level range we perceive as underserved right now. So most of our toons will be locking between 32 and 38.

Other good pools to pull from:

    Speed (Mainly hasten)
Leadership (Any of the first three, with the power being packed here, you shouldn't have to use Vengeance unless you screw up BADLY).
Invisibility (For when you want to stealth missions)
Teleport (Again, for stealthing missions (and stealth procs are nice too))

Oh, we slow down for AVs of course. While he's choking, we lock debuffs on and just let Hot Feet carry him off. On an Fire/Rad team, if you're doing it right, you spend a lot of time standing there, letting the guys just die.

Basic suggestions for the build (lots of free space for other choices).

Also, BAB posted a while back about this. So there may be some hope for more customizable effects on this power in the semi-near future.

Thank you. I'm aware that the build has rough edges. They're edges that don't really make an appreciable difference in my play, so I can usually ignore them.

-Could probably benefit from more Nrg/Neg defense. One could use 3 thunderstrikes instead of the purples in laser-beam eyes, plus the devastation triple/quad for 12% regen, 2.5% more def, and 2% more recov.
Yeah, I've been thinking of that. As I said in the above post, all that's there right now are common IOs.

    Quote:
-Footstomp looooves FF Chance for Rech. If you don't want to spend the money on purples, use 5 obliterations.
I had that in my primary build (one of Vox Populi's "Super Tanker" builds). I never really noticed it going off enough to make a difference.

    Quote:
-Rage is already perma. If you wanted, 2 rectified recticle and 1 rech IO would still be perma with hasten, plus you get another 1.88% melee def.
No really sure that'd actually get me anything appreciable, as the overwhelming majority of melee-range attacks have an S/L component already.

    Quote:
-You actually get better regen numbers from a numina heal over a regenerative tissue unique in the third slot. (that's a lvl 30 numi, too)
Hmm. Interesting, but to be honest, most of the time I'm being hit so little, that what little damage makes it through the resistances gets healed almost immediately. Something to think about though.

So for the love of god, please think before we act ok?
Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner.

1: I'm currently running this build sans-purples. So the two powers in question are slotted Acc, Dmg x3, EndRed.

2: It's a planned build that retains defense capping down to about L30. This is why the IOs are not all max-value.

3: The build is better. It's defense capped for S/L, it's also Resistance capped for them as well. It's built for perma-rage. And it has Conserve Power up for long fights, though pacing your attacks will prevent end crashes as well. Also, if you DO happen to be hurt, you have DP pretty much universally available.

Compare it to your build in Mids. Look at the Totals tab.

4: It's not meant to be some godawful damage output monster. It's meant to basically just be as survivable as possible against large + Level mobs.

5: By overslotted, it means you have way too many enhancement slots dedicated to a power and can achieve maximal results with fewer slots.

In a couple of your powers, you have 6-slotted defenses. Most of that is going to be taking you beyond caps for the primary (defense or resist) and wasting slots for just end redux or recharge is pointless (as the armors should never come down).

6: Your BIG end eaters are NOT your armors. They're your attacks. This is where you'll benefit far more from endredux.

Note: If leaping isn't your "thing", I'm in the process of rebuilding the primary build (the one with all the purples) into a flight-oriented version of this build.

The place FRads kick is on TEAMS. Put 6-8 FRads together and stuff just kinda "goes away...in a hurry" on you.

The market group, MidLevel Crisis has an FRad team going Monday nights on Freedom. We're doing Synapse next week. Think you can hammer a toon to 15 by next week?
  20. First off,

What does your budget look like? Just want to avoid looking dumb(er) if I were to say, oh...Falcon Northwest, and find out your budget is $600.
  21. Okay, Birthday's over! NOW PUT YER SHIRT BACK ON!

While I think that Westley joking around instead of answering truthfully was somewhat inappropriate, I think you've got the wrong idea here.

It's not that ANY server needs support. But the lower pop servers have the same retention issues as the higher-pop servers. And new blood is needed to offset player attrition.

If everyone simply goes to "the busiest server" all the time, you eventually DO have problems finding teams. Even when actively looking and recruiting.

Right now, the issue of "can't find teams on low pop servers" is mainly the perception of people sitting on their thumbs expecting to just be picked up.

If everyone simply dives for the highest population server all the time, every time, it eventually will make the perception a reality.

We stopped in the neighborhood of 13-15 (I started at L10 and was 15 when I logged last night).

Burned a bunch of AE tickets and finally slotted up. Died a lot more than I wanted to (partially because I was complete unslotted, partially because I was playing stupidly).

We're getting a bit better about coordinating AMs.
