  1. Exactly how "multi" are you talking?

If just two accounts, pretty much any i5 or i7 will do just fine.
Memory will be a bigger concern (the more the better, but figure between 1 and 2GB per instance just to be safe).
If you're simply flipping between instances, graphics card isn't as important.
If you're running in windowed mode with multiple instances displaying simultaneously, you'll want to go beefier with your graphics card choice.
  2. Damn,

Some people are just idiots. Crazy idiots.

Glad you're okay man. Yeah. Best...headache...EVER!
  3. I think the ending kinda fit with Nolan's more "grounded in reality" approach to Batman.

People have said it before. There's NOBODY that could keep that kind of activity up for protracted periods of time. It takes its toll.

For a bit of comparison. The average career of a professional football player? 3.3 years.

The average career of a running back? 2.57 years.

Now, instead of one game a week for 17 weeks out of the year, imagine going out NIGHTLY and getting the ever loving crap beaten out of yourself.

How long is anyone, even those at the absolute pinnacle of human wellbeing, training, and ability, going to last?

Most people would be cripples in days or weeks. Some lucky ones would last months, maybe a year.

Extensive combat training only helps a little, you're STILL going to be injured in protracted fights. Regardless of how good you are. NOBODY beats up 10+ people, wielding guns, without picking up injuries.

Armor only helps a little too. And the added strain of lugging all that equipment around leads to stress injuries.

And, as the pain catches up with you, it WILL slow you down even more. Exposing you to ever greater injuries and still more pain.

I don't care HOW angry you are at the world for your parents dying. Waking up every morning feeling like you've been worked over by an entire neighborhood of baseball bat-wielding (pardon the pun) linebackers is going to cool you off pretty quick.

Going through the rest of the day, hopped up on painkillers to keep you from screaming like a little girl the entire time helps that along as well.

It's very VERY hard to focus on emotional trauma when the physical trauma is so much more immediate.

So, in the Nolan-verse, Batman eventually IS going to step down (or get killed). Quite simply because nobody can do that kind of thing for more than a few years (and most certainly not forever).

As such, I didn't have much of a problem with the finale.

Early in the movie though, it was kind of all over the place and could have used a bit of tightening up.

And yeah, the ADR for Bane really REALLY needed some work. I'm not sure why they left it that way.
  4. Damn...

My condolences to his friends and family.
  5. There's also the fact that, in a 360 second period, you'll have the ability to fire off your Nuke at least twice as often as a similarly slotted/enhanced i23 Nuke.

Sitting at Recharge cap, you're capable of firing off nearly ten i24 nukes in the same time it takes to fire off four similar i23 nukes.

    With no crash.

    DoT Nirvana!
  6. If you're set on Sony, okay.

Take a look-see at this comparable Asus.

SCHWEET! One less thing I need to lug to a con!
As much as I love going to cons, sometimes being the only guy from the company in the Midwest (see "Default Logistics Schmuck") can be a pain (in multiple locations).

    Cool.
  8. With those specs, it should play just fine.

Honestly, I'm a big non-fan of Sony. They tend to design "boutique" machines that are very cool and stylish but fragile. That and you're paying markup for the Sony name.
  9. Inv/SS, Inv/Street Justice, Inv/Titan Weapons!
  10. Yeah, the whole notion of "bullet proof skin" making you essentially invulnerable is kinda...well...ignorant of physics.

Sure, you might not get a penetrating wound, but there's still all that soft tissue damage underneath. That kind of blunt force trauma can still break bones, disrupt arteries, etc.

Take a look-see at this vid (at about 7:40 onward).
  11. Sorry, was doing other things for a bit. I missed it on the first pass. I agree with Zybron1 and Newchemicals. Try patching your system up as far as it can go, then try again.

If it fails, try reinstalling the client and try again.

    Good idea, no?

    Pop up adverts?

  15. Actually, I passed this on the 4th of July. Just been so distracted I'd forgotten about it.

Can't believe it's been that long already...

And, back in 2008, had someone told me I'd be here this long, I'd probably have laughed at them.

Well, here's to at least another 4 years!
  16. Basically, i24 is shaping up to be some of the biggest QOL changes in the game since i16.
  17. No glowy-feet on SS and glowy-hands on Hasten?

And because Zwill asked for it:

  18. Also, I'm a little worried.
32-bit Windows with just under 1.5GB free.
And it looking like it's trying to open up a fairly large texture.

Now, the game SHOULD simply begin paging. But if it's eating up 1.5GB of memory while running. Well, this is the area where apps in 32-bit windows start acting strange. Normally a 32-bit process will be allotted up to 2GB of memory (if available), but in my experience, running anything over 1.5 tends to lead to "squirrelly" behavior.
  19. Sorry I was there for such a short span.
My net connection was horrific this evening.

    Oh. Did I mention?

So I popped off and couldn't sign back on. Or browse the web.
    Or anything.

Apparently my provider decided I needed a break from T3H INT@RW3BZ tonight.

    Oh yeah. And...

I've made up my mind to kick the next phone-company guy I see in the nards.

Hopefully I won't have to go over to my uncle's place before they lay him off...

Right. Which is exactly the point I made before you said it was the fault of the laptop.
Okay, a client that puts more stress on the system and causes it to heat up more than usual.

Laptops, which are sub-optimal platforms for gaming to begin with due to their cooling options limiting the power of their hardware and a tendency for higher-end systems to be hot-boxes.

A VERY thin laptop with not a lot of actual airspace (even by regular laptop standards) in which to move cool air over components.

Cue high volume fans to compensate by moving the air more rapidly over the components in the limited air space available.

High volume in limited space = turbulence.

    Turbulence = noise.

It's not the rig, chief. If you don't want us to fight, read more carefully and reconsider your reply before blaming the hardware.
If people had not automatically ***-pulled that I was mac-ranting, you'd have actually noticed I was saying it was a group of concatenating issues leading up to the problem at hand.

But hey, it's more fun to be the picked-on, misunderstood person for one's "lifestyle choice". Right?

Maybe I need to just stick to making guides and ignoring ...people... who have nothing better to do than take offense at what I say because they can't read properly.
  21. Head over here:

Post the data asked for in the above guide back here in this thread it'd help.

Also, you might try running a repair on your install.
    1. Open up the NCSoft Launcher (don't just launch the game).
    2. Right-click on City of Heroes and select Repair (Consistency Check)
Let it run through. It sounds like you may have a texture in one of your PIGG files that is corrupted. Or is too large for your system for some reason.

Please do BOTH of the above-suggested actions. As there may be multiple facets to this issue combining to create the behavior you've documented.

  23. This is Lobo we're talking about.
His personality is about as shallow as an evaporated puddle.
Even a pro wrestler couldn't get him "wrong".
