All of these. Plus, how to you stop people from exploiting problems with the game rendering engine.
Years and years (and years and years) ago, I was in a Quake2 clan. One of our guys turned us on to a mod that was "meh", but was mildly entertaining for a while.
Anyhoo, later on, after he'd moved off to one of our rival clans, his skills seem to take a HUGE increase, completely out of proportion with his previous showings.
We figured he was cheating, just couldn't figure out HOW.
Anyhoo, my buddy and I are on the server alone one day and he's squatted up in a hole in the map (nice sniper point). Normally, people who do this are visible and after a couple ambushes, get blasted.
Well, I approached him every way I could think of. And he could have sworn I saw him.
Nope.
So we start going through textures and models.
Turns out the "crouch" model for that particular mod was a cheat. All the polys were zeroed out. So when you crouch, you appear to go all "Ant Man" and shrink out of existence. But you can still fire. Just, nobody can see you.
We basically videoed and screencapped the entire thing. Then swapped the model for the default Quake model and a gaudy "Here I am SHOOT ME!" skin.
He pretty much fell completely off the standings that month for our server cluster. We then advertised what he'd been doing to everyone on the server.
So this, in addition to the devs being unwilling to expose the workings of the game client to players would pretty much make this a "no".
Besides, all players would have to have the assets for anyone to see them. Otherwise you would have the appearance of a broken model, as the game doesn't have a default skin or pieces if you're missing things. -

Quote:I'm going to arrest you by:This. What part of a chainsaw-wielding maniac or hockey-stick-swinging pothead screams superhero?
- Hacking you with my axe
- Crushing your skull in with my mace
- Bisecting your liver with my broadsword
- Slicing important parts off you with my katana
- Cut/smashing your with my stupidly huge titan weapon
- Shooting you
- Setting you on fire
- Freezing you
- Exposing you to radiation
- Exposing you to different forms of energy
- Poisoning you
- Dousing you with acid
- Making you fall down in a field of really sharp caltrops
- Blowing you up.
- Beating you into bloody jello with super strength
It's all in concept, presentation and execution (pardon the pun).
As for those who have the dosh to go to the con.
I pretty much ALWAYS have that. My problem is actually having the TIME to do that. My day job keeps me VERY busy. My sideline business keeps my "free time" just as busy.
It always sucks to be the person left out by circumstance. And I've griped about it myself.
Still, people DID shell out the cash and make the time to get there. It behooves Paragon to give such demonstrative fans SOME level of input into the game.
Otherwise the player's summit would consist of:
- Arrive
- Presentation of "What's up Paragon's Sleeve"
- Lunch
- Fly home

Quote:Pretty much the crowd at the last Player's Summit.So...the fans voted for Casey Jones?
*facepalm*
I'm wildly unimpressed, Dink. Not in your talents, in whoever decided this is what you should be focusing your incredibly amazing talents on.
The favored theme was "post apocalyptic". And yeah, Casey Jones was thrown around as an aesthetic for a grungy, "found materials" kind of look. -
Just for the trauma this thread has induced upon me, I shall reach back into my Bag O' Anime Central and produce a...

I love the Lillitu mission in SSA2-2. Her first shot. Right through 50+% defense and all I can do is wait for my AoEs to recharge because I can't target her at all for over a minute.

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.
Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.
Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.
Enjoy the pie Sherman. You earned it man. -
Will be there. Just stepping out to grab some chow first (hard to tank if I'm gnawing at my keyboard).

Damn!
That looks nice! You've pretty much guaranteed a sale here. -
Quote:Yeah, that is why the web-app I am making doesn't involve anyone else.
The community team would post a code/website combo on Twitter, players log into the named website and they'd get an unique code from a code pool to use.
If you can get it to work and you can get them to accept it, more power to you boss. -
Quote:This comment could cut both ways. This is just one of the many reasons I like working with the City of Heroes community so much. I've played a fair number of games in my time, but the people here are a really special bunch, and I feel honored to be able to work with you all :-).

Two more trays of enhancements for me!

Quote:That's the problem. They don't have an IT department member for that. They have a, technically, 3rd party web development group that's tough to get work out of.I'm sad to hear this. I honestly don't think it would be too hard to ask your IT department to whip up something with the Twitter API that Posts a tweet, gets the first 100 users to retweet that tweet, then send a DM to each of those user with a line from a text file of codes with just a push of a button for each command, but I haven't have had much experience with APIs myself (or else I'd try to write it for you).
As for your assertion of simplicity while admitting to dearth of experience with the API. Standard code rant applies.
If they DO bring it back, hopefully they'll do it with non-costume-piece items, as locking up costume pieces this way raises all sorts of ugly problems (myself being one of them). -
Not gonna comment on this again. Anything I say on this subject wouldn't come across as "nice" or polite and would likely just get modded into oblivion.

Quote:Well, it's not as if they could have had a cat fight. Now that I think about it, Miranda/Talia suffered from Hathaway's Catwoman,
-Hathaway hit Catwoman right on the nail, and generally did a great job here
Miranda unmasked as Talia only had a very short amount of time.
and in contrast was generally unremarkable, despite the build up. Truthfully, the movie would've lost nothing had she been revealed as just another generic member of the League of Shadows( and would've been better off going that route)
And in truth, trying to fit Selina AND Talia in the same film was bound to cause this problem w/o adding another 30 min - hour to the film, there simply isn't enough space there to both of them justice
The name alone tells you who'd have won.

Quote:No. BAD! BAAAAD!Has anyone mentioned "simplify enhancements yet?"
1. Get rid of "combining"
They'd either have to RIDICULOUSLY expand store inventories and move to enhancements for every single level (rather than every 5), or players would have to deal with certain levels sucking royally because you can't plus up enhancements to keep bonuses at a consistent level.
Quote:2. Get rid of TOs and DOs.
Quote:3. Make enhancements work for a a larger range of levels. Don't have them "go red." Just slowly degrade their bonus instead.
Quote:4. Rename everything so that the names make sense.
Quote:5. Lose origins.
Let's see.
Rewrite so everyone's origin and origin powers (which nobody above the teens use) all are bland and homogeneous.
OR
Use the time and resources to give us more NEW stuff.
I shall evince preference for the latter.
Quote:Hi everyone,
I think this is a good discussion, and it has a lot of potential. However, please avoid detracting from that potential by posting things like "signed", which only serve to lengthen the thread without improving content.
Thank you,

Pfft. I started this game well after I was officially too old to trust (which 30), and I'm homing in on senility now (the big 4.0, next year).
Wait. What was I saying?
Whoops. Time to change the Depends again! Nurse! Nurse!
Now what was I saying? -
Quote:Okay, keep in mind the build I posted is a FINALIZED build. It's not something you necessarily want to use as a template for leveling up.Hi Hyper!
Thanks for the critics, i see your point and they all seem to be valid. I am working on the build while I level, keeping an close eye on your advise
Look at frankenslotting to maximize Acc and EndRedux (and look at kicking up recharge).
Quote:Again, thanks Hyper, you rock!
Anyhoo. If you happen to be running this Fire/Rad on Freedom, we have a regular group every Monday night at 9PM Eastern. We meet on the hill in Talos. Come! See! Melt enemies and cackle like a depraved fiend!
