Okay. You asked for it.

Better?
Honestly, you think the devs are going to drop another 50-to-500-fold decrease on us by swapping to Inf? Doubtful.Quote:Actually when you look at the numbers I've posted I think you only have to have the resources of an active player. I don't really think it would be hard to earn a few million, but you would still have the set aside for those who are market clueless.
The problem is, you're essentially rube-goldberging another system that's just a nasty kludge of what we have now.Quote:Keep in mind that almost all these prices are paid in influence which is plentiful. Numerous posters in this forum have pointed out that you actively have to avoid making money to be poor.
Base building is ALREADY accessible to everyone who wants to.Quote:I think this would make base builing accessible to just about everyone who wanted to do so.
Immediately on hitting level 10? No. But nobody ever intended a new player to have a max-sized base with all the trimmings on their first L10 anyhow. -
Quote:PercussionHey everybody, I really need some help coming up with a good name for my Energy/Energy Blaster. I had originally intended to call him Collision, but it was taken. Now I can't decide what to call him. Any suggestions, please?

Quote:This would penalize small/one-player bases.1. Prestige is still earned but at a reduced amount, say to about 25% of current levels.
Sorry. NO. This would be a switch back to the bad old says of base rent and slaving away an entire month just to be able to pay rent and be unable to expand. Again, a penalty to small/one-player base owners. They would either have to farm like mad, marketeer like crazy, or wind up buying gold if they wanted to expand their bases.Quote:Recalculate rent to be based on square footage and storage to be paid with influence.
No. Very few people use the conversion now BECAUSE it's so stupidly out of whack. All the above suggestions do is slow down base development by making it financially unattractive.Quote:Keep the transfer rate from Inf to prestige the same. Since there will less prestige available it may be more attractive than before.
This is like expecting "fair" distribution of drops from the old Hami raid.Quote:Base builders can use personal influence or collect influence from team mates to build with. (possibly set aside a percentage of inf. When running in supergroup mode that transfers to a base account)
And if you're going to do an inf set-aside mechanic, why not just stick with Prestige?
Let me say this as clearly and concisely as I know how, as well as gently as it merits.Quote:Possibly raise prices on all base items to be bought by inf by adding a 0 to the end.
HELL NO!
The base editing community fought long and hard for the price reductions to make base editing more accessible to people. All your suggestions so far has SQUAT to do with marketing, inf surpluses (other than incidentally), or anything else relating to inflation.
This is already in place with crafted items (telepads, advanced control and power items, etc).Quote:Items bought with Inf do not refund inf when sold/deleted. That inf is gone. Items bought prestige are refunded as per the current system.
No, this would just bleed base builders dry and wouldn't help the market in any way.Quote:What I think it would do is allow base builders more freedom in base design because they will be able to afford bigger plots and more rooms and items. There will still be incentives to run in SG mode because teleporters and base upgrades are personal items and must be purchased through prestige.
Only if you are a personal base builder with inf resources like SMurphy.Quote:It might be a small sink, but it would be great for personal base builders and every sink will help. -

Wish I could say my VG was that active, but it's just me. Unfortunately I'm so altoholic right now that I haven't played Virtue redside for a while...
Nice base BTW. -
Okay, the costumes do look cool.
My only real gripe is a grip I have with pre-existing costumes too.
The head-neck, and midsection joins.
Many of them (including the new sets) have very OBVIOUS demarcations (essentially a line that highlights the differences of the textures on upper body and lower body quite badly).
Same thing with the head-neck join. Except it's even more obvious. And, in some cases, you can actually see daylight (or whatever's behind you) through the line.
Don't get me wrong. I love the stuff. It's just that I want my toons to have a nice, uniform CONTIGUOUS look. Not like it's a head on a barbie doll that can be popped off and stuck on another body. -

Quote:I currently use AVG and am having zero issues with CoH.So I'm having issues logging into City Of Heroes, and this happened right after I re-installed AVG (Anti Virus Guard for those of you who don't know), and I know that this i the issue because I've had this problem when I tried to do the Dual Pistols Beta. What happens is: I'll load up the game, put in my username and password, then the game will let go to the server selection screen, after that it goes black then I get the "City Of Heroes has encountered an error and had to shut down" message, I tried verifying and that didn't help, and I don't want to go with some anti virus software. Please help
You may need to rip and reinstall CoH (yes, I know, pain, LOTS OF PAIN!) -
As my reg date shows, I'm not an "old timer" here.
Up until a couple years ago, I was still in school and scratching along on a 6+ year old computer.
That and I had a massive chip on my shoulder against "rent to pwn".
Still, I'd seen it around and thought it was interesting.
I wish I could say that it was CoH that knocked that chip off, but it wasn't.
I played Pirates of the Carribean Online for a couple months. What eventually drove me away there was the single leveling path.
Still, eventually I DID upgrade my computer and stumbled across CoH again while waltzing through my local Frys. I figured "what the hell".
Well, it was only about 2 days later that I started "collecting" all the rest of the editions of CoH/CoV and after all the "free" time expired, I started paying.
It's cheaper than dinner and a movie. It lasts longer. And best of all, it's a HELL of a lot more interactive.
That and I'm a community junkie to some degree (kinda how I got into the gaming industry in the first place). -
Quote:Yeah. This was the main problem.Yeah it seemed to me that the faceplants were mainly people who got seperated from the group.
As I'm leading off, I expect a few deaths on my part. Normally because I'll draw an alpha before all the heals can save me. It happens and I'm not chuffed by personal debt.
Yeah. Again, it happens. As you play more with the group, the rhythm of the party's combat interactions gets a bit easier to read. We had a bunch of "new" people in the group and that makes it a bit awkward for all involved. Overall though , it was a very not-bad run.Quote:I know the only death I had was beacause I attacked right when you went left. My fault, because I am used to leading, for not sticking with the leader, not yours.
Autofires, especially when the team is hopped up on multiple AMs and killing stuff faster than they can push buttons, are par for the course too. And, for the most part, it wasn't like we couldn't handle it.Quote:I did notice a few auto fires (mea Culpa) that drew aggro before we were quite ready but those worked out ok for the most part.
Misfire: Oops!
Rest of the team: MORE TINDER!
One thing I actually prefer to do is target an enemy, then hit F to follow him. This way I'm not trying to shaky-hand-steer my way to him.Quote:Also, with AM stacked, you really have to be careful with movement. It is very easy to overshoot the mark and end in a world of hurt. The fact that it isn't constant means you should always check before moving to see if it be fast or slow.
Yes they will. However, the basic premise of Stun/Immob/Hold, then run in and let Hot Feet and Choking Cloud do their thing still holds pretty true. Even when not on a superteam.Quote:Still, I had a great time and made 4 levels. I am not sure how much this experience will help with my other toon who is on a mixed team though. There won't be AM stacking or multiple controls to make overpower automatic and I suspect Radiation Infection and Enervating Field to get more of a work out.
It took me a while to get into a rhythm with my attacks so I didn't spam myself dry. Usually by the time you get Shockwave slotted out, you're usually a lot more confident in your abilities.
Ideally, as a team we should have half of us starting out with fire cages and the other half doing Shockwave. This way the groups get immobilized and stunned simultaneously. Ideally everyone should be stunned and immobed. But generally half or more have both effects happen, and the remaining quarters have one or the other.
Also, on teams, I normally crank the difficulty up a bit more. We were running with 7 guys at +0x8. Nothing horrendous. If it's a team full of regulars, we'll do +2 or +3. And as some of you guys get more confident, I'll bump the diff up there too.
And yeah, who needs PL when you have a team full of Fire/Rads?

Okay, I can understand why you went for set bonuses. But, to be honest, the build is not going to do what you want it to. You've build an "I wanna be a blaster" build. Fire/Rad is not really going to perform well under those circumstances.
I echo pretty much everything Local Man said. -
Okay, just a quick blurb. Will fill in more tomorrow.
14 people! Two teams again tonight! Lotsa new faces!
Team 1 ran Posi2. We had a lot of new faces and I should have been a bit more explicit in my instructions. As such, we had a fair number of faceplants. All pretty much my fault and I'll try to do a bit better next time.
However, Doc V spent pretty much his entire existence of the fight choking and burning. And levels dropping all over the place on people.

- Match Head
- Dreamglass
- Van Pyros.
- Gamma-Pyre Dan
- Vortex Core
- Hell Diation
- Kaylee Foxtrot
From what I understand, the Moonfire TF went off without a hitch! Thanks to Therm O'Dynamic for leading! Everyone I talked to on that team said it was a very smooth experience.
- Therm O'Dynamic
- Main-Sequence
- Zero Decay
- Greased Wheels
- Ashlar
- Crimson Image
- Erif Noitaidar
I want to thank everyone who showed tonight! Good work and it just keeps getting better. So I hope to see all of you again! -

Quote:I'd be willing to help you get an Fire/Rad team off the ground over there.Any interest out there in forming some Frad superteams on Virtue? all my villains are on Freedom :-(
About all I'd request is that it be done on another night so we don't have to have people choosing between events. -

Dumb question. Is this a leveling build or a respec rebuild?
-
Quote:So, because you're sloppy with your logic and language, we're supposed to automatically intuit what you're attempting to say (regardless of the fact that your wording may say something completely and utterly contrary) and just agreed to it?You know, the whole, "Nazis would exist without Hitler" thing shows how right I a about the difference between knowledge and understanding, because when I said "Without hitler there would be no Nazis" it would be assumed that you all would understand what I meant is not the exact words that I said.
You need to be very, VERY careful basing your arguments on "maybes" and "mights". You're postulating something you have absolutely no way of backing up or proving.Quote:What I meant is, before Hitler joined the Nazi party and started his propaganda, they were a small political party that no one cared about. Without Hitler Nazis would likely have never became such a big political party or win any election, and likely would either died out or remained small to this day. So in the form that most people know the Nazi Party would not have existed. -
Quote:I actually got a good look at a Ghost Widow model in longer-term use during the anniversary event.Hmm...
I might as well beat Golden Girl to the punch here. Ghost Widow has animated hair, I believe based largely on the trench-coat rigging or the wedding pack's tail-coat rigging.
It would be... nice... if that rigging was exposed to the players as a costume option.
I think it would be... acceptable... if taking animated hair was like taking a trenchcoat, tail-coat, wings, or capes: taking it disqualifies you from having other rigging effects.
You're right. It's essentially a trenchcoat/tail-coat rig attached to the a head point.
The problem I saw was that, depending on the model size, you've got an issue like you do with large models and the GvsE jump pack. If it isn't fitted right, it either embeds in the head or stands off away from the head model.
Additionally, because it's a jerry-rigged cape effect, you get issues like this (notice the hovering lotus-position GW).

I dunno if you really want hair that starts at the head, curves out and away (avoiding the shoulders and the head-torso interface completely, and then calls straight down). -
Quote:And I repeat for your eventual benefit.False statement is false.
Please don't try to give the illusion that you "actually listen" to the player base when in reality you don't. Need I mention the "new" and "better" pvp?
See the above post for another example.
The devs do listen.
Does it necessarily make a difference? Not always.
Does it mean you're going to be auto-given exactly what you want simply because you're were willing to voice your desire? Nope!
Does it mean the devs priorities take a back seat to player priorities? Not always. -

Hello all.
Whenever I try to download the updated copy of Mids, from the Titan Network, onto my PC, which has Vista as the OS, I get the above error message.
I have had no problems with downloading the older versions in the past, so I am quite puzzled.
Anyone have any ideas as what to try?
Thanks so much in advance.

Have you tried doing "Run as Administrator" on the installer instead of just clicking on it to run?
Right-click and select "Run as Administrator". -
Quote:Agg,I know there's a script that's been made that strips colors out of people's signatures. I use that and love it.
However, lately there has been an issue that's getting worse, with people using ridiculously tiny text (and not for sarcasm or "asides"), really bad fonts (including our rednames...stop doing that!), or really terrible color choices. For a recent example, this is NOT the worst offender I've seen. Just in case she edits it to more sane colors: that is a comment in neon green, followed by a parenthesized comment in neon blue, followed by a line of neon pink. (Note that I'm not making fun of her. Amerikatt can be adorable, but that was just...awful.)
Is there a script that strips/overwrites font size/face/color formatting from posts? Preferably one that I can turn on and off easily, since guides and such often include legitimate changing of font style.
(Yes, I know I am inviting trolls and wannabe-comedians to post in this thread with horrific formatting.)
If you're using Firefox, you can turn off the stylesheet.
Firefox: View --> Style --> No Style
You'll get a very rough, raw page layout, but no lousy BBcode colors.
Haven't found an option to do it in IE. And I don't fart around with Chrome, Opera or (ugh) Safari. So I can't tell you if those do or not. -
And a defense-capped happy B-Day to you!
