  1. As BP said, your toggles are absolutely NUTS.

There's also the fact that you're pretty much completely Single-Target-centric. That's kinda bad for crowd control.

Here's a quickie rework. I yanked SuperSpeed (you already have SuperJump) and Maneuvers (built right, you don't need it).

The powers here aren't really chosen in any particular order and can be moved around so they're more advantageous and organic.

  2. For some reason the game isn't reading your VIP status properly (most likely).

You could try logging off then back on to see if it refreshes your status.

Also, you FULLY completed any previous Ouro flashbacks or AE missions and are no longer in a TF mode right?

I've read Father Xmas's guides to building my own computer, and I have completely ruled it out, but I had a bad experience with my prior computer that I built myself and really want the comfort of someone to call if there's a problem.

It'll be hooked up to a 1920x1080 monitor (through a KVM if that matters). Ultramode is desirable but given the budget I know there will be compromises.

So, any recommendations? Will be buying in a week or two. I checked out the dell XPS 8500 - it'll be replacing an XPS 410 which I've been happy with.

If you can post back the information here, that'd help us narrow down your choices a bit.

So how would you feel if as a compromised they released the Wisp Aura for sale? I think it would sell fairly well as I see a LOT of people using this aura.

    Thoughts?
Honestly, I think that if it's a costume part, aura, etc, that isn't somehow unlockable in-game, it should be put up for sale.

Honestly, even powers like Power Slide should be put up.

That is what is confusing me,cause at this time I need to know exactly what goes into those HO's slots as SO's? This way I know what to put in those HO's slots while I'm leveling up, I don't want to sound like a ***** I just need a complete SO build. I still have a lot to learn and understanding of this game, you see where I am comming from? I need to know what goes into those slots instead of HO's so I'm not sitting here and going ok does this HO'S needs to be replaced with a SO acc or endredex or damage or recharge.

I apologize for sounding like a ***** but I'm just returning back to game and I just need the SO build not a build with any HO's ect... Till I feel very confortable
with the game again and get all my bearings of what is going on in the game ( the basics ) -
Honestly, for most of your attacks, 5 slots should be fine.

If you want to max damage:

Acc, Dam x3, and either an EndRed or a Recharge.

If you want to make sure you're hitting more often:

Acc x2, Dam x2, and an EndRed or Rech as you prefer.

If you have spare slots at the end, yeah, go ahead and six-slot out a couple attacks to add an EndRed or a Recharge (whichever you didn't add before) or a third Damage SO.

In your active resists (Fire Shield, Plasma Shield, Tough),

Go with 2-3 Resists and an EndRed.

In your passive resist (Temp Protection), go with just Resists (since it costs no endurance).

In Healing Flames, I'd just go two Recharge and two Heals. Only devote more if you find it isn't coming up often enough for you.
  7. Note: I'd pull one of the Damage SOs from Burn and actually slot an Acc in there.

There's exactly ZERO reason for you to take Air Superiority. You can now take the second-tier powers from travel pools (Teleport, Fly, Super Jump) without taking a prerequisite.

You haven't slotted up Health or Stamina at all. They're inherent now. Use them.

Taunt is AutoHit in PVE. And you're NOT going to be taking this build into PVP competitively.

If you're just returning, your funds may be limited right now.
But, once you build those up, look into at least temporarily unlocking the Auction House and purchasing Hamidon Origin enhancements. They work just like dual-aspect SOs and could save you some slots while boosting performance.

For instance. You're currently two-slotting Acc and three-slotting Damage.
Three Nucleolus Exposures (or Synthetic Nucleolus Exposures) provide the same damage buff and MORE accuracy than you're currently burning 5 slots for.

And Ribosome Exposures. They provide Resistance and Endurance Reduction. So they're ideal for Fire Shield and Plasma Shield.

Membrane Exposures do +ToHit and Recharge.

Golgi Exposures do Heal and Endurance Redux.

Here's a quickie rework of what your build could look like on a mix of SOs and HOs.

No, that's like trying to pull digital data off storage medium hand-carved in granite blocks being read to you buy a guy on a crummy cell phone connection with a limited call plan.

Compared to the DMV, pulling a terabyte of data off old tape media from the 70's is like being told the answer before you even thought to ask the question...

    Seriously though:

Fastest processing time: In-flight on the CPU (happening NOW)
Next fastest: In CPU cache (first, second or third tier cache, with each being marginally slower than the previous tier): Time measured in nanoseconds (billionths of a second)
Next fastest: In system memory: Time still measured in nanoseconds, but more being added on for slower memory and connection latency.
Next fastest: An SSD bulk storage: Time measured in fractions of a millisecond (thousandths of a second) plus connection latency.
Next fastest: A hard drive bulk storage cache: Time measured in milliseconds plus connection latency.
Next fastest: A hard drive bulk storage physical medium: 3-20 milliseconds

Jump from nanoseconds to milliseconds = 6 orders of magnitude negative impact on speed/latency.

    In terms of physical speed:

Fastest medium (not in-flight) would be a car capable of 200 miles per hour.
Hard drive bulk storage would be the equivalent of walking at a rate of 1 foot an hour (or less).

Could be a blaster. Then you're pretty much "Everything is coo*FLOORSMOOTCH*"
  13. Pretty much what Arcana said.

You're still fairly new to the game. Don't expect to become an expert at everything overnight. Or even in a few weeks or months. There's LOTS of stuff in this game. I've been playing four years and there's still stuff I'm "iffy" on, as well as stuff I just flat-out don't know.

The best way to learn isn't always by having someone tell you "the *right* way" or even "the *best* way". It's for you to try it on your own, fall on your face a couple times while coming to figure out what certain powers do. THEN tweaking things and watching how much of a difference it makes.

My original build for my main toon was squishy as all hell. Mostly because I didn't understand the mechanics very well yet. My current build is a couple orders of magnitude tougher, sure. But I've also got a MUCH firmer grasp on his capabilities now. I have a friend who plays intermittently and has been around at least as long as I have. In their words, I'm roughly 10x the tank I used to be.

And that experience rolls over into other tanks, brutes and scrappers as well, even ones still sporting TOs and DOs. I leveled up another tank almost identical to my primary and the experience was MUCH easier the second time around. It also resulted in a MUCH more well-rounded tank as well.

Instead of taking up all your time learning how to min-max the game right off the bat, PLAY the game instead. This way you gain a much broader, deeper understanding of what baseline performance is, and why those min-maxing tweaks are so effective.

    Teh devs should fix that.
*Edit* My bad. Thought you were talking about the raid in general. Not whacking down dropships. Sorry.

Actually there ARE badges (and an Accolade) tied to it.

    One for killing bombs.
    One for killing Rikti.
    One for killing Assault suits.

Getting them all gets you the Watchman accolade and the Elusive Mind power.

There are also weapon unlocks for Rikti Sword, Rikti Katana, Rikti Axe, Rikti Blaster and Rikti Rifle.

I don't think anyone would complain about any of the buffs that come with inspirations being cast on them randomly, but just in case, throw in a default-on option that toggles between current and auto-use behavior?

    On my main tank:

    • Running SS, so I'm essentially damaged capped as it is. I'm running perma-Rage (with it doubled 50% of the time). So reds do jack for me, and I'm hitting regularly so yellows aren't really doing anything either (save on the few occasion's I'm blinded). My occasional misses are rolls that are going to be misses regardless.
    • I'm defense capped and push into the mid-to-upper 50's when fully saturated with enemies. Save the occasional psi-heavy mob, purples don't do much for me. Nor do oranges. On the rare occasions I actually could use a green, I take one.
    • I'm a tank. Most of the mez that can actually affect me won't be ameliorated by breakfrees.
    • I'm built to be ridiculously Endurance-efficient. So I only really need blues in VERY protracted fights where I'm essentially pseudoscrapping. The occasional End-drain mob will send me to a blue when necessary.
    • I haven't done a Hami raid in a while.
    • Edens are few and far between.
So that leaves me with...what? Ultimates? I'm ALREADY nigh-unkillable and can pretty much beat down whatever I like in the game.

Soft-capping def allows you to pull crazy tricks like solo-pulling aggro from multiple mobs on a squishy and standing a better than even chance of surviving the alpha strike because the enemy's chances to hit you are totally floored.

    It's a Dell Inspiron 531.

Don't know how to tell if it's a mini tower or slimline. Thing stands 14” tall and 6.75” wide.

Power supply says max 300 watts. Never been replaced.

I don't understand why newchem would say increasing memory is useless. My understanding is that the first thing to ever do to improve a computer's performance is to increase memory.
    Slimline:

    Minitower:

Slimlines tend to have their drives mounted vertically. |

Towers tend to have their drives mounted horizontally. ---

    UN. UN-wombing!

The other isn't normally celebrated. Except if you're an OB/GYN on a cash pay instead of insurance copay.

Actually, replies DO boost your post count. Or I'd probably only have a couple hundred posts.

I'd like to upgrade it a bit and see if she can play on her machine. Please DO NOT try and sell me a new computer! I know this one isn't a gaming rig, and it's a few years old, but I can't shell out a few hundred dollars for a new one.

It's a DELL with an AMD SemPron Processor LE-1250
It has a built-in graphics “card”: NVIDA GeForce 6150se nForce 430
    2 GB of RAM

Obviously the first place to start is the RAM. I just bought another 2 GB on eBay for $20.

There is a video card slot, a PCI express 16 channel.

    So MY QUESTION IS:

Can someone recommend a halfway decent video card that I cal plug into this slot? I'm NOT looking for cutting edge or latest model, I'm looking for something that's one or two generations old that I can pick up cheap but which will allow this machine to run CoH at an acceptable frame rate. (yeah yeah... I know... depends on your definition of the word “acceptable”... whatever). I know the processor is rather crappy, so I don't need something that's soooo much better it's like putting a $10,000 stereo into a $300 junker car. Ya know?

    Any suggestions?

    1. Can you get me the exact model name AND number of the machine? Inspiron, Optiplex, etc.
    2. To your knowledge, has the power supply in said machine ever been replaced?
I'd figure Father's advice about a GT430 or so would probably be the most economical. I just want to make sure you aren't going to stress your power supply.
  23. Pretty much what Local Man said.

If you can get a decent amount of Ranged to offset enemies who refuse to close, and a decent amount of S/L or Melee to keep you upright until your controls take hold, you're good.

And, for the unusual circumstances where even that isn't sufficient, this is where Incarnates comes in.

You're still assuming that the devs would give us some sort of unprecedented access to the code and the game structure within the piggs to understand how these assets work. Something they've been very loathe to do to date.
