Going to be slaving away in a convention booth that day.
Yeah, going to a con and getting paid for it SUUUUUCKS!

Okay, second time around. For some reason these posts keep not going through when I hit POST.
ATI has release the next iteration of their Catalyst drivers. Version 10.6.
I don't actually own an ATI card, but I figured that people with graphics issues with 10.4 and 10.5 might like to try these.

Quote:Was about to post a boisterous "HELL NO!" So thank you for reminding me of this (don't play POTCO as much as I used to and had forgotten).Pirates of the Caribbean online (Yeah a Disney game, marketed for kids) allows you to gamble on games of poker with in game cash. So I see no legal reason for us not to be able to.
However, the idea was an inf sink. If a large ungoverned "pot" isn't an inf sink. It's just playing the shell game with who has and doesn't have it and not destroying any. -
I've never had good luck with trusting target_enemy_next.
I've had cases where I'm surrounded by enemies in an outdoor map and TEN selects an enemy up the street in a mob I haven't gotten to yet.

I've taken to binding my L key to target_enemy_near and using that instead. -

Hum.. does CoX use this version of OpenGL? If so I hope it will fix the constant crashing I'm experiencing with all the previous drivers. I tried all the fixed in the "Win7/vista driver stop responding" thread and still have the same crash. I'm at a point i'm thinking of buying an ATI card just to get that bug out of my way LOL
IIRC, all the Ultra Mode stuff is OGL3. That's why I downloaded a beta copy of the 197 (197.44) drivers a while back. I saw a modest performance boost over the 197.45.
However, I'm currently seeing more cggl.dll related crashes with the beta drivers. Sometimes less than a minute after logging into the game. Hopefully the WHQL stuff will be less tetchy about that. -
For those who weren't aware, nVidia has released a new set of WHQL drivers based on their 200 series.
I'll be testing these out over the next couple days. However, since they're WHQL, most of the really rough "Hey! I'm a guinea pig!" stuff should already be hammered out.

Quote:This. My opinion: the amount of psi defense or resist that you can get, when starting from zero, is really pathetic. Instead, build on your strength and get set bonuses to boost your regeneration. My invuln has +300% regen and you can do this cheap, since regen is the first bonus. Two from this set, two from that set, etc.
Finding pure psi damage in the game is actually fairly uncommon. Bumping your other defenses will help mitigate more mixed-psi damage than the pitiful amounts of resistance from these sets will. Additionally, it won't gimp your build. -

There's actually quite a few around.Quote:Unfortunately never heard of Microcenter.
Here's a link to their Store Location list.
You can also buy online too.
And damn that's cheap! I'm paid up through next year, but still...

Quote:Where are you at (generally)? I know Frys' carries 30 and 60 day cards. But if you're in Freeinzmynadsoff, AK up by Prudhoe Bay, that may not be helpful.Hey there.
Does anyone know any major store chains that sell the $30 sixty-day time cards (as opposed to the $20 thirty-day time cards)? I have been looking for a number of weeks now, and the only ones I've come across are the 30-day cards. Anyone know where to find the 60-day cards?
Also, as said, Spamazon.com carries them as well. -
Quote:If you are having problems maintaining endurance, do what everyone else does with every other "armor" set out there. Slot endred in your attacks. You have no reason to assume that you can slot an acc, three damage and two recharges in everything, stack Hasten (three slotted) atop that, and throw attacks like a caffiene fiend OD'ing on speed forever and a day.Hello everyone.
I figured that I would write a short suggestion or request for the power invulnerability, I've noticed through the years that this power has been lacking in the endurance ability, and I know with good slotting you can keep that from happening. But still for people who never has the money to dedicate their time to enhance it properly I was wondering if there's a way to fix the endurance drain that comes from using this ability. I mean you can play as a Willpower or Rock or something like that for your tank or scrapper that has connections to invulnerability. I mean I love this power, it's one of the original powersets to the game, and I can never replace it with anything else but. I still would love to see some improvement to this power.
Thanks for listening to my rant and request
Your various "armor" toggles are a pittance for endurance by comparison to the endurance eaten by your attacks.
In short, even though you don't want to hear "slot things appropriately or put up with "down time" when you run out of endurance", that's the correct answer to your complaint. -
Hyperstrike's weekly gloat.

Yes! Again, we came. We saw. We even heard (Clamor!). Then we melted her scrawny butt down for scrap metal!
We had another successful run again this weekend. My apologies to BLA for making room for another Fire/Rad. I'll try to make it up to you.

One Sister Psyche down and out!
As you can see, I've modded one of my costume slots to provide a nice, bright, easily visible costume for people to use. It worked out fairly well. We didn't QUITE make the time limit set. But that was mostly because we were taking things fairly easily during the initial missions.
Also, my zone load times are positively ATROCIOUS at times with my 4G wireless service. I need to put in a trouble ticket for my local tower.
All in all though, we had a nice smooth run. We had one guy who didn't quite get the meaning of "stay safe" in one mission and decided to jump the boss mob all by his lonesome. But worry not! We scraped him up, stuck him in a bread mold, and cooked him back into some semblance of shape.

Our intrepid doers of derring-do this week were:
- Ashlar (Fire/Rad...DUH!)
- Zorinna (Fire/Rad...DOUBLE DUH!)
- Scorched Remains (Fire..OH YOU GET THE IDEA!)
- Vortex Core
- Hot.Stuff
- Gamma-Pyre Dan
- Greased Wheels
- Zero Decay

And I have good news. I wasn't sure I was going to make it next week or if I was going to be on a plane to Atlanta to drive a truck full of product and booth supplies back to Columbus.
Well. Now I know. My stuff will be waiting on me in Columbus. So I'll definitely be there for Fire/Rads next week.
The week after, I may be a BIT toasty from the con. But, barring something dumb (like passing out), I'll be there.
Again, I'd like to thank everyone again for coming out. As always, it's a blast (pun most intentional)! -

If anyone's putting together a concerted effort to team up and do nukes, let me know.

One other thing. More in the nature of friendly advice Forget about reloading Limewire. Calling it a potential trojan and a portal for system infection through downloads is being kind...
-
Quote:Okay, you're probably looking at an OS reload at this point.Okay just downloaded both and my PC won't let me open them, looks like its a PC problem as absolutly no shortcut or download is being opened, limewire, cox, itunes, nadda.
Where do I go from here? I really appreciate the help btw.
You COULD try to simply delouse the PC. But that takes an inordinate amount of time and there's always the possibilities that:
- You'll miss something and wind up at this point again in a couple days/weeks/months.
- The OS install may be too badly damaged by this point to be fixable.
Does this suck? Not to put TOO fine a point on it? HELL YEAH.
HOWEVER, I've found that it's infinitely preferable to hours and hours spent rooting around in the system only to find out you have to reinstall anyhow.
My time is worth a lot to me. So I prefer not to waste it.
One thing you might want to try, if you can still burn ISO files to CD.
Take some time and run a Memtest disk. Just to make sure you don't have any "marginal" memory modules in the system.
Download the ISO from the page above and burn it to CD.
Boot from that CD and let it run for a while (preferably during a time it is convenient to just walk away from the computer). It should catch any issues with bad memory or unstable memory controllers.
Also, before you wipe the system, back up anything you want to keep off the system and set it aside.
DO NOT RELOAD THAT STUFF OR EVEN RECONNECT THE BACKUP DRIVE UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE INSTALLED AND UPDATED AN ANTIVIRUS PACKAGE!!!
Sorry to go all psychotic with the huge, colored text. But I've had people pull stuff from old systems in the past and reload it even BEFORE loading antivirus packages and reinfect a brand new install.

∞
Ideally, you should load all programs from CD/DVD or fresh downloads off the internet (including AV) after the reinstall.
Hopefully, with a fresh install, you'll wind up with a more stable system that'll actually, y'know, work right.

Quote:Hey. Just figured I could give you something that's a bit more understandable than "this little bit interacts with that little bit to produce these other little bits when the *insert five pages of technobabble* and then everything blows up and your computer dies in flames."Dude, don't give me analogies.. I use them every day at work, I use car analogies myself
This week I'm on holidays so I don't need to be remind of work.. People, thanks for the ideas. Originally I was asking for advice, not schooling LOL
It's like they say..doctors make the worse patients! nuff said -
Quote:Let's go with a building analogy. It just doesn't make sense that a big patch would cause this kind of trouble.
Let's say you lay a foundation for a house. It's good for maybe a REALLY big house. 2-3 stories. Maybe, if you wanna push your luck, 4.
Now what happens when someone tears up that house and builds a 70-story skyscraper instead. Do you expect that foundation to be in ANY way suitable? Do you expect the original plumbing setup to be able to handle the new load (pun intended)? How about the original electrical fittings?
Pretty much ANY software has stability/compatibility issues if left long enough. Sooner or later you come across something the original programmer never thought about, and/or just flat-out didn't exist at the time, that just causes stuff to wig out on you.
And patching. You're patching old code to fix it. But what other effects do those patches have? Do they interact with other portions of the code in unexpected ways? Patch one thing, break 6 more?
This kind of thing is distressingly normal, unfortunately. And fixes are usually both non-intuitive and slow in coming (as they have to go in and tear sections apart to figure out what's going on). -
Quote:AVG is his AV (or should be). It's possible his AV program has crashed too. Also, something odd: it seems you have AVG and Norton and Zone Alarm all running and yet a HijackThis analyzer I used said you didn't have any active anti-virus scanner running.
Norton is actually the Ghost system backup tool running in the background.
ZA isn't an AV, merely running independently as a system firewall and app controller. -
Quote:I uninstalled it completely, and now everytime I try to instal it it just comes up with the same error message </3
I really have no clue where the problem is, I tried hijackthis but when I did it on CoX the error message came up lol...
Jas, we're not asking you to tell us HijackThis works. We're asking you for your HijackThis log. To be posted here, in the forum, in this thread.
Until we can get that, and maybe the output of CoH Helper, we can't do more than make guesses as to what your problem is. -
Quote:Are you familiar with the term "canary in a coal mine"?Wont let me re-install either just the same error message, I erased anything to do with CoX from my PC at this point, and now nothing I do will allow me to re-install, I've checked if its a problem with my PC, but absolutly NOTHING else seems to cause any problems?
Miners used to use canaries in cages as indicators for buildup of gasses that are toxic/explosive.
Because the canary has a lower body mass and a higher metabolic rate than a human, levels that are lethal to use kill them first.
If the canary's alive and singing, you're good. If Tweety keels over dead, GET THE *BLEEP!* OUT!
Simply because nothing else on your system is causing (or seeming to cause) a problem doesn't mean something's not wrong with your system. And it may just be that CoH is stressing the things that are being problematic.
If CoH is crashing reliably, refusing to run, etc. Sure, that could just be CoH's fault.
If it's flat out REFUSING TO INSTALL, something else is going on with your system. -
Paste them into separate posts in this thread. Separate posts tends to work better because you avoid the "wall of text" appearance, and you also avoid getting your post truncated for being too long.
-
Quote:At this point, I'd probably rip it out and reinstall.nothings working when I deleted the checksum files it actually deleted my test, EU and NA updaters lol, and now when I try to download the client from the website I get the error message again.
Yeah. I know. A 3GB DL is no fun. -
Bloom? What bloom?

Good job Kid.Quote:Great raid, everybody! Villainside next week. We'll try to plow through the last bloom from now on whenever we get enough chem nukes in the zone. Thank you everyone for coming. ^_^ -
