Quote:What makes you think that, if there IS evidence, it's solid enough to act upon?Wentworth's is a business that deals exclusively in items used to make superhumans (i.e. the most dangerous things in the world) more powerful. It would necessarily be the most heavily scrutinized and regulated business in the history of human endeavor. This is in a world with people who can read minds, see through walls, predict the future, etc. It's utterly absurd to think there could be an open pipeline of goods flowing through Went's to and from the Rogue Islands without anyone knowing about it. Once discovered, the company would be shut down, permanently, no saving throw. (Not necessarily by the government -- what do you think e.g. Manticore would do if he had solid evidence Went's was dirty?)
In an electronic auction house, do you KNOW who and what you're dealing with?Quote:In order for this state of affairs to persist, it must be the case that Wentworth's is openly corrupt and is being protected by the government -- which is simultaneously refusing to recognize the Rogue Isles, embargoing and giving support to the Phalanx's private war against such, etc. Which makes no sense. It doesn't make much sense that heroes would knowingly market their Weapons Of Mass Destruction components through a company known to be doing business with superhuman terrorists, either, but the average player doesn't give a fig for such trifles as world consistency.
Only in very general terms.
Is there the possibility that the things you're bidding on could be stolen or otherwise ill-gotten?
YEP!
Take a look at EBay.
A couple years back I bought a laptop off EBay. When I tried to get the laptop serviced, I found out that it was stolen and was forced to surrender it to the police.
EBay provided no relief. Nor would the seller. I sued the seller, won, and STILL didn't get my money back.
I've provided my evidence to other people who were looking to use EBay.
Yet many of them still did. And thousands of people use EBay every day.
So how, EXACTLY is WW/BM dealings any different? -
Quote:Which means approximately nothing. Not only did I pass my economics class in HS with flying colors, I was also the top student in the class.
In a class of one, you always graduate "at the top".
What also is lacking here is an idea of the actual curriculum of the class, how it was taught, how it was graded, how grades were or could be bumped, and if (and how) the grading was curved.
We also have no idea of your real age, so we have no idea how much time has passed since your high school class and what you've forgotten.
Plus there's the fact that it's terribly easy to type something that isn't true.
I'm not saying you're lying. Merely pointing at the elephant in the corner.
What I'm saying (and what Geko was probably implying) is that your protestations of cognizance of all the issues falls flat in light of your actual responses. -

Okay, was REALLY late getting back from Origins today.
Got back on-time for Fire/Rads, but was VERY burnt out (6 days into a 4 day con? Yeah!)
Anyhoo, we had 9 people show for Fire/Rads tonight. Rather than kick one of them to the curb, I opted to sit out of the buttkickery tonight and catch up on my sleep.
Thanks for being understanding guys. And lemme know how it went! -

One thing you're almost definitely going to see.
A decrease in ultra-high-priced supplies.
You know what I'm talking about. You see # of something for sale. And the last 5 were all 5-20 million. You bid 21-60 million, then try 100 million and it just doesn't sell.
You have some people who've put stuff in for ridiculous prices and just LEFT it there. These people will get all of that auto-refunded.
All the extreme AFK marketing will take an initial hit because of this. -
I always recommend uninstalling the old drivers first. Less chance of dll hell from new stuff failing to overwrite old.
-
Additionally, try upgrading to the 257.21 drivers. You're on the older 197.45's.

Excellent time on the Citadel tonight.
And yes. AMx7 is somewhat less fun in those damn caves...

Still, Vandal choked to death. Poor slob!
I'd like to thank Riches for taking over leadership last night. I've got about six-hundred-gazillion things running through that lump of dead meat I'm foisting off as my brain. Convention season is upon me and I'm finding my luck is as usual (see "If it wasn't for bad luck"). $400 brake repair 3 days before the con...
Needless to say I'm glad I wasn't leading. It'd have been a mess.
I'd like to thank everyone who showed tonight.
- Zorinna
- Vortex Core
- Kaylee Foxtrot
- Duskchar
- Helon
- Riches
- Greased Wheels
And as if someone was trying to tell me something. I got a drop of a Pet +Defense Aura proc.
Loads of fun. Hopefully I'll be back, relaxed, and rested for next week.
If not, I'll post as soon as I stop bouncing off whatever rubber room they chuck me into.

On a plus note. Went from 20 million to 340 million on one of my Fire/Rads tonight and from 240 to 450 million on my other. What a difference roughly 400 little merits can make!

Part of Paragon's issues with the gaming cons is their somewhat...last minute attitude about showing up.
A month or two before GenCon/DragonCon is NOT the time to decide you want to go as an exhibitor.
So we get a bunch of costal comic cons that get some loving.
<BuzzkillVoice>Huzzah...</>
Because everyone who plays CoH is a comic book fan living on the left or right coast. Demographics show that NOBODY reads comics or plays CoH in the country's interior. They're all savages who thump bibles, drink nasty stuff like Schlitz and Hamms beer and play CO when they're feeling REALLY masochistic. -

Quote:Betting some of it is the OGL3 support.Something else, too, but I'm not sure how to describe it, or exactly why it's changed.
No problem. Glad people are getting good results from them. I know I am. -
Here's a fairly good place to start.
It's not cheap though. On the flipside, it's not a "cheap" laptop either.
If you don't particularly care to buy off Newegg, or don't care for the form-factor of the Asus I've linked to (or don't want to buy Asus), use the general specs as a guideline. -
Excellent run again Kid. Thanks for letting yourself be overridden.
I have never seen Hamidon's health bar jump LEFT quite that fast before. =)
Unfortunately I won't be here for the hero raid next week. Origins. Hope to see you on the next redside raid though. -

Congratulations.
I just hit my 2 year badge last night.
One of the guys I game with regularly couldn't believe I was only 2 years though. Thought I'd been in-game even longer.
