Quote:Oh you poor, neutered *******! I will pray for you...People keep going on about Expendables because "They are MEN." I'm choosing Scott Pilgrim because "I am AWESOME". 'Course, my girlfriend just confided in me her extreme love of Julia Roberts, so not really sure. Maybe Eat Pray Love is going to get a whirl. O.o

Quote:Okey doke. Had nobody on Justice (just a brute and a stalker). Had a spare tank over on Protector (Ice/Ice oddly enough).Hi all,
Having just finished July's TTJ it's time to start looking towards August and our next Power Set highlight event. August 10th's TTJ will be highlighting the Ice Power sets, Armor and Melee, and concepts and Power Customizations that fit into this catagoy.
As always all Tanks are welcome regardless of level and Power Sets. This event will have a "Freeze" theme.
More info as I work out the particulars.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, please post them here or PM me.
Take care all, see ya' soon!
He's now transferred to Justice. -
Quote:No. Explosions and hyperviolence have their place.Of the cast, there are only 3 people there that I would call actors. There are 2 people there that can't act at all that I have seen. 1 person I know nothing about, and 3 people that are action stars. Their films are fun with often no more substance than a twinkie.
Commenting on explosions and violence is the EXACT reason you people complain about Michael Bay. That is all his fiilms are. That's not manly, that's not good cinema. This movie is the twinkie.
The problem with Mr. Bay is that he has no idea where the place is, and couldn't find it with a map and a guide who knows the way. -
Quote:SHOULD be okay, BUT (and there's always a "but"), to be on the safe side, I'd uninstall the drivers and reinstall after the new card is in.Nah heh I am sure I will be fine, I used to keep up with this stuff constantly until after years of doing it I just figured out it was depressing me, since I couldn't get what I wanted when I wanted it.
Now I usually just look stuff up when I can finally make some purchases. Should be delivered later today.
Hmm.... I wouldn't need to reinstall drivers at all, would I... I already have the latest installed for my 8800 GTS 512, unless you think I should. -
Okay a 5730 will do "okay".
HOWEVER, this is a laptop. A not-very-upgradeable computer. As such, you want to maximize the performance for every dollar you spend.
As such, buying Alienware is NOT the way to go. That's just saying "more money than sense".
For the 2+ Grand you spend on an Alienware laptop, you could buy a equivallent (and in some aspects, superior) machine from HP/Asus/Acer for $1400-1600.
Take a look at HP's ENVY line if you want to buy from a major name. With upgrades to the screen, CPU, memory, etc, you can come in right around $2000 and will make the Alienware machine look sick.
Acer's systems are quite nice too, however the models sporting 5850's have some problems with their Broadcom wireless cards (though it's relatively trivial and inexpensive to replace that). -
Quote:If power requirements are a bit high for you and you want to stick with nVidia, look at the GTX 460 instead. Not quite as powerful, but still a very decent card. Thanks, the power requirements are getting kind of ridiculous for these cards. I can't imagine what people do to run triple SLI setups.
And what do people who run triple-SLI do? Buy 1500W PSUs and pray to God they don't blow a breaker. -
Quote:Sometimes, if you're at a certain camera angle, you'll accidentally float these pieces. My Treaded and Grated Ramps now float a bit off the floor (the same as the thickness of the ramp material) and so rise to a point above the height of platforms that I would have sworn they were flush to the last time I checked.
Is this a new issue, or am I just unobservant?
Also, if you're moving them just a little, it's possible to float them on top of themselves like you can do with safes and lights. -
Expendables.
Why? Because I still have testosterone in my system!
Who wants to see one scrawny dork get beat on for two hours when you could spend the same time watching 8-9 guys blow **** up, lay the smack down, and generally kill everything in sight?
And to all the "guys" going to see the scrawny dork first.
GET YOUR PAIR OF *AHEM* OUT OF THE PURSE!

I hate to say it but:

Try not to get me too wet while you sob.
Okay! We took our first stab at an ITF tonight. We had 5 people heading into Cimerora after we split into high and low teams. We picked up a tank, a blaster and, believe it or not, another fire/rad.
Mission 1 went pretty much flawlessly.
Mission 2 was a bit more difficult, as we were not watching our AoEs real well and were popping the crystals and dying. All in all though we ran the mission "kill em all" and didn't have too many issues. Nothing we couldn't recover from.
Mission 3 and lag hill. We had a bit of lag, but nothing horrendous. I was pleasantly surprised. We just marched up the hill, burning and nuking everything in sight. We had a couple of "aw crud" moments fighting the AVs, but nothing we couldn't hack. We hit the console last and had it down to a sliver before the 3rd wave of robots overwhelmed us. So we hit the hospital, came back and just eradicated them.
Mission 4: Again, we just marched right along, killing everything in our path. Worked real good for us. We cleared the area around Rommy and then faceplanted under a hail of nictus spawns.
I tried to get a bit more creative and got bit on our second run too.
On our third, we all dropped Rad Infection and went to town (I was also making liberal use of Envenomed Dagger). Deaths were had mostly all around on the last run, but spaced out so that it wasn't half the team wiping.
In the end...

So, while it was no master run, we did quite well. We were running the mish +2, which can be hard even on well-built teams.
I went into tonight half a bar from 37 and came out 39-1/2.
Good job to BOTH teams tonight!
As always, more screenshots HERE. -

Quote:I would love to come to this Monday's event. I thought I read in one of the posts yo like the character to be at least level 12 or so. Is that correct? Hope to be able to join in the fyn. My rads name would be Sun Stryke if you need that.
Level 12 makes it easier to run taskforces. The TFs pay off well (especially for low-level characters), and you get the merit rewards at the end.
However, if you show up with a lower-level toon, we aren't going to turn you away. -
Okay, been back from Indy for about 6 hours now. Unfortunately, got shanghaied into helping the female parental unit do some shopping.
I'm about to faceplant for a couple hours so I'm not going "Zzzzz-leeeroyyyyyyy-zzzzzzzz"
Haven't thought about what we can burn and nuke tonight. I'm open to suggestions. -
Devote an extra pair of slots to Swift as well. By itself, it won't help a LOT, but, in combination with the GOTA +run speeds you won't feel as if you're wading uphill through cold, chest-deep molasses.

Aw no fair! Stuck here at GenCon!

I had room for Jello too! -
Okay. Busiest servers.
Freedom.
Virtue.
Display is now last server played on, then server load (not population) in ascending order.
As to merges. No.
Some people prefer to solo.
Some prefer lightly populated, lag-free servers.
Some prefer the community of a particular server.
Merges would cause massive problems due to unique-to-server naming for characters and supergroups.
There's a host of other reasons, but I'm thumb-typing on my crackberry.
*Now repaired from a real computer.* -
Quote:Please don't think I'm being obtuse here. I'm not. But if you're looking to buy something that'll be relevant in 2016, buy in 2016.Nope, not at all.
What really sold me on the board is that fact that it comes with two newer technologies, USB3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s. I expect over the course of the next 5 to 7 years I'll get some HDs or other devices that can take advantage of these.
My purpose is to have something that will be useful and relevant come 2016.
It does have the right kinds of connectors.
Thank you for your input.
The board's we're talking about will be out of production in another year or so. And off support shortly after that.
If you're looking for SATA3 and USB3, same board, but the E variant.
Wondering why it didn't show up in my search earlier...I'd have recommended it if I had (and it's cheaper than the original version...
With standard magnetic drives, you're nowhere near sustained output for USB2. An SSD can do it, optimally. But throughput does fall off. Yes, you CAN saturate USB2 with disk cache. Big deal. A few seconds until the caches are depleted.
Buying to "future proof" yourself for six years just doesn't work. The technical term is "pipe dream".
Will the system still work well in six years? Sure! But it's highly likely that low-end and cheap midrange systems of the day will literally suck the doors off it.
Buy as much headroom in your system as you can afford based on your requirements NOW. That means CPU, memory, and drivespace. Peripheral technologies like SATA3 and USB3 still come under the heading of "nice, but still a gimmick". -
Okay, had a good week again this week.
Nine people showed.
- Zero Decay
- SKY9r
- 'xyNetiK
- Wild West Pest
- Vortex Core
- Greased Wheels
- Radical Burner
- Scorched Remains
- Zorinna
The second team ran the Posi and finished in about an hour and a half.
My team started the Vanguard intro arc. We got all the way up to the Rikti bombing mission at +1x8 (and were literally tearing things apart). Then real life intervened and I had to cut it short. No screenies, no nada.
GAH! NEED MY SCREENSHOTS!
Well, I'll see all you guys next week (hopefully). -

Motherboard: Are you planning on triple-card Crossfire/SLI'ing?
Note: Not with a 500W PSU you ain't!
Suggestion: Don't waste money on an triple SLI/Crossfire board. There are boards better suited to your purposes that can be got cheaper.
As already noted, don't waste time, money, or space on 6x1GB memory modules. Go with 3x2GB modules. Easier to keep tight timings, and leaves room for expansion if you really need it. It'll save you about $20 too. Plus the 3x2GB kit is free shipping. Another $3 saved.
Link to 3x2GB kit of the same memory you had.
CPU is fine if you're staying i7-9** series.
You may have to check that your 500W PSU has the proper connectors for your choice of video cards. If you don't have 1-2 6 or 8 pin PCI-E connectors, you're going to need a PSU too (and don't trust "adaptors" to other plugs).
Honestly, while you MIGHT see a slight drop in performance, I'd be more inclined to go i7-8** series with dual-channel (rather than triple-channel) memory.
Boards are between 1/2 and 3/4 of the price. An 8GB 2x4GB kit costs just a little more than the 6GB 3x2GB kit, and you can pick up a CPU that's a smidge faster for about the same price or slightly less.
I could put together a system:
Board
Highly overclockable CPU
Memory
It comes out $20 over what you have now.
If you stick with the non-OC'able i7-870 chip, the price drops $40. -
Quote:Trust you to find a way to get GW and SP and "rack" in the same sentence.I've might have seen custom CoH/CoV graphics/art painted on a case but nothing along the line of a Atlas City Hall case or an Arachnos Flyer case.
Or a Ghost Widow or a Sister Psyche rack mount.

Okay first off. DO NOT EVER use a link given to you through e-mail to access the PlayNC site.
Second, if you did, and tried to log into the PlayNC account, of COURSE you aren't going to get in. On the "bright side", a bunch of thieves have now harvested your account information for you!

You want to go to:
https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/plaync_login.pl
And try to log in.
If you can get in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY. Don't simply give it the same password with a couple extra letters. Completely new password. PERIOD.
If you cannot get in to your PlayNC account, you're going to have to call NCSoft support. Have the number of the credit card you initially registered the account to handy. They'll want to use that as a form of verification. Also if you have your global, and know the name of a couple toons on the account and which servers they reside on.

I'd post the marketing seal, but I think it's on my machine at work and I don't sit in front of that box until the middle of next week.
