Quote:Right like it would take months to organize a name wipe... /em rolleyes
Quote:not saying it is necassary but your acting like its backbreaking dev work...
In some, you can simply kill things out with:
Code:delete FIELD(S) from TABLE where CRITERIA
So it's not the matter of taking a couple minutes to come up with a basic SQL query and running it on the live servers in an afternoon.
It has to be tested to make sure the query is doing what's intended, and that the underlying application can HANDLE something like this.
This takes dev/programmer time.
This takes testing time.
And since these people are getting paid to work, time = money. So yeah, it costs money.
Additionally, you're diverting resources towards this and away from other projects. -
You also forgot "There is no demonstrable way to prove the existence of a "naming problem" in any relevant context. As "I can't get the name I want, someone already took it" is a design feature, not a flaw."

Quote:Short Answer: NOWill there be another wipe so people can have names to use? It's so crazy that the dead realms have all the good names reserved still and yet theyre never active.
Anyone know if they're working on a way to improve this? It's getting very limited for creations and imagination. Alot of us are already using capital I as lowercase L to bypass this.
Slightly Longer Answer: The devs have NO plans to do this again.
Even Longer Answer:
- This thread is nothing new. It's simply a retreat of the same basic idea that's been pushed in dozens (or hundreds) of threads in the last few years. Beating the devs and other players over the head with the issue on a constant basis does very VERY little to overcome the annoyance with such repetitive memes, and hardens resistance to addressing the idea.
- Nobody knows how many names this would free up
- Nobody has any guarantees about the "quality" of the names that would be freed up.
- There's ZERO demonstrable way to determine if such a purge happens since someone getting a freed name would be no different than someone getting a name that hadn't been used previously. So, when the names certain players ACTUALLY want are STILL not available, they're going to gripe for ever-broader name purges.
- There's no indication that the tool they used to free up names last time would work again. Possibly necessitating the development of such a tool. This costs both developer time and money. Money that could be spent elsewhere in the game. Bringing new features and content.
- There's a schism in the player-base over this issue. While many players might like something like this, many players simply DON'T WANT IT. For myriad reasons, some of which are listed above.
-
There's also the fact that, long term vets already start out with a power that can "twink" their ultra-low level earnings.
Inner Inspiration.
A level 1 character can produce inspirations that sell for tens and hundreds of thousands of Inf. Every 30 minutes.
So acquiring "seed capital" is about as tough as breathing.
Hell, breathing might be tougher.
Once you're past the first couple million, it's all gravy. -

Some of us characters (lots of them) on ALL the servers.
So an additional tab only steals screen real estate. -
Well, if you want a REALLY expensive hobby. You could go for liquid fluorinert full-immersion cooling.
Anyhoo, your case is a total of 9.3 inches (236mm) deep.
Allowing for motherboard standoffs, motherboard thickness, mounting bracket, and generous space on the back of the motherboard tray, you should be good for that cooler at 159mm in height.
Thermaltake's own site (on the FAQ tab) says the case will fit coolers no larger than 163mm. -
Belated congrats on surviving to celebrate the anniversary of your whelping yet again!

Thanks for the clarification Arcana.

Quote:Because your control is not always an instantaneous thing.I don't really see the need for defense on a controller. Look at all the tools you have..especially with the "new" Bonfire.
Because you occasionally stumble upon groups of groups that exceed the maximum effects for your control.
Sometimes you miss.
Sometimes, due to lag, mobs simul-alpha you before the control takes effect.
Defense helps ameliorate this.
My big issue with this build is that the endurance consumption os absolutely through the roof. Without having AM up ALL THE TIME, you're actually losing endurance JUST STANDING THERE. And, even inside of AM, you can barely attack without slurping down the entirety of your blue bar.
Maybe for someone operating on a team with massive endurance buffs (like a Fire/Rad team), this wouldn't be so bad. But solo, this thing's dancing on a razor's edge and constantly chugging blues. -
Quote:This is one feat I am trying to achieve on a single character, specifically my main. Its not something I grind on a daily basis but it is a goal I work toward. I am sure there are people that have managed to do this. I estimate it would take about 60 Very rares (I haven't sat down and counted) or maybe even 100 or in terms of Emp merits that would be nearly 3,000 at 30 merits per Very Rare.
Would be cool there was a badge associated with this but since more and more abilities are added would be hard to keep track. Maybe if they added a badge for having both very rares in a single tree's power. (IE one for musculature, one for cardiac, etc)
I am sure some people would view this as insanity the same way I view doing a man build or a brawl build to level 50 solo insanity.
So is anyone else going for this? How far along are you? I would say for myself I am maybe 15-20% of the way.
I think we need to take Ultimus out and get him laid... -
Worst thing about it, is that it's an elaborate hoax.

Quote:Speaking as an SS newbie, how does double stacking Rage work? I assumed that would give you a perma damage boost at the cost of a small def debuff.
Is it so bad that it cripples you if it drops in mid-battle? Wow...and I was told SS is godly on brutes.
Rage lasts for 2 minutes (120 seconds).
Base recharge is 240 seconds. MAXIMUM recharge will bring it down to 60 seco
3 Common IOs alone will bring that down to 120-122 seconds.
At the global recharge cap, it's possible to have Rage down as far as 48 seconds
Realistically, you'd have to pretty much compromise your build for global recharge above 200% (which makes Hasten effectively perma) and the Force Feedback proc can occasionally boost your recharge.
Even so, it's rather easily possible to overlap Rage for anywhere from 30-50 seconds. As such, the +ToHit and +Damage effects are doubled.
Hasten will reduce it further.
If you have a single Rage up, you'll get a damage crash where all your Secondary pool powers (Super Strength) will be severely damaged debuffed. Also, you'll experience a 20% (all kinds) defense crash and a 25% endurance crash.
You cannot mitigate the damage debuff or the endurance crash, BUT, if another instance of Rage is up you don't experience the defense crash.
Incarnate powers like Spiritual and Agility just make it "easier" to get ridiculously high caps now, without compromising your build. -
Quote:Work arounds. That assume I have enough Vet rewards to have attacks. Or am level 50. Or VIP. None of which negate the fact that I am effectively locked out of doing what I want to do for 10 seconds. Which is hit people with my SS attacks. I hate the damage crash. I have always hated the damage crash. I will always hate the damage crash. It's one of the very few things in the game I do actively hate.
Taunting is not a workaround. It's one of your powers.
Healing is not a workaround, it's usually one of your primary powers.
And NO. You are NOT "locked out". That assumes that you can't continue attacking. Note, your Tier 1 attack still generates the debuff even if only doing a point of damage at a time.
And yeah, you hate the crash. Nobody LIKES having their big, beefy damage numbers mitigated. But it's 10 seconds. Learn to cope. -

Quote:*Pulls on the Arcana-Wannabe hat*While I agree with Hyperstrike that assault isn't worth the end for your own damage, I don't know if he was joking with this line or not. Rage will not keep you near your damage cap.
Let's look at the math.
Tanker damage cap is 400% right?
300% + Base damage
IO enhancement: 100%
1st Rage Stack: 80%
2nd Rage Stack: 80%
Set +Dmg Bonuses: +?
And, depending on how crazy you get with recharge, that's Double-Rage anything from 40-100% of the duration.
So. You were saying that Rage wouldn't keep you near damage cap? Right?
Quote:I'd disagree here. If you can handle it, use it. You're a tank, so it's assumed you'll be teaming, and any +dmg for the team is good.
Quote:Right again, although not always true for the team. +Tohit can help the team (and blasters hit the magic 22% with the new snipe changes), so although you won't need it personally, it is an AoE buff, so there's that to consider.
Quote:Again, not sure if he's joking.
It's a highly situational power that provides you, personally, with minimal benefit (if you're capped, defense-wise), and if you're Doing It Right, rarely if ever gets invoked. I mean, if you need a set mule, that's one thing. But I can think of better ways to accomplish this.
What does Vengeance grant?
+ToHit (You're already spending a chunk of time double-raged)
+Damage (You're already spending a chunk of time near-capped)
+Defense (Built well, you see zero benefit from it)
The +Heal is nice, but small and single-instance.
The status protections are nicer (especially the Fear protection).
But, again, you actually have to let one of your teammates die to see any use out of it.
So I stand by my statement that there are better and more proactive things you can be doing than standing around waiting for someone to croak just so you can break off and play third-rate buffbot for the team.
Taking Veng wouldn't be sobbing over a corpse, instead it would be -Vengeance-. If I kill Lois Lane, you can bet Superman is going to fight me a bit harder than just a regular fight. This not only fits conceptual, but also once again benefits the team.
Quote:At least on itrials, you won't -ever- have to wait for someone to commit suicide. There are plenty of dead bodies from the 50+0's who are still trying to get their alpha slot. During big fights, you'll find a body drop about once a minute.
Quote:I, on regular occasion, waste vengeance because someone died before my current buff wore off.
I like a tank with leadership. The same way I like everyone having leadership.
I don't think I have a single toon without Tactics. -

Quote:It looks doable for me this time; as far as I know I'm home (20 miles north of Indy) at the time and there's not a lot going on. Unless something comes up I'll plan on being there.
Getting into anyplace near the convention center may be a bit of a challenge; lots of places will have long waits to get in. Are you planning on reserving an area Hyper? Or are we going to do a bum rush on the joint?Quote:Do you mean the "XDL Motorcycle Madness" ?

Yeah. Basically I'm going to be hitting up Champions when I get in on Tuesday. Harranguing them on Wednesday. Pestering them on Thursday. Bothering them on Friday. And bugging the living crap out of them on Saturday until our meetup.
Then I'll leave them nice tip. -

Minemineminemineminemine!
Because it's all about ME man!
They need to rename this game to MEQuest!
Yeah...that's the ticket...
Quote:I'd prefer Rage to be made utterly unstackable. How do you fly into a Rage (when your already FURIOUS, in a brutes case) then get...even more angry?
Any questions? -
Quote:They DID use the term "rebuild".Uh, Hyperstrike, I think the OP took Leadership for conceptual purposes, so it doesn't really matter if it fits in a min/max build.
They also did not, initially say they were looking to "stay" with a pure conceptual build.
In short, I was giving advice in a vacuum.
