Quote:Those still require an acc check. Choking Cloud does not. And Stun+Immob, while functionally the same as a hold is not a hold.To be honest I like Choking Cloud, in fact I like it a lot however, if like me you spend a lot of time on your fire/rad and, more to the point, a shedload of inf to get Indom Will perma, then Flashfire/Cages and cinders are always up when I need them.
Freedom:Quote:When I first dropped CC with a +rech heavy build I have to say that I didn't miss it, I'm sure if you are in fire/rad superteams then this would be a different matter, however I've not seen one of those in a long time.

Which is why I asked for clarification.Quote:Plus the OP didn't mention superteaming iirc.
Even solo it helps. Think about farming for instance. Run in, pop Cinders, FF/Cage what remains, then sit there letting Choking Cloud do it's thing while your imps monkey-slap everything to death.
From what I saw of the incarnate system in previous betas, if it still holds true, is going to make end management on high level Fire/Rads MUCH nicer.Quote:I suspect the EF 'problem', which I do normally double +endred, will be offset with the incarnate system - assuming there is an 'endred ability' come i19 (which is what the OP wanted a build for.)
If you need the mitigation, Bonfire's great for that. However in teaming situations, the uncontrollable KB field can be a VAST nuisance.Quote:Re. STF - I suspect I've done it a more times than most, our best time, back in the day, was 27:09, most of the reason I don't tend to use bonfire is due purely to my loathing of KB, it's not a logical hate of bonfire in itself, I've just teamed with bad stormies too many times.
Probably tying to keep it survivable. Currently I'm the "tank" on our little Fire/Rad superteam and even with Poo^H^H^Rock Armor, and Maneuvers, I still tend to smootch floor regularly.Quote:I suspect you have looked at my build and compaired it with your ideal, of which I am greatful, however this build was in response to the OP and therefore your vast knowledge and experience might also be well employed at the OP to both help in their request and to question the items like 'Why do you want lots of +def on a fire/rad'.
Yes. Yes they can. They're just a poorer experience for not having it.Quote:Like Choking Cloud? No - I love it, but fire/rad's can also do very well without it. -
Okay, at lower levels, I found that Ice could sometimes be difficult to play. Some of this will be greatly offset by inherent Fitness in i19. While the defense itself was nice, the occasional lucky-hit issue would mean sometimes shocking swings between "MOAR ENUMEEZ PLZ!" and "Ooh! Floor! *SMOOTCH!*"
Also, massed defense debuffs WRECK you. So watch out for the Oro Intro final mission, Cimerorans and Arachnos. If you have situations like that, eat a couple purples before charging in to minimize the chance of a debuff hitting in the first place.
Now, that said, I found that after I picked up Energy Absorption, things became MUCH easier. And counter-intuitively, they became easier as I cranked difficulty (in number of heroes) UP.
As people have said, EA is best when having 2-3 enemies in range. I've slotted for Recharge, Defense and EndMod (in that order). Right now it's recharging at about the same speed as Ice Slick so I use them as a One-Two punch. Ice Slick to keep people in range, and then EA to slurp up endurance and defense. It only becomes hairy if I get down to one opponent with a drained end bar, but that's what a few backup blues is for (rather than wasting Hibernation).
With most of my other tanks I'm relying on tools like the Energy Mastery APP to augment End Management. Even with my Stone/Dark (though he's not optimally slotted), I still have to watch it. With Ice, EA is one of the BEST tools in the game for End management on a tank. Again, the only caveat is that you need lots of enemies around. -
Quote:MG, I'm sorry about the lack of response from me. I've been kind of stupidly busy in the last few days.Hi everyone, I am looking for an issue 19 Fire/Rad Controller Team Friendly Build that focuses on Recharge, Recovery and some decent Defense. Hyperstrike or anyone else have a good build that fits these parameters ? Thanks and have a nice night.
Okay when you say Team Friendly, do you mean you're going to be playing primarily on teams or you're going to be soloing as well as teaming?
Most of my builds, currently, are primarily built solely for teaming and don't function really well outside of that (toggles out the ying yang).
Additionally, I haven't hacked my Mids to take into account inherent Fitness yet. -
Quote:Depends on what you refer to as "marketeering".I wondered to myself - I said, "Self, how much do you really need to start marketeering?"
Honestly, all you need to "start" are the 4 drops you get from the tutorial. From there, building any amount of inf is relatively idiot-proof. -

Quote:How long has Prot been raidin? It worked well for all the times before and "concerned" parties always managed to show up. Just because you cant be bothered to check the boards doesnt mean the whole leadership needs to change what theyre doin....
I'll respond to this once I've had some sleep. Right now I'm not really in any condition to respond to this civilly. -
Yep. Dissect one line from multiple messages and claim that's what I'm all about.
Never mind that I take time out of my sleep schedule between work shifts to participate in the Hami raids and that most of my Nuke-hunting time comes out of this same block of time. Nope, I have zero cause to be even mildly irritable about finding out about it at quarter-to that it's been pre-cancelled. -
Actually, no I don't.
Translation, if I am not ready to run my own raid, shut the **** up and don't try to participate in helping the current leadership make the process more hassle free for all involved by suggesting alternate methods of setting up and delineating appropriate turnout and communication for raids?Quote:If at any point, you're unhappy with the way Kid and his team make decisions, feel free to run your own raid.
Forgive me if I don't give the appropriate response it begs for. -
Quote:No. I'm not saying this weekend. I'm saying "going forward".Why bother to wait 30 minutes for people to show up when you've already announced it's canceled on the boards?
Rather than relying on a medium that obviously does not reach all the concerned parties. -
The problem become that of relying on people to regularly read and follow up on the forums. Doing it this way pretty much guarantees you're NEVER going to do it again, as only a tiny subset of players actively hit the forums.
And while I'm active on the forums, I don't always have time to follow up every thread with a post going "yeah I'll be there". Sure, I'm rather (in)famous for some of my rather (pigheaded) attempts to follow certain threads. But those were mostly because I was given time to do so. Something I don't always have the luxury of doing.
Honestly, I look for the initial announcement in the forum and then show up when it's announced. Willing to bet that this is how a lot of people play it too. Set a 30 minute cutoff. If people aren't there at half-past, call the event. It creates minimal wasted time and sets a trend for people to be timely in showing up. -
And I see this after I take the trouble to snag nukes.
Oh well.
Someone drop me a tell if a raid is actually going to go off one of these days. -
No. You start at the edge of a building and lay one down on the building so the infinity symbol is hanging partially out in the air. You lay another on top of that, etc, etc, etc. They work just like floor tiles in a base.

What I'd like to see:
Currently we have controls to turn XP earning on and off.
We have controls for choosing Inf or XP when exemped.
We have controls for turning Prestige earning on and off.
Why not have a control for choosing between normal Inf/Prestige earning and Half-Inf/Double-Prestige (or maybe 1.5x Prestige)?
Frankly, the amount of inf earned by mashing face is a joke compared to what I earn from drops and marketing. If I'm LAZY, I earn between 3 and 6 times as much just logging out for the night as I do during play. And this is on a level 50. For lower-level toons, by the time most of them hit level 12, they have between 10 and 100 million stowed and are sporting a complete set of DOs. By the time they hit 22, their Inf reserves are even higher and they're sporting a complete set of SOs or have kit-bashed a nice useful frankenslot IO setup. -
With enough warning and enough people you could place a bridge of O-portals across one of the flight paths too. That way non-flying ranged characters could have a stable mid-air platform to fire upon an oncoming ship.

<Ah-nuld> It's not a tumah!
(Technically this is true now. Since they've taken it out, it's now a "biopsy specimen".)
@Curupira : Congrats on having them catch it in time for it to be operable. Double-gratz on having the fortitude to actually go through with allowing someone to chop you open. And infini-gratz for making it through surgery.
As an added bonus, you now automatically win any "worst headache ever" contests.
Get better soon. These criminals in Paragon City are getting downright uppity without you here keeping them in line.

Not as long as Ascendant-O's. And they shouldn't kill you either. again, unlike Ascendant-O's.

If there's even a single reference to protection of glowie vampires, I'm nuking your city from orbit. Then crashing a Buick-sized asteroid into your house just for good measure...

Yup. Another successful ITF for the Fire/Rads.
Six Fire/Rads, a Stone brute, and a Rad/Kin Corrupter.
If our brute had been going any faster, he'd have impacted on Paris and caused widespread devastation.
First mish, instead of going up the back way, I decided to fight up the hill. The Nictus ambush kinda whacked everyone but our brute. But, from the SB and 6 AM's he was moving fast enough to sprint across the area with Solaris in tow. Mission successful.
Second mission, we again just marched through, killing everything in our way. Had a couple deaths due to explody cysts. But no big deal.
Third mission. We fought our way up the hill. A little lag, but nothing severe. We got to the console and proceeded to WHUP ITS ELECTRONIC HINEY! The first wave of Romulus Phalanx died with nary a whimper. Most of the second did as well. And while the third tossed us around some, we got through without a death. We then pulled both the AVs and put the flaming hammer down on them.
Final mission. We just marched up, cleared everything in front of Rommy, and then me unfortunately fat-fingering "follow" while targeted to Romulus started the assault. We had one death at this phase. We just locked debuffs on and cooked him through the nictus healing. We killed him once, then got him down halfway before he regenned up. We locked in on him again and cooked him down again. The final couple times were just adding insult to injury.
In closing, while not the fastest ITF (we weren't trying for a "speed run"), we got it done in a respectable hour and seventeen minutes. Our brute's only lament was that we were killing stuff so fast he couldn't build fury.
I'd like to thank all the people who ran with us last night.

Quote:Would be too overpowered.I hope that someday they make Granite work with the other shields and nerf it so that having it on brings you to current granite numbers, or thereabouts, with all the other shields running.
It's already pretty crazy since unalloyed psi damage is actually somewhat rare in the game. Closing the psi hole would probably cause them to "rebalance*COUGH*NERF*COUGH*" the set. -
Quote:Depends on the enemy mobs you're fighting.I'm not forgetting that with resistance you still take damage. But going from 35% defense, 90% S/L resist and 79% E/N/F/C resist to 45%+ defense with those same resists isn't that dramatic for a Stone Armor tank.
Disingenious. Of course, assuming you take X points of damage in a uniform manner seems to deprecate the need for extra defense.Quote:Again, if my math is correct in my earlier post, on average out of every 100 points of S/L damage you'd drop from taking 3 points of damage down to 1 point of damage. For every 100 points of E/N/F/C you'd drop from taking 6.3 pts of damage to 2.1 pts of damage. If I'm standing in the middle of Monster Island taking on 3 or 4 GMs solo, then yes, I'd probably want that extra 10% defense.
What you're neglecting is the fact that the extra 10% may make the difference between taking that 100 points of damage and taking no damage whatsoever. A 100% damage reduction.
Just like accolades aren't necessary. Just like IOs aren't necessary.Quote:Is it needed in most situations? Probably not.
Doesn't mean they're not nice to have, or useful.
