Note: EA is "Energy Absorption". Not "Aura".
The other really nice thing with EA is, with a bit of recharge, it also stacks VERY nicely. Allowing you to hit massive levels of defense very early on. Heck, two levels after getting EA, I cranked my Ice/Ice (BABY! TOO COLD!....Sorry! Sorry! Couldn't help myself! Firmly ingrained meme here!) tanker's diff to +1x8. The only time I've received serious spankage since was the last mission of the Ouroboros intro (shivan debuffs from hell). -

Okay, not going to dig through every set known to man, but I'm fairly certain that no set provides enhancement for Defense Debuff Resistance.
Only powers specifically tagged as providing DDR do so.
As Firey Aura is a resistance/damage set, it has NO powers that provide defense debuff.
Translation: You're SOL.
Now, is this necessarily a Bad Thing? No. You're still pumping out SCADS of damage, as well as enjoying high levels of resistance, plus one of the fastest-recharging self-heals in the game. Stacking defense on top of that, even if you do lose it to debuffs on occasion, is STILL a killer idea.
Most tanks have most or all of the trinity:
Defense > Resist > Heal
You have:
Kill them first > Defense > Resist > Heal
Having them be unable to hit you because they're already dead is better than hard-capped defense.
Having them unable to hit you because they missed due to defense is better than simply taking a fraction of the damage.
Taking a fraction of the damage is better than trying to heal it up.
Being able to heal the damage is essentially your last resort. -
Just for gits and shiggles, I logged into the beta server and took a run at the first Mender Ramiel mission with an Energy/Energy/Fire (BONFIRE BABY!) blaster (Named Boioioioioing)
Pretty much every power was max-slotted for KB.
Loads of fun and thanks to the Freem boost, was still killing stuff left and right. -
Quote:Death by BakshiI've always thought this was a bit counter-intuitive and backwards myself.
Scenario 1: You AS Fritz. He lives. His buddy George sees this go down.
George: "Oh my god, you severely wounded Fritz!" *cowers in fear*
Scenario 2: You AS Fritz. He dies.
George: "Oh my god, you killed Fritz! You dirty *******!" *blam blam blam blam blam* -
I dunno. I usually slot swift for a flier and then pack defense onto Hover. I rarely have a problem getting around. I use it as an alternative to running when going through caves.
ESPECIALLY since the speed bump it's been more than fast enough IMNSHO. Then again, it's a personal preference thing. COULD I make Hover faster? Sure. Do I feel it needs to be on the toons I've taken it for? Nope!
If I want it any faster, I go park in the train station for a while. -
Quote:I really don't like the dwarf form, it's big and ugly :/ I would consider Nova if the damage makes up the difference but other than that I was hoping Human only.... it's all about the cossie :P
Would this be a problem?
The thing is, Dwarf is a significant form of mez protection. I currently have a high level human WS and mez-tossing foes are an absolute female dog sometimes. -
Quote:I'm pretty knew to WS's, and I have a few questions as to how things work...
1) If you change form, what happens to your set bonuses?
2) Are all the powers in the main tree still usable when in other forms?
3) Is the best thing to go for on a WS set bonuses +rech?- Set bonuses remain. However, effects from ancillary power pools fade.
- No. When you change form, you have access to only the powers of that form. That said, if you pop something like Eclipse just before popping into dwarf/nova, the effects carry over.
- It depends. Now that Stamina is going to be inherent (and things like Dwarf have a mini-Stamina built in), it may be. Especially if you can perma your Eclipse.

I agree with the "Weather? *MEH!*" crowd.
I don't log in on a dreary winter evening just to see...a dreary winter evening in the game. I have enough problems with SAD making me irritable as it is. I don't need a game reinforcing it unless I get a get out of jail free card for my first homicide. And I'm only marginally joking.
Yes, there's some aspect of a bubble world with Paragon City. I honestly couldn't care less, even with extensive effort, drugs, and some highly radical brain washing techniques.
Powers, power customizations, missions, costumes, etc. GIMME GIMME GIMME!
Weather? Well, uh...how do I turn it off?
Weather that flarks with my powers? HOW THE **** DO I TURN THIS **** OFF!?!? I can't? Where's the unsubscribe button?

Quote:I just find the notion amusing that they'll be working on Inherent Fitness while half the office is zonked out on trytophan from the turkey.
"All right, we've got Stam...in...a... zzzzzzzzzz..."

Actually the tryptophan thing is a myth. You'd have to consume several hundred pounds (yes, I know we've all tried this at one time or another) to have the sort of effect we're talking about.
Mostly it has to do with the high carb content of the meal and the resulting release of insulin.
But yeah. Make the devs come in instead of enjoying a holiday with friends and family, scarfing down lots of turkey (or tofurky...(ewww) if they're vegan) and getting sloshed while watching football?
NOT the way to get the best work out of them.

Quote:Nah, it's more fun to give you lots of paper cuts everyplace then dip you in heavily salted battery acid."While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?"

I know tanks are said to be slow but sheesh!Quote:I really wanted to do Hess, but it filled up before I could get a spot.

I just hope they don't go the "Smallville" (don't show it till you absolutely have to) route.
You get this quick shot of his eyes turning neon-green *CUT TO COMMERCIAL!*
Then, back from commercial you see this crater of wreckage and he wakes up in stretched-out, ripped up clothes in the middle of BFE someplace.
That and I'm not sure how they're going to portray Banner. If they actually try to do the character justice, it could actually turn people off the show. Banner's an emotional wreck of a person and a complete freak on a leash, even before becoming the Hulk. It's really hard to make stuff like that attractive to viewers without glossing over a whole HELL of a lot of it. -

Sorry about the lateness of the post. Getting continually sidetracked here.
Okay! Another nice, kill-em-all run of Fire/Rads!
We ran several Alignment missions to start off the night. We then decided to put the smack down on a few more Praetorians.
Black Swan...goosed. Then we made Mother Mayhem scream for mommy.
All in all a very nice run tonight.

Quote:Redside or blue?Is there a thread for this? I did my morality mission, got 50 merits, how do I turn them into alingment merits, more importantly, where can I read about this? Do they put this kind of info in the threads, and by they, I mean devs.
Blue: Fort Trident in Atlas Park (The parts bin next to BOTLER)
Redside: The Crucible in Cap Au Diable (The trash can) -
I have a picture of my own.

Granted. But I wasn't speaking to these issues.

Quote:I know that Castle responded a while back, voicing an opinion that it was a bug. Still doesn't make it a bug.No, it's a bug. This was confirmed by one of the community reps. Definitely a bug.
Default lifetime for a vBulletin cookie is a 1 day logon. It CAN be changed. And I've given them the information to do so. But there may be other considerations besides simple technical feasibility (CAN this be done) of changing it on a bog-standard install, as NCSoft's version has been customized to interface with their authentication servers. -
-
Quote:Your expectations are wrong.I'd expect that it wouldn't continue to log me out, though I don't suppose that's technically required for NCsoft to stay true to their word. It does affect access, though, which is convenient enough for this argument since I'm paying for access and not getting it reliably. It's not to the severity where I don't get something at all that I pay for, which is why I'm only bumping a thread rather than climbing the ladder through the tiers of customer support.
Moreover, it behooves NCSoft to secure access to their services.
And simply because you get logged out of a WEB FORUM doesn't mean you aren't getting reliable access. Merely that you have to re-authenticate periodically. BIG difference.
Again, being logged out periodically is NOT a bug.Quote:Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I checked the Announcements section of the boards, but found no reference to this forum bug. -
