Dude, the horse is dead already. We get it, you HATE tankers the way they are right now, which is balanced towards survivability more than offense, the Stone Wall (sometimes literally) to the Brute's Mighty Glacier and the Scrapper's more Lightning Bruiser style.

That's just it though. If they're going to start flipping powers around, etc, etc. They're going to start fiddling with the entire set, trying to "rebalance it".

One is NOT enamored of the possible results of this.

Honestly, I see very VERY (VERYVERY) little use for Unstoppable on a softcapped Inv/* tank. If things break so bad that you're thinking about "popping Unstop" on a defense-capped Inv/* tank, things are VERY bad indeed and the chances of unstop making a real difference before crashing are quite slim.

Now this is just my unvarnished opinon but...

    ***ADDENDUM***

Well, thinking about it, there's one REAL useful place for it. The Apex TF. The tentacles surrounding the towers are chucking out MONDO toxic damage. Since there's no real toxic DEFENSE, Unstoppable might help there.

Maybe so. However, some people aren't really willing to risk the set and it's current levels of performance to the devs' "tender mercies".

Probably the very first thing they'd go after would be Rage, turning it into a Build Up clone, completely destroying the efficacy of the set.

Not what I meant. I meant the "run into the lava and fight him there" method.

"Lure him into the lava and keep him there while you stand on a rock" is a very similar tactic but not the same.

I was only talking about the former, not the latter.

Write a few drivers for Windows then tell me that.

Additionally, as I said, drivers are only one small portion of this.

Apple can rely on their OS being on a known platform (especially for laptops). This excises several layers of complexity and allows much tighter integration with the hardware than would otherwise be possible.

Moreover, because they know what the hardware is, they can utilize optimizations in the base OS, UI, etc that might break, malfunction, or otherwise result in instability on a slightly different hardware platform.

And, has been reported in the past, MacOS has had it's timings tweaked with an eye towards UI responsiveness, rather than overall maximum system performance.

So most UI tasks "feel" faster. Even if they're actually completing in a slower fashion.

    Sorry, but that's a lousy cop-out.

We have about a zillion sets that provide recharge boosts (including specific SINGLE IO's that provide the boost). Yet we still got an alpha slot that enhances global recharge.

There's no reason you can't have parallel tracks to enhancement.

I'd like to see more PBAOE sets that focus on end consumption rather than just whacking max damage and recharge.

I'd also like to see more sets that provide boosts to resistance (in the same manner there are sets that provide defense boosts). Right now, if you want to bump defense, you have tons and tons of options. But if you want to boost resistance, you have almost nothing outside of the random "You six-slotted, congrats, TOXIC resist" type bonuses.

I'd like to see purple sets that can overcap Acc, End, Range, etc rather than just the Dam/Rech dynamic duo.

    GIMME GIMME GIMME!
  11. Just an FYI.

I will NOT be at FNFF this week.

Friday is Christmas Eve and I'm going to be spending quality time with my extended family, destroying my sanity with christmas carols.

If you guys want to gather and put boot to backside feel free. And pray for me...

Sure. We're not ripping up lamp posts and beating enemies with them.
We're not chucking cars at people. We're not ripping people's arms off and smacking them with them.

But you give someone a nice tasty knuckle sammich and they decide to defy gravity for a few seconds (knockup). You get an "overpressure" bubble. For Foot Stomp you get pavement cracks and camera rattle. Pretty darn super-strengthy to me.

    Quote:
First, I think the set needs a sprucing up. Add a little more screen shake, and add a bit of dust and debris to the attacks. This will help make it seem stronger right off.
They actually toned back the camera rattle due to complaints from what I understand.

    Quote:
Second, let's switch around Hurl and Hand Clap. Getting Hurl earlier will let the set feel strong sooner, making it more fun to play. Further, it will add the ranged attack earlier, making it easier to fight flying foes. Hand Clap at the higher level could recieve a little buff by adding a bit of damage, if desired. Just swapping them around shouldn't affect the balance of the set at all, so I see no reason not to do this.

Hand Clap is often skipped because it scatters foes when you want them crowded around you. Thus, it should get a little buff to make it more valuable. Moving it to L35 and adding a little damage would do this, I think.
Both of these changes would pretty much necessitate nerfs to Hurl (which already has problems with End-use and long animation time). And Hand Clap is still relatively useless without any sort of damage component.

    Quote:
As I say, I don't see any downside here. Maybe I'm missing something. What do you think?
See above. The changes would necessitate nerfage. Additionally the visual changes would actually undo things the devs "fixed" earlier.

Easy. VERY tightly integrated OS and hardware platform. It allows them to squeeze the utmost in battery life out while giving the appearance of high performance (essentially the UI is tweaked so that certain functions are heavily prioritized).

You simply CANNOT do this with a Windows machine, as Windows is an actual commodity OS that's designed to run on just about any hardware you can throw its way. As such, hardware support is more generalized and less effective in this arena.
  16. One other, underhanded, thing that helps.

Seven teammates with unslotted Recall Friend.

They take their positions at the last 7 waypoints along the ski slope and you try to scream through the first few (up through the teleport gate) yourself.

Then they chain TP you, watching the End bar of the person ahead of them on the team monitor. When it dips (which is why you don't slot it), they hit TP.

It takes a bit of practice to get done. But it results in some INSANELY LOW run times.

Here's part of one of my run teams from 2008. All three of the top scores were my team.

Sometimes. On my Fire/Fire blaster, he simply wouldn't stay in the lava. I'd hit him once, he'd run away, regen the crap outta himself, run back, blast me, run away (rinse and repeat until I'm dead)...damndest thing I'd ever seen. Had not had any issues with him (other than a couple difficult pulls to the lava) prior to that. Probably the AI flaked at that point. But still.

While these are superteams, they're not STATIC teams. ANYONE who wants to chuck together a Fire/Rad is more than welcome.

the reason I am asking for rads is because I have run some of the lower lvl TFs with a full team of fire/rads and they went real quick, and I would like to do as many TFs as possible. Also 8 AMs stacked will help with the fact that I am not specced.

I would like to do this on january 10th... After all the holiday stuff is over. I need at least 7 others. Any one can join. I would just prefer rads. Is there anyone interested?

(should this be in 'player events'?)

Note: I do NOT recommend taking this tank out without LOTS of support. (And I mean LOTS.) It's soft-capped to everything! Plus some. So it's got a bit of a cushion for defense debuffs.

It's even perma-Rage outside of Hasten. 75% global recharge before Hasten.

    However:

    1. Base Accuracy before set bonuses and FA SUCK. Not even an SO's worth.
    2. It does jack squat for damage. Baseline all the way. It SHOULD hold aggro like nobody's business though...
    3. It's a massive End pig. It's idle End use is roughly 3/4 of recovery. And with no EndRed on the attacks. Get your Cardiac booster ready FAST.
    4. If you want to use FootStomp, you fall out of cap on E/N (due to taking off Hover). You could get around this with Maneuvers, and replacing the two single-aspect Def enhancers with Common EndReds. But your endurance woes remain. Bring a bunch of pocket buffers. Because the Rage and Hasten crashes will kill you.
