Quote:By definition, a "pro" (short for "Professional") is someone who gets paid to do something.I'm at the point right now I want to have a few different characters for different things but I suck at making builds so. If there are any PROS who can make a well really good build Max IO's Im looking to make a emp/dark/dark defender and a good MM. Im not sure which would be the best primary and secondary for MM so maybe help me out here? If you could contact me on skype to discuss this further would be great...

As far as I know, the only professionals are NCSoft staffers and sweatshop squatters in China. Neither of them are known for posting lots of "uber" builds.
Your best bet would be to post the build you have now and ask for improvements. -
The dots are not a population indicator. They are a server load indicator.

Quote:Outlook Express isn't COMPLETELY gone. It's been mangled into a new program Windows Mail. You can even import your OE address books and mail into it if you want.Like the subject line says.
I like to use two different clients on my home computer - one for work email and one for my personal email. Previously, I was using Outlook Express for my work email since that's the program I use at the office. Now, under Windows 7, Outlook Express is gone. Since I need to change programs anyway, I figured it was time to ditch Microsoft.
So, what would people recommend? FYI, no need to mention Eudora as I am already using that for my personal email.
Still, I'd recommend looking at something else. Like the aforementioned Thunderbird. -
Quote:Just an FYI. Note the "TR" in the model designation. Also, make sure you register that card with EVGA to activate your warranty. EVGA has great warranty support, but you have to register your product within 30 days of purchase to get it.
This is EVGA shorthand for 2 year limited warranty.
As such, this card is not eligible for the StepUp upgrade program. -
On a down-note. I was a bad marketeer when making my purchase. I had two windows open. One for a GTX 460 and one for a GTX 460 SE. I accidentally took the SE instead of the standard 460.
And, even with a couple things flashing "SE" at me I went "Buy it NAO".
So I get it, go "WTF?!?" and figure "a hell, I'l StepUp to a regular 460".
NOPE. The one I bought doesn't have a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Just a 2 year limited. Not eligible for StepUp.
Ah well. Will teach me to be more careful the next time I make my purchases. -
Quote:Whew, and I've been impressed with the performance boost I got by putting an Intel 80GB SSD in as my C drive. Too many other things to spend the money on right now but I'm wondering just how much real world improvement you notice moving from one SSD to a RAID 0 of SSD's. I noticed a fairly massive improvement going from a 7,200 disk to the SSD.
Basically my SYSTEM is the bottleneck now, not the drives.
And my Windows Index is now 7.2. Everything else on the system rates 7.2 except the drives (7.9, max index). -
Quote:Yes, but you don't go diving, fist-first into multiple +4x8 mobs with bosses and EBs to slug it out to the death while belching "YO MOMMA!" at them do you?None of my blasters have one iota of defense built in and I can survive with any of them just fine. And Ive been around since about launch.
Or at least not very often and successfully. -
Quote:Yep. The old saw about how, once you see a blue loading bar, it's all your end is looking "busted".Has anybody fixed the TRIM issue with RAID drives yet? Last I read TRIM didn't work with RAID.
Also RAID 0 isn't RAID. The R in RAID stands for redundant and RAID 0 isn't, lose either drive, you lose the entire array.
At the very least you will find out how long mission initialization on the server takes because the loading up the local resources should be nearly instantaneous compared to a mechanical hard drive.
Also, yes I'm aware that -0 isn't redundant (unless you want to quantify extra speed as redundant).
Nothing horrendously important is on the C drive. Moving off the spinning disk drive that was my original OS disk, I was able to hook back into my SQL DB from a new SQL instance with zero problems. My work apps are all still installed to a standard hard drive and reinstalling them was simply a matter of doing a clean install then swapping the original directories back into place (I love how stupid and portable they are).
Plus I have a nice copy of Acronis 2011 for backups now too.
The only thing I will NOT be restoring is my copy of PerfectDisk. -
Haven't gotten a lot done so far. Farted around way way too long and found out I was NOT on the latest BIOS for my board (so it wasn't letting me install to my SSDs).

So I upgraded the BIOS and VOILA!
Here's an Atto disk benchmark. Windows is rating disk performance 7.9.

I REALLY wanna see what happens when I load CoH on there! -

Quote:PROBLEM SOLVED....through not paying attention!

I was trying to play yesterday and the game started crashing every 10 seconds or so(of course right after I had started a TF
). After about the 6-7 crash I shut everything down including my router/modem. I unplugged my router, and took some canned air to it and the computers(figured it couldn't hurt). When I went to plug everything back in I realized I didn't know which item went back to which port so I just plugged them all back in where ever. BLAMO! everything worked, until......I turned on my 3rd computer.
*longer story cut short*
It seems something is wrong with my second port on my router. Every-time I plug something into it I start getting the lag/noise/or whatever it is. It doesn't matter what goes where on the other 3 ports but I can't plug anything into that port. I have to buy a new router now, but atleast I know what it is.
Thank you very much to the folks who tried to help!
Sounds like you have a "screaming" port.
I used to see this with NICs years ago. After a while, usually when the environment is somewhat...less than clean enough to eat off of...you'll have a NIC that gets a buildup of dirt, or has the connections corrode for some reason, resulting in regular, or constant busts of junk transmission.
Back in the Bad Old Days of hubs (as opposed to switches), this would effectively knock your entire network out as the screaming from the NIC would drown out everything on the network. Most of the time it wouldn't even respect backoff timings.
Good catch!
Now the bummer part. Replacing the failing hardware.
But hey! Excuse to buy New Schtuff! -
Quote:Since markets are completely merged these days, I don't see how server affects marketeering.
That's right. It doesn't affect marketeering. But the lower population servers are places where the prestige-nazis fear to tread. They can do it due to the inordinately high population on Freedom.
It'd be quite hard for them to replicate on a much lower population server. -
Quote:This could be standard Time Lord dogma though. Kinda like "Stop touching it or you'll go blind."Honestly, if you're watching Doctor Who for it's consistency in canon, then you're doing it wrong.
It could have been explained by a bit technobabble, but really it was better to just let the plot flow as it was.
The First Doctor once stated that "History can not be rewritten. Not a jot!".
Now that the Time Lords aren't around anymore, The Doctor is "probing" what really is and isn't possible with unlimited access to the timestream. -
Quote:Congrats. Sliding in at JUST under the 3 month mark too.WOW!!! That's pretty much all I got...
Superlatives simply don't cut it...
Back on post #492 when we were discussing the Solstice Party, I thought
that the #6 position was a "realistically attainable" goal. I had NO IDEA
what you people were actually going to accomplish.
I'm completely flabbergasted - To paraphrase the legendary Queen of the Blues,
Koko Taylor, that was one hell of a Wang Dang Doodle we pitched tonight.
Less than three months ago, the Crazy 88's did not exist.
Tonight, they're the #1 SG on one of the most populous game servers.
Un-fricking-believable!
In total, it took 263.8 Billion Influence to achieve.
More than 128 Billion of that total was burned in the past 24 hours.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around tonight's accomplishment.
In the meantime, I promised some pics and here they are:

C: http://tinyurl.com/32uhhv3
88'rs, it's an honor to be a part of the group. Not only is the firepit
keeping Granny warm tonight, but the very thought of what this group
did may well warm her heart for years to come...
Regards,
4
PS> Granny had planned to burn 1-2 Billion at the party - in actuality,
she roasted 6.5 Billion, and that doesn't even hold a candle to what
several of you guys did tonight - Incredible.
Against groups that've been prestige farming for YEARS.
Way to turn turning it up to eleven up to eleven guys! -
What I'd like to see happen, if not going and doing it on Freedom itself.
Go to the server with the LOWEST threshold of Prestige Earnings (and possibly lowest population) and build the prestige to a level that would qualify as 1st place on ANY server (including Freedom).
This sends two messages.
1: Server population is COMPLETELY irrelevant to marketeers.
2: We can do this ANYPLACE.
The existence of the 88's already proves:
A: It CAN be done.
B: I can be done RAPIDLY. -
Quote:Pretty much this. My main is defense capped with an eye towards endurance management and regen boosts. Now my Health is slotted with the uniques, boosting my recovery. As such, I don't have a huge regen bonus from health. As such, I occasionally eggshell against enemies. The uncommon Spiritual with the health boost helps ameliorate this a small amount. It also boosts the passive regen of powers that provide it, like health, Fast Healing, and Integration for a /Regen. Since it functions like an SO, you can either cap powers that weren't capped before, or eek out a little more regen of powers that were capped.
-
Quote:Yes "every little bit helps".tl;dr: I figured most builds would try to boost what they were already built for, but that doesn't seem to be the case in practice. Am I missing something?
However, what's going to make more of a difference? An extra 10% recharge on a power that already is at 200% recharge due to various power/set combinations/slotting combinations?
Or an extra 10% damage on powers that're already sitting at 99-101% damage?
Or an extra 33% accuracy on powers that, through native accuracy and IO bonuses, is already sitting at 80-90% accuracy?
Or an extra 33% EndRed on powers that are barely single-SO slotted for EndRed?
My main tank is built for damage and endurance efficiency with some nods towards boosted accuracy and recharge. For him, additional recharge on every power makes a greater difference.
On my fire/rad that, during teams, spends the majority of the time at 200+% recharge, more endurance management is the shizzle.
