Because Test is an undependable environment.
It can go for weeks or months at a time as if it were an open, playable public shard. Then a beta or a preview comes along. The server gets locked or wiped and all the plans for that time period get a flush and swirly with exactly zero recourse. Sometimes without even an announcement. -

Quote:Post-bombing run, I can fairly say that this was bunk.I believe Virtue reported having a 70 minute continuous Mothership Raid by spawning sequential GMs (4 total).
We set off all the bombs on the mothership over the NYE weekend and it didn't extend the raid OR spawn multiple GMs to defeat. -
The minute you say "laptop", I say "warranty".
A desktop computer can be replaced relatively inexpensively. Laptops, not so much. -

Quote:Cool, so it's not just me. It's weird that OUR AoE can do it. And possibly it's only ours, and is part of the Alighment switching as I've had Des as both an ally and an enemy.
Yeah, didn't even notice it until my mouse brushed over him and I noticed he had a sliver of health left.
<Hyper> Maybe we should
*lagged foot stomp*DEAD HOSTAGE*
<Hyper> Glad I'm playing a brute so I can say *EXCISED!* -
Quote:Because running after fleeing enemies sucks. Please forgive my ignorance but I just can't wrap my noodle around this one, despite all the guides advice. To taunt is to gather all aggro on you. That's bad, isn't it? You want the aggro on your expendable minions, right? I do understand the shared/divided HP (hopefully) but still. If I go down, everyone goes down. If a Drone goes down, I just build another one.
Currently, I play a Bots/Traps named Dr. Preposterous and love it. He's 46 and in PvE, I can handle high level mobs. He has no sets just yet, as I'm saving my pennies.
I'd love to understand this but... -

All of them.
I simply don't deal in lots of time-sensitive wares and I lowball the crap out of things.
This way, when I come back to a toon in a week or a month or whenever, there's merchandise and completed sales there. Most of my toons that are NOT brand-spanking new have at least 10 and 50 million sitting on them if they're not actively played. Toons that I play more frequently and are my main marketeers have successively higher sums resident and more expensive merchandise.
Note: I very RARELY twink. -
I think this IS a bug.
On the first Black Scorpion patron arc "Find info on Doctor Quatrexin", my team's AoE's annihilated the hostage (who had a blue "ally" box on him). As such, the mission was uncompletable and didn't pop a "you failed" dialog.
Having run BS's arc pre-GR and post-GR and never having had this happen until recently.... -

Quote:I actually don't know how to turn AVG off. Theres options to turn off some of it's features but others have no "off" switch that I can find.
- Open up the AVG managment console.
- Right-click on Resident Shield and select Advanced Properties.
- UN-check "Enable Resident Shield". And OK your way out of it. That'll turn off AVG's antivirus.
Just make sure to re-enable it afterward. -
Quote:Toony, can you post a HijackThis log (link in my sig). I'd like to see what else is running on your machine that might be interfering here. It's possible you have some slightly "overzealous" anti-malware product stopping you from running the upgrade.Goody.
An internal error occurred while installing the service pack.
Error code: 0x80070002. See
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139 for details. -

Then the problem is, very likely your machine (or at least your OS install).
Currently it's VERY suspicious that you can't apply OS service packs to the machine. This is pointing out that something is VERY damaged with your install.
So you've got a plethora of things kind of ganging up on you.
1: A load-intensive event (Rikti Raids still put load on your system even if you're nose-in to a wall).
2: Recent changes to the graphical system that make it more graphically intensive.
3: You're running on a card that's really not meant for gaming.
4: You're running on an unpatched (and damaged) copy of Windows.
5: It's unknown what caused the damage. Simple bad luck or possibly a malware infestation. -

Quote:That's actually somewhat wrong Nightblade, there are others that are not "Vulcan" or Romulans. It's actually a focal point of a few episodes of TNG.
Spock was not the first Vulcan in Starfleet.... T'pol was. He may have been the only at the time.
Officially noone had seen a Romulan for a long time, but Humans had, and Vulcans did know that they were related to Romulans.
the distress call was for an earth quake evac...apparently they didn't see the giant ship and such.. Also again it was a "anyone in range that can help" type alert, not a "oh **** we gettin blown up" type alert and if any other alert went out before then starfleet would have known of it and it is general protocol to send a message back saying we're on the way.
As far as the why Romulans left, that is likely a lie or been warped over time as the teaching of Surak had beened and so many other things are so I would never take that at face value...
Damn Superboy Prime and his time punches! -

Quote:Yet you're assuming that Vulcan had established numerous LARGE colonies and had a huge exploratory/defense force out there.Sorry but that assumption is just silly. Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space. So there is no possible way that all the millions of Vulcans that had spread out across the Star Trek Universe managed to return home in just a few minutes to get killed.
And yes I said millions of Vulcans. Vulcans had been been exploring space and spreading across the galaxy for 1,500 years. It's ludicrous to assume that all but 10,000 died.
What if Vulcan society ran more towards isolationism? Something similar to Krypton post-Age of Discovery? Or Daxam? Or if you want an in-canon comparison, the Talosians? Sure, they may have a progressive faction in there someplace, so exploration hasn't COMPLETELY ceased.
If you wanna fanboy-wrangle about trivia, knock yourself out. Just remember that for ever "if" you pull out (and make sure to brush off the feces), I can do the same to create a plausible answering argument.
It accomplishes nothing more than leaving that portion of our anatomy quite sore. -
Quote:Does it both anyone else that it appears that a number of writers don't seem to understand population sizes, how populations grow, and how much space is needed for any particular amount of a population...
Some numbers come to mind immediately that annoy me...
In Star Trek (XI) the Vulcan home world is destroyed and it's stated something like the number of Vulcans killed was 4,000,000,000 and there are only something like 4,000 Vulcans left in the galaxy...
Ok, the 4 bil number could be understandable because once you get space capabilities it could be thought that a pop stabilizes at a given number, but then saying there are only 4,000 Vulcans left...That is so unrealistic and unlikely it's really not ignorable. Looking at all the history of Star Trek we know AND just basic logic about a culture that have been out in space and have expanded to the level that we are left to assume they have there is no way that the Vulcan population was ALL on Vulcan nor that only that amount of pop was savable or off-world... clearly if the Enterprise, a ship from a 100 year old space civ could carry that many when it's not designed to, a colony ship from a 200+ year old space civ could carry more than that and thus indicates that there had to be at least that many on every Vulcan colony when they were originally set up and had expanded.
Of course there is always mass Gotham population movement... From 10m to 2m to 6m to 8m over the course of 10 years would throw the DCU USA into mass chaos...and not to mention the, I think, 8 million people that were killed in the Coast City thing...and then the complete repopulation of that area. in that same time >.> but we'll forgive that because comics are odd like that.
On Vulcan, population could have stabilized (or reduced) for other reasons.
It's known that, on Earth, people with more advanced educational backgrounds tend to have fewer children. Vulcan's society is highly regimented towards intellectual achievement. As such it probably has a great moderating influence on population growth.
Additionally, from what we've seen of Vulcan, the environment is moderately inhospitable. This would likely limit the population due to limits on natural resources and habitable biomes.
Also, you're assuming Vulcan had some massive outflux of immigrants to various space colonies.
We're roughly 40 years out from the first moon landing. Do we have even the equivalent of a train station (let alone a small town of a couple hundred people) on the moon? And does it look likely we're going to get there any time in the next 50-100 years?
And something you forget about colony ships. Moreso than the planet Vulcan itself, they're resource limited. You don't simply stack multiple hundreds (or thousands) of people into a ship that way.
Several thousand go away from the planet because they were able to reach a ship and get away from the planet in time. These could be anything from shuttles on up to military/research vessels. Only a very small number of individuals were actually beamed onto the Enterprise.
Most of the population simply said "A singularity. Fascinat.." -

Objectives:
- Set off all 18 mothership bombs.
- Destroy all 18 pylons.
- Defeat UKon Grai and his entourage.
Requirements:
- The Rikti Warzone
- A minimum of 18 players of appropriate level.
General Information:
- Rikti Ship Raid: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Rikti_Ship_Raid
Stage 1: Organization
Once the raid leader arrives, he should designate three team captains and team selection should begin. While any suitably durable character can complete a ship raid without dying, some care should be taken to equitably divide up the assets between three teams.
The first divergence comes here.
A bombing lane consists of 6 bombs, 3 on the right, 3 on the left.
There are three lanes on the ship.
- South (the first lane most players fly into on a ship raid)
- Northwest (Over the bowl and off to the left)
- Northeast (Over the bowl and off to the right)
Bombs are located in three zones on a lane and are fairly self-explanatory.
- Edge
- Middle
- Inner
Stage 2: Destroy the pylons.
This is fairly straightforward as far as ship raiding goes. On Protector, we employ a Type 1 Raid schedule, initiated from Point Du Hoc.
Stage 3: Shields Down, Bombs Away!
The second divergence come here.
Now, as everyone knows, a team can only set off a single bomb within a 30 minute window during a ship raid. This is what normally limits how many bombs can be set off.
- Type 1 (Deprecated): This can be gotten around by players who are designated as bombers alting out to a new toon and returning to set another bomb without being on any team. This could be, at best, described as awkward. Hence:
- Type 2: No independent bomber players. Each team maintains integrity until the grate is down, then one of two things happens.
Once the bomb is set and detonated, the captain re-invites the player to the team. This neatly side-steps the team timer on bombs, as the bomber is essentially his own team for the duration.- Players, in a pre-determined order, drop from the team to trigger a bomb.
- The team captain, again, using a pre-determined order, kicks players from the team to have the newly loosed player trigger the bomb.
Rinse and repeat for bombs 1-5. On bomb 6, nobody drops or is kicked from the team.
One player (preferably one who has not set off a bomb, usually the team captain) sets the final bomb and the team as a whole gets credit. On a team of 6 players, this results in 5 people getting 2 bomb credits towards the Demolitionist Badge and the final person receiving one.
The raid leader can determine the order of each lane assault or he can leave it up to the team captains.
Once all the bombs are cleared, you continue with the traditional assault of the "bowl" of the ship (or however you run your raid).
Default Ideal Raid Order (Clockwise)
Myths:
- Organization
- Pylons
- South Lane
- Ukon Grai
- Northwest Lane
- Northeast Lane
- Bowl Assault and Defense
Some alleged behaviors not noted during the Protector Bombing Run. It's possible that we simply executed too fast or missed something. But things we did not see.
- Multiple spawns of UKon Grai
- Lengthened raid time (outside of the time bonus for the initial defeat of the GM).

I apologize. I've not been keeping up with my adverts for the group. And thus we've had falling attendance and people confused about if we're still going.
I'm going to rectify this immediately.
Sorry I didn't get back to you in time B.
We had two people show and at 10 after we rolled out. We picked up an ITF in Cimerora and burned our way through.
2 fire/rads, 1 fire/dark corr, one fire blaster, and assorted tanks and brutes and other "lowly melee types".

Several of your regulars are still on Family Time this week. So we'll see them back next Monday.
Again, I apologize about the shoddy state of my updates. And I'll be improving them in the very near future. -
Quote:Yes, I am asking someone to do all the work for me. It might be lazy but I'm clueless to making builds. If you don't want to do it then just don't post. Thats the reason I said in my previous post ( If you like making builds ) if not don't worry about it. I know it takes time to level to 50 lol I have several other 50s I'm not expecting to be "Uber" I just want a build thats good and slotted to the max. About the powers, Really come on! How many different ways can you heal someone. I'm guessing you need a bit of recharge for the heals n stuff and some damaging attacks to help the team. If you cant help me, I'm sure theres someone out there who can.
Whoa. A bit of unnecessary hostility there.
If you wanna see how many ways there are to skin a cat, pick up Mids and toodle around in it for a while. You can even pull some of the builds already posted into these boards previously. So you have a starting point.
Part of the point of the game is to understand what your powers and enhancement choices are doing so you can use them to maximum effect.
Providing you with a multi-billion dollar build means jack squat for your since you won't know how to play it properly.
Also, in a lot of cases what you see are FINALIZED builds. Stuff people rebuild into after achieving 50 and having a good grasp on their powers. As a leveling build, some of them SUCK ***. Simply because you don't have an appropriate number of slots (which start flowing faster in the 30+ range) to accept certain enhancements.
Again, if you already have a build of a toon, submit it here and let people critique it (just don't take it personally when they tear it apart and rebuild it into something that is (for them) more effective).
