Pay attention to the bolded part people, this is what you need to ask for if it's not given.
This actually doesn't help people who've had their IP addresses flagged in the lockout too. Sure, you can get back in from other locations. But how long before the IP block drops and we can log in from home again.

I REALLY don't want to be fscking around with this for 30-60 days.

You were initially asked to choose these questions when you started the account.

And remember, it's essentially working like a password. If your original answer was "I build all my stuff myself from parts" and you answer "self-built", it don't work.

I'm just lucky the credit card I still have is the one I originally registered the account with.
  4. Update: Been over 24 hours now. STILL locked out of my account from my home IP address.

Unless it can run CoH it's JUNK!

Well, not quite. Betting it could back-stop a bullet just fine!

  8. It also REALLY DOES NOT HELP that I can't even submit a support request through that half-***** support website.

I put in my e-mail address and then I am prompted that I have to register it. Not sign in, REGISTER.

When I try to do so, I'm told that the e-mail is already registered.

WAY TO ******* GO! So now I have to call NCSoft for every stupid friggin problem!

Please. Phone the guys in Korea and ask them to hire someone who actually KNOWS how to implement a support and authentication system!

    This is absolutely unforgivable!

  10. One other thing you may want to think about if you're just looking to crank the settings to 11.

If you're running at native resolution on your monitor with high levels of Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering, you may or may not overtax the memory space of a 1GB vidcard.

Fortunately, there are options if you're going GTX 560 Ti.

The default clock is lower than some other models with less memory, but GPU performance is actually not the issue here.

While not as big a name as some of the other players, Palit makes some solid cards.

I also second Father's admonition to exercise a little restraint and wait for the newly fixed Sandy Bridge chipsets to hit the market.

Honestly, if you want to replace the keyboard and mouse, that's cool. I wouldn't replace the monitor unless you have something glaringly wrong with it.

So, you're pretty much looking at $2K straight up for "the box" alone. Needless to say, even if you DON'T break your bank with this, you're going to wind up with a machine that SCREAMS in CoH (and should be no slouch in heavy Notepad use either!)

Heck, if you're buying through Cyberpower, they even give you the option for a 2GB 560 Ti in the configurator for a price LESS THAN THAT PALIT CARD!

Granted, you're being nickel and dimed for it elsewhere but that's still a hell of a deal!

Honestly, even with the improvements in the game, I can't really recommend SLI for a CoH box.

Okay you specified Word and Excel. Do you need a copy of Office as well or will you get by with the free Office Starter Edition (basically office with ads built in).

Just using the X58 configurator as a guideline right now.

    $1800 and some change shipped.
    3.2Ghz i7 960 Processor
    6GB RAM
80GB SSD (OS and CoH) Will speed up zone loads when the bottlenecks are the throughput of your "hard drive".
1GB Hard Drive (for storage and for your paging file).
    Liquid cooling system
    2GB GTX 560 Ti
    Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
650W Power Supply (Modular, so you don't leave a big cable mess in there)
    Blu-Ray Reader-DVD burner
Default on-board sound (Honestly unless you're really an audiophile you're not going to tell the difference). If you really want to, you could drop the cash on a Xonar card.
    Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard

Left room for stuff like speakers, etc. As I wasn't sure if you'd want to replace them or not. Or if, like me, you're a headset gamer.

Now, if you go for a no-rush delivery, they take 5% off (about $90). But you get it shipped in 3 weeks.
Also keep in mind several of your components also come with mail-in rebates.

I wouldn't use the MIR as a way to "offset" the costs. Just pay straight out to the limit of your budget and stop. If you get money back later, GREAT!

Well, been up long enough, going to bed. Nite!

The short answer. Yes. It should.
  13. Well, was able to get my account unlocked. But I still can't log into it from home right now. The cutoff for that is only supposed to be half an hour. And it's been nearly 9 hours now. Luckily I'm able to remote into work and access my account there.

Apparently my answers weren't LETTER PERFECT. So they had to basically wipe all the info for me and reset them.

There were better ways of handling this...
  14. Luckily it's on auto-renew. So you poor ******** are stuck with me for ANOTHER year!

    That help I hope?

    Thanks again!
    Here's the lowdown from Crucial.

You can max at 2GB but have 2 slots, each of which can accommodate 1GB sticks.

Also, the HOWTO for swapping out RAM for your laptop.

Is this the best we can expect? A gimmick to drop instant death is the best thing we can expect for making a challenge? How about adding enemies without status effects but yet with armor on all of them? I did this on an AE mission and everyone loved it. I had a few enemies that had specific hard hitting attacks that would hurt squishies - so the melee learned to handle those - I had some resistant to slows - some resistant to fire.

Okay, I just ran this for the second time last night. This time, with an Incarnate enhancement in place.

While I'm still not enamored of the "patches of death" mechanic, I did find that the Apex TF went from a "BOOL-SHEET!" fest to do-able.

In all but once instance (where I was button-mashing and got rooted, and died because I couldn't pull back fast enough), the death patches were quite survivable but you HAVE to move.

And yes, this is hard on people with low movement (like stoners).

The TF isn't "easy" for some AT/Power combos. But simply turning it into another "Tank n' Spank" (a'la Reichsman) probably isn't the answer either.

Likely you are running CoH at a resolution that's either higher or lower than your regular desktop resolution.

As such, User Account Control is bugging you with "Are you REALLYREALLYREALLY ExtraSuperSpecial SURE you wanna do this?"

    You have four options.

    1. Kick up/down your game resolution so that it matches your desktop resolution.
    2. Kick up/down your desktop resolution so that it matches your game resolution.
    3. Turn off User Account Control.
    4. Ignore the issue and just click YES every time it asks.
While turning off UAC is NOT recommended, it requires the fewest changes to how you play the game and use your computer outside of the game.

Aye, my Ice tank uses SS and PPS this way.
  19. If you're having massive End problems, go Cardiac.
If you're relatively okay with End, go Spiritual.

My main's running the 33% spiritual and I'm finding that I probably do NOT want to swap in a 45% recharge Spiritual. In crazy full-out button-mashin' battle, he's running JUST on the safe side of his Endurance limits.
  20. Damn. Sorry I missed it. Was kinda burnt after work and opted for a power nap.

Evidently I have a hellaciously slotted Power Nap power. Because I slept right through an alarm that's loud enough to usually activate Super Jump as well.

So I wound up waking up around 10PM.

So those snores you heard while tanking Battle Maiden and Romulus? That was me, right there with you.

On the flip side, I decided to let myself be drafted into an Apex on my home server. The last Apex I ran was literally the first day of Alpha Strike. And it was NOT a happy TF for me. Mostly because I was unslotted and the TF failed. Lots of aversion, not pretty.

Well, we not only did NOT have this issue this time, we actually pulled Master of Apex out as well.

  23. Okay, left something about this in the feedback thread. Should probably put it here so it gets looked at.

    Okay, quantitative analysis here:

    Test System:
    Lenovo ThinkPad T61p
    4GB RAM
    Windows XP 32-Bit.

    Memory Usage:
CoH Launcher on startup: ~25 MB
After Idle: 2.756 MB Leaks up to 4.048 MB after 30 minutes and stable after that.

NCSoft Launcher on Startup: ~56 MB
After Idle: 3.7 MB Immediately starts leaking memory.
First time startup after 5 minutes: 8 MB
Second time startup after 5 minutes: 11 MB
Third time startup after 5 minutes: 11 MB

Leaving it run causes it to, slowly, continue to leak memory. Usually in single to double KB increments over time.
